Caching around Canberra for a while longer. TFTC. I thought I had parked close but the first walk bridge didn't take me thereupon. Missed a turn off in the dark.A lot ofvsearhing and finally a tricky hide that was out of my reach. Eventually spotted it and after some manoeuvring had it in hand. Anexcellent container.

**Total find count: 1360**It's GeoBash Mega weekend!! And nothing better than going geocaching around the nation's capital! for high favourite caches!Once a cacher, always a cacher looking into the obvious holes. This was not the expected container. Awesome work, worthy of a favourite point.

Found it! This was such a cool cache - it kind of reminded me of a certain type of Korok puzzle from TLOZ - BOTW, and this caches housing made me happy considering how much this truly encapsulates the spirit of geocaching - finding something so tremendous that you would never even know was there unless you went looking for it. The housing is very creative and, sans the dust, has held up well over the years. After signing the piece of paper inside, I went looking for treasure and even ended up finding the OG log. Thanks to you and your geokids for the cache!

Very nice craftmanship in building this cache - never seen one like this before.TFTC!

Was out Woden way with Baristayan and when we noticed this was a Pirate Oli cache…we had to go for it!

Quick find where expected, and what a marvellous creation! Was unaware of the tragedy mentioned here as well what a terribly sad occurrence.

Thanks for the brilliant cache! FP for sure!

Parked down near Anytime Fitness and took the short walk from there. Checked a few spots before finding the right one.

Out today to vote and run some errands, so we decided to get this one off our list. We had driven past it enough, so we worked the best approach, and was rewarded with a quick find. The log sheet was a bit dog eared, and chewed, so we put a new piece of paper in which hopefully should last a bit. Cute container, think it might be busted though, so it might need a bit of maintenance. Enjoyable and well done for your first hide.

Thanks Pirate_Oli for the placement and the fun.

Found on a beautiful afternoon. That was awesome - was quick to soothe obvious spot. Thanks!

27-Nov-21
Found it just before going to Melbourne for holidays. We took our car there and brought my 3 children and wife. The children had finished their homework and we had our luggage packed. Our 7-seat car was full with all our stuff and we were ready to go. It took a long time and we needed me (tall person) to find it. The kids loved the Lego and wanted to keep it. Luckily we managed to persuade them to put it back.

20-Jul-21
What a great cache! Previous finder’s receipt still operating as log.

16-Jun-21
That was worth braving the dark, the cold and the rain for.

There is no logbook and all I had was a shop receipt (for geocaching containers no less). I signed it and put it in themain compartment.

What an awesome cache!!!!!!found really easily though I had to wait for some muggles to pass by before retrieving, a bit of a stretch for my short self to reach so I was glad of something close by to help get it out of the hiding place. dropped off a travel bug that's been with me for a week or two now and I'm glad I can put it in such a cool cache! TFTC!!!

Spent a couple of hours early this afternoon collecting a few caches around the Woden area. This was the first stop (and probably my favourite). A great idea for a cache. I etched my name onto the log with the stub of the purple pencil provided. Definitely worth a FP. TFTC Pirate_Oli

Biking from Wanniassa to lake burley with TheSkype and back, all up 46km, enjoying the sunshine plus picking up a cache or 2. One of the best cache containers, I was impressed. Tftc

20-Feb-20
After a nice walk from the Memorial to GZ we searched around for a little while as the GPS was all over the place when under the bridge. However geo hubby came up with the find of a most delightful cache. Thank you.

12-Dec-19
Found after seeing a movie before a friend in Woden and before going to work. Parked near South of GZ and jumped across the drain (very sore arms from gym yesterday, though, made this much harder than usual) and then found the cache after a short search. A very fun and awesome container; was an absolute pleasure to find and to examine its finer, well constructed details. TNLNSL. TFTC!

05-Nov-19
Found with Nibletricecakes. The last of our post work finds today and what a lovely one to finish on. I have driven over this bridge many times and now know there is a delightful cache here. TFTC.

Swung by this one this evening after helping a muggle friend who lives nearby.

Went all around the world to get to this one but it was an easy find at GZ. What a cute container! A favourite for this one Smile

Went to Garran and donated plasma after work ... and was thinking - Hmmm, still some daylight left, I usually end up going and finding a cache after I donate blood or plasma - might go see if i can make a smiley out of that green dot on the edge of the big roundabout in Phillip. Didn't read the description until I had found a place to park, just to the South on the other side of that tall building being constructed (6pm, getting dark, and the crane is still moving).
Nice walk over the odd green bridge and through some weird vacant land that looks like it may have once been a park/picnic area.
TFTC - nice easy find in a good spot to hide something, and a fun surprise to see what I had found! Even has swaps (took a cute plastic spider and left some unicorn stickers). Glad I decided to come for this - deserves a FP so I am giving it one.
Now trying to type this (draft) log while walking around to the flood memorial to find the cache there Smile

26-Aug-19
This did made me smile. I love Lego so I was super happy to find a Lego cache!!
Very creative

What a lovely surprise and right before we head off to our monthly LEGO users meeting. How appropriate! We had just finished a quick look around at the Malkara model train show and had decided to fill in time before our meeting started over in Woden. So I hadn't specifically chosen to find this one. It was just the nearest unfound. So we were gobsmacked when we found it. Such a nifty creation. The geoson enjoyed it very much. This cache was 4/35 of the final stage of the Mystery at the Museum event. TFTC

F(H)ound It! #3296 @ 3:30 PM

What a fabulous cache.
I parked over near the Pool and followed paths through a weird little grove to the cave and GZ.
At first I was at a loss, I could see it but I couldn't reach it. I cast around for a tool to help me. But then I looked at what was in my hand - Oh Yeah, that'll do it.
Once I had the container in my hands I was able to admire the handiwork. So cool!

Thanks for the cache Pirate_Oli and family

19-May-19
Oh wow, thank you for this cache. (Say thanks to the kids too as seeing it made my day!)
Was in Woden for lunch and decided to go for a short wander afterwards and headed off for this cache. I had never heard of the woden floods or the memorial so was interested to come here. You can’t imagine my surprise when I uncovered this wonderful cache made out of my other favourite obsession besides geocaching! Favourite point for sure!
Very keen to see the actual memorial too, so I’m going to head over there now. Thanks for bringing me here today and making me smile!

Sunday afternoon in Canberra with a couple of free hours - what to do?

So, I jumped on my bike and headed out to grab a couple of local caches ( and get some information for the pluto pup multi).

This one has been watching me for a while, or I've been watching it, so it's good to go find it Smile

I loved the container, a fav for me due to the commitment of the builders

Thanks for the Cache Pirate_Oli and the geo-kids

07-Apr-19
Easy find on my ride back from the event.
What an awesome container Wink

05-Apr-19
Cycling through the area and this was one of four finds today, and my favourite cache of the four.
This cache is worthy of a favourite point for the effort in constructing it. Nice to see a cache with thought put into the construction.
I first searched the other side, as that's where my Garmin took me, but when I extended the search I made the find. I am pleased there was a handy tool to help get the cache here.
TFTC Pirate_Oli & geokids.

Thank you Pirate_Oli for putting the cache out and maintaining it.

Cache 4792 on 8 Mar 2019.

Bobl27 picked me up from work early today to make my long weekend just that little bit longer and we decided to grab a few caches in Curtin. Found three from four that we searched for, unable to turn a previous DNF into a smiley. Surprisingly warm outside and was glad to get back to the car even after a short walk.

This cache: quick find, but took a few extra minutes walking as we had to park elsewhere other than the indicated coordinates as we were there in non-parking hours. Cache was all good, but had to stop Bobl27 from pulling it apart. I knew there would be a door!

Thanks Pirate_Oli for the cache and the fun!

I liked how the container was made. TFTC.

Quick walk & find with bushwalkinggirl after school. Great cache, this was a hit for both of us. TFTC!

03-Oct-18
I was driving around this roundabout a while ago with DSD who alerted me of this cache, and told me it was one that was worth picking up! I didn't even know it existed until then, or maybe I just completely missed it, because it is somehow the only cache in this series I hadn't found!

So made the extra walk to make sure I picked it up, to find out what was so "interesting" about it!
After picking up Farmers 5 new cache nearby, I realised I was already at the suggested parking coords so decided to head off on foot.

Got to GZ and found the cache relatively quickly after checking more likely locations. Wow, no idea how this cache has survived here for 8+ months now given the location it is hidden in! Quite impressive actually!

I was certainly very surprised by what I found, a pretty cool cache and idea, thanks!

05-Sep-18
I haven't seen one like this before. Awesome. TFTC

#3164 Found at 8.35am on this wonderful sunny morning. Definitely a unique cache. Good on you kids. Was a nice short walk from Curtin. Signed log and replaced as found. No muggles. Thanks for bringing me here PO.

Best cache we’ve found since coming back to Canberra. Thanks for the effort that has gone into this cache - love it. Big FP from us.

03-Jul-18
Today is the 1st of July 2018 and I managed to find 157 caches for the day. It was amazing, we did so many caches with only about 10 DNF’s for the whole day. We spent a total of almost 12 hours caching and I was dog tied at the end of it all. There were some highlights for the day, Joolay got her 1500th cache find, I got my 3500th cache find and Kitty Katch got her 5000th cache find. We spotted an Echidna, a Wombat and several thousand Kangaroos during the day. Not sure exactly how far we drove but it was many hundreds of kilometres. I love geocaching so much and the friends I have made along the way make it all worthwhile.

I have included one of the Geocaching poems that I have written. I hope that anyone reading it likes it. Thanks for all the caches and sorry for the generic log for this cache but with 157 caches in one day it would be too hard to write a different one for each cache.

Geocache Poem
By DARKSIDEDAN

My endless search goes on and on
Looking for treasures of every kind
Always chasing just one more find
Putting past DNF’s out of my mind

I step out into the world outside,
Seeking what is hidden from me
What size, shape or form will it be?
Only time will tell, I can’t wait to see

Will I find my prize at the end?
I will search in the failing light and cold
Filling with despair having looked everywhere
Where is this thing that gives my life pleasure?

Looking all around from every angle
I read the logs and check the hint
I curse out loud as I walk in circles
Screaming the bloody thing it not there

As time flies by and I fail to see,
Never once stopping to realize
It always been there before my eyes
No need for sorrow, there’s the Geocache.

***** I am currently writing detailed logs because of a challenge provided by Project-GC. "The Author" Badge challenges geocachers to average one hundred words or more in each log. As of 31st January 2018 my average was less than 70 words per log, which seems close to the 100 target. However given that I have found so many GC caches, I have to write many logs with well over 100 words for a long period of time to get my average to the target. Apologies to anyone who finds the logs tedious but it is the only way that I can strive to attain this challenge. After 3500 plus caches (which includes all cache finds up and including yesterday), the average log length is just over 90 words. I am now entertaining the possibility that I might be able to achieve my task before this year ends. Progress has been better than anticipated.*****

Found with Kittykatch and Darksidedan on our way to getting 150 for the day and bingo this is it. 150 for the day. Officially dark but now have a torch which helped. Thanks goodness at 10pm we can go home. Thanks for getting us out and about.

01-Jul-18
Found with Joolay and DARKSIDEDAN on a quest to find 150 caches in a day and qualify for the Hidden Creatures souvenir. Last find for the day at about 10pm.. What a pleasure to find a cache like this to finish off a beaut day's caching. TFTC

16,055. Found on a run around Canberra today.

Well it was many years ago I ventured in here for a previous cache - long gone I suspect. Seeing another in this series I parked nearby and walked along the bike track to GZ. Then a look "in the obvious spot" revealed a nicely set up cache. Signed the log, replaced the cache, and we headed off to the next one.

Thanks Pirate_Oli !! A Fav Point for the Fun !

TNLN - TFTC !!

Found.... Nice one! Walked over, to find not only this cache, but to visit the Woden Flood memorial, which is thankfully still accessible, despite the construction zone. Muggle hubby loved this cache, being a Lego nut himself, and did a little repair before returning the cache. All in good order, and I added a little treasure to the right hand compartment. Deserving of a favourite from me. TFTC Pirate_Oli

20-Mar-18
Very cute!! I'm about to pick up my lady from work, and I've got the GeoSchnauzers with me for a walk because we are early, and I need my daily fix. We parked near the Southern Cross Health Club, and the dogs and I followed the bike path, crossed the drain via the bridge so thoughtfully provided, and went searching for the cache. Pretty soon, I had my hands on it, and shortly thereafter I located and signed the log. Excellent cache container. Thanks, Pirate_Oli. Have a favorite point.

18-Mar-18
The heat was getting up a bit and it is very open on the walk over to this one. Happily at GZ there was plenty of cover and no problems getting the cache. Very interesting container !

Thanks.

#7925 - 15:25; It was another beautiful autumn afternoon in Canberra, so another caching mission beckoned! It seems that a few of the caches selected for this afternoon's mission involve a bit of walking, including this one, although all have been pretty easy. Once I reached GZ, I was happy that I'd chosen the right side of the ditch and quickly spotted the likely hide as I arrived. Another well constructed cache and I soon had the log out and signed. A merry cache-mas to you too Pirate Oli. TFTC Smile

Looked for about 10 minutes when sighted the obvious spot which beckoned to be examined for a find. TFTC.

Tftc. Great container and good hide. Must have picked my time well, as there were no muggles around to interrupt my search.
