Third time lucky for us today. Mr ATLH and I have taken a wrong turn a couple of times over the years when weve had a look. The first time we ventured down the road to the gated property, as many others have done, and the second time I took us too far and we bush walked along trails on the wrong peninsula. Ive had the right entrance point marked on the map since that day but never been around the area. With a quick trip up the hill planned for today, this cache was a definite on the list. After our ascent and refreshing dip at the falls we called into the park for a little picnic at the lake and for my geobuddy to spot the tree. Then we drove around and parked on the rise for our little stroll to the cache. A nice short walk around the waters edge took us to the treasure and the newly replaced container. Really happy to make this find in this beautiful part of the sunny coast, it completed my trifecta for the day.
What an original idea this is for a field puzzle.I'd of course seen the eagle eye trio on my map for many a year now, for some reason or other I was just never in the neighborhood to have a peruse. When geobuddy AtTheLakeHouse put the call out to climb mount wappa with possible collateral, I have to admit at first I seemed quite nonchalant.Never having been in the area, I was oblivious to it's beautiful waterfall and pretty surrounds, so it took a little log reading to be assured of a great morning out. I really liked lake wappa, not at all what I was visualising. It took a moment at first to think what we were doing there, then suddenly I just saw the red burr clear as day and knew we were here solely for my benefit. Atlh having of course already visited this area multiple times on the hunt.I felt very grateful and humbled to have been brought along on this final journey then to the actual gz.We managed with not too much bushbashing at all, which is always nice. Thank you Thorny_Devil for creating this fun and unique mystery puzzle in a beautiful location. And thank you AtTheLakeHouse for inviting me along!
Muggle65 and l stared for the longest time with no result. Then finally the light landed in just the right spot. I had no idea how to plot the spot so we headed off and guessed. Took a to and a fro but then we spotted it. Container was full of water and log was a soggy spitball. We returned to the car and grabbed the only cache we had. Placed in same spot as wet one. Thank you for the fun
Dire need of maintenance which we undertook. Finally found after a bit of back & forth.
Out caching for the day around the Yandina area taking advantage of the public holiday that ANZAC day gives us; Lest we forget!I planned to just go along the southern bank and find the cache that way. But due to lack of parking options for a 2wd I decided to do it the way the CO intended. Besides, it made the experience a lot more fun! At Wappa Park I quickly spotted where I needed to be, and I drove back and pulled up 200m away from the trailhead; and began my trek to GZ. I bet though, I would have been even more fun (and easier) on my inflatabe kayak! After ducking underneath multiple branches, balancing over mud on a dead tree limb and startling the local birdlife I soon found the prominent landmark where as promised, my quarry lay in its muddy cave. I prised it out and signed my name on the logsheet baggie's label, as the log itself is still mushy. Thanks for the great adventure Thorny_Devil!
Unfortunately, the log is mushy and unsignable. Thanks for the cache Thorny_Devil

Found on October 14th. Spotted the GZ from across the dam several days earlier. Found the logbook was too soggy to write upon, but enjoyed the experience nonetheless thank you
Cache is checked and is ok. Dead tree repainted red. Its definitely possible to see it across the water from the park at the dam. This is a good quality cache hunt people!
Finding gz was not too difficult but the cache was buried under 30cm of decaying timber that had fallen onto it from above inside the rotting trunk. I excavated the rubbish and replaced the cache in its original position with its keeper rock back on top of it. Although a bit damp, the cache and log were in good condition.

Made it to the GZ without too much trouble, but couldn’t find the cache. Spent a bit of time looking, such a shame as it was a good adventure! Will to come back another day!
Out and about with Selva Girls and Brislions today. Worked out were I had to go so headed toward GZ. The cache took a while to find. I signed the log and returned as found. TFTC
Directions well explained and easy to navigate with added benefit of sampling a few wild raspberries on the way.
Cache in good condition but all previous logs washed out so used a pencil which will last.
Thanks Thorny_Devil

Returned with some advice on where to check, ok now I see where I went wrong.

An unexpected conversation just after new year led to an invite to go looking for a few targeted caches today. Another on Brislions list. Took us a while, but we finally added our names to the log. TFTC
TFTC smile 6109 out and about with Brislions and Selva Girls had a great day
Thank you, Thorny_Devil, for placing this cache for our enjoyment.

At Kilkivan new year event I was talking to Selva Girls about D/T grids and I needed 7 more for my 2nd loop. And she told me she had one to get for loop 3. And the she wanted to get was Kayaking one and she didn’t have access to one. I laugh because I had access to a couple of kayak. But it did take 6 weeks to organise time to go.
I had Selva Girls and Grannysmith1947 come for the day kayaking tree climbing and couple of bush walks. We all had a good day.
The count for me was 6 mystery and 5 traditional
Did love the walk into this one. When you roughly know. Where tree is it still hard at the other side of the dam to find. Once locating the tree was easy to find.
Sorry for generic log
Cache a day to keep the doctor away, or is it to keep me sane. No it’s to keep my streak alive. Thorny_Devil TFTC *437* streak. *2674* Finds

Wednesday. This cache had been on our radar for ages and since today was looking like it was going to be a deluge (so the weather man said), we thought we’d take our chances, and drive up north where the rain was coming from and see if we could grab this cache before the heavens opened up! We parked ourselves at the spot and looked across the dam. Hmmm, I couldn’t see anything, but it was overcast and darkish. Mr SP said “I can see it – the red is over there”. What!? I can’t see anything, but then I’m very short sighted and I get to read those tiny cooking instructions on the back of food packets and Mr SP seems to have superman eyes (Mr SP edit: I cannot see the PC screen clearly in front of my face, however!). Well, if I looked and squinted really hard, I thought I could make out red! Just. So we found a nearby ‘parking’ spot and headed in.
Having read previous finders logs of having a close call with some medicinal drugs, we wondered how we would go, but no trouble for us today. Found the tree with the big red blotch. Mr SP has his uses! We did however, have issues finding the container, so after some discussion, and an hour later, decided that we knew we were at GZ, we had paffed previous finders and knew we were at the right spot – we even checked within a 100m radius. So we did the best we could and replaced the container with a small camoed Sistema which is now in place. The CO hasn't been on the geo site for some time now but we have advised them of our actions. Cache is all good to be found now. (CO has since responded to our message with their agreement).
We were going to go on and find the next Eagle Eyes, but given the heavens were growing darker, decided we best head back home. Wonderful area here! No need to go looking for drug plantations
This was the only cache found on today's trip.
Thanks ***Thorny_Devil***, for showing us this place.

Out with Mr Wesso today and we stopped at the park to have a look for this cache. Once parked we headed for the seat where we found what we were after and this is where the adventure began.
What should have been a quick trip ended up taking a bit longer as I plotted it all wrong. We soon found ourselves beside a wired compound with security cameras, barbed wire everywhere and once the penny dropped we decided to turn around and leave.[8)] We parked nearby and examined the map and were soon joined by a muggle on a quad bike who explained that it was all private property and it was the medicinal marijuana growing area.
Back to the start and my error was soon corrected and we headed off and after parking the geomobile enjoyed the walk to GZ where the cache was soon in hand.
Once the log was signed the cache was returned as found.

I took along some trackables for a visit.

Out and about with my old mate Konie today to grab a few caches that has been on my radar for awhile now.
We parked at the close to the seating area and wandered over. After taking a seat to very friendly ducks came and joined us.
With the use of my binoculars we very easily spotted the "Tree Tree". So Konie did his think and plotted a route for the cache.
Off we drove up the road a bit and very soon found ourselves in a spot of bother. We landed our self in a government approved medicinal marijuana establishment, with hi tech camera and barbed wire fences. We very quickly high tailed it out and parked just outside the compound. Next minute, some muggle appeared on a quad bike, wanting to know what we were doing, So we told him....lol
We headed back to our starting point and Konie re did his thing, and came up with another route.
It was long before we were heading around the dame and after a bit of huffing and puffing from myself, we arrived at GZ. We quickly found the cache and signed the log, before replacing it exactly as we found it.

Today T-Tech, Brother Colin and I went to the Sunshine Coast to do some caching and have a swim [^]
We liked our last find, so decided to attempt this CO's other nearby cache. There was a fair bit of discussion about which was the right tree, but figured we knew the right area and took the drive around. A few minutes of walking brought us to exactly the right spot and we made the find. TFTC, Thorny_Devil.

Out for a Sunday drive to the Yandina area with IolantheK and Brother Colin [^]
Rather a hot day for caching but we finished up by cooling off at Wappa Falls
Without magnification greater than our x8 we couldn't spot the Red
Taking a educated guess we headed off for GZ an again BC made the find [^]

This morning IolantheK and I headed out to find a cache or two before meeting up with T-tech. Now the three of us headed north to find a few more caches and go for a swim.
This region suited us well.
Another 'site and go' cache. We spotted what we thought was the target and off we headed. A nice stroll along the shore line brought us to the cache.
Thanks for the cache.

Sat on the seat 190° is helpful. We parked at forestry track and walked down to the cache. TFTC
2nd cache of the day! Such a beautiful spot here. The kids spotted the gz from the park bench! And then off we all went to find the treasure! We have added a few swaps as an empty cache is oh so depressing!! Great hide! TFTC
After our picnic lunch, we got the binos out of Mitsi to study the bank on the south side and with the relevant tree in our sights, we set off for the other side. Parked up by the big pipe and followed the shore line round to GZ and the cache was soon in hand. Deserves a favourite point for the scenery and the adventure. TFTC Thorny_Devil [\;0]
After looking in the wrong spot with CDAH55, Dora the Explorer found it. Hooray now we can go home
Quick easy find. Was a lot of fun. Nice peaceful location. We put in some rough co ordinates. When we got to the area, I couldn't see any trees with red paint on them, so quickly took off like a gazelle as Mrs CDAH55 was waiting in the car. Left the boys behind. Found the cache and yelled out "found it". I thought I yelled out loud enough for the people in NSW to hear me, but out here nobody can hear you scream "found it". Waited for a little while then ended up ringing the boys on the phone. They were 500m away. They say women keep you waiting. Lol Showed Phil Serenity and CDAH55 the cache and then we made our way back to the car.
Dora the Explorer! and I were recently out this way finding another cache however we ran out of time to find this one. This allowed us a bit of time to do some research and coordinate projection. We now had a possible set of coordinates where the cache could be.
Neither of us had a set of binoculars to find the red spot from the posted coordinates.
We were having lunch in Yandina when Phil Serenity and Dora the Explorer! joined us. They wanted to find another cache nearby and after finding that one we decided to head back to the dam to grab the caches that we missed out on earlier.
This was the first one and when we got to roughly where we needed to be, we began to search random trees. Phil Serenity and I was exactly 180 degrees from the posted coordinates and was searching there. Dora the Explorer! headed off further away.
She had found it and yelled that out but no one could hear so she rang to say that she had found the cache and directed us to where she was.
We all signed the log and returned to the cache and replaced the cache exactly as found.
This was a lovely spot which deserves a favourite point.
All is good with this cache.

We were up this way to collect another cache nearby and it didn't take us as long as we'd allowed so we headed over to this one.
The Eagle eyed cachers I was with spotted where we needed to go and before long we were at GZ. That was much easier then I was expecting it to be.

There was no flying ducks today so our little group had to work off our not so 20/20 vision and hope that the red spot we thought we saw, was the red spot we needed. We had a good plan to get to GZ and soon enough we were leaving our marks on the log. Jelly the Wonderdog thanks you for the swim.

Finally seirra1 and I had a free weekend and we decided to head out in the afternoon for a spot of geocaching. We arrived at the posted coords and tried to spot GZ. This proved to be impossible for us as we had left the binoculars at home. Seeing as we had driven out here, we decided we knew where South was and we would go for a look anyway. We drove then walked to somewhere near GZ, and started looking. I slipped on the loose rocks and fell and seirra1 lost his good compass. I again read the cache description and realised that next to South was another compass bearing (195°) which placed us in the wrong spot. Seirra1 found the cache while I was still looking for the lost compass, which was located after a reasonable search. Thanks for the cache Thorny_Devil.
Us3scouts had a weekend with no Scouting committments and we decided to head out in the afternoon for a spot of geocaching. We arrived at the posted coords and tried to spot GZ. This proved difficult as we had left the binoculars at home. Seeing as we had driven out here, we decided we knew where South was and we would go for a look anyway. We drove then walked to somewhere near GZ, and started looking. I lost lost my compass in the scrub and was unable to take a back bearing. I again read the cache description and realised that next to South was another compass bearing (195°) which placed us in the wrong spot. Looking further i spotted a likely area and soon had the cache in hand. After signing the log and returning the cache to it's hide we returned to trying to locate my compass which we did eventually. I was gradually making my way towards this one via Mapleton and arrived at about lunch time. There were a few muggles just doing what muggles do at the BBQs and stuff so they were well unaware of me staring across the water and waving my phone around. Actually it was a good chance to try out the Spyglass app which proved to be perfect for this purpose.
There were some Unity Water muggles spraying the water hyacinth along the edge down there but they were moving away from the subject area. I plotted a rough GZ based on my observations (how on earth did that tree grow a big red patch?) and went for a drive. What I thought would be a good place to park turned out to be totally inappropriate and private property so I headed back to a nice spot and left the car to enjoy the view. By this stage the spraying boat was heading back to my approximate GZ and I was most annoyed
I bush bashed a bit to avoid being spotted because I thought that they would tell me to stay away from the sprayed weeds and that is exactly where I wanted to go. I had to proceed slowly as they motored along with their spray pump noisily running; no chance of seeing any birdlife here today! Finally they moved over to the other side and I was able to stealthily dash in to make the find and sign my identity. I was proud to put my mark below that of kingfisherau as I had found a few of his new ones earlier in the day up the hill.
Thanks Thorny_Devil for the excellent field puzzle and we look forward to doing your others some day.

*** FTF *** I drove out here yesterday to check this one out and spied what was indicated in the description to the location Co-Ords of the final .
Using the iPhone maps I got a bit disoriented when checking the projected location on the map with what I could physically see . As time was short I decided to leave it for then and overnight I checked with the owner and he thought I may be looking in the wrong direction . This morning I returned and same tree was in the right direction so I realised my error , after a short drive and weird walk-trail to the GZ as there were no co-ords - GPS arrow to follow, the cache was located and upon opening the clean fresh logsheet was revealed .
Signed logsheet FTF 15/07/2017, 10:15AM and replaced all as found.
