13-Sep-22
Found whilst on a very non direct route to QOGM - Charleville 2022. On the hunting trail again with SeasonedBird (aka Mrs Geo, Salty Chook, the Old Boiler, Old Chook, Dirty Bird, Angry Bird & occasionally even Love Bird). It’s a great day for caching.

01-Sep-22
It was moving day today as we traveled the short distance from Nanango to Kingaroy. The road was too bust to collect caches on the way so we headed straight to the showgrounds where we set up camp. Then it was off to collect as many caches as we could. Puzzles, multis and traditionals on a warm overcast day.

Thank you for your efforts in creating and maintaining the cache Sparhawke.

Stopping in Kingaroy for a couple of days as we bimble around before we head back to Ipswich. Decided to tackle these ahead of the rain forecast for the rest of this week.

Day 3 of our stay in Nanango. We like to refresh our memories and caching.

Coming back from Gordonbrook Dam where we left 3 green dots behind plus one Letterbox (we did the walk up Mt. Wooroloo years ago, but cannot find our numbers anymore), we needed a comfort cache.

This was a nice one with the view.

Puzzled about the name of this cache until I spotted the metal silhouettes just up the road a bit. Even the bison is the right colour

Easy hide. Burgers made from these critters were mighty tasty. The little but her had them. Cache containers have come a long way in over the years.

I was picking up a few last smilies with the youngest geodaughter on our way out of town to Ballogie. We pulled up nearby and soon found the little beastie hanging out, we looked to see if there were any larger beasties but sadly not today. I think I might drive back down this road next trip just to check them out....I've never seen a bison in person Razz We added our name to the log and off to our last cache of the morning. Tftc Sparhawke Big Grin

We are on our way to Blackall QOGM, our 6th stop on our trip is Nanango.
This morning we decided not to move to Kingaroy but instead took a day trip from Nanango.
Our main target was the dinosaur trail & a few others around town.
Spotted the bison from the car.

A bison…for the bison!
26/08/2018
105 Km from Home

We had loaded up Scooby Doo (Car) & the Mystery Machine (Van and mobile GEO HQ) and headed off to Kingaroy QLD for the inaugural Baconfest. After checking into the Kingaroy Holiday Park (Recommended) we were all set for 3 days of celebrating all things bacon. Although apart from the event name, most of the weekend showcased pork rather than bacon.
With all that yummy bacon and pork on offer (the “Butchers Block’ meal in the RSL bistro is certainly a vegan free zone) we needed to do a bit in between to stop the arteries hardening completely, what better way to do it than chase a few caches.
One of 20+ easy finds in between rain showers and lunch at Baconfest.
From here it was back into town for Cheesy Bacon Bombs and Popcorn Pork at Baconfest for lunch. Now you know why we are out caching, trying to burn off some of those calories...
We took nothing but memories; we left nothing but footprints, and our tag.
The hide is excellent, the container is in good nick. and the log is in good condition and ready for the next finder.
Thanks for the cache Sparhawke.
Cheers

What a great container. We saw the bisons albeit from a distance but it was our first time viewing these creatures. Thank you for placing this cache here for us to see them.

17-Feb-18
Before hunting down a few dinosaurs we thought we would try and grab a bison or two. Very happy when we spotted this one as we neared GZ. We were a little intrigued by the muddy nests that had been created by some critters in the nearby trees. Great hide and TFTC Sparhawke

17-Feb-18
My apologies up front for the copy 'n' paste logs...not my usual thing but the unusually high numbers found (for the Eskies) necessitated this to get the job done.

Mrs E & Kestal hit the road early this morning for a numbers run as the Eskies prepare for the next milestone...a really enjoyable day with many scenic roads travelled. We were very thankful for a reprieve in the hot weather after the scorching temps this week...some areas in the region obviously copped a battering at some stage with many branches and trees down in spots. Our thanks to all the COs for their contribution to our day...a total of 41 found!

05-Feb-18
Found it wet log

20-Jan-18
Well.... what a great find. Not only did our Geo son and Geo daughter find a surprise hanging about, but they saw their first ever real life Bison. There were 4 of them across the road in the paddock grazing just beside the long drive way.

20-Jan-18
No animal bison in sight today but spotted the little one hanging about. TFTC Sparhawke Smile

09-Dec-17
While still enjoying ourselves out on the back roads of Kingaroy we thought why not grab a couple more randoms dotted around the place. It’s nice to get out of the city and check out some country sights.

We pulled the car to the side, no need to though, we could of left it in the middle of the road, it is so peaceful and quiet out here and we have the place all to ourselves.

It was a quick find here and we were able to move on around the corn fields in search of more caches…

How apt is the name of this cache - we have not seen bison in a paddock before so it was a new experience for us, too. Now there is bison on each side of the road! Great idea and planning - well done!

(FTF) I saw this new lot come through about 1410 and was at GZ at 1440. Parked off road and it was a quick walk over to GZ and a very quick find. I would have had to be blind not to see that container. Now to go back towards kingaroy and tackle the trail. TFTC Sparhawke.
