Had to go out and pick up a something in the area so i decided to do some caches in the area, had a quick look and found where i needed to go but needed some better bait.Went back later and caught it first strike. TFTC cheers ZL2SGA
I'd brought a thing back from clearing out dad's place in the UK, (thanks Peter Gow), so that's always on hand, and KR rigged up the rest. Favorite point for a sweet hide. Thank you Etherlord Clan
A nice quick find. Retreival was a different matter. We ended up with some makeshift TOTT which did the job nicely. Luckily there was noone around to watch! Thanks for placing your cache. Ms_KR and I are on the road again, up "North" to visit family an friends. Today was a bit of a cruise around Palmerston North, weather reasonable, good enough to get on my bike for a couple of hours caching!Occassionally signed MK+KR on cache logs, and apologies for the generic logs. Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches.
Up to Palmie for a Popmac event (and another special event later). Following the event barefootguru and I could hear the Palmie caches calling. Well we were just selecting dots - ideally that we both didn't have which found us here - without doing any research. Once we cottoned on to the collect, luckily for me we were in BFG's car and he had a range of options for us to play with. The toys (aka BFG's TOTT's) came up trumps and our names were added to that tricky little log. Loved it Etherlord Clan - a lot of fun, thank you. A FAV for the fun I had.
Me & Itchyfeet2020 were cleaning up some random Palmy caches after Popmacs event. We arrived at this unclaimed spot on the map without reading the cache page after some searching and reading I improvised a TotT, and with version 3 retrieved the tricksy cache. That was a fun wero (challenge), thanks Etherlord Clan
Cache needs some running repairs.
Have removed the container till this can be completed

A fun find. We'd read through the online logs so had an idea of what we needed to bring with us to do our fishing successfully. Had a selection of items with us but the first we tried worked perfectly. Had to slow down for a cute little hedgehog crossing the road in front of us on the way to GZ. Adding a favourite point. TFTC
I'm the best fisherman in the family and I fished this one up quickly! TFTC
This cache was very difficult to get. I had to make a tool just to get the cache. This took me over 40 mins just to get. Overall very nice cache
Thanks Etherlord Clan for the Traditional cache! I replaced the cache back to its original spot.

Up in the flat lands today to catch up with a four legged friend so thought we would grab a few caches along the way.
Parked the geo-waka relatively close to GZ and sat there chatting amongst ourselves while a family of muggles prepared and boarded bicycles ready for a ride off down the track to the river. Just as they were leaving three car loads of boy racers parked up between our car and where the GPS was pointing.
While we waited for these clowns (there I said it) to leave, we read a few logs and worked out exactly what sort of ToT was required. We then took what we could rummage and 'macgyvered' it together into what we were sure was what was needed. After over an hour of us waiting then driving away and coming back, there was no sign of any muggle movement so we are laying down a big blue sad face without even getting out of the car.

Been once before but came prepared with fishing line this time. Waited for the muggles to clear out and within a minute had the catch landed, tagged and released. Tftc. Sl. Tnln.
After reading through the logs and having a quick scouting of the GZ, I was able to make the required tool. This made a quick grab of the cache, log was signed and cache put back. Added a small toy just because it is such a cool cache, which gets a favorite. TFTC
Had a good hunt but there was too much glass for hound (& a burnt out car!!). Will have to come back at a quieter time for another look
Out on a activity for my birthday taking the geohound for a bike ride around Palmy. Not a 0 bday thankfully, just a 7.
Thanks anyway

Having driven yesterday from the Hutt Valley to Palmerston North to attend Etherlords birthday celebrations (joint with the Clans housewarming), a few of us (Myself, Etherlord (with 1 GeoKid in tow), and the Seagnoid) decided on a spot of afternoon caching after a fantastic morning of board gaming!
Today I had the cache owner with me, however when we got to GZ I already knew what had to be done, and the tool required. I had come across a cache similar to this in Kapiti.
The team worked together to extract the cache, and the Seagnoid and I soon had our names on the log. TFTC

Love this we went and were so confused we looked somewhere else then saw we’re it was but didn’t have the right tool so when home and made up a tool and grabbed the cache and put my name in log TFTC
Third or fourth visit here for a cache, a couple were for the previous iteration. After messaging the CO I was armed for action today and after a few goes managed to add my name to a log, have messaged the CO with what's what. Nice idea here.
With Winter rapidly approaching (2 days time!) and a wet forecast for the week ahead, I was keen to get out and stretch my legs a little in a local area. I've been wanting to head back to the Manawatu Gorge walks especially with a Geotour enticer, as well as a couple of heavily FP'd options there too. Has been a few years since I've been out this way, around 8 and a half years so interesting to see what's going on in the gorge road replacement.
As it was we had our second heavy frost in the last couple of days so a cold start to the day, but things soon warmed up once I was heading upwards on the Tawa Loop (and a little beyond) before heading to the Herb Farm ad lab series, then a walk alongside the wonderful Manawatu River for a few more of the trail of caches along from the Ashhurst end, quality not quantity wins out with these.
As it was a healthy 14kms walked and time for some retail chores before heading home, thanks to all COs again.

This was an absolute mission! I would recommend not dropping your keys down the pole
Had a free day in Manawatu and the mornings mission was to turn four sad faces into smileys. Succeeded with three. Having talked to the CO about my poor fishing techniques he recommended some alternative bait. Amazing how fussy fish can be. Arrived at GZ and was soon reeling in a big fish. A black marlin I believe but not much good to me as I’m a vegetarian so let it go. Thanks Etherlord.
Enjoyed a visit to Palmerston North to attend the GIFF 21. Afterwards decided to visit this cache. Have been here previously but with lots of muggles around. Today it was drizzling so had the place to ourselves. Came with a couple of fishing rods and bait but sadly no catch.
Thanks for the cache!
Sorry for the delay in logging. I’m in the process of finally logging all my old finds.

I made a day trip up to Palmerston today to gain some altitude in the November stage of the "Reach the Peak" challenge. I've decided that with the current Level structure we are in to complete each climb as early in the month as possible. A revisit for me so I knew what was required. . TFTC
The Manawatu region is now in Alert Level 2, which means we can now go geocaching again. Yippee!

Second time here this time with the right fishing rod and managed to have a quick sign in with this busy walkway thanks Etherlord TFTC get a fave
Yep, we revisited this one alright. Not having the appropriate tool we returned and with no one around quickly cast our line. Within seconds we were fishing out the container and signing the log. Well set up cache so a fav. Thanks Etherlord clan.
Asked by my Taranaki mates to check this one out; so I'm here having an idyllic afternoon's fishing on the Manawatu river. Knew immediately where it was. Tried one extraction method but while I received a 'hollow gulp' I didn't catch a 'fish'. So tried another fishing method with a different 'bait'. This time I got a quick bite and shortly after reeled in a prize specimen.
Clever. TFTC All good here.

TFTC! good find with the whanau on this gorgeous manawatu day found with gavgav2889
We didn’t come with the tool required to be able to get this one will have to return
So happy I’ve finally found this one ! Always knew where it was but thought I had no tool in my car but I always did and only just realised. TFTC
Decided to get up early this morning and try and Solve the Mystery at the Museum, having a few caches to get, I was deciding on a few options, but options being thin and far between, it was time to go to greener pastures. Having a few more caches to get in this area a plan was hatched and it was time to go and pick up the remaining caches to see if I could solve this Mystery.
After finding GC4BKAG - Ruamahanga Wildlife (Manawatu), this was the next cache that was on my list, arriving at the given parking spot. After finding a safe parking spot, it was time to make my way to GZ, arriving at GZ, I knew what was required, but after looking through my tools, I didnt have what was required so decided to give it a miss this time, will be back.
Was very much disappointed with the amount of rubbish that was thrown around near GZ, must have being quite a party here last night[:(!]
Now where to next ......

Out on a sunny day to collect some caches, some are puzzle caches that we have solved. Sunny start to the day, set off at the park. Following the fun climbing the tree in the Linklater Pines, we went to do Fred's walk.
wrrived at gz and had a scout around. not finding much that matchrd hint. rethought the title and had a brainwave of what to do. found part one of our fashioned tool on our clothing but the second piece took some more attempts to find something suitable. once we did we were rewarded. tftc was very fun to do and figure out. fav point.

I have been here before fishing so I had come prepared with the necessary tools. There was a muggle in a car nearby but they took no notice of what I was doing. My tools worked a treat and it didn't take too long before I snared the cache. I tried looking up the previous cache that was here but must of been another CO?

As we had been here before and found the previous one we thought we knew what we needed to find this cache ..... Except it didn't work. Found something in the boot that did the job. A great cache that surely could never get muggled. A fav point for the fun cache. We both had a day off so decided a caching day trip was loooong overdue.

Waited for ages for a couple who were having a huge disagreement about who had lost the car keys (turned out they were on the roof of the car). Once they had gone we got down to business and soon MacGyvered something together to enable us to retrieve the cache. Got there in the end, TFTC and a fav point from us
Had been to GZ 2 years ago and knew what I needed from my geo tool kit. However, it wasn’t the right size. Used the medical kit and another piece of walking equipment and we were ready to go. Thanks to 31CJB’s patience the cache was recovered. TFTC. Favourite given.
Came out with Ethness with what we thought was the best equipment. But had to improvise with what we had in the car.A little bit of patience helped. Another favourite.A great memorable find. TFTC
#16494. It didn't take too long to work out where the cache probably was. I had a couple of potential retrieval tools. One wasn't long enough. The other could have had I been able to adjust it properly. So, I just had to tie them together and hope for the best. Thankfully the improvised tool was up to the task. TFTC.
Day #3 of our four day caching trip to Palmerston North. Today the forecast was perfect for an assault on the Stickman series - fine with light winds in the morning. The weather turned out as forecast, with great views especially along the ridge and it took under four hours from start to finish.
After returning to PN and revitalised by coffee, we decided to find a few more caches in the area. We arrived totally unprepared for this cache. On reading the description, we wondered if we had enough tools to retrieve. While StreetWalker was fashioning a tool out of what we had brought with us, my GPSr suddenly decided that the cache wasn't there but else where. While I was wandering around looking for other likely hiding places, SW quietly got on with the job and retrieved the cache. Nice one. TFTC.

#10,320. A park and field puzzle by the Manawatu Riverside Walkway in Kelvin Grove, Palmerston North. GZ was pretty quiet between the occasional muggles. Quick find and relatively quick retrieval with the special tool we brought. The cache was in excellent condition, all nice and dry inside.

Combined a dot day and a bike ride to find this one. I quizzed my daughters about what was required before I left home, since they had already found the cache before.
A quick stop and it didn't take long for my bait to work.
Thanks.

A bit of an interesting day for me. It has been one of my parenting weekends, and so I had made a plan to take my lad over to the Wairarapa to attend a Geocaching event and pick up a few caches on the way in the hope of finally achieving the Hidden Creatures souvenir series currently running.
However, I mistakenly got the event date wrong, and so it was yesterday, not today, and suddenly I was at a loose end. What to do? Well Palmerston North is still rich pickings for us both, as we are still relatively new to Geocaching, so figured on tempting fate with the weather in the hope of snagging a few up here.
I had been eyeing up this cache for a while now, as it had a D/T rating which was still a dot for me, and getting it would help me towards a Challenge Cache elsewhere. I had a pretty good idea of what might be required in terms of 'equipment' to get the cache, but rather dumbly I had neglected to actually bring it with me. I blame the fact that I wasn't actually expecting to do this one today. No, absolutely nothing to do with having an ageing brain at all!
So having arrived at GZ, I thought we'd just see if we can locate where the cache might be, for future reference. I spotted the likely hiding place pretty quickly, and was just looking at it when the lad piped up with "well what would MacGyver do?" Well that got the old grey cells into motion! I spotted a potential bit of kit nearby, and so had soon fashioned myself a rudimentary item for cache extraction.
Unfortunately for me, I hadn't exactly planned everything perfectly, and just as I was reaching to take hold of the cache I got an almighty belt off the nearby farmers electric fence, prompting me to drop it back in it's hiding place and elicit more than a few choice words on the subject! My index finger was still tingling when I made my second attempt, now fully protected from a similar experience, and this time the retrieval went without a hitch.
Found some TB's inside, which I swapped with a couple that I had been carrying around with me for a few weeks. The log was duly signed, and everything, including the 'borrowed' kit was returned as found.
Thanks for placing this cache, and for unwittingly creating another bit of personal Geocaching experience which I won't forget in a hurry! I have awarded a FP for the help in furthering me in the Challenge Cache, as well as making my lad laugh at my expense

Awful weather today but ok enough to grab this as we had got its predecessor. Dropped three small lightweight trackables in it. Tftc
Grandcacher really enjoyed fishing for this one today. I remembered it from its previous life, as it was such a frustration to me for so long! Great cache! A fav for me!
Today I was thinking of heading to a brand new cache but then noticed this one which I have been meaning to try again...
So I prepared the required tool and the searchDog, then searchJunior and I got on our bikes and rode the Riverside trail all the way to GZ
We waited a few minutes for some muggles to leave before we quickly did a spot of fishing and on our second cast reeled in the cache we were seeking!!
After signing the log we returned it stealthily to it's home and set off on our bikes again.
Thanks Etherlord Clan for this cool cache It was a fun ride and good to have another smiley face on the map

We too have been fishing here before, and last time, according to our log, it was easily found. We don't remember if the original cache was hidden the same way, but if it was, our technique must have deteriorated with time, as this time while we almost landed it on our second attempt, it wriggled from our grasp, and it took several more casts before we finally reeled it in. We were assisted by the same, somewhat older and taller granddaughter hayleyhnz, along with hannahhnz and hollyhnz. A favourite from us. TFTC
This one had us baffled. Looking at previous logs, we weren’t sure if we were meant to have brought some sort of tool to ensnare the cache. After a reasonable look around, in between waiting for muggles to pass by, we failed to come across anything resembling the cache. We departed none the wiser as to the whereabouts of this one.
Having found the previous one i thought!!!! i knew what was required!! Well sort of but on the first attempt disaster struck resulting in failing and causing problems with the cache / So i contacted C O and out we went to check it out! No muggles at this hour of the day ! Oh dear further tools were required so back to get them and return to cache. No muggles!! so major work was required to restored the clever cache to its proper status! Log book signed and all reassembled. mant thanks for this cache. One good point about this cache. was it got an overhaul. and a big tick for maintainence. This def. deserves a F P from me for its work man ship and Oh just so in keeping!
I received a very apologetic phone call from [@haydn.seek](http://coord.info/PR3BAKJ) saying that she had encountered some issues with her fishing trip such that she snapped her fishing line and lost the 'hook'.
Just this afternoon I had been reviewing my book of placed caches and noticed that I didn't have the details of this one listed (eg, container size+shape, logbook size, etc), so I figured I'd retrieve the hook and update my records in one visit.
Cache is up and running again.
No animals were harmed in the making of this announcement.

This was very familiar territory, we've been fishing here before!
Fortunately it was late enough in the evening for there to be very few muggles around.
A bit of wrangling to get the fishing gear to work and the big one was soon hooked.
I left a pet rock - a chick in an egg.
Thanks for setting this one up again EC

Just as well Macwatt us very innovative. We had an attractive device but not long enough. Tried the suspension trick but it was too attractive. Plan C worked a treat and fish caught soon after. Funny how the fishing lines in our motor home were useless! Thanks for the cool cache Etherlord Clan
Fishing ....one of my favourite past times...on arriving at GZ oh this is familiar I caught a big one here before....thats great as I had brought the correct bait and gear...a couple of casts and soon had it hooked ...had a close inspection and measured up and its to small so had to through it back ...this is a great cache and an easy fav..thanks etherlord great effort and design
Found on my third visit. The first time, being inexperienced at fishing, I brought the wrong sort of fishing tackle. On the second visit, a car load of hoodies were parked too close to attempt the catch. Out on a morning bike ride with a friend today. I got out my fishing gear, explained what I was about to do when my phone rang. By the time I had finished my short phone call my (non geocaching) friend had the cache in her hand, much to our combined amusement. Neatly done Etherlord Clan! and very good to tick this one off.
Well as from today I am on holiday yahoo and what shal I do on my first day,ah yes perhaps a spot of fishing and I know of just the spot.
So it's out to the shed and look for the rod, reel, line, and bait ,the weather looked ok as well, so hopefully there was no one else in the fishing spot I had in mind, not like the last two times (some people just dont know when to go home).
So it was into the car with the required fishing gear and off to the location I go and on arrival I spy no one else around , so I quickly grabbed my gear and cast my line , this would have to be the luckiest day of my life a fish straight away but know it was just a container, so I opened it up and what would you know but it looks like other people have found the container as well because someone has placed a piece of paper inside and a few people that have found it have signed it with a date as well so I thought I had better do the same.
I was amazed that everything inside was nice and dry so I returned the container as found or someone else to catch, and just after I had packed my gear away blow me down if someone else turned up I dont think they were going fishing though.
Thanks for the placement and the smiley.

I logged a DNF a couple of weeks ago. Appears it might've been the moon alignment which hampered my fishing skills. And probably lack of patience.
Today was super quiet with just me & the girls so we were able to take our time dropping our line, waiting for the fish to bite. And bite they did. YES!
So happy to tick this one off! TFTC

Having found the previous version of this cache I began constructing my fishing line a few days ago. This sparked an interest from the junior cachers who then went around the house fishing but without too much success. I guess our fish just weren't hungry enough?
Today the rain had cleared enough to head to GZ. After a positive identification of the target we set about casting our line. We were lucky to catch this fish on the first attempt. It's got a much stronger bite than the fish at home. No problem signing the completely dry log sheet. After Jnr Cacher had caught the fish a few more times in the carpark we placed it back for other fishers to catch. Thanks for re-instating this interesting/different cache Etherlord.
Just as we were getting in the car to leave the farmer came by feeding the horses hay. Turns out 8:45am is feeding time so this delayed our departure quite a bit.

This was retrieved by Mr G while Mrs G was still bringing it up on her phone! That was a nice birthday treat for him. Of course, having found the previous version here was a great help too.
We then enjoyed a short walk along the river walkway. There are many attractive areas of trees along here.
While it was a lovely fine day, the wind was quite biting from the south east today. We were glad to be warmly dressed. It was very quiet at this time - mid week, late morning.
We also enjoyed a little sit and contemplation on the memorial seat for Brodie and Brock. We'd love to know who they were.
Thanks for reviving the cache, Etherlord Clan.

I didn't manage to find the original cache & thought it was time this one was found. Thought I had the necessary tool to retrieve it although I'm unsure if I was even fishing in the right spot.
Anyway, clearly no fish for tea tonight so I left feeling pretty gutted. I suppose I'll be back again cos the blue sad face will annoy me!
At least Master 2 got to enjoy watching the horses frolicking in the paddocks!

Fished this one out between dog walkers coming and going. Thanks Etherlord Clan for the cache.
Oohh having been here before I knew what was needed and what I had to do, it still took longer than it should but enjoyed fishing in the rain, thanks for putting this on back into action
With plenty of dot-days at the moment a new cache is always appreciated, especially so close to home. Hadn't realised the previous cache here had gone missing so it was good to see it replaced. Headed down to GZ after dark hoping that there wouldn't be any muggles about and thankfully that was the case this evening.
Having fished here before we had a fair idea of how to tackle this one and soon had the fish, err we mean cache, in hand. TNLNSL, thanks Etherlord Clan and a FP from us.

I saw the notification for this cache when I woke up and decided if it hadn't been found by the time I left home to head to work, I would head this way.
Having found the previous version of this one in a way that was not intended by the previous CO due to a bit of vandalism, I knew exactly what was required to retrieve the cache. So I made sure that I had the required tool needed before I left home.
Pulled up to the parking spot and retrieved the cache to find that I had been pipped at the post for the first to find by Gr33nslime out and about early with DangerSam about 30 minutes prior, before I'd even left Feilding. .
Thanks for replacing the cache here and it was nice to retrieve it in the intended way this time. Here's hoping that it doesn't have the same issues that plagued the last version here. TFTC

# 996 I hadn't had a chance to find the previous iteration of this cache as I had tried to once and found the host item in the near by paddock - and then it was subsequently archived. Today I was up VERY early with a restless dangerSAM - and checking my emails I saw this one at about 6:45 am. No way DangerSAM was going to daycare today with that cough so after a bit of assembly of some items i thought would be useful, I bundled him in the WARM car, still in his sleeping bag - hoping he would just SLEEP! Sleep damn you.
Arrived at GZ when it was still dark and quickly realised that the items I had assembled were not going to achieve what I wanted. Looking around for another suitable item in the vicinity and I couldnt find anything of the appropriate dimensions. Almost admitting defeat I drove away, but sighted some thing on a nearby flowering plant that could help me. Sure enough, it did! I am reasonably uncoordinated so it took several goes to retrieve the item - and there is no way to do that subtly - but managed to retrieve without being observed.
Blank log found, signed and returned for the next finder which im sure was not too far way. Thanks [@Etherlord Clan](http://coord.info/PR5Y6HZ) for reinstating this cache and rather stoked I was the [FTF] today @7:40 am.

# 175 Out with my mum before sunrise to go fishing? Yeah, apparently, but I think she was mistaken. i know fish, and theres no water around here. I sat quietly (not so ) waiting for the fishing to be over.
It was a good time for me to visit this cache, after work and in the early evening after dark...there were no muggles about and therefore I could take my time.Taking the right tool out of my toolbox,it didn't take long to have the log signed and the cache re-concealed.TFTC!
