LeeLee set out today on her bike to pick up a few of the Parkville caches and others in the area. It was a nice area to visit and ride. Admired the old buildings, lane ways and wall art along the way.
I wanted to get this one today to help with a challenge.
Quick find. No tram muggles today.

Have flown down to Melbourne from Sydney for a 2 week training course at the Melbourne Tullamarine Airport Air Traffic Control Centre, but my main interest will be in collecting as many Victorian (VK3 in HAM radio terms) caches as possible during my free time away from the workplace. My primary caching target areas will be the Woodlands Historic Park (with it’s 100 plus caches), the Moonee Ponds Creek Trail, the Outer Circle Railway Trail, the Donaldson’s Creek Trail, the Ruffey Creek Trail, Eltham (Diamond Valley Railway), and the suburbs surrounding my Essendon apartment. This was the 3rd of 10 finds for the day, and the 235th of 242 finds for the trip.
Headed out after work for my last caching afternoon of the Melbourne trip, as I will be flying back to Sydney straight after the training course finishes tomorrow afternoon, for some final cache finds. Visited the suburbs of Brunswick, Coburg, Hadfield, and Oak Park throughout the afternoon.
Next was this Letterbox cache, and a nice quick find beside the rail line. Stamped the logbook, TNLN, and then replaced as found. TFTC Geocaching Victoria.

With the Parkville caches close to their expiration date a small team was put together to tackle the hides as our hometown celebrated a public holiday for the Geelong Cup. Our bikes were taken off the racks, helmets put on, sunscreen applied and we were off on this very warm day, riding our way through Melbourne and this series. Lots of laughs were had with ThePacman, anikano and Jacko83 as each cache was searched for, found and signed.
Thanks Wiser than Owls for the placement for us and others to enjoy for the Parkville Mega.

I have been slower in finding caches this month due to finishing off uni for the term. So when a little cache team was assembled to tackle these hides in Parkville I couldn’t say no. Weather turned out perfect and such a good way to get back the motivation for bike riding in this stunning area. Signed log as TJAP (Tritonz, Jacko83, Anikano and Pac-Man) for many of the logs today. All great hides. Sad to lose them off the map! TFTC
One thing myself, Tritonz, Anikano and Pacman could not stop saying all day: 'i can't believe these are getting archived!'
Such a good series! All fantastic hides, great trails, and some tough puzzles. Really hope the idea is reconsidered and they can go on their own Either way, great to get out today and knock the rest over with a very very early start from Geelong. We did several car shuffles, slapped on the sunscreen and pedaled all day. I have been wanting to check out the CCT trail for a long time now so this was a great opportunity to do that.
Thanks so much to all the CO's who put in an effort here on these caches. Superb effort for inner city, no annoying tricky micros either!
Singing today a TJAP: Tritonz, Jacko83, Anikano, Pacman

Pass, workmen standing on GZ and have no intention of moving. Wonder if there work is going to affect the cache?

I decided to combine the need to find some caches for the Museum Heist souvenir thing, with the need to find the Parkville caches before they are archived. So despite the forecast of an icy blast and rain hitting Melbourne today I hit the Brunswick trails on my bike.
I had never seen this tram depot - was surprised to see such a large facility in 'town'. The cache was fortunately a quick find, so I stamped the logbook and continued northwards.
Thanks for the letterbox, Wiser than Owls.

This was a nice easy cache to find and thankfully there were not many muggles around when we arrived with ilook4geo. Two more names were added to the log and the cache was put back into place before we moved on to make the next find. The cache was all dry, as was the log. Many thank go to Geocaching Victoria for placing this cache.
Came along with goingplaces2 and made the find quickly here. Not many people passing by at the time. All good with the container and log. TFTC.
So after I checked into the hotel (conveniently located on Sydney Rd) I dumped my stuff in the room and got ready for an evening of caching along the bike path. First I walked up Sydney Rd and grabbed a bite to eat in a trendy pub full of hipsters. After a delicious Ruben sandwich and a beer I continued on to Between the Lines and from there I walked back to the hotel. Huge walk and made my kms walked for the day on the iWatch to be in excess of 15kms. Epic my feet were killing me by the time I was back at the hotel and off to bed.
Loved the caches along the bike trail was impressed by the variety of hides, very clever all of them. Weather was perfect, no rain and not too cold. Still had to be very careful of the cyclists they are a quick bunch, you have to have your wits about you. There were a couple of dodgy characters about but didn't feel threatened. The graffiti art was also pretty cool shame about the graffiti not as nice as the graffiti art.
All caches were found, which was great.
Thanks to all the COs without you we wouldn't have a game to play.
Spent a while watching the trams coming in at the end of their shifts, interesting. TFTC Geocaching Victoria

Today I had one of those days where all work for the day was cancelled. I had some maintenance to do on a geocache in Carlton, so I figured I could do that, then explore some of my old haunts and find a few caches on my travels. It threatened rain all day but nothing significant was forethcomeing until after I was safely back in the car after about 5 hours of hiking around the area.
After hiking around the uni, I moved further north to tackle the trail of caches along the Upfield line. Not many bikes on the trail today, but just enough to keep you on your toes.
With a muggle approaching from the other direction, I wasn’t sure if I’d have time to make the find. I kicked something, saw the cache and had it signed and replaced before the oncoming muggle.

My first one for the day! After meeting some friends around Barkly Square, I decided to go for some of the local challenges I qualified for, plus their friends. A great little hide, with a stamp that insisted on stamping everything (because it was leaking a little). Pictures is my thumb post stamp with the tram depot. Thanks!
In the area after having to drop a friend off this morning so I decided to pick up a few caches along the bike path while I was here.
I didn’t know that there was a tram depot here and a couple of trams came and went while I was doing these caches along here as I walked to a few others.
GPS was out a bit so I widened my search and I soon spotted the cache.
Thanks Geocaching Victoria TFTC.

My device was pointing somewhere but that didn't seem likely to me, and I focused on something else that caught my eye. Bingo! I'm glad the train passed by *before* I found and signed this!
This one didn't exactly match the satellite photo, but there weren't too many hiding places available at GZ. Thanks Geocaching Victoria for this series.
I really am hopeless sometimes when it comes to caching. I have a geotoddler who is all about the swaps. She was SO excited to see a stamp in the cache (she also loves stamps) and I was very close to swapping it out when I remembered that this was a letterbox cache. Very embarrassing... Note to self - never swap a stamp out of a cache. Thanks for the hide - it took us a little while for some reason, but we got there in the end.
Couldn't find anything initially at the indicated GZ, but then read a few past logs and widened my search a bit and found it 10m away, on the opposite side of the path.
Thankfully the chilly morning meant not many muggle cyclists were passing by, as I did the retrieve, signed the log, visited a trackable, stamped my notebook then put all back as found.
Thanks for the cache, and for a spot of tram-watching, Geocaching Victoria.

Having had a few days out of Melbourne along the "Great Ocean Road" it was back to the city to make the most of the last few days, and for Mrs Dragon just that one extra shopping experience.
We love the vibrancy of Melbourne and Victoria in general and as such trips back here are not infrequent.
Today was the day Mrs Dragon said that I could go off and play as she intended to get in some serious retail therepy. So not being one to look a gift horse in the mouth I hired an electric bike from down near the Yarra and headed out to collect a few along the Parkville Loop. Making the most of the Bike trail and the caches along here, thanks for the placement

I was over this side of town today to try a few caches and sweep up some of the Parkville series that I hadn't got around to previously. I was here last year but in hindsight it seems the cache may have been MIA at that time. After some finds on another trail I made a small diversion to see if I could knock this one off the list. My GPS still left me a little puzzled here but a bit of geosense and some searching and I was pleased to turn up the cache this time. My 7th find of thirteen for the day. Thanks for the letterbox cache Robmc and to Geocaching Victoria for organising and placing this great series of Parkville caches.

I took the 3 day's off over easter and anzac day and was keen for a bike ride after returning from the Mega in Canberra a couple of days ago. So since a lot of the Parkville puzzles had been sitting here waiting to be found. I had been down here and found a couple of random ones previously but ran out of time. Being a week day it was a bit quieter than normal on the weekend when I normally get to ride around so most of the searches were uninterrupted.
This is the third time I have been past here but both of the last times it was muggled. Today, finally a nice easy find. Nice to turn the blue frown on this trail into a yellow smiley like the others.
Thanks Geocaching Victoria for the cache, the adventure, the hunt and the fun.

Found while out for a bike ride and also made the most of grabbing a few caches while l was at it. No problem locating this one, just had to wait for a couple of passing muggles but otherwise a nice quick park and grab. Thanks Geocaching Victoria for the Letterbox cache.
Some free style caching by stealth bike today chasing random caches with favorites and a few others in between. Quick find here. Thanks to Geocaching Victoria for the placement and fun.
#6781. I was over in Melbourne for a few days attending a workshop and decided to stay on over the weekend to pick up a few more geocaches. I was staying at a motel on Mount Alexander Rd so this cache wasn't too far away. I normally ignore most letterbox caches when travelling overseas as they are often a multi or puzzle cache in blue disguise and take a lot of time to solve. However I was close to this one so read the description and was pleased to see it was a traditional form of letterbox. Wandered over to GZ and looked around. Nothing at first. Was thinking it might be on other side of the railway line and I would need to drive around there when I checked one last spot and there was the cache. Signed the log and replaced the cache as found. Thanks Wiser than Owls for the cache.

Was working on the Parkville Tram Multi. Since I am a big tram fan, this was a must stop! Thanks for taking me here!
What a great spot for tram spotting. Not much movement on a Sunday arvo but that also meant caching was easier with few muggles about. Nice quick find.
I had been redundant from my job of 29 years yesterday and this morning my first day of being unemployed I still couldn't get to sleep in. I was on the train early for a morning course . Now I have a few hours to kill before I am having a farewell dinner with my old workmates. Best way to kill time walk to where your having dinner and cache your way there
It's great to grab a letterbox while on the trail I still need a few more for a challenge cache.
Thank you Wiser than Owls

I've found very few letterbox caches, so it's nice to add another to my collection. TFTC on a productive late-night caching run.
We soon found this cache once at Ground Zero while out on a nice long geocaching hike. We signed the log book and then replaced as found. Thanks so much for the cache and greetings from Zimbabwe
I enjoyed my travels in the inner north yesterday so I decided to repeat them again except do a little more on foot. For some reason I thought there might be another interstate challenge out there that requires a letterbox on every given day of the week. I couldn't find it again but I thought I might as well pickup this letterbox just in case.
Quick find which was good given the number of muggles on bikes zipping through here after work.

This one took me a second look but I am proud to say I got it!
I spent a lot of time on the way down (traveling south) along this trail. And the hint told me what to do, but still I spent time looking (incorrectly) near the train tracks. I know, I know, the hint told me not to do this. But there i was anyway.
Alas I couldn't find it.
So I traveled southward, got some other caches to boost up my confidence again, and then came back toward ground zero and looked again. So if the hint says "X", perhaps I should follow "X" instructions... AHA there it is. Got it!
Stamp is inside. Signed the log, took and left nothing. See photo for proof. A quick avenging, but an avenging nonetheless!
This is my 390th cache in Australia and the tenth on this trip to Australia. Australia is second place all-time on my country list, behind the United States, Australia is ahead of Hong Kong, Japan, Canada, China, Brazil, Netherlands, Czechia, Spain, New Zealand, Italy, Malaysia, Macau, Thailand, Mexico, and Singapore.

Catching up with late logs
Heading in to town to have dinner with our daughter we arrived a little early so we decided to grab some caches while we were waiting.
We are slowly making our way through the Parkville caches, hopefully we will find them all before The St Arnaud event. With three of us looking two were able to search while one kept an eye out for pesky muggles and not too long after we were adding our name to the log.
There were a lot of trams here going in and out but they weren't a problem either.
Thanks Geocaching Victoria for the cache

A quick and easy find for lochb, G' of GJMMelb and I as we parked in the only bit of shade nearby and walked back to GZ where I spotted the hide immediately (as I suspect did the others). TB dropped, one discovered in the logbook, TFTC
The next closest cache was a muggle magnet as two cars were there and even after multi returns in the hope they'd moved on we had to leave that one for another day... :-\

Melbourne, Day 2: Capital City - Upfield - Moonee Ponds Creek Trails
Started off today by renting a bicycle to take me around the trails of the city. Bike shop opened at 10 am, and I was already waiting outside for a bike. Got what I needed and headed off down the Yarra to the route planned for today. Today’s weather was great for cycling and picked up plenty of caches along the way, most predominantly from the Parkville series. Thanks for all the caches put out for the occasion and the lovely little brain teasers, too.
The following is the specific log for each cache:
Another nice and simple little Letterbox picked up on my cycle North. All I had to do was uncover the right spot. All good here, TFTC!

On my three weeks’ leave in Australia I should like to see many of interesting things, a great nature also many animals unknown as well as known.
The distances are so huge, so we drive only one week by car and have three national flights.
I start in Melbourne then drive the Great Ocean Road to Adelaide, perhaps the Kangaroo Island, flight to Alice Springs to see the Uluru from there, two day camping in the outback,
flight to Cairns the Great Barrier Reef and flight to Sydney to see the Fireworks at Sylvester on the Harbour Bridge.
It is a busy plan, I hope it works.
I plan to make not so many caches I like, because the time is very short to make it all, LOL.
Many apologies for the unit log.
I say thank you to all the cache owners for maintenance.
Greetings from South Germany.

Headed out tonight with Trailstevo on one of our Sunday evening walks. Covers around 10-11km tonight starting at Parkville and heading north along the train line. This was the last trail from the parkville series that we hadn't walked yet, not that we had found all the others. It just means that now we have a mess of scattered DNF's,unsolved puzzles, 1/2 done multi's etc... So a few more adventures to come yet. Thanks to all the CO's for there efforts with the hides and maintaining them. It was a very peasant evening.
After a few weeks away, back to Parkville with Gunks for another night of caching. A walk up to Coburg along the railway line, some wildlife spotted including some dodgy muggles. Found all we searched for apart from one. TFTC

I have two days in Melbourne before heading home on Tuesday. To start the day I caught an early morning train from Flinders Street at 6 O’Clock (5:54) to Coburg and walked along the cycle path and then through the reserve running parallel to Brunswick Rd to St Georges Rd from where I caught a No:11 Tram back to the city ( which actually turned out to be a bus replacement and a 109 Tram due to track reconstruction work). Really enjoyed the walk and the caches I found along the way. Cheers and TFTC

Day 8 of our epic 12 day / 10 night trek to the Parkville Mega in Melbourne.
The constant was my travel companions for the entire trip, - Anymules and S.A. Sewer Rats but we were joined by almost local cacher Bushfire once in Melbourne. So to save space in the logs we usually just wrote our initials BABS to save space.
Today we were back where we finished on the Merri Creek Trail and any others in the vicinity. [^] Then it was back on the bikes for a ride along Upfield trail behind our digs in Sydney Road. [8)]
Interesting place to stop and see both the trams and the trains!
**Thanks Wiser than Owls for this cache. **

Down from Canberra for the Parkville Mega and this one was on the trip for today. Bike riding on a normal bike is not the best idea but we managed it nicely. Lovely to be out and about and enjoying the beautiful day. Out with Kittykatch, Smittengranny and Grimraider enjoying the visit to Melbourne.
Accompanied with crank1, Pwala & Kangas11 during the Mega Weekend- 16 Nov to 18 Nov.
We enjoyed search, found and signed the log as "C.P.K.E" [^][^]
The weather just excellent during the mega...

This was our turn around point before we started heading south back to the car again to get some more goals for the day completed. We mainly just wanted another letterbox find along here! Not too sure about this one though, seems more just like a bit of a throwdown at the base of a fence in a bit of a strange/dirty location. Oh well a letterbox it is, thanks for the cache!
Happen to be in Melbourne for work and timers it to work with the Mega weekend. Extended my stay for the event.
Headed out this morning to grab a few more caches before heading into the mega again.
Wiser than Owls, Kyzabra found your cache Parkville Letterbox 3 - Tram Depot, on 18/11/18. The cache is in good shape and we replaced it as found. Thanks for placing this and bringing us to this spot!

The Bromance of Crookedpete, Swellerfungus and Seffnjarah were off to Melbourne for a long weekend road trip from Brisbane, with the main aim of attending the Parkville Mega as well as collecting a number of caches on our rather lengthy hit list. The extensive number of challenge caches in town was a particular focus of our attentions for the weekend and this letterbox nicely broke up the run of challenges we had been finding. No problem with the find here. TFTC
Found on the Parkville mega event round trip. This cache added to the experience.
Thanks Wiser than Owls. and clear skies from TeamAstro. [^] Cache the planet!
Found on a walk around the area whilst attending the Parkville Event.
An easy find at GZ.

Many thanks to Kittykatch for organising the hire of bikes for us to use today during the Parkville Mega. It took us a while to get started but we had a beaut day riding along some of Melbourne's extensive bike trails collecting smilies as we went.
Huge thanks to everyone involved in organising the event and those who placed caches which added so much to the Event.
All logs were either signed, SG KK Joolay and GrimRaider or Capital Crunchers which applies to us as a group at this event.

Out with TheRobbos3266 today with our main aim to complete the letterbox game which we began yesterday after we had finished finding all the lab caches. This one now completes our 5 letterbox game challenge. I had looked, no I’d searched for this one in the company of several others after the BBQ event a while ago but there was no sign of it then so great to have an easy find today TFTC Geocaching Victoria
Mega time, we packed the bikes and headed south for a weekend of caching, company and
lychee beer.
Day 2 and we headed down the Merri Creek trail collecting a few caches along the way with Robmc and BettyBoo.

We had this mad idea this morning that we should attempt to get all the letter boxes today. However, you know what they say about poor planning! Grabbed a few but did not complete the set. This one was all good though! Tftc!
Not near train lines - I should have paid attention. TFTC a letterbox - not many of these I do have
In Melbourne for the Parkville Event. Teamed up with Georode again today and we finished off the puzzles and challenges we parked and walked around the lot. Completed in good time and headed back to camp for a late lunch and to finish off the lab caches. An absolutely huge two days but heaps of fun!
Found It!
A quick find here - this ended up been the only letterbox of the series that I found today...

Apologies for the generic log below:
Away for the weekend with Freddo and Davidwazza to the Parkville Mega.
My first mega that I had attended and I had a really enjoyable time.
Some of the log books were signed with my name others were signed with just a G part of the group name, a combination of KBJGD.
We were happily joined by KB who was a machine finding a lot of the caches.
Thanks to the CO for all the placement of caches, the earyh caches answers will be sent in the coming days also.
We were very successful in finding majority of caches but some we DNF.

A quick and easy find which was good as I was challenging myself to get as many different hides as I could in one day of caching. This was the 5th and glad it was an easy letterbox.
Thanks for the fun
Thanks for the fun
I'm in Melbourne for a few day's with Horsesrule1990, heading to the event and to pick up as many caches as possible. Once the Melbourne Mega rapes up we will head to the Gold Coast , for a few day hitting all the fun parks. Then heading back to Western Australia, and back to Work. Would like to thank everyone for there caches and there effects hiding then for us to find.all Tftc.??
I had a great time in Melbourne during the event and awesome company. JACS team and i planned our rounds to tackle all those challenge and Victoria map caches thoroughly. Without having a bike it was quite important to do good team work to get the two series done in about 5h each day of the weekend.
Thanks a lot to the Victorian geocachers to create another great event with awsome trails of geocaches.
