Wow, this is amazballs!Definitely enjoyed finding it and signing the log. Thanks Gorby for the fun and a FP from me Find#195
That was such a great cache! Kids loved it and one of their favourites!! Definitely worth a FP
Got the bike out today to avenge some DNFs along here, and grab the new ones that have popped up! We parked in Waterview, and planned to go till Lincoln road, or till the rain started. We only made it to rosebank road before the rain came in! Had to avenge this DNF! I cant believe I didnt get this last time!!!TFTC!
I loved this cache , i can see the effort and creativvity. such a apecial cache , tftc
Dropped mr 16 at the nearby pump track and headed for a wonder in the maybe rain! No fear of muggles today! TFTC very cool and fav point from me.
Wow! Absolutely amazing cache! Love this idea!We need more caches like this! Thank you for making our day:)+ favourite point
Love it. Worth several fav points for the work that has gone into it. I thought it was broken but thought I would try something & it worked.
New E-Bike and what better way to try it out then down this cycle path Cache was much more interesting than I initially expected, favorited and TFTC!
Awesome. Was out for a ride so stopped to take a look. Took my brain a beat to figure it out. Nice! Forgot my pen though. Will sign later.
Love it, great take on this style of cache, everything worked as intended. Took a while to click how it all worked, but a great cache in general.Favourite here. All in good condition too!
#13,978. Todays mission was to walk from Waterview to Te Atatu bridge and back, 10km in the hot summer sun. Yep madness is in the genes. Not as mad however as the men's rugby league team walking the same stretch carrying large wooden poles, full 20 litre water containers, rock filled ammo cans, large tractor tyres and heavy metal cages. They looked hot and buggered each time I passed them. It was very dry and thirsty out here today. I ran into Gorby up the other end on his electric bike. Very helpful to get some hints and help finding several I had missed on the way heading NW.I had to walk past this one on the way north as two cyclists were resting right at GZ having snacks and drinks. As it was my last find to do on the walkway I asked the CO about it but he said nope you are on your own. He then proceeded to watch my fumbling attempts. Fortunately I spotted the main hide quickly and had some parts in hand. But what to do next? I was going to try a tool I had in my bag but its not needed. The CO indicated what was needed. It was at this time I recalled a similar cache I had done in Nelson but had completely forgotten to learn from it seems. Anyway much to my delight and the CO's the container was soon in hand and signed. Replaced everything as found. Thanks Gorby for hiding the cache here. Another favourite coming from me. Such a clever and well executed cache.
I decided to do get on my e-bike and do routine maintenance on most of my motor way caches, I wish I chose a day that wasn't so unbearably hot! Got a fair bit sunburned and was quite glad to get home, put on the air con, consume a cold wine and a few sandwiches. I replaced most of the caches with new paper (only where necessary). This was a lot of fun, first time I have watched (on this hide) a fellow cacher (GSEL) try to find the hide, oh... the pressure when the C.O is watching...lol.
I found this back in December but never got to logging it. What a great cache! We had to use our brains for this one. The reason I could not log it was because I did not have premium at the time but my name is in the log. Favorite point well deserved! TFTC
#11076:8.30am. A charming and clever cache, which made me smile. There was nothing too mind-bending at GZ, which is good because I'm not great with field puzzles.I already owe a couple of favourite points (as the CO reminded me later in the day!), but Gorby can sleep easy tonight knowing he'll get them soon enough. TFTC.
I don't restart work again until the 8th of Jan. With free accommodation I decided a geocaching holiday in Auckland was a good way to spend this week off. Most of the week I geocached with Yvettetb but the beginning and end I was on my own. Tuesdays focus area was around the Orakei Basin area and Saint John's. Wednesday we ended up caching in the Waitakeries and finished up in Glen Eden, New Lynn and Waterview. Thursday we geocached around Blockhouse Bay, Green Bay and Titirangi. Yesterday we decided to finish off a few out here before Yvettetb had to leave. I then cached around the Panmure Basin and the new subdivision Stonefields. Today I was alone and walked the cycle trail between Waterview and Te Atatu. It was a bit of a damp morning at times. This one was really cool. I had seen one like it in New Plymouth many years ago so I knew what to I had to do to sign the log. Thanks for the fun and different hides along this trail
This one was really cool, done with the little cacher who now has his own account. TFTC
Day 2: The Northwestern TrailOur second day in Auckland was shaping up to be another wet and sordid one, but I was hardly going to let the early summer weather rain on my parade. So, after dropping my sister off at United, I was dropped off at Te Atat South to begin my adventure for today. Despite being a power trail, there was such a great variety of caches, that it really didnt feel like one at all. Despite passing showers, I thoroughly enjoyed the effort put into the construction and camouflaged. Thanks for everything - this is why one of the reasons why I keep returning to NZ for geocaching!(End of cut and paste bit)Specific log for this cache:This was a really fun one, and admittedly, I almost messed this one up big time if not for my persistence in trying to rectify my error despite the lack of suitable tools. I am not going to reveal what happened out of sheer embarrassment- but rest assured, the cache is in perfect condition. I really nice twist on a classic idea - I am glad the rain finally stopped when I got here, because the fatigue must have gotten to me and my brain was clearly not working at 100%. I got the cache in the end and all was well. Lovely idea, TFTC!
Took a moment then voila! Very clear hides along the bike/walking trail. Signed log
Found it, had a few dramas but all good nowBest geocacher I've seen in a long timeCheersSteveo
Found while out enjoying the cycle path this morning. Easy to locate, probably took me to long to work out what I was fishing for! Something different, worth a FP. Thanks
400th cache! And what a banger this one is too. Very clever design; it is caches like these that make geocaching so enjoyable. TFTC
Loved this one. We're always up for a puzzle and this one didn't disappoint. Thanks so much!
On a walk on our last Sunday before we fly north into.fall and winter. May be our last caching day and it is not raining tftcH. Mm ma y steel the idea when I get homw
M25/M14: finally solved it. A nice creative cache that is definitely worth the favorite points it already has. Another fp given here.Tftc.
Amazing cache I went fishing anyway and caught me a FOUNDER TFTC and have my favourite point
Back at the game after a bit of a lapse while we found new scooters, we explored the Waterview-Avondale connection and came back up here to admire the Motu Manawa, and visit this cache. There was a large (30+) gang of muggles on bikes so we had to be careful- put my hand on the cache almost immediately when at GZ, and spent a few mins figuring out the mechanism. Lovely one again Gorby, well earned favourite point. We only had a pencil today so our signing was a bit rough but 10/10.
I started today with a walk along the section of the cycleway. I started at the Waterview Reserve and went as far as Rosebank Road. Then retraced my steps. Everything went to plan, the round trip took me just on two hours to walk the 6.90 km for 17 finds. A good variety of hides. All in all a top notch caching experience.
Didn't take long to work things out here.
Cheers and TFTC

There was something fishy about the surroundings… broke the no fishing rule and cast a line. Logbook in good condition. Thanks for your efforts in making and maintaining this one - deserving of a FP!

No expense was spared in getting this repaired and up and running, a few very minor touch-ups yesterday and a few other days, and today she's back in business! Pleased about that.
Good to go people, cache a little bit different now, from when I first built it, at least internally. Outside I have repainted it, shiny, black and brand new looking, please take with it!
Absolutely gutted to not see this cache here. Granddad was here and really wanted to go fishing. Hope it is full of bait again soon.
Today I discovered someone has deliberately forced another tube of plastic inside the mechanism, making sure the cache can't be removed, but alas to you the culprits, I have have removed it. If you little s...s are able to read this, this is deliberate sabotage. But you will be 'happy' to know I could repair it easily. Good luck on your next attempt,
Thanks rustynz for sending me fotos of this cache in tatters. the pole is NOT supposed to be removed. I know why it was, some idiot dropped the bison inside the tube without doing it properly. If you do it wrong, for goodness sake tell me so I can fix it, don't try to cover up your mistake. Act like an adult.
Couldn’t quite figure this one out. I got part of the way, but didn’t know what to do next.
Ditto Larph’s comments. I guess a return journey is now called for. Perhaps fishing conditions will be more favourable then.
No luck today.
I got to stage 3 then got stuck. I need different TOTT. Reading other logs a chain is mentioned. Is it supposed to be there?
Next time.......

Not happy with this at all after finding the 'rod' to not go fishing. The fish weren't biting...I'd like to think the rod was defective but I've never had luck with fishing and I'm thinking the 'fish' sensed it.
M24: I feel like something is jammed inside the contraption, cause I haven't been able to progress through this one.
Even with liljap.

Cache wa easily spotted, but hard to figure out what to do... First impression was that the log was missing. Oh no, it's not as easy as that. Figured out a way to find and sign the log.
Cool cache.

Out cycling off the mornings Easter buns and nabbed this on the way. Cache may have eaten too many Easter treats as retrieval was challenging due to tight fit and potentially having been returned a bit too far but we managed it have replaced so hopefully next fishercacher has a better go of it. TFTC.
335. Out this morning completing this trail. We located the container quickly but a discussion was made on how to get the log. Took a few ways to find the log. Loved the cache and obviously a FP. TFTC
Another intriguing Gorby hide. Watched some kayakers while tried to work out just where to fish. TFTC
This one has 53 (now 54) favourite points for a reason. I spotted this immediately and once the coast was clear I was able to figure it out quite quickly. Nicely constructed. I do like caches like this. Even though some can be tricky, they are not messy or dirty. Thanks and well done!
**#14,814**
A neat cache idea, got to GZ ok and then did spend a bit of time pondering what to do, I had read the hint note so no need to assume the log was missing, aha, now we are in business, baited the hook and cast the line, bingo a nice big fat juicy log.......
Worthy an add to the Fave's.

Took a few minutes to see what was required and bingo - I had the cache in hand. What a great idea. TFTC.
I really enjoyed figuring this one out, wasn’t too hard, but it definitely took me a few minutes! Well done!
Thanks!
Thanks!
Checked up on this one too, all good here. No one has said they have found it and actually not done so, so no deleting of logs today.
Hauled up a big one! Definitely a favourite, left hungry for more caches with Peter and Vince
I left home planning to just walk to the supermarket...but then realised that WP1 for a multi along the cycleway was less than 100m from me, so I went and sorted that...then wondered if I could walk to WP2 as well... long story short, I ended up all the way at WP5 and decided that's quite far enough. By that point I was pretty close to this cache so walked the extra 70ish metres to find it. Definitely adding a FP for this one, it wasn't too tricky but did require some thinking to get the log signed, and I hadn't seen anything like it before. I'll be back for the rest of the cycleway caches another day as I've walked a long way today already... TFTC!!
Yay I found it a little while ago but didn’t fully complete it so came back out with my daughter and completed it! Signed and put back TFTC
My phone decided to make this one a bit harder, and the gps jumped around quite a bit. Found the first part of the cache without any problem once we had got the gps to settle down. But finding the cache really made us fish around a bit.
Clever cache, just enough to keep our attention.

A really great cache and one that made us think outside the box. Mrs GELY57 worked out the solution and after signing the log replaced as found. Another fav point from us.
Kids got there first on scooter, found the location but not the log. Mum arrived and soon had it in hand!
got ya! The last time, Mr Flax4 went fishing but obviously didn’t land it legally so this time the Mrs got it despite the No fishing sign. log signed successfully, tftc Gorby
Easily the cache of the day and well deserving of its large number of FPs. I took it steady and carefully and had the log in hand in no time. Can see why its a no fishing zone here, is screams fish me, fish me!
Headed out a little early from work tonight and was keen to progress my work on fmz's Adventure Lab series. I managed another 2 in that series as well as making a healthy dent in the motorway side trail from gorby et al, thanks guys. A good evening for caching with reasonable temperatures and low wind speeds, t f t c all COs.

Great day for a bike ride with Vistra & AliGle, with our main aim to complete the Adventure Lab from Mangere to Westgate. With cars parked at both end wen rode from Avondale through the Oakley Creek track and up the North Western cycle way. All logs signed as VAK to save space. Thanks for the cache. Figured out the cache pretty quickly, love these ones
We found the cache but there is no log ...... Just kidding!! We have this same design cache in Napier and we get those sort of logs all the time. Sick of going and checking it to find its still in perfect order people just can't read the description properly!! Love the cache a fav from us.
Thanks for placing the cache Gorbygorbachov.
Find number 4486.
Log signed b&p.

I am not accepting logs on this cache unless they are signed, the least you could do is send me a photo to prove that you have been here if you do not have a pen.
Pretty cool hide. Fav from me. I’m not the greatest fisherman but managed to land a catch here!

Nice find with woolwood9 today.
*We enjoyed the drive / walk around the area.*
Stamped logs as tm/ww NZ which may just look like a black smudge on plastic logs!
*Another good pretty quick find on a busy day hunting caches.
We were surprised at how many scooters there were on the path - some of them were pretty impressive and faster than the e-bikes!
We really enjoyed the big series of caches along the North-Western motorway walkway / cycleway.*
TFTC
I assure you our stamp is on the proper logsheet. Very nicely constructed. ww9 had never seen a cache like this and was very impressed!

Thanks to the Co for his understanding and help

**PLEASE NOT NOT PUT PAPER IN THE TUBE! IF YOU ASSUME THE CACHE IS EMPTY IT WILL SURELY MEAN YOU HAVE NOT FOUND IT PROPERLY.**
A nice quick find today. Well, part 1 was a quick find. (maybe should be a multicache?).
I signed the log that was in the container but have since found out that this is NOT the cache. Ah well, I was in a bit of a hurry.
Chaged the log to a NOTE and will return for the proper cache another Christmas..
Cheers

Well I got this one totally wrong. On opening I found the chain but assumed the log had gone. But later in the day I was put right in that I had not completed all the necessary requirements. So can the next finder please remove the temp log I put in and throw it away. And I will have to come back and do it right.
I don't know how people can be so rough with this cache! Where is the chain for goodness sake? It was attached to the lid and the lid is still there! Never mind, I can fix this easily enough.....
Made an ultra hard job of this one. Had to get a nudge in the end. Turned out cache was all but impossible to retrieve & it was pure luck we got it! Have returned it so it should be easier for next person.TFTC
