I enjoyed the history of a pie safe. How great to know where your first ancestor is buried. The cache was an easy find and in good condition. Thanks Eskies
Final spot on our little adventure. Great bit of history and we noted a street named like the Cache owners not too far away. Tftc!
Absolutely beautiful road on the way here. It's funny seeing old graves next to a lawn cemetery full of newish graves.

Continuing my journey home, enjoying the back roads along the way. This cache was quckly located and the log signed. TFTC
A North Queensland road trip of 2.5 weeks had Team Warren consisting of jesswrigley, 15-month baby and I, spend a Cairns Christmas with family, followed by a coastal drive back to Brisbane, marking a total distance of 5728 km.
Departing on 21/12/2022, Dad and I took the expedited drive north via Toowoomba, Roma, Emerald, and Chartered Towers. During our Cairns stay, we visited Green Island, inner Cairns and the lagoon, Port Douglas, and Atherton Tablelands. We then commenced our drive back from 28/12/2022, making stops in Mission Beach, Townsville, Ayr, Airlie Beach, Cape Hillsborough, Mackay, Rockhampton, Yeppoon, Gladstone, Seventeen Seventy, Bargara, Bundaberg, Childers, Harvey Bay, Maryborough, Gympie, and Eumundi, returning home on 7/01/2023. Highlights included hiking Walsh Pyramid, visiting Townsville's Museum of Tropical Queensland, seeing the marvels of Capricorn Caves, kayaking Ross Creek, and swimming and frolicking in the many beaches and water playgrounds.
Today, it was an early departure from Brisbane and our first stop was Toowoomba for a morning tea coffee break. We then continued our drive making a strategic stop at Kingsthorpe for an oldie cache, before stopping in Dalby for lunch. An afternoon stop was made in Chinchilla, which included a viewing of Chinchilla Weir. Making a few further stops in Miles, Jackson, and Wallumbilla had us arrive in Roma in time for the Big Rig night show, and then closed out the day checking out the mining town.
Adventure Labs completed today:
• Toowoomba Factories of the Past;
• Chinchilla ~ Watermelon Sugar; and
• Visiting Roma.
An interesting history of the pie safe, and a nicely manicured lawn/facade to this cemetery! It was evident that these back roads don't get travelled too much by Geocachers, with the last find on this geocache some six months ago, but it was nice to give this one some attention today. The cache was a quick find despite its evil size, and the cache container and logbook were in good shape. There doesn't seem to be too many in this cemetery, which perhaps adds to its beauty. Thanks Eskies5 (the modern refrigerator) for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

Found it. Such a Beautiful quiet resting place for all who have left our beautiful Earth
Okay! Let’s talk about this final resting place. Probably one of the most beautifully located cemeteries that I have come across. I usually don’t give these cache types a FP but you really made my day.
Thank you Eskies5 for placing this cache for me to enjoy!

I now know what a Pie Safe is… and I was wondering as I pulled up…
Having left home quite late for a trip up the range I’m trying to be quite selective in my stops today… this was my first stop for day as I make my way to the oldie further up the road…
A nice quick find to start the day… tftc….??

Hey lovely bit of history here for the Esky family. Your own piece of Pie Safe! It’s lovely there is a record of your family history here.
It is always interesting to visit historic cemeteries and reflect on life gone-by.
We signed this with the team, Team Grav (E_Smiley, Chamad, Triple Turmoil, Simber15, willis007 and Nayfee).
Thanks Eskies5

A plan was formed recently to camp at Oakey over the October long weekend (due to Ekka being postponed) and tackle the art and a number of fun puzzles in the vicinity. The call went out to a few others we enjoy travelling with and the solving began! Lots of back and forth between members and we finally had a full set a few days out from the trip.
The roads were wet and muddy but that isn't going to stop a group of dedicated geocachers on a mission! The rain held off which we were grateful for however chunks of mud were often shaken off shoes before returning to cars and moving on to the next one.
As is always the case when caching with others there were many laughs and a great time had by all. Always a great sense of achievement when you've been working through a project over a number of weeks.
Thankyou for placing and arranging this series for our enjoyment. The fields and flowers were in bloom. Birds a plenty enjoying the roadside water sources. The scenery was refreshing. Always enjoy a taste of the countryside. Logs signed as Team Grav (as in Gravel assault!)

On my way home from the QOGM and continuing my outback adventures. Today it was leaving Goondiwindi heading up the Gore Highway to Toowoomba and then a slight detour to Highfields area before a straight drive home to Brisbane. I had a list of caches to collect and places to see, some oldies and some for a grid position.
Next on the list was this one, it was just a short drive from dropping off my buddy. This was a quick find and with the log signed and cache replaced as found I was off to grab another in the area. All good with this one and thank you for the history lesson.

Came to Toowoomba to see a friend who was busy with cpr. So... caching filled in my time.
**Feeling Good Lyrics (Feel Good by Cy Grant 1965)**
Birds flying high you know how I feel
Sun in the sky you know how I feel
Breeze driftin' on by you know how I feel.
Ouh
And I'm feeling good
After yesterday's 53 finds we had an unencumbered and refreshing night's sleep at Yarraman Caravan Park.
Up early to snare a few more smilies before heading back down the mountain.
#16 of 18 found today but we sure covered some kilometres!
An interesting read of the cahe page information & likewise the history of the area.
Pie - safes, fridges, eskies ... I'm getting hungry now!
Super quick find for Mrs VC.
It's dead quiet here which most likely helped.
OOPS!
Dropped half the cache!
Can't see it anywhere ... looking, looking, looking ... AHHH!
It had managed to hide itself among the keys & such hanging on a lanyard around Mrs VC's neck.
Made our mark & replaced as found.

Apologies for the delay...it has been hectic at work. Two days off in the last 35 and 10+hrs a day. I do intend to replace and will endeavour to do so by the end of the year.
Taking the back way into Kingsthorpe we pulled up to grab this cache. Found the bottom of the container but the log and lid was missing. Contacted CO, logging with permission. Tftc

NyssaFlutterby, wombles and co, and I were in Toowoomba for the weekend. It was time to head towards Crows Nest for our final goals for the day, grabbing a few caches along the way.
Parking here I was ready to charge on in when NyssaFlutterby said she didn’t think we needed to go in, and quickly had cache in hand.
Log signed as QQ for all of us (NyssaFlutterby, wombles and co, and I).
Thanks for the cache Eskies5.

Heading for the dam to pick up a nice DT cache with wombles and 1MinnieMoo. Stopping for any caches that were along the way.
Every cemetery should have a cache!
Had to laugh about the link to the name of the cache. Haha!
Thanks for the cache Eskies5

Day 2 of our weekend away, more ups and downs planned with 1Minniemoo and Nyssaflutterby.
Some more caches to find along our way, including this one which was a nice quick find.
We had a giggle at the cache name and description.

Finding was the easy part. Waiting for a break in the strangely consistent traffic going past, that only started once the log was signed, to return it was harder. Tftc
**# 25616** Found on our 2019 winter escape trip to Qld with Mrs Roosta.
A perfect Spring day for a drive around the countryside while at Toowoomba.
Hardly any muggles around and mostly good safe hides.
Thanks for the cache Eskies5,

I wouldn't have noticed this tiny cemetary if it weren't for this cache! Thanks and I grabbed a drink from my own pie safe before continuing.
I was sensing a theme whilst planning a geocaching country drive in this area. This was our first cemetery stop for the day. We said hello to Friedrich and Caroline hoping they were the relatives you mentioned. If not we just said a friendly hello to two people resting in a beautiful location. TFTC
visiting Toowoomba for 5 days House Sitting. Doing caches out in the countryside which I have yet to find. Arrived at GZ and found the cache. Signed the log. TFTC Eskies5
Up in Toowoomba for a few days to collect some caches missed on a previous trip. Today started off showery and windy but did improve through the day.
Thanks Eskies5 for showing us around this area.

Found this with Mum as 'Jess & Caro'. She is now Carø and I now have my own geocaching profile so we are sorting my logs for caches we found together. TFTC!
Had been into town for a bit of shopping and to see a movie about a dragon... and since today has white space in the caching calendar I figured we'd take a detour on the way home and find this cache.
An interesting spot, I don't think I've ever been along this way before... although if I'm following google instructions I tend not to pay attention to what road I am on.
Thanks for the cache, Eskies5!

TFTC which I loved - very cool

What an interesting story in the cache notes. As a small child I would stay with my grandparents and they did not own a fridge either. The had an ice chest and every few days we would go down to the ice works with our grandfather and get a block of ice. Maybe, these evolved after the pie safe. SL TFTC

T-Tech and I participated in the Rural Safari event at Crows Nest this weekend, and our plan for today was to head south to Toowoomba and grab as many as possible of the new caches that have been published since I was last here I hadn't intended to take Pechey-Mclagan Rd, but google maps said that would be the quickest way to get to This CO's Pie Safe cache near Kingsthorpe, and look at that, there's another 3 caches to gather along the way!
It was interesting reading the reason for the odd title of this cache [^] T-Tech very quickly discovered the container. TFTC, Eskies5.

Another day, another early morning out finding a cache or 3 before work. Sound familiar[?]
I am topping up this particular date on my calendar and need a few caches today. A few before work and a few after work.
A quick find here for me this morning. [^]
Thanks for the cache.

Time to visit this area once again and as there a few hides to find this trip then it is well worth it. Left Nanango at 0600 in inclement weather. I love driving I this country as I love country roads and scenery. A little damp but no problem approaching GZ. Parked safe well off road and went for a short walk. Signed log YOF as that is what I use on small and micro log sheets/books to save space on the paper as I tend to write a little on the big side. All good here. TNLNSL TFTC Eskies5
What is to come next, first the pie safe then the esky.....every generation seems to get better and better. Not sure there is anything better than the current Eskies5. Stopped off at this one on the way to work, well I drove passed work made the find and then drove back to work. Very handy having a few new finds around the place to help fill the calendar. A nice quick find once at GZ. TFTC Eskies5
P&G on our way home. Geohubby has to get ready for work, so we didn't stop to look around. Loved the story & name behind this hide! We didn't know what a pie safe was, thanks for teaching us something new & Tftc Eskies5 xo

1.4Km from home.
Whoo Hoo a new cache that I can almost see from Our Selection, damn, can’t remember how to put co-ords in the GPS that I haven’t loaded manually for 8 or 9 years, can’t find it in an online search on the phone, damn need to cook Mrs R-F’s dinner, ah well the cache can wait.
Over dinner I think, hang on, today is Monday, all my PQ’s get done about now, mmm check after dinner, load the latest PQ to GSAK, search for this cache, it is there, load the PQ to the phone, select the cache as I head down the back steps and head for the carpark of the local church. Find out that isn’t the best place to stop but leave the car there and walk to GZ. It is now dark and the headlight I grabbed on the way out the door has a 3 second on then turn off battery life. Getting to where I reckon the cache is get my 3 seconds of light, find and retrieve the cache and head back to the car to fill in the log.
Now I remember why I cringed when I noticed it was a nano, 3 seconds to find, 2 minutes to get the log out, 30 seconds to sign it and 5 minutes trying to roll the log tight enough to go back in the container. The first 3 pens not writing didn’t help my mood but eventual all was good and a FTF goes into the tank of the roaring ford
We took nothing but memories; we left nothing but footprints and our tag.
The hide is excellent, the container is in good nick and the log is in good condition and ready for the next finder.
Ooo and a Fav point because it was so close to home.
Thanks for the cache Eskies5.
Cheers
