A big days walk scooping up whatever caches i can get round, possibly over-ambitious! Always prefer these remote caches so appreciate everyone's efforts to get them out in the wilds. TFTC.Number 4 for the day, left the track too early and got in a pickle on a steep loose slope, then spotted the area to focus on, and sure enough there it was. Spookey place, definitely Bunyips there watching me.....
Date: September 16, 2023 Time: 1:55 PMFind #14175After the CITO and event, I headed out for a walk in the hills.Massive thanks go to Dirtbags Downunder for placing this one.
Had a great day out getting quite a few in the dirtbag series among others. Took me to some great spots with good views.
Big of bush bashing to get to some of them and some good hills to conquer but had a great time.
Some of the cache ideas and containers were really good and placed in great hiding spots.

*Cache find # 14003.*
Today I headed out with biggles1024 to find a few caches and as well a bit of maintenance along the way.
We headed out from Mortimore's reserve on our bikes, making our way further along the track, up and more up we went, we were probably walking more than riding but boy, did it make a great, fast trip but down to the carpark, but before the carpark, we made a stop at the track junction, left the bikes behind and made our way down the track to this one.
Once we were at the right spot, it was then a matter of making our way to the cache, after going up and sliding back down a couple of times, I finally found a better spot for my foot and was able to reach the cache.
**Thanks to Team Smokey-Bear for placing this cache.**

We grabbed this DGS cache as we coasted our way back down to Steve's car. The climb back up the hill to the main track took its toll on me. [B)]

I was back in Bunyip state park for the second day in a row with Tiz13 working on Mortimers Adventure, once we had gathered some more information we decided to tackle a few other caches in the area, Tiz had unfinished business with a Scotsman and this cache was on route. Tiz had filled my head with doubt about My ability to get this one, turned out to be a hop skip and a jump for me.
This was a beautiful location to visit. Hoping to get a few more caches in the area in the coming months.
Thanks Team Smokey-Bear for the cache.

Very goat-y track, super slippery and leech-y in the damp after a lot of rain. Getting to the cache itself was an extra level of slip and slide, and coming back even more interesting - awesome, loved it! Cache in great condition, I was even joined by a lyrebird. The track itself is a bit trashed, lots of debris and trees down. But the ferns are amazing and worth the battle. TNLNSL TFTC
Getting Dirty was not on the agenda today, but redeeming myself from the last frustrating defeat was..the walk to GZ amongst the tall ferns was awesome a bit muddy and slippery but manageable. GZ was typical DGS too easy I thought as I walked in....well if their was a smile on my face it was soon wiped away as I saw 3 possibilities and then my head started ticking and thinking were would they safely stow it. My hopes of it being an easy grab were dashed as I happen to see it. Grr ..were their is a will their is sometimes a way..I carefully made my way to GZ desperately trying not to make the wrong move knowing that if I did I would end up back at square 1... For the last Meter I had no other option but to slide down on my butt in the mud ..I prayed that my decent not end up in disaster..I managed to stop and while holding on for dear life (I guess if I had have fallen the landing would have been soft.) I reached out for the cache...log signed cache replaced for the next warrior. Exit route achieved only a small amount of mud skiing, but I stayed upright. Yippee
PHEW!! Well i certainly got dirty for this one!!! :3
Above all im just happy i scored some booty because i think i broke my booty getting to this cache!! This one got all my adventure neurons firing and despite sliding and slipping, rolling and falling, once i saw the glisten of the cache i was filled with the might of a thousand cachers all at once. Fav point here because i had alot of fun getting it!! (No snakes here too )

This was an interesting one to get to. Steep and slippery. I used the hint in the description under "Final". Good sized container, and a pleasant "Irish" colour! And the goodies inside - Wow! My main difficulty was staying in place on the slippery mud while signing the log. Definitely an adventure and much appreciated.
Out with my bush walking club hoping to pick up a couple of caches on the way. Seeing that reception is so poor here especially under so much coverage a hint would go well here. That i if you really want people to find it. Searched for a while but to many options without guidance.
Went for a walk in the Bunyip hills with 999Hunter & my brother.
Had a laugh when my brother almost fell off the rock. He is ok though
Thanks for the cache

So pleased that this little Gully survived the fires completely unscathed.
This is just such a lovely area.
Kids had fun exploring, except when 999HK slipped down the muddy embankment, and Son2 when he tree he was holding onto on top of the rock broke and he fell off it. Good reflexes caused only muddy clothes.
Thanks
Hunter

After walking thru the burnt Forrest from above we came down into this little valley to find it had escaped the fire

The area is still closed off to the public and National Parks are keeping it closed possible as late as March , a few cachers are in direct contact with the local Parks guys and cannot give us any exact dates
Found whilst out looking for 4wd tracks . My first Dirty cache. Nice easy one as we had my mates little girl with us who we told we were going treasure hunting . How funny n apt when this came up . Thanks for a taste of a Dirtbag cache

Well it would seem that I'm developing a taste for dirtbag caches. When the opportunity arose to go for a hike and into dirtbag territory I jumped at the chance. I made the climb up to this one but someone beat me to the find.

Ah yes another day out chasing dgs caches and just to increase the difficultly it is wet and muddy. Just how a dirtbag likes it. So we set off and through an amazing hidden grove which will definitely be coming back to. The more I investigate this part of the world the more I like it. The scenery, the sounds and the wildlife. Nothing beats this for living
Thanks Team Smokey-Bear for an amazing location and cache

Saw this one pop up and thought I’ll grab it while out hiking for the day. Like other DGS’s in this area a had a few close calls, but after a scramble and a few slides, the cache was in hand and I kicked back at the GZ for a few minutes and watched the lyrebird scratch away in the dirt only 2 metres from me without a care in the world.
This cache got released at the worst time for me, just about to head out to sport. It had nothing to do with the terrible weather that I didn't want to go out in.
Today after doing some cache maintenance in Gembrook I had enough time to come look for this one.
I knew the area, having already used this small path as a short cut to get caches. Parked and started running up the path until it got too slippery. Then saw a nice large lyrebird on the path. The closer I got to ground zero, the muddier it got. I remembered the area from last time I was here, and guessed where it would be hidden and after a small muddy scramble, quickly saw the cache without looking at the GPS once. Had to be very careful to get the cache, without slipping down the hill.
A lovely DGS park and grab for the day. Really should have changed out of my good shoes before the adventure however.
Thanks for the cache Dirtbags Downunder and Team Smokey Bear.
