Staying at Mt Gambier, we decided to take a trip to Millicent today. I did the sister cache in Penola a couple of days ago, so I knew exactly what I was looking for. I love a nice bold cache like this one.
We are on a caravanning trip around Australia seeing the sights and finding a few caches along the way. Today we stopped in town and went for a walk, some great artworks around town. It would be tricky for me to get bit my partner managed just fine. Thanks for the cache
Travelling with richlink on our Annual Caravan Geocaching road trip, using geocaching as our guide. We have just arrived at Millicent, and decided to head out to find an AdventureLab or two, and a few caches we pass as we go. Thanks for placing this cache. LNCU.
Travelling with iluvtrekking from our home state of WA on a SA caching foray. Moving from Warrnambool to Millicent today and picking up some finds along the route. 5 pm perfect timing. Thanks for the hide. LNCU
Staying in Millicent for the weekend. Found the cache but had to find the right moment to get it. TFTC.
Found at 11:33 AM GAFF3.While waiting for c-pprass to pick up a few items at the local IGA, I headed over for a what I thought was going to be a quick find, but the GPSr took me to the other side of the road and of course there was nothing there. Back to the other side and gosh for a T of 1.5 you certainly have to be above average tall!Interesting that this is really just the only set of traffic lights between Mt. Gambier and Murray Bridge on the Princes Highway - is this road considered part of the Princes Highway? Thanks to iml72
On a road trip from Melbourne to Adelaide. Our first visit to South Australia.A stop in Millicent was on the list with the Geoart and Challenges available being a magnet.Tough to spot and then waiting for the right time to make the grab.TFTC
I'm short, so not even a good stretch helped me. So I did what I always do, I found a stick.Tftc
Quick enough to find, but hard to be discreet in the middle of this hive of activity!
Adelaide to Hobart Road Trip
Day One: Adelaide to Millicent.
Weather: Deteriorating.
Last cache of the day before heading back to the caravan park. Rain is setting in now. This is one of those apart-height (remember that Goodies episode?) caches, and at 180cm I just scrape in. A frog showed up to watch me sign the log - clearly approving of this weather.
Thanks for this hide iml72.
It’s officially a mega.

30,960. Found with minniek, albida33, Sol de lune, smittengranny (signing either as FAMSS or MAFSS to save room and just for fun). After the hordes around Rutherglen it was good to drop down to a group of 5.
Rutherglen Mega and South Australia Trip Day 10. Today was another great day for our little group - the last day the 5 of us will cache together for a while - caching around the Millicent region. We finished up chasing higher D/T caches, as well as some great forest drives and other caches along the way. Awesome. Quick find once at GZ after dinner nearby. Signed, replaced, then we headed off back to the camp ground.
Thanks iml72 !!

Day 10 of our loop through Vic and SA then home.
Today fitzy_1965 and I again joined albida, Sol de lune & smittengranny. We signed as MAFSS to save room. Some of us may have rebelled and signed FAMSS instead.
We started the morning later than normal as we caught up with a couple of local cachers. Was great to share a cuppa with hevwalker and scramping! But all too soon we had to get going.
Our aim was to clear out as many caches between Millicent and Tantanoola. All caches were found quickly and easily unless otherwise mentioned.

Southern Autumn adventure Day 11. Post Mega South East SA trip Day 5. Today was the last day with our team all together Fitzy_1965, Albida33, MinnieK, Sole de Lune & Smitten Granny and logs were signed as FAMSS or similar. We went to the south of Millicent to target some high D/T caches and some interesting clusters of caches on forests. After a wet few days, the weather was much better and we had a great time. We ended the day with a meal together in one of the Millicent Hotels and a cache just outside the door of the pub.
After dinner, as we headed back to the car we just had to stop and have a look for this one. It was nt where we first looked, but it was in the most likely spot.
Thanks for the cache iml72

Day 3 of the 5 amigos caching in this area. A much more relaxed start to the day - it was agreed on 9 am as some of the group were catching up with a couple of local geobuddies.
Today we were targeting caches in Tantanoola so we gathered some high D/T caches and some that filled a calendar for some. This was one of the caches we found and our initials were added to the log. As "we" included minniek, Albida33, Fitzy_1965, Sol de Lune and myself Smittengranny logs were signed as MAFSS or FAMSS

TFTC. After a long day on the 2020 trail we relaxed in camp. Then thought to gather some info for a multi. Well that did not work. Sitting at the traffic lights we got out and after a local pulled up we had cache on hand and signed
Quick find & log at 0630 on a chilly Saturday morning. 1st geocache in this great little town after driving 5 hrs last night to rescue a bovine from alien abduction (Snag the Tag for the uninitiated - look into it!). Now back to Melbourne! TFTC️0
Many a trip to Millicent was planned, locked out or down. More recently a plan was hatched for 4 of us to attend but enroute our number dropped to 3 which meant so re shuffling and re prioritising.
We (PPE and Crash 2079) held our own event, Grumpy Over Millicent or better known in our vocabulary as GOM amongst other TLA’s of the same acronym. It was great to meet some of the locals.
Many an adventure was had with TOTTs of various types. The weather left a bit to be desired with fleeting bursts of sun but mostly wind, over cast and plenty of rain but we still managed to hoist poles and ladders and climb trees.
An after dinner find. Not to be put off by the recent DNF and with some careful looking a quick find wass made.
We completed the signing duties and re hid. TFTC

GOMSs do Millicent - Day 1
After our plans to attend the Mega were cancelled by COVID, the stars finally aligned and saw bella at waggy, Purplepeopleater and myself jetting off early on a drizzly morning. With so many targets on our list, it will be interesting to see how many logs we manage to sign.
After collecting our set of TOTTs from oversized baggage and jumping in the hire car, we headed towards Murray Bridge followed by plenty of stops as we zig zagged our way towards Millicent
We finally checked in and headed into town for dinner. Of course the night wasn’t done yet.
Had a good idea what to look for here and Bella’s sharp eyes were up to the task

Found by Rebel Acts in the company of The Empire.
with it being School holidays in Victoria I had some time spare to head to Millicent where I teamed up with the Empire for a few days caching in the area, we had a fantastic time exploring the area. Today we tackled the Crayfish before chasing a few D/T combos on the SFE trail and the UNAL series, once they were done it was back into town to grab a few before trying out the local Pizza for Dinner.
This is one of the caches found today.

In Millicent for a few days of caching fun! The Crayfish was the first series we wanted to complete this morning. With the cold wind keeping the crowds at bay, we were able to find all of the caches in this series without too many interruptions from the locals. With that series out of the way, we were able to chase some interesting difficulty/terrain combos with the ladder in the back of the Patrol, we smashed out the SFE series now back in Millicent for some more caches before pizza for dinner! Thanks for the cache iml72.

Found on a very cold walk with the students I work with. Luckily the young don’t mind giving each other a leg up. I was with Birdie Starling. We were in the road of a man on the footpath on his bike who got verbally abusive to us which was disappointing but a learning experience for the kids who realised that some people are not nice and have bad days at times.
I went back in daylight today with a taller companion to help me reach the cache, and a pen to log details. We could screw off the lid of the cache but could not extract the scroll, as hard as we both tried. Perhaps we need tweezers?
Found it but being afflicted with Duck’s disease meant I could only look n not touch
Have taken photo as proof of find but don’t want to post it to give away the clue
We are finally able to travel interstate without heaps of loops to jump through. We thought we would take it easy and have a look around South Australia and grab a few more LGA's while we were here.
Stopped here on our way north from Mt Gambier for a look around, and a coffee. it was a quick find (after reading the clue)
This was find number 3 for the day.

We weren’t able to get the lid off, so I’ve taken a photo and will send to the owner.
Thank you again.

TFTC - we couldn’t pull the paper out - so couldn’t sign it! Sorry. Next person might need tweezers?
Quick find saw the tiny cache but was just out of reach for my short little arms
SL at 11:40am. Visiting family in Millicent for the weekend. Easy to find, easy to retrieve, but putting it back took 4 times as long, thanks Muggles! Lots of stealth required so pick your caching times wisely. TFTC!

Day 2 of the Mega and all the carefully laid plans went kaputt. Being involved in the pathtag trading at the showgrounds meant that they missed the massive powertrail attempt. However, instead SpiderMonkey's Mum and the magnificent Muggle Bowerbird teamed up to attempt all sorts of interesting caches, so it worked out much better. This was too much of a stretch for Owl but a new TOTT from the Monkey did the trick. Took a while to get it back though! And the obligatory nano rant...

After dinner at the Grand, I ventured out into the cold and had a look for this one in the dark. While the lack of muggle activity was good, trying to find a black nano in the dark was tricky. I found it using torch light and after a lot of fiddling I had my name in the book. Insert nano rant here......

After dinner at the pub across the road we couldn't leave with this so close. After a long day, it took a bit before we found it.
Last one foe the day, thanks iml72
The Millicent Mega trip had been a long time in the making, for the Tassie trio of stainless steel rat, budgietas and gooseandegg, due to a couple of false starts thanks to COVID19. More and more caches were added to the extensive list as planning was being finalized. We focused on old caches, large caches, certain D/Ts, virtual caches, the On your Bike series and a few other special ones on our journey. Our route saw us caching in Adelaide for a few days before heading north via Gawler to the Barossa in preparation for the On your Bike series, whilst basing ourselves at a gorgeous cottage in Waikerie. We continued on to Renmark for a night before the long trek south to Millicent.
Some of the many highlights along the way were Gawler Fort Knox, Dustin’s Cache, Barossa High and Riverland (the oldest surviving geocache in South Australia).
At the Mega we caught up with a few of our caching friends, made some new ones, and of course missed many who could not make it this time. The weather was not the best in Millicent, and a COVID19 situation in Mt Gambier altered our plans but we had plenty of caches to keep us busy between showers, including tree climbs, plenty of adventure labs, and the entertaining Finding a Fish series - giving the new pole a good workout for the first time.
Thanks to all the CO’s who have placed and maintained all these caches that made our adventure so memorable.

Grabbed this one after dinner at the pub and before we got a slab from the bottleo.
Even with the numbers being down it was great to attend a Mega and at least get to meet some fellow cachers after so long and catch up with a few people, we flew over from Tassie on Thursday and after spending a few days in Adelaide we headed Northeast to clean up some series and then head South to Millicent for the start of the Mega long weekend.
This trip has changed so many times since it was first booked and I'm glad we got to do it at long last, to start with it was just myself and GooseandEgg nipping over for the Mega and then it was a few more days with the addition of 1 toolman, then with lockdown it was back to two of us but then another Tassie cacher in the shape of BudgieTas stepped up to the plate and we were back on for an over a week trip to grab a few caches before the Mega and then finish off with Millicent before flying home on the Tuesday.
Thanks for the cache.

Early in 2021 I received an invite from GoosenEgg and Stainless Steel Rat to join them on a caching trip to the Mega in South Australia. As planning got underway some caches with high Favorite points, very old caches, and the On Your Bike Series were listed as "must-dos"
The trip ended up being 10 days of solid and very enjoyable caching with quite a few highlights. The find count for the trip was around the 950 mark when all GCA, Adventure Lab, and GC caches are included. The high point for finds was a day of 335 finds in the one day, which would have been more, but a sudden storm put the end to caching for the day. No one was interested in getting out of the car to find a cache in a downpour in the dark
We were lucky enough to find Gawler Fort Knox, Dustin's Cache, and my favorite for the trip Barossa High (From 21st of January 2001 with the original log book still in place) all in the one day.
Unfortunately, the caching around the mega was beset by bad weather and the day we had put aside for Mount Gambier was scrapped due to a covid case in Mount Gambier on the previous day, so we avoided the area. We all enjoyed the Fishing series and just managed to get the remaining of these before the light failed for the day.
In the end I managed to completed my D/T grid for the first (and possibly the second time) which was my aim for the year, although some of the D/T combinations were not really achievable in Tasmania without a 3 day overnight bush walk.

We came along today with ilook4geo and jebjeb and having someone with extra height made the retrieval a lot easier. A simple reach up and the cache was in hand. The log was quickly signed by all and was replaced as found.

Apologies for the generic log.
Uni and Medusa, Southern Cross Caching, and I ... shonkylogic spent the October Long Weekend in 2021 attending the Easter 2020 Mega Event at Millicent.
Along the way we stopped to find as many caches as we could - because we somehow convinced our better halves not to accompany us. Or perhaps it was because they really don't like caching as much as us.
We came well equipeed in the Pahero, with not one, not two but THREE TOTTs to help us. Even that wasn't sufficient for all the hides, sometimes you just don't have the right tool for the job.
We enjoyed meeting up with old friends, in these days of Covid is really is very special to be able to hold an event like this.
Thanks iml72 for placing and maintaining the cache

Found at 21:26 during a fantastic extended weekend away with Shonkylogic and Southern Cross Caching. We had grand plans to complete swathes of powertrails and solved puzzles, but the weather slowed us down a bit. Even so, it was a lot of fun, and we passed my goal - to get my 9000th find
Friday, day 1, had us driving and caching from morning in Adelaide until the 6pm event in Millicent.
Day 2 focussed on the fishing series, wine bottle, and numerous other caches in that vicinity.
Day 3 was our slowest, due to the worse weather, but still a lot of fun.
Day four, after doing SFE series and nearby caches, plus those we passed, I arrived home at about 8pm, after finding my 9000th cache along the way.
Great to catch up with many of the usual faces, some others we hadn't seen for a long time, and a few new faces too.
Thanks for the hides

Day 2 of our stay in Millicent for the Mega event. Todays weather was misty and wet under foot all day, not being the best for caching. We picked up all of the GV2020 powertrail caches, made a start on the lobster trails and picked up the loose caches along the way.
140 finds for today and 152 for the trip.
Cache was spotted and retrieved once we were at the right lights, not too many muggles around made for easy retrieval and replacement.
(Insert nano rant here)

After a tasty schnitzel dinner at the Grand Hotel, I walked over and made a quick find. Used my height to my advantage.
Only just managed to extract the logbook from the cache - it’s a tight fit!
Thanks for the cache iml72.

Totally awesome!!
A nice hidey spot
Meandering up the Western Australia coast, the Northern Territory, and South Australia, we have finally arrived down south of SA.
Down the Highway and byways, tracks and trails, the geological, historical, the fun geocaches, traveling this great country through the eyes of a geocacher has lead us to some fantastic outlooks.
Thanks to all the COs for placing these Geocaches, it makes the Adventure more interesting.
We found your cache container, a nice quick find, and with signing duties done and dusted we replaced it as found.
Definitely a favourite point from us

Wow, not many people around until you need to retrieve the cache. Very busy little intersection. Found tonight with Shandyk. Signed log as GuSh. TFTC.

Following dinner (and a chicken salt incident), we wandered down the darkened main street to the Lonely Lights.
GeoNinja and I failed to find out on any of the corners. Then Heymissjo came with Emeylo and GeoBug. That didn't seem to help either.
Fortunately, Millicent was very quiet this cold, damp Monday night.
As soon as HMJ was calling a DNF I finally made the find.
It's easier without muggles, but it's harder in the dark.
Thanks for the fun urban hunt

I originally found this cache with my Mum heymissjo, but now that I have my own account, I am logging. Thanks for the cache.
For the past few years I have cached as part of "team heymissjo", but now I am old enough to have my own account so logging the find. Thanks for the cache.

Out with The Welder and our minis and decided to stop and sign the nearby challenge caches while we are here eating dinner, we thought we would pick this up. Thankfully the Welder made the find.
