After a day of exploring the newly reopened area, I decided to stop and take my.8th?9th.200th?.attempt at this little nemesis. Searched fences, ran my hand under rails, poked at little holesnothing. I just have no idea what this cache is meant to be about.
Spent a great deal of time looking for this cache.. definitely not here. DnF today
We looked for this but it is too difficult for us, sadly. It didn't help that as we arrived, one of the paragliders was having a call of nature right where I wanted to start my search!
#4,005: Viewtiful Smiley!I came to this one on the last day of 2023, while making a nice 10km+ loop. I logged my 4,000th find earlier at the Timeball (very special!), and then decided to take this walk. There are a few puzzle caches I solved some time ago along this track, and so decided to make an afternoon of it.This one was a real head scratcher. I searched high and low, and poked and prodded, until I spied a wee something that revealed the cache. Got it! I can see why it took some time for the CO to find a "suitable" replacement container.I placed the log in a small plastic baggie I had with me, so it will be better protected, and then replaced it exactly as found. Tricky!SL/TFTC!
A bit unfortunate- no reception here to check past logs. Just couldn’t spot this one today - maybe another time!
Looks like council has replaced the object it was hidden in. Will replace in next couple of days.
Stopped by this morning, we watched a first paraglidder take off, but there was not enough wind. We looked for the cache, but couldn't find anything and make sense of the title / hint. This one is too smart for us. We'll try another time.
We had a very thorough search of the area, before messaging friends for a hint. However we didn't need it as injeanious soon spotted the clever hide, TFTC!
Today - unlike last time - there were no paragliders here. Thinking sneaky, and thinking about the title, we got it quite rapidly. The small log has filled up though, and could do with replenishing. TFTC!
Well now, that was a cunning wee cache. We looked and looked and looked, then I decided to have a look around the more likely side, put my hand on something and the cash popped out, right into my hand. Very nice. Tftc.
Not fooled by the obvious. Thinking about the name. It could only be ... Got it. Just as a paraglider jumped off the hill diverting the muggles attention.
We noticed what might have been the remains of a cache container. With a high number of muggles (well over 20 cars parked along the road), we did not try to investigate further. We took a photo of the possibly muggled container, with the intention of emailing the CO... but now that we look at the previous logs we realise that it is a sneaky one. Obviously we will have to return on a rainy day, when the place is not crawling with paragliders.
Could not find this one. Found a wooden plank nailed on the other side of the advertising boards with a kind of card-holder and thought that this might be the cache holder. But obviously not. Spent about 10min at the the site but no luck. Will be back after the lockdown. Still heaps to do in the Sumner area.
Well, that was interesting!! Someone had placed some sheep droppings in the cache container!! ️️️all good now!!
After a very windy night and not a lot of sleep we decided to find a few easy caches before heading to Lyttleton in readiness to catch the ferry to Quail Island.
This was the sixth find of the morning, there were some young men parked up across the road, so we just casually wandered over and started looking without looking as though we were looking. After a while one of the young men came over and asked if we were looking to go paragliding, gosh no! He kind of just hung around for a while so I told him what we were up to. He was very interested and he has his first child on the way so he thought he would look up geocaching and do it as a family once his baby is older. He was keen to help us search.
While I was talking to him I spotted a wee something that looked out of place and sure enough there was the log. I signed the log and returned it as I had found it. The log is in great condition in this one.
The scenery around this area is just stunning, especially on a calm clear early morning.
Thank you for placing the cache which provided the motivation to come and visit the area. We will come back when we have more time to explore further.
Thank you for the smiley

Out on a beautiful Canterbury day, high on the hills above Sumner and Lyttleton we are spending some time Geocaching. What could be better. This nifty hide had us searching for a wee while even though it was in plain view, a good one. Thank you for hiding this cache here, getting us to stop and enjoy the views on a magic day. We appreciate your efforts. A favourite from us.
A beautiful frosty morning with some stunning views followed by a warm afternoon out on a caching mission with Surveybase to knock off some caches. Some challenging hides and a fair amount of gravy lost,. Thanks to all the CO's for maintaining these caches and sorry about the cut and past log. TFTC.
On a mission with Shannonp1 to clean up some Port Hills Caches. Had an awesome day but a big day. On our way before sunrise and the sun was setting on the Kaikouras on our way back down to the swamp. Thanks to all the CO's for placing and maintaining the caches. A special thanks to the Chch MEGA team for all their effort on the DT series as well. Apologies for the bulk log.
So pleased to tick this one off my list. Even with a wee hint from someone who had found it we took ages to find it. That is a sneaky wee hide.
We stopped here with Busy Paws and Lyttelton Witch and this had us all looking and looking. Wow is this a clever sneaky hide. Didn't want to give up got the torch, nope. Then a cheer from Lyttleton Witch with the cache in her hand. A great sigh from us all that we get this one. Thanks for the cache CatseyesNZ.
Back for a second look with a new mindset, with Lytteltonwitch and 3coconuts. Still took a while but LW came up with those magic words in an excited soprano voice. "I've got it!!" Very clever and sneaky. a Fav. TFTC
This was time be our 3rd on our journey but sadly like the previous log, after a while searching we too could not find the hidden cache. Also like the previous log we think we may have found where it could have been. We will watch other posts.
Lytteltonwitch and I think we may have found the good and logical hide, but no cache or log. LW will photo the CO with what we think, it may need some CO input. We'll see. Will watch future logs with interest.
Our first full day in New Zealand. We decided to take a look at Lyttelton and Godley Head. Of course, we also looked for some caches. It took us quite a long time to find this beasty little cache - but finally D4nielB got it and we could sign the logbook.
Thanks for hiding and greetings from Hamburg, Germany.

Our first day in New Zealand, Jul1ane and me decided to take it easy and do a short trip somewhere near. Our choice was Lyttleton. After our visit there we decided to continue to Godley Head. Since the road to there was closed, we had to take a detour, but we managed to get there and visit some caches.
Here we had to search for a bit, but then found the cache and could sign the log. Tricky little beast, hard to find.

Finally we came back with a new hint..Very sneaky and clever.Nice to have it off our unfound list.TFTH
A very sneaky wee cache. Just spotted something not quite right and there it was. I was chatting to the Paraglider chap as he was parked close by and he told me that he has seen a few people looking around the area that I was searching, So lucky enough I found it and showed him what it was all about. TFTC
What a wonderful place! I parasailed myself 25 years ago. So I sat here for a long time, looking to the young people. Finding the cache was not so easy, but we found it

Feeling very satisfied having find this...with a little help from a friend TFTC!!
Awesome cache and such beautiful views, last day in christchurch, happy to add another cache today . TFTC
Even with helpful hint at the event on Sunday we still spent more time than necessary looking. We had not come across one like this before. Thanks T for the help. Thanks Catseyes for the cache.
To continue with my personal challenge of having found a minimum of 10 caches for every day of the year I needed to find 4 caches today to bring my total finds for the 12th December to 10. In looking for a location where I had 4 caches waiting for me to find is getting a little problematical when I have found all the caches close to home - there is only the odd singleton here and there.. The closest group of 4 available where all in the Sumner- Godley Head area so that was where I headed on this misty rain day.
After discovering that the closest had no parking available I headed for the Summit Road and this cache and it's nearby companion. It took me quite a few minutes to notice something slightly odd - the hint didn't help me at all as I have lost a few grey cells since I found Capt. Thomas's Post. In any case, that's 1 in the bag, just 3 more to find. Thanks for the cache CatseyesNZ.

#16525. We took the direct route the Scarborough Bluffs track to GZ, which entailed a bit of long grass bashing. it was muggly at GZ but Troodles had no trouble finding the cache. TFTC.
After walking down the Captain Thomas walkway as far as the cache at Sumnervale Waterfall View, StreetWalker and I took the Scarborough Bluffs track then walked up to the Summit Rd.
After the cross country to get from the track to the road, it was a pleasant stroll on the road to here.
Muggle central today, with vehicles and people everywhere. But with so much coming and going, we were probably invisible and made a quick find at GZ. Having found another cache earlier in the afternoon helped . Nice hide. TFTC.

That was super tricky. It was a week day so not too many muggles. I admit to a PAF. Without it I would have struggled. Even with help I struggled.
Sadly there is no large event in New Zealand in 2019 but there are a few Mega events planned in Australia. I plan on going to the OzGeomuster in July. To find out more visit this site: https://www.ozgeomuster.com.au
If you can't make Aussie. New Zealand will have another large event in 2020 in Auckland. I will keep you posted in my logs.
Thanks for hiding this geocache.

SW wind so a chance for a muggle free check on my two caches up here. This is still in its correct here ding place. All good to go!
Managed to find a cache before going for a fly. It took a while to work out what I was looking for, but once I did that, it was an easy find. TFTC.
Four of us spent quite awhile hunting around here, while the Paragliders floated of into the mist
Not Manly Jack and I headed up here just before sunset.
I knew what I was looking for, but wasn't sure where - satellite view had me in one spot yet the compass pointed another way. Given how tricky I expected this one to be I searched pretty thoroughly, or so I thought! Eventually it was getting dark, and NMJ was getting a bit over it, so I resorted to messaging a previous finder.
Nudge received we finally spotted what we were expecting - in a spot I thought I'd looked at least five times!

Two caches in two days, this is getting to be a habit! I don't really do it much, and often don't log the ones Rincewind3 does while I'm around. This one was tricky enough, though, that I wanted a record of it!

Parked up at the top of Evan's Pass and walked out towards Godley Head. Having already found the cache mentioned in the hint, this one was easily located as I knew what to look for. TFTC.
Ended up being a busy night. TG and I headed out for a Mad Monday Mission and we had a good catch up about the school holidays and life in general and thougt we could grab a few caches. We grabbed a few and even scored a few FTFs to sow up the month of October for those of us that like to do a bit of FTF streaking.
Found one similar nearby, still took a bit to locate. Spotted a large ship our in the anchorage and I guessed it to be a 260m container ship and checked online and it was 265m container ship. Things you pick up when you take your son to Lyttelton.
Thanks for the cache CatseyesNZ.

Its been 3 weeks; but it was time again for a monday evening mad mission with TheWanglers. Not so mad this evening...just a sedate drive around town for a couple caches and a catchup from our respective holidays.
Third stop of the evening. Parked up...fantastic to see a huge container ship lit up out at anchor. Having both found Captain Thomas we started our search and soon enough had the clever cache in hand...cheers!

Very clever wee hide it did tack a few minutes to spot and that had to be it and it was. TFTH
WAHOO, a {FTF} with Ms_KR and Jude_E. We drove up to GZ and saw Jude_E hunting around. We said gidday then got around to the task of hunting for the prize. It took a wee while but got there in the end. Thanks
A weekend spent in town, the unfound caches are getting fewer and further apart. I can see more weekends away coming up!!.
Thanks to the CO's for placing and maintaining these caches. Cheers.

[FTF] 11.40am or close to, with Karma Reprint and Mrs KR. They came upon me searching and I asked if they'd done Capt Thomas. Turns out yes so knew then what we were looking for. Cunning! Thanks for the hide! #3268
