Thank you! Lots of fun

23-Jul-24
Found this after the nearby round about one. Thanks for making me aware of the memorial

06-Jun-24
Found on a grey lunchtime walk, just before the rain hit. A sober and tasteful memorial for such a terrible tragedy. TFTC.

25-May-24
Quick find on a lovely Saturday ride Smile TFTC

13-May-24
Out and about today so I picked up some caches along the way. I spotted this one and then noticed who the CO was... oh no... it's going to take me ages to find it. But I was lucky today and spotted it fairly quickly. The hardest part was not looking too suspicious to the never-ending number of muggles on the path. Thank you TF5 for the cache!

05-May-24
Caching around Canberra for a while longer. TFTC. Nice quick find and great history.

04-Apr-24
Over here for Capital GeoBash Mega now concluded. One of many cache finds all over the city, TFTC

03-Apr-24
Found it fairly quickly - thanks Farmers 5!

16-Mar-24
A very sobering memorial near GZ. We stopped to have a look and read the names and about the disaster that had unfolded here many years ago now. So many families lives changed on that one dreadful day. The find was quick and then back to the car for us.Thanks The Farmers 5Domsky

18-Feb-24
It's great to be back out with Loci612 for some shenanigans as we visited the multicultural festival during the day (where it turned out the meal of the day was a combination of gnocchi, Dutch pancakes, and iced tea) and did a bit of sporadic caching prior to the evening's event.Chasing a reasonably long distance sequential Adventure Lab eventually brought us to this location where I couldn't pass up on this quick trad before we moved on!Loci had a vague recollection of where it might've been, although it ended up being a little off, and sticking to the coordinates and having a good look ended up delivering me the goods. Thanks to The Farmers 5 for putting this one here! Smile

29-Dec-23
Found this while waiting for my Dad's medical appointment to end. Had the CIH fairly quickly once I expanded my search zone.TFTC!

Awesome little cache. Mint spot as well. Tftc!

03-Feb-23
Finally found this one. Searched in plenty of places before moving slightly and spotting it. Thanks

28-Jan-23
A few days ago I hadn’t heard of this memorial or the tragedy that it is dedicated to. A few days ago, on Australia Day, I gathered the information for the multi but had filtered this cache out. Today I was in the area and noted my oversight. I walked in quite a few circles before spotting the classic hide setup. TFTH

18-Jan-23
#3456 After a DNF here previously, we dropped back past today for a quick find now that it has been replaced. Also grabbed some multi info while in the area. Thanks for the placement and maintenance Farmers 5.

20-Dec-22
No luck for DeadThief and I. Gave it a pretty good shot. Thought we were onto it at one spot but nothing inside.

18-Apr-22
Mosquitoes everywhere near GZ so didn’t want to spend too long

15-Apr-22
Spent about 20 min couldnt find it

06-Feb-22
It's a bit ironic that this memorial is at the end of Dry Street.

I felt sorry for the families that lost several children in one tragedy.

I had been to the cemetery just before, so this one hit home even more.

Finding the cache took a while as the coords were a bit out.

TFTC

08-Oct-21
A tricky little hide. I had a local walk past while I was signing the log. He asked if I was trying to find that "geothingy". Obviously this one has a bit of attention over the last 4 years. Thanks for the cache.

26-Sep-21
Nice quick find

12-Sep-21
Out for a little caching on my two hour window for adventure! I never knew about this flood so it was interesting to read about it.

I was looking for the cache in all the usual places, high and low, under and up, and then I realised it was one of TF5. So once I stood back and changed my approach it was a quick find. Log in good condition.

Thanks to The Farmers 5 for putting out and maintaining all of these caches for our enjoyment!

22-Aug-21
Came back to this one trying to avenge some previous DNFs in Curtin, and found this one quite easily. A family did come over to rollerskate around the area, and got ready on the bench, but I don't think they noticed me looking around.

26-Jul-21
Note to self, trust instinct more. Yet another memorial I didn't know about. I grew up in Curtin in the 90's but had no idea about this tragic event either. Thank you for sharing.

18-Apr-21
TFTC. Very clever hiding. Luckily we were looking around and read some hints and we found it!

29-Mar-21
Finally found it. No pen so took a photo of log. With my grandson

18-Mar-21
After a meeting ran late I met up with onieferret and GLISS! who were out caching together and we swung by here to grab this one. A very interesting place to visit. Thanks for the cache.

17-Mar-21
Great hide. I hsd no idea there was a flood here. Love how caches bring you to places like this. Thank you

14-Mar-21
2nd find of the day, checked the usual spots but came up empty then saw a flash of green that led me down the correct path... TFTC

04-Feb-21
Out and about trialing GeoPartner's new eBike for some 18kms from Western Park down to Woden and back. Great fun and I still had plenty of exercise. This cache was collected along the way.

Smart hide in a lovely place that remembers a difficult tragic day in our history. TFTC The Farmers 5.

16-Jan-21
Never knew this memorial was here! However I guess it is time to visit it! I searched the obvious spots. About 5 minutes in I had a feeling that they cache had disappeared as the bench just had a fresh coat of paint. Then a muggle in his front yard gave me a hint then it was a quick find. Thanks for the nudge! Would have never checked there. Log signed and cache put back. TFTC TF5!!

20-Dec-20
Had to widen my original search area a little from the marked location but a straightforward find once I had. Thanks for bringing more attention to this small but significant memorial. Tftc.

16-Dec-20
Found today after work. The log page is fresh, FIRST log!!! Rad spot.

30-Nov-20
A check revealed the cache had gone accidentally .
A new one in place with fresh log sheet . Place is very clean now .
Good luck .

29-Nov-20
Better DNF for now cause I came to GZ to find shoes scattered around and a saw lying on the rocks I was weird but I’ll come back another time

26-Sep-20
Thanks

11-Aug-20
Been here before with no luck but today after think a bit laterally I had quick in had. Tftc

11-Aug-20

Wow, that was tricky! The GeoKid found it in a place I would never have looked. Thank you!

27-Jul-20
Clever hide! Found in seconds.

25-Jul-20
Spent ages looking here last time when i ended up with a DNF. Today after reading the logs I walked straight to it. Gotta love when that happens. Happy days. Tftc.

22-Jul-20
I've found 23 of TF5's caches now...so I started my hunt based off those hides. This proved fruitless until I saw a muggle watching me intently from the safety of his home. I perused the memorial again, hoping that would look legitimate....it didn't. Just as I was about to give up and come back another day, he came out the front door and yelled out a helpful hint. Turns out he just wanted to be helpful! TFTC!

10-Jul-20
Found by accident, but knew about the cult. Thanks for the school holiday and iso fun.

20-Jun-20
Found after a bit of scratching around.
I had picked up the cache that was previously here. Thank you for bringing me back here. Tftc!

04-Jun-20

Thanks for the cache

27-May-20
thirsty find

17-May-20
Easy find, cute lil hide

12-May-20
Had to head out at lunch time today while at work so decided to pick up a cache as well.
Am pretty sure we have picked up another cache down here many moons ago.

This one took a little bit of a search before coming up with the goods.

Thanks for the hide The Farmers 5

27-Apr-20
Biking from Wanniassa to lake burley with TheSkype and back, all up 46km, enjoying the sunshine plus picking up a cache or 2. Tricky cache, I thought it was under the seat, it wasn’t. Expanded my search and with a hint from TheSkype found it. Tftc

01-Apr-20
Having heard about the memorial, I visited, did some weeding and discovered the cache. Thanks for bringing me to this loving tribute. TFTC

17-Mar-20
We too recall the earlier cache nearby and another I think called "invisibility"? I managed to repair things satisfactorily though.... Thanks TF5

03-Feb-20
Precarious position for the cache, is there supposed to be an extra cable tie. Anyway great hide, a very well thought out cache. Thanks The Farmers 5

04-Dec-19
Was my turn to find this one after my geo hubby helped Travelgran find it a couple of weeks ago. Today geo hubby would not tell me where it is but I found it ok. What a great little hide. Lovely cache. TFTC

14-Nov-19
Out enjoying the lovely warm weather on a Thursday walk with Walking for Pleasure led by my fellow geocacher, Gerriactive, who told me "there is a cache at the flood memorial"; Gerriactive being the leader had to press on, but fortunately for me, her Muggle husband offered to stay with me whilst we both searched, and of course he looked in one direction and I the other, and one guess who said "I have the cache"!! Muggle husband will have to return with Gerriactive another time, thanks for placing a cache to show us some of Canberra's rather sad history!

03-Nov-19
Nice hide

01-Nov-19
After running some errands at Woden I decided to get a few caches on the way home; despite the heat. Really good to see a new cache at this memorial since the previous one got archived - hearing about such a flood in a recognisible area really surprised me; and obviously saddened me. At GZ, the phone GPS made it a bit difficult to narrow down onto GZ, however the cache was found reasonably quickly nevertheless. Nicely placed. TFTC TF5!

03-Oct-19
No joy today. Too tricky. Will return for a second look one day. What a terrible event it must’ve been. Tftc.

11-Sep-19
The Pedal Power bike ride went to Queanbeyan this morning which afforded the opportunity to seek out a couple of geocaches on the way home. This cache was a straightforward find, being in an obvious spot more-or-less on the coordinates. I had searched this location on a previous visit and am at a loss to explain my failure to find it then. Thank you The Farmers 5 for installing and maintaining this cache.

03-Sep-19
Found

30-Aug-19
The Geocaching challenge for a seven day run souvenir had me out during the week. This week day was round to my end of week trip after work. I have done a few caches here before. I see this one is very sneakily hidden, I hope it survives as this is a great place for people to visit.

Thanks.

#3577 On my way to work, I needed a cache for today to get my 7 day streak happening. After a search of some possible areas, I found the cache, well hidden and in perfect shape. TFTC.

27-Aug-19
On my way home from donating plasma, after work. Hmmm, still some daylight left, might go see if i can make a smiley out of that green dot on the edge of the big roundabout in Phillip. Didn't read the description until I had found a place to park, just to the South on the other side of that tall building being constructed (6pm, getting dark, and the crane is still moving).
Nice walk over the odd green bridge and through some weird vacant land that looks like it may have once been a park/picnic area, found that cache, still not dark and not too cold - so I decided to walk around to this one... I already knew about the flood and the memorial - but only because I had looked for a previous cache here (but it had gone missing by the time I went looking, and was never replaced).
TFTC - took several minutes to find... Looked in the obvious places, and had started searching the not so obvious when I spotted what I would have thought to be an unlikely place... but I usually look in those anyway, so I looked... and - a pleasant surprise - I found the cache Smile
My name is more scratched than written... I am not a fan of that plastic log "paper"... Oddly enough, the pen i just happened to bring with me is one that usually works on that kind of log paper... but it wouldn't write properly on this log...
After this find, I captured the Munzee I had noticed while looking for the cache, then had fun capturing a few more Munzees on my walk back to my car... and got home a bit later than I had planned to - lol

27-Aug-19
Found it within 10 seconds =D
Thanks!!

F(H)ound It! #3320 @ 4:25 PM

I was almost ready to give up when I thought that I'd just check there and came up happy.
A sad memorial in the valley where I spent a lot of my youth mucking around in the storm water drains.

Thanks for the cache The Farmers 5.

23-Jun-19
Found with Kittykatch on a very cold day. Took a little while but KK’s sharp eyes found it. Have not been to this spot before. TFTC

23-Jun-19
Found with Joolay. Cool and sneaky hide. TFTC

02-Jun-19
First cache with new grandie while parents have a peaceful coffee. Thoughtful memorial and a clever hide! TFTC

19-May-19
Was directed here by a nearby related cache. Had never heard of the Woden floods before or this tragedy. Thanks for bringing me here today and maintaining the cache.
Had a bit of a sit and reflect after signing the log. Very sad.

17-May-19
A cache check today showed the cache had moved slightly from its original position.
The cache is now in its proper position and ready for the next finder.
Good luck !

16-May-19
Off for an after work, evening geomission to get out and get moving and to make some muggle free urban finds! Big Grin

First one of the evening and after wandering down from the geounit, it was on with the search at this place of rememberance. Shone the torch in a few spots and then I remembered a log about long arms. Ahhhh...it's in there! Signed and I was on my way.

Thanks for the hide, The Farmers 5 Cool

11-May-19
Took a lllloooonnnggggggg time and a long arm to find. Thanks. Sadly, I recommend it be repaired to obviously what it must have once been.

28-Apr-19
Sunday afternoon in Canberra with a couple of free hours - what to do?

So, I jumped on my bike and headed out to grab a couple of local caches ( and get some information for the pluto pup multi).

A sad place this one, but it's good to have the cache here to bring people so they can learn the story.

Agreed with @charlotleclerc about the broken cable needing maintenance

Thanks for the cache Farmers 5.

21-Apr-19
Out and about on Easter Sunday for a ride on our bikes. Quite some while ago, when the nearby wetland bogs were under construction, I had eyed off this memorial for cache placement, but did not get around to it. So it was nice to see a cache has since gone in.
An unusual choice of hide location, but soon found. TFTC The Farmers5

21-Apr-19
The attaching cable tie to the hide is broken.

21-Apr-19
This geocacher reported that the container is damaged.

14-Apr-19
Quick find after dropping the kids off for a scouts activity. TFTC

09-Apr-19
Found after a bit of a think and search. Tftc

05-Apr-19
Cycling through the area and this was one of four finds today.
That is a sneakily hidden cache. I thought of that spot early, but then dismissed it and searched elsewhere. Finally I came back and there it was. This is the second cache I have found near here. TFTC The Farmers 5.

24-Mar-19
A cache revealed a bit of council work at GZ and the cache had moved from position but still there.
Cache has been rehidden and ready to find now.
Good luck !

17-Mar-19
Third day of Pebbles event at Woden so another good chace for some caching in the area (there are ao many down here these days!)
Looked around the coords first thinking it might be under the fresh mulch that is everywhere. Reading past logs and now looked around for a different spot. Found it in its temporary? setup. Its fine for now but could quite easily go missing under a few likely scenarios. I would recommend to check on it some time soon.

Thank you The Farmers 5 for putting the cache out and maintaining it.

17-Mar-19
Nice cache. Looked for 5 min before reading logs but then quickly found it.

Thank you for the Cache The Farmers 5

Cache 4791 on 8 Mar 2019.

Bobl27 picked me up from work early today to make my long weekend just that little bit longer and we decided to grab a few caches in Curtin. Found three from four that we searched for, unable to turn a previous DNF into a smiley. Surprisingly warm outside and was glad to get back to the car even after a short walk.

This cache: this one had me tricked, and after phoning a friend , I realised why! The area had recently been mulched and the cache had moved from its correct position. I managed to extract it after some nervousness, and signed the log. Replaced with an interim and clumsy solution until the CO gets to have a look.

Thanks The Farmers 5 for the cache and the fun!

Parked in the shade, walked down, inspected the memorial, remembered the night well. Also remembered meeting TE at the original cache nearby sometime ago. Sad spot.
