Many thanks to taybee nz who climbed to retrieve the cache. And so 7 days after returning home from a five month trip to the UK and Europe, I am off on another trip. This time its within New Zealand as Itchyfeet2020 and I are on our mega road trip to Dunedin. We are focussing on particular caches for various challenges, as well as having a great lot of fun and seeing the scenery in our wonderful land. -LET US HAVE A BLOCK PARTY!!!On May 3rd, 2025, we will be celebrating 25 years of geocaching in Rotorua, New Zealand with a special Block Party event. Join us to celebrate 25 years of this amazing game, and that the very first geocache hidden outside of the United States, 25 years ago, was hidden here in New Zealand. You do not want to miss this event, so check out the "[GCAKR25](https://coord.info/GCAKR25) 25 Years of Geocaching NZ! event page, the [event website](http://25years.geocache.nz/) for more details, join the [Facebook](https://www.facebook.com/groups/924894455969387) group, and sign up to the [email list](http://25years.geocache.nz/?p=4) to get updates...If you intend to come, please make sure you get your "Will Attend" log onto the page as soon as you can in order to assist with planning the first ever Block Party in New Zealand.-
NZ_B and I are on a road trip to the Geo Toroa Mega and back. I'm also aiming for a multi every day, so it is now titled the "Mega Multi Road Trip." Today is Day 14 from Christchurch to Blenheim. Caching with taybee nz today, and this was one he was keen to visit. I got to hold the camera while he shimmed up to the nicely designed cache. Thank you for the fun cache. It's nice to have a trip where, alongside targeted caches we also take time to find one's on a whim or ones that take a bit longer. We have all day and the caches are calling...
In NZ for the Mega Mashup coming in a couple of days & this cache was a great start to the over the ditch odyssey. A fav point here
Found - Mrs McMike2012 & I live full-time in our caravan travelling around NZ, visiting the places we want to visit & doing the things we want to do and fitting in a bit of Geocaching here & there we are currently staying near Christchurch for the next few days we were out completing a few messages & had seen these couple of Traditional Caches with high Favourite Points against them as we were on that side of town we decided to go see them for ourselves after parking up, I went for a walk completed the Roto Kohatu Cache first, then moved on to this one this cache itself was an easy find, & after doing what needed to be done, I had the Logbook in hand note well, Im not fussed on heights so it was quite a novel experience being this high up, trying to hang on, while fiddling with things to open the cache container & then juggling things to successfully sign & replace the logbook well still give it a Favourite Point to go with all the rest and were also pleased to add another 'smiley face' to the tally TFTC ... TN:LN:LS #6,043 for Us!
I am in Christchurch for a few days. Arrived this afternoon and was collected by that darn bear. There is plenty of time to do a little geocaching before dinner so we headed out this way. Mainly because I saw the cache title and I LOVE tree climbing!Step one - walk around the bottom of the tree wishing I had a flip-top head. Actually, that part was easy, the cache was a fast find. Step two - retrieve the log. That was nice and easy too. I'm more mean - I would have made it higher. Some dork had left food in the cache - Moccona sachets. I took them out. Food attracts ants, wasps, rats, bears. Strict no-no.Love the Climb That Tree logo the CO has in the cache description. I'd like to use that for my next tree climbing hide.Easy favourite. Loved it.
Day 3 of our Epic Christchurch trip. As we are flying out later today we didnt want to stray too far from the airport, so we targeted a few near by. Nice easy tree climb for the morning
Having solved a bunch of mysteries over the past couple of months, including the night before finding them. A spontaneous trip down was made by Kiwi Does Stuff and team Reschedule to collect some Canterbury caches. We have headed out to set ourselves a personal best for a days caching. The perfect caching wagon (a rental car) has been acquired allowing us to go anywhere with ease. All of the caches have made for an enjoyable weekend to remember and resulted in a solid and best days caching.Apologies for the generic log, all caches signed are a mixture of Res, Resch & Reschedule - a big thanks to the CO for creating, placing and maintaining all of their caches. TFTC!
Great cache. I saved this one for my son to complete as he loves to have his feet off the ground. Chucked a few swaps and a TB in
After the other tree cache, I was asked if I wanted to come along to this, assuming we were taking a bigger ladder. I was definitely keen, seen as we were on a roll, so after saying bye to the others, I followed Coconuts3 and busy_paws to closeby and wandered to the tree. It didn't look too bad, so I went up and signed the log. Nicely placed! FP from me, TFTC abl973, the cache was found in good order Signed, sealed and returned to GZ. 2 find(s) of 4 today, making this find #4722
Having a tree day today so after one escapade, coconuts3, Z master and I went to this one. You can't miss it really!! ZM did the sterling job of ascending, we gave much encouragement and held onto things, a great team effort and a smiley gained. TFTC
Came here today with busy paws and Z-masterNZ. What a great cache container and hide. Came prepared to get up, Z-masterNZ did the honors, while we were the cheer leaders. Thanks for this cache abl973.
Fantastic hide thanks. Found easily, retrieved with a moderate amount of difficulty. Great fun
Yaya. Looked at this one ages ago and decided to wait for a better opportunity. Took a climber with us this time. Thanks for a good hide
Name is in the log & I took the photo! Love the way you have it secured our version " Little G's Grandads Handiwork" suffered from wind and storms - it's now secured back at home.
#4,022: Treefull Smiley!I came to this one with LittleG Magic, on a little walk around. I didn't know it was here, but was intrigued when he told me about it. So, up I went, and made the find an sign. All in good shape!! No fav points to give, or I would!SL/TFTC!!
I very much love getting to visit the South Island. Until recently it wasn't something I got to do very often, but in the last year I've managed a series of mini-trips for geocaching, and here we are at the start of 2024 with another one. Just like my first SI trip in 2023, I've come to Christchurch to target a few specific caches to help with my Jasmer Grid, and qualification for a few challenges I'm currently working on.This is Day 3, and after spending the morning clearing out the Glossary of Geocaching series on my own, I had now teamed up with my friend ThatDarnBear, who has recently relocated to Chch and has been hosting me during my visit to the garden city. There were a few specific caches we had wanted to get together, before then heading down to Lincoln to do as many as we could down there. This was our first cache, and wanted simply because it's a tree climb. I love tree climb caches and have a couple of my own. Arriving at GZ, it wasn't hard to spot the cache and literally 20 seconds later I was up there retrieving the cache and signing us in. No issues to report with either the cache or log .Thanks for setting this one up.
Our family moved to Christchurch a few months back, and since then we have had the privilege of hosting some of my Wellington Puzzlers group members for caching weekends. This weekend was TwigNZ's turn for a visit. This was the first cache on our agenda today, and a quick find it was. Up the tree, sign the log, down the tree, then on to the next. Thanks for the cache.
Wow! Super fun! Got really dirty, but I had a great time. TB did not appear to be in the cache though. We were actually planning on making one like this, but we had to scrap the idea as there were no climbable trees near us. TFTC gets a fav.
I was concerned about this climb given the sprinkling of rain, but it was quite dry and not slippery. TFTC!
I came walking from the holiday park. A muggler saw me in the tree. I dont think she knew what I was doing. I really enjoy those kind of caches. In my country (The Netherlands) we close the holes to avoid birds really nesting in them. But no bird seems to have tried that here.
I stopped here while out on a bike ride, was keen for a tree climb. Dropped a trackable I found in Riccarton Bush. Very cool cache. TFTC
Quelle jolie cache!! C’est la première. Fois que je monte dans un arbre et que je trouve une si jolie cache.

This is my fourth geocaching excursion to **beautiful New Zealand**!
Due to Covid [xx(] I had to wait for 3 long years to again return to my beloved Middle-Earth [xx(].
This time its a road trip enduring for 26 days, covering both North- and South-Island.
Today was a long trip from Nelson to Ashburton via Lewis Pass .
This geo-treasure contributed to the finds of today. Cool! [^]
I had anticipated a challenging climb and brought my webbing slings, just to be on the save side .
Gotsha!
A big thanks to the owner abl973 [:X] for creating and maintaining this cache [^] - and best regards from Germany !

Wiscobryo did the heavy lifting here while I kept Hugh the Cache Dog busy. Great cache and thanks for filling a new square for me.
Found the cache out with swtgeo..log not signed as wasn't keen to get to high. Tftc
We are killing time before our flight back to Queensland this arvo so what better way to do that than find a few caches.
The DT rating is what drew us here and I do enjoy a tree climb. We parked at the gate and walked the last bit to GZ. A good straightforward climb and I soon had the cache in hand but noticed an 8-legged guardian inside. Not being a fan of those I passed the container down to ground level so they could set it free and sign the log.
Cache replaced and we were on our way. Tftc

Gk was opening the cache within a few seconds of spotting it. Me on the other hand was sending encouragement from below. Thanks for placing this cache and thank you for the smiley
Anzac Day outing. Sent the young climber of the family up. He decided it wasn’t quite challenging enough so climbed right to the top for a better view.
Such a great spot...not too hard, not too easy and with just the right amount of challenge Fun times being the 1 to retrieve this while KCN guarded my gear. Almost left my own "stamp" in the book as I caught myself on the way...but managed to keep it clean. Thanks for a fun cache!
Out with Knotobsessed for a bit of caching after being told I need to loose weight snd walk more for knee issue. Sent the youngster up as more able than me.
Short geocaching trip around Christchurch with woolwood9, going from cache to cache.
SL: **tm/ww NZ**

Nice easy to start the day. Thinking don't drop anything, don't drop anything. Luckily I didn't do anything, least of all me. Cheers
Had to wait till the cacheletts came down to get the nimblist one to climb..... Turnes out we would be needing a team effort to retrieve this one...... TFTC
FITW albijos
I have some kind of special affinity towards tree caches. Came here to find this one before albijos flying out. A quick and easy find. TFTC

So pleased this was a relatively easy climb. Got sore feat at the moment so anything too hard was going to have to be passed.
Went for a nice wee evening stroll on Friday. Was cool to find a different type. And we enjoyed listening to the frogs. Thanks
This was another fun one to do and my "going-for-a-walk-buddy" was about to get angry when I said I will quickly look for a cache (the aim was to go for a walk - at least that's what he thought...), but not so angry anymore when we saw what needed to be done, he had a good laugh watching me in monkey style getting up there. We both had good fun and it turned out that the two caches found during the walk were both great and he actually enjoyed it just as much as I did. I have to give another fav here, it was great to hug the tree
After the first find, the kids understood what the game was about. theroamingreliever read out the next hint, and explained about the rating. With phones in theirs hands kids ran off for GZ. They were up in the tree before we even reached the cache. Both container and logbook were in good condition. That was a very nice cache. Thanks for placing and maintaining it!
A well crafted cache in excellent condition. Worth a favourite. We dropped a TB. TFTC!
Great spot for a cache, and a fab cache. GZ was perfect for the mission required. A few muggles driving past, but no issue with a quick ascent, travel bug drop-off and descent. TFTC.
I was close by to here on my way to the next cache and thought I may as well go and have a look. I thought it looked very doable so the next thing is that I'm signing the log! Great cache thanks abl973 - have another favourite. TFTC # 15,791
Nice quick find, friend went up the tree for me. Also find #100 for me, only taken 12 years. TYFC
