Im visiting Canberra from Brisbane with Willis007 for a long weekend with the Domsky duo, our wonderful guides, targeting mainly oldies and challenges. This is my first time geocaching in the ACT.Domsky dropped us off near the top of Black Mountain, then we enjoyed the walk down, finding many caches along the way including this one.SL
Out for a days caching. Opted to spend the day in Canberra. Spent much of the day walking hills and grabbing lab caches.Really enjoyed my walk around the Black Mt precinct. This was one of a handful I found today. 14:22Happy Easter!Capital GeoBash Day 3.Today, it was back to my main focus of Challenge caches... so I parked at the base of Black Mountain and set off for what ended up being a little over nine klicks of hiking.I was joined part of the way around by fishercacher, a lovely couple from Virginia. We parted ways on approach to the carpark, but I had another Challenge or two to stamp, so took the right fork back into the woods. Thanks, GreyHams, for the challenge. My name is in the log. I'll sort out qualifications eventually, or qualify in the fullness of time.

This cache was found today and brings our overall cache find tally to 13269.This was found today in my morning of caching over the back side of Black Mountain. The caches werent too much of a challenge but the few areas that were fire affected certainly proved challenging. Thanks GreyHams for the cache.
The Cockburn Crew are on tour at the Capital Geobash in Canberra - travelling from Perth to Sydney, Canberra, Sydney and finally back to Perth.Today was day 2 and we had an absolute blast. After being up late last night we backed it up again this morning with an early start to make the most of the cooler weather and lack of muggles in the morning cold. We completed a huge number of trails, challenges, whereigos, traditional, multis, earthcaches, labs, virtuals and puzzles. It really was a great day for variety. We enjoyed the large number of virtuals, and caching in territory we havent been before. Weve filled our boots with some of the oldest caches in Australia, some rare DTs and DTTs and generally had a great time. Thanks to the COs for a great day and event. Exciting times over the next couple of weeks as we takeoff for the Capital GeoBash in Canberra! Its going to be a flood of Sandgropers over east, with a host of West Aussies making the trek east for the event. Im travelling with fellow Cockburn Crew members Leg5 and Barnzy12, starting in Sydney and hitting the road to Canberra, before returning back to Sydney. Honourary mention to our fellow member, Cravo10, who couldnt make it after recently introducing a new geocacher to the world the week prior. Once in Canberra, the agenda is set, well team up with a host of Western Australians to conquer caches. Collectively, were hoping to make it the biggest ever weekend for cache finding. Following the event, the journey continues back to Sydney, with a mission to clean up caches and new Local Government Areas (LGAs), ensuring no cache is left unturned in this epic geocaching adventure. Something tells me that well need a holiday after this, well, holiday. All logs have been signed as WAC to save space, abbreviation for Western Australia Crew. Cheers GreyHams! Join us in Augusta, in Western Australias South West, for WA Goes Big 2024 (GCAGV8Y) on Friday 20 to Sunday 22 September. Log your will attend now!Qualifications attached.

During our weeks trip with Bare Foot Guru, Infoferret and Trinity to the Canberra Mega we logged as a combination of "BFG, CF, BIC, BITC" depending on who we were caching with at the time. The trip took us on a flight to Melbourne first, then a drive to Canberra, followed by a drive to Sydney before flying out again. Where possible I will add commentary to each find about the cache. The Adelaide Leap Day Mega and Canberra Geobash gave me a great excuse for a road trip. This trip has shown me so many new and interesting places as Ive chased LGAs, oldies, challenges, interesting D/T combinations, rarer cache types and favourites.Meeting up with friends old and new along the way, we sometimes cached with them and sometimes alone but always had a great time. Today we took a hike around Little Black Mountain, enjoying the solitude and perfect walking weather as we found as many challenge caches as we could and anything else we passed along the way. A nice variety of mostly achievable challenges, the hides were all found after a short search. We enjoyed our time exploring this area as we went from cache to cache and will check if we qualify when we next get the chance. Thanks to the CO for placing and maintaining this cache and adding to our enjoyment.

6 months ago, during a frenzy, we said to ourselves "why not going to the mega in Adelaide for the leapday". From scratch we moved on to preparing an 18-day project in Australia.Our objectives are simple, visit a small part of this immense continent while validating a few caches. There are so many caches (impossible to do everything) that we will select. Our plan will allow us to visit Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne, Mount Gambier and finish in Adelaide for the famous Mega.During our stay we will log PestiHoot for Pestinette and Blackhoot.Arriving in Canberra this early afternoon, we visit Black Mountain through the caches. We will come across kangaroos, iguanas and spiders (a little scary). The forest trail is very pleasant. The coordinates are very precise, so we will do it flawlessly.Thanks for the cache and the discovery of beautiful or original spots[pestinette](https://www.geocaching.com/profile/?u=pestinette) a utilis [Project-GC](https://project-gc.com/Challenges/GC81Y9M/39246 "Project-GC Challenge Checker") pour voir s'il/elle tait qualifi(e) pour ce challenge et il/elle l'est.I found 53 caches with 300 or more favorite points.GC40 - 7102GC9FAVE - 6991GC8NEAT - 6384GC8FR0G - 3593GC5552H - 2051GC6X4AV - 1628GCE388 - 1074GC1W06N - 1023GCGY2Z - 988GC1C1A - 867GC2JVJB - 864GCE387 - 816GCD890 - 741GCHKWJ - 730GC6612 - 718GC63DB - 696GC1VB9B - 685GCPCPX - 656GC2E34F - 635GCD838 - 588GC52N0E - 572GCJJVZ - 571GC30GRK - 566GC7B6KT - 565GCQTP6 - 554GC3E - 528GC2KJAF - 526GC7B8WT - 521GC4X7V2 - 511GC1MN5Y - 477GC113AJ - 457GC7B83N - 434GC285PA - 431GC7B8Z6 - 425GC1YN6Q - 421GC7B72P - 419GC3B88D - 403GCJFY5 - 401GC7B7Z7 - 395GC7B9TP - 388GC7CZGY - 386GC3RYG2 - 381GCA6GY9 - 369GCB652 - 366GC3FTJ1 - 356GC78EZY - 343GC24JQF - 342GC7B8EE - 328GC8FF50 - 318GCKT57 - 317GCCC6B - 310GCA1AV9 - 309GC7A - 469

Spent some time in the black mountain preserve picking up mostly challenges and some others. I found bushwacking in Australia interesting here. The vegtation isn't thick but you always have to keep your eyes up so you don't walk through massive spider webs. I saw a couple spiders that were close to golf ball size ... Don't have anything like that back home. Thanks to all the COs for hiding these caches!
The expedition: Everytime we have stayed at the nearby caravan park I've threatened to complete a whole heap of caches in this piece of bushland but never got up.. until this morning. Around 30 finds, 2.5 hours of walking and bit over 8kms much of the hill is now complete. The challenge: [steeba](https://www.geocaching.com/profile/?u=steeba) has used [Project-GC](https://project-gc.com/Challenges/GC8RA5Z/51540 "Project-GC Challenge Checker") to see if they qualified for this challenge and they did.I found 10 caches with 1000 or more favorite points.GCK25B - 4945GC2AD97 - 3065GC32A0H - 2993GC1169 - 2029GC20Y24 - 1718GC3Z3PE - 1649GC1F79P - 1197GC4GW89 - 1120GC79 - 1078GC4B84C - 1392The cache: Pretty straightforward.TFTC!

And it's day 3 of chasing Canberra Challenges. Today, my own challenge was to meander around Black Mountain, finding all the challenge caches along the way, with a few Trads thrown in. It was another Epic long walk, but again, l loved the scenery. The weather was perfect for hiking. This was one of the challenge caches found and signed..CHALLENGE ACCEPTED...qualifying log to follow in due time.
My first ever visit to the ACT and with a few hours of spare time on both the Saturday and Sunday I decided to target the many challenge caches in Canberra. This series caught my attention especially since it combines my geocaching hobby with my other hobby, hiking!I parked near the suggested location and set about finding 20 caches, knowing that there were three more in the area I didnt qualify for and will possibly never qualify for.The whole process went very smoothly. Thanks to good coordinates, clear hints, sparse vegetation and nicely sized containers I was back at the car within 2 hours! My top favoured finds are:GC8NEAT Lets improve the outdoors - Locationless Cache Locationless (Reverse) Cache United States Washington 6387 (19%)GC2JV5X van "Kluis tot Kookhuis" Traditional Cache Netherlands Limburg 6116 (58%)GC43 Europe's First Traditional Cache Ireland Leinster 4646 (60%)
Signed with Baristayan but can’t log just yet cos I haven’t found a triple ton cache. One day soon hopefully!
Yay!!

I decided to take a walk on this glorious afternoon whilst fitzy_1965 was doing the Parliament House tour touted for the next Mega.
Was glad to finally go sign these challenges that have been burning a hole on my map.
All were found quickly and easily. I sent a message to the CO for any that needed a bit of attention.
Will check to see if I qualify as soon as I can.

Today was my last day in Canberra and I was picked up nice and early for a caching day with The Green Geckos. She had a plan of caches to collect and I was just following along. It did not matter where we went as they are all new to me, lol.
First was an early start and drive up to the Telstra tower. Here was a virtual and a couple of challenge caches and around a ways was a whole series of challenge caches. We signed the logs where required and answered questions or took pics where required.
We meet up with the Domsky’s and walked a trail for a nice rainy walk. Then we proceeded to grab a few fun tree fishing or tree climbing caches. It was then a final event of Roddyc’s before a drive to the airport. An adventure lab and a virtual awaited me there. There is So much to see and do in Canberra.

We continued today our tour in ACT, AUS, and thereby searched, found and logged this interesting Mystery-Cache.
The weather was - said in one word – simply best. The good hidden caches and the being on holidays kept us the whole day in a good mood.
The cache had good coordinates, and thus was easy to find. The logbook was okay, and allowed easy logging.
Thanks to GreyHams for the generation of this nice cache Playing Favourites Challenge #`2 - 300 FP's (with the proper agenda), for leading us here and for showing us this funny location as well as the ongoing maintenance of this cache.

TaurusSix and I are back in Canberra for a few days. It is a place that is very dear to our hearts so we always enjoy any opportunity to visit. This time one of us is here for a work conference and one of us has tagged along. As well as the work conference there is plenty of opportunity for us to catch up with old friends and of course to squeeze in a geocache or two or three …

This cache took us off track for a little bit. Spotted kangaroos (fleeing ahead of us). The cache itself was not difficultly to spot.

After a long day at work we were both in need of some fresh air and decided to get a few of these before we ran out of light tonight.
No issues with any of the hides and it was a pleasant stroll. We will be back to collect more when we have more daylight.

More and more countries are now opening up for traveling. I took the opportunity to make a short trip. To visit some places, I’ve been visiting a long time ago. To see if anything has changed but also to find some caches. Maybe also meet some fellow geocachers. You see, the world consists of two kinds of people: Your friends, and the ones you haven’t met yet. And I was lucky to extend my list of friends during my trip.
When I arrived yesterday evening, it was raining and someone said it was going to rain for another 10 days. But when I woke up this morning the sun was shining. I rushed out to look for some caches. When I arrived yesterday evening, it was raining and someone said it was going to rain for another 10 days. But when I woke up this morning the sun was shining. I rushed out to look for some caches. Soon the sun disappeared and it was cloudy. But luckily no rain. I was out for a couple of hours. Met nobody.

Found and signed with catnap777 back on our Easter break, 17/4/22.
For #2, I offer 2.
Each has over 300 favourite points. [^]
GCCode - Total FPs - Name
GC257RW - 333 - Eureka TB Exchange
GC4PXX8 - 307 - Ununoctium (now Oganessium)
The first on this short list has rather obvious reasons for it's popularity, the second I am guessing once had a different and also unique container.
TFTC and series GreyHams.

The geobro, goldfinger777, was down for a visit and super keen for a geomission - so off we went to target caches on Black Mountain.

Signed with catnap777 on our "challenging" Easter assault on Yass and Canberra.
Targeting so many of the challenge type mystery caches this extra long weekend, we came home with a huge haul (figuratively speaking) which will take some time to sort through. Having so much success with both the Yass challenges and the UGC, it was now time to pull on the hiking boots and give this lot a go.
We signed about a dozen of the high quality hides in the time we had with this series, and all were found in good condition. [8)]
TFTChallenge AngelG27.
Our next challenge is to sort through all we have signed to discover what we qualify for and what we have to aim for. [^]

Signed log with dalerious on an epic Easter challenge chase, starting in Yass and continuing on in Canberra. This is our first trip caching the area and to say we had a ball was an understatement . We achieved more than we conservatively had on our starting list . Thank you GreyHams for providing these challenges for us to work towards .
We just scraped over the threshold for this challenge cache. At GZ, Our iPhone GPS coords were bouncing around and not helping, so we put our caching hats on and soon found the hide. Thanks for the hide.

I spent an enjoyable afternoon walking around the trails here collecting a range of the many caches available. Thanks for the cache.

This weekend from 17-21/06/2021, I joined georode and gridge98 in visiting our nation's capital, Canberra for geocaching adventures. We prioritised the higher difficulty-terrain combinations, as well as the more special/unique cache types.
On Thursday, I largely spent the day solo and visited Black Hill lookout, the Botanic Gardens, Australian National University and nearby Canberra Central, and then gridge98 and I walked around the front of Parliament area in Parkes.
Friday was spent completing a few hikes in Goorooyarroo Nature Reserve and Kowen Escarpment Nature Reserve, before then meeting locals at a Friday evening dinner event.
Saturday was predominantly the UFO series in Bullen Range Conservation Reserve, targeting the higher terrain ridge area.
On Sunday, we arose to the morning's CITO event, before returning to Goorooyarroo Reserve for more walking around those hills.
Finally on Monday, gridge98 and I headed north to Yass for the Birds of Australia Wherigo series, a few climbing caches, and returning to ACT completing the UGC series.
Today, I took ownership of our rental car, with my aim of heading to the lower Black Mountain challenges. However, I was lured by the virtual cache at the top of the mountain, and so that became my first stop. A short jog around the hill, and then great views at the top of Telstra Tower.
My next visit was the Australian National Botanic Gardens, completing the *Australia's Garden* and *The Rainforest Walk* Adventure Labs. It was then on to the challenges around lower Black Mountain, spending a few hours walking around before the rain fell later in the afternoon.
My afternoon was then spent touring around Australian National University whilst following a few more Adventure Labs: *ANU*, *Everyone's a critic!* and *What's in a name?*. I then had a walk in downtown Canberra and visited Glebe Park completing that *Glebe Park Wander* Adventure Lab.
After dinner, gridge98 was grabbed from the airport, and we explored some of Parkes in front of Parliament House. A few more virtual, wherigos and Adventure Labs were completed, and we made one last stop at the National Carillon.
All up, the walk in this area detouring past all of the challenge caches and a few extras took about 2-1/4 hr. I quite enjoyed walking around this area, and most geocaches didn't take too long to find, including this one. The cache container and logbook were in good shape, although this logbook was pretty full. Thanks GreyHams for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

Thanks for the challenge.
Out and about today with the hope of spending the afternoon grabbing a collection of caches from Black Mountain.
It would seem people don't like the caches I've found which is sad cause there's some really good ones but perhaps in time they will gain the required points. Nice to get off the tracks.

#7449 (12 of 15 today)
Day 3 of my trip to Canberra for the ODI and T20 cricket. Tonight is the T20 but before that I'll be partaking of some places of interest - the Portrait Gallery, High Court and current exhibitions at the National Gallery - before the match.
Had a great time at each, and the Pub Rock exhibition at the Portrait gallery is a must see.
But before all that I headed out of my cabin at the nearby Tourist Park and did a two and a half hour walk around Mount Black collecting a swathe of challenge caches... and two Traditionals.
I planned a circular route of 14 caches, and my friend only texted me that he was awake and raring to go when I was two caches from the finish. I'd started at 6:30am. Would have been quicker, but two of the hides escaped me for a while.
Actually there were a few challenges in the area I didn't grab - two I don't qualify for, and another I do but it's close to one I don't so can leave it for another trip and grab them all together. Hopefully...
Later in the day I grabbed another traditional. Top day all around, but my feet are tired. And we lost the T20.

Just scraped in for this one. 99.9% of my caching has been done in Australia. I have two finds that are not. Probably about 95% of those are in Queensland.
My one qualifying cache has 307 favourite points and it is in Adelaide.

Walked through a swamp by torch light with GLISS! K8TYBEE and onieferret to get this one. Now to head home, dry out and discover if I meet the challenge thanks for the cache!
Second day of caching in Canberra this weekend. Weather looks a lot better then yesterday. With that said the bike came out if the car so I didn't drag it along the whole way for nothing. Lots of caches found again, thanks to all for hiding. Also made good progress towards a few goals.
