Found work buckoraider after my first night camping in Australia!Found quickly by me, while bucko was taking me to a complete different GZ despite the fact he found this cache before. Allegedly
Still up in the Honeysuckle creek area and picked up another Tankengine cache. Kutgw
Greetings from Tasmania. I arrived in Canberra for a few days to catch up on a few caches before my trip to Batemans Bay with ALL7.What a great journal to use in the country, and some of the caches. Also, the weather is so beautiful: sunny and not really cold. There is a light snow area. Signed the log with good dry.. TFTC
Got a message from ALL7 this morning asking if we wanted to join her and Groot_1983 for a spot of caching. Just what the doctor ordered at the moment and a nice metal health break from hospital duties. Nice weather and great company. Thanks for the hide Tankengine and the fun time ALL7 and Groot_1983.
Got a text from ALL7 wanna come out to catch up on caching and I said YES PLEASE so we head out the Thwara with FFLL, what a great quiet road and wasn't that cold TFTC
I texted FFLL and Groot-1983 to see if both were free to join me for a drive today.. Both say YES FREE DAY.. Zoom drive around to Country find few caches... The weather so beautiful warm not windy and cold... We are good laughing and crazy women.... thanks
After a long day of hiking Booroomba rocks, we decide to stop by this area on our way back to pick up a couple of extra caches. The 5 of us leftover used the energy we had left to climb over more rocks searching for this hide. Loci612 ended up coming out with the goods. TFTC Tankengine!
**This Cache:**I remember DNFing this cache on the 14th November 2021. But I didnt actually log a DNF, oops! As soon as we approached GZ today however the memories came FLOODING back. For some odd reason I remember searching these rocks so clearly, with other people during a nearby Community Celebration, and being totally perplexed and giving up.Once again today, despite having so many people searching, it wasnt a quick find! We circled around the boulders for a while before eventuallyI caught my eye on the prize! The hint is actually very good, even if it seems like its describing the entire area, so try to trust it! TFTC Tankengine, great to avenge this DNF / forgotten DNF. **Today:**The Ice Breakers tackle Booroomba! The group consisted of Myself, panstpeople, Scaphoid, DeadThief, Turtle284, EthisEthat, Googlehihihi, C10A + two extras. We started the day by taking two trips in DeadThiefs 4WD, as we quickly discovered the Booroomba Rocks access road is not suitable for any other vehicles! Our main target was the archived multi Temple of Nature, as well as one of Canberras oldest caches & some high terrain scrambles down the cliff! It was a hugely successful day, 10km of walking and all the main targets were conquered, only missed a couple on the way back! Got out of Namadgi before sunset too! Thanks to all the COs
#4926 With 5 of us scrambling around the boulders it was only a matter of time before the hiding place would be revealed.Loci612 came up with the goods and added our names to a nice fresh log. Cheers TE.
I didn't spend long looking for this cache as it was very windy and lightly snowing on us. I will be back. Thanks Tankengine
I'm out and about in Namadgi today with my family to explore Legoland, and we decided to check out the old Honeysuckle Creek tracking station while we were at it too! While everyone else was taking in the information boards, I wandered back here to grab this trad.Even with the hint in mind, there were plenty of spots to check and I took a few minutes scrambling amongst them all until I finally caught sight of an anticipated container.I dislodged it from its hiding spot to sign the log before securely returning it all in place. Thanks to Tankengine for placing this one here!
Day number four in Canberra and surrounds for the OzMega Geobash across the Easter weekend. Was back in towards the capital this morning to complete my tour of around Parliament House and grab a few more caches in the area. The plan for today with the WA5 (I C Nothing, meme28, geotrakka, Burns345 & myself) was to target caches with high favourite points and at higher altitudes. As expected today filled with a fantastic variety of cache types and containers that highlighted the ACT caching communitys creativity and sense of adventure. And with a bigger group each were located quickly. The evening was a little slower than the last few days with the WA5 joining another group of West Aussies for the quiz night at the event site. Thanks Tankengine for placing Apollo Antenna for me and others to find.I added my name to the log at 12:09 on 30/3/2024.This is find number 8573 for me.
Over here for Canberra Mega from Western Australia picking up caches and meeting like persons. TFTC signed as WA5 (Geotrakka Meme28 Burns345 ic_nothing cirrus_wa)
We have been spoilt with these beautiful Canberra days. We cant complain about how this GeoBash week is going!Out and about with our WA5 team Burns345 Geotrakka ICNothing and Cirrus_WA collecting some targeted caches on our list!Logs signed as WA5.Happy to make the find here in this beautiful setting!Cache found with no issues. Cheers!
Having a great time at my first Mega arriving from WA. I have my eye on high favourited caches and trying to fill my grid today. Signing as a team - WA5Some logs are delayed - Apologies for that- its been hectic trying to keep up! Many thanks Tankengine for placing this hide for me to find and adding to my adventures.
Part of the Sandgroper contingent that has come to the Mega to explore new hunting grounds. Its sure to be a great week with many finds and laughs with lots of great friends and maybe some new ones along the way. Thank you for placing this cache for our enjoyment. Logged as WA5
Spent Saturday night camping in this beautiful place. Lovely stroll and quick find. Signed UG tftc TE
Word down the corridors of NASA is were heading back to the moon sooner rather than later! Which begs the questionwho will be the first to hide a cache on the moon?My money is on this CO Quick find in amongst the boulders on a windy day in the ACT, although its pretty sheltered down here. Thanks!
Out for a spontaneous camp to Honeysuckle Campground. Although seasoned campers made a rookie error escorting kids over to toilet without putting away breakfast ingredients and came back to two ravens off scoffing our raw eggs yet to be cooked - hilarious cheekiness and slim pickings for us.
Realised we hadn’t scooped this one previously so quick nip up the hill. TFTC Tankengine!

A weekend with the family in Namadgi. Today we had planned to go for a nice walk up on the Legoland ridge line not realizing that that road was closed. Change of plans to find some caches at the tracking station.
Reading the logs I thought ths might take too long but going buy the GPS in conjunction with the hint and knowing the COs MO it was a much quicker find than expected all in good order.
Thank you Tankengine for putting the cache out and maintaining it.

Phew got there in the end! Made this one a bit harder than it needed to be. Tftc
We had hoped to find this one today but alas it wasn’t to be. I scratched around in quite a few spots for a bit but decided to pull the pin.

25,373. Found with minniek, albida33 and cosmonaut97 during a caching adventure down in Namadgi prior to the secret santa event today.
With a Plan A walk in Canberra postponed, we quickly came up with a Plan B trip down into Namadgi. minniek and I missed the last trip up here a few weeks ago due to the weather, but today was fine. I haven't been out here for years, so there were a few caches on offer which was great. This was the next of the collection. well this took far longer than mabye it should have. We persevered and FINALLY came up with the goods. phew. Signed the log, replaced the cache as found, then we headed off to the next one on our list.
Thanks Tankengine !!

Today cosmonaut97 joined albida33, fitzy_1965 and I for a jaunt around Namadgi.
We thought we would try our luck and see if some roads were now open after the recent rains. After a fairly successful day we returned to Canberra in time for the Annual Christmas Secret Santa event. fitzy and I then drove home and collapsed on the lounge after another full weekend.
This one took a bit longer than it should but glad to come away with the find.

Today was supposed to be all about a walk to Boroomba rocks, but with all the rain the access road was closed, which made it a bit far for me in this very changeable and mostly wet weather. I joined Sol de Lune and Smitten Granny for the journey to Honeysuckle creek. First was the event at the new car park. A few hardy souls went on for the walk up, well done. The rest of us did the caches around the Tracking station, including a short walk down to the nearby creek. This area is great and the immediate vicinity seems to be recovering from the fires all right.

After a better night sleep at Condor I am ready for the important day. Hopefully the weather is going to be better than the last few days. Into Namadgi today for an event and a walk. This will put me on 20000 !! Woohoo, good milestone that I am proud of. After that caching my way home for a good night sleep in a bed.

What an amazing way to start my holidays from work. Geo-events, traveling, meeting up with friends and finding many different caches made it fun! It’s so nice to finally be able to do all these things… again. The following descriptions are my adventures between the days of 12/11/21 and 16/11/21. Each cache has been logged to the end of my adventures for the day of finding them. If you would like to read my full log, please find it on any cache I found on the 16/11/21.
Day #1: I finished work at 4pm and headed over to Wagga for the only GIFF event in NSW. Apart from the CO, I was the first to arrive at the event. It was great to finally attend a Geocaching after many months without them. All talk Geo was had by all until we were told that dinner was ready. Soon after, the popcorn was ready and the movies were on. Congratulations to all the GIFF finalists and they were all a great watch. Also, Congratulations to BMG for receiving the FTF on the event. Then it was time to head home and get ready to head to Canberra for the next few days.
Day #2: I was nearly late to my own event. O’well… It was still fun with the small group of us that turned up. We also discovered many Moveable caches before heading off to today’s main goal. This happened to be finding the ‘A’ part of the GA geo-art series as well as the lone GC caches around the area which I hadn’t found as I pasted by them. I wasn’t alone as AKM came for the walk as well. After finding all but the last two we headed our separate ways as it started raining heavier. Hopefully, it won’t be raining tomorrow so the event goes ahead but well will need to see. Also pizza for dinner tonight.
Day #3: Today’s adventures included the CCE down in Booroomba and as many of the nearby caches as possible. I didn’t do the walk to the ‘Booroomba Rocks’ but I am still able to log the event. I then headed off with a large group of others to find the nearby caches. After that, I caught a lift with Kittykatch, Joolay, isopeda and Barb2e and we headed down to the ACT boarder finding the caches along the way many caches were found and a new GCA cache placed (Gudgenby – GA25097). It was great to see some ammo cans out in the wild, even if they were slightly damaged by the fires. As we arrived back in Tharwa we had afternoon tea and headed our separate ways. Another great day and so much more to go.
TB visit on all found caches. I would like to thank all CO's of the caches I found and for allowing them to bring me and the rest of the caching community enjoyment.

After a DNF back in Feb 19, I was back at this one with a group after the nearby event. Poked around for while before someone made the find. The horrible weedy stuff around the area made the hide even a little harder today, but the find was made so I could change this one to a find. Basil will be pleased.
Thanks TE, better late than never.

Having attended the nearby Event, a group of us set out in search of some of the other caches in the area. There was a fair sized mob looking for this one and were all pleased when Wilbur produced it for our names/initials to be added. TFTC TE
After the Community Event, we went for a stroll around Honeysuckle to pick up some of the caches. With Joolay, Kittykatch, Barb2e, Wilbert67, Albida33, Sol De Lune, Johnno Mawbs, etc. Not everyone got every cache.

This is such an interesting place to explore. Found GZ and then though hmmmm which one. GeoD came up with the goods pretty quickly. Cache in good condition. Tftc
That was a bit tricky. So many potential hides. Enjoyed our expanding freedoms and went for a drive today to check out the bush. Its recovering slowly.

My first visit to Honeysuckle since the fires. Great to see the campground site survived but still very confronting to see all the damage in the bush. There is regrowth everywhere which brings its own challenges with off-track walking up here.
This was a straightforward find in the obvious spot, and glad that this cache too has survived the fires intact. The log is in good condition.
Thanks, Tankengine.

TFTC First time out in these parts for a long time. Great to be back out here and enjoying this beautiful part of Namadgi once again. So peaceful on a crisp autumn day, the birds are singing, and muggles about.
Grateful thanks to CO for placing and maintaining the caches to entertain me on my journey.

#5686 2nd for today
I decided I need to head to the hills today, so I chose HoneySuckle creek to try and grab a few new caches as well as a few I had DNFd last time I was up here. I can't say I had a lot of luck today. Missing info and difficult/time-consuming hunts resulted in a low number of finds, but it was such a lovely spot and the weather was fine, if a little on the warm side. Hard to be disappointed when in such a place.
One of the simpler caches today. I appreciated that.
Thanks Tankengine

On a day out and about and there were a last few to pick up. Had CO, Aquilus1 and DTY73 with me but they let me find it. Been a great day and totally exhausted. Just love this area and they have done so much to improve it. Lots of people camping out there today and what fabulous weather. TFTC
I came here on the anniversary of the moon landing but the place was overrun by muggles. Today, I was the only car in the carpark so I was comfortable having a good look around. This one was quickly found by standing at GZ and scanning for a rock arrangement that fitted the clue.

I was here recently with friends, checking out the old Space memorabilia. But decided to return to find the nearby caches. This one didn't take long to seek out. Clever little contraption. Tftc
Tried to go to Legoland but road was closed due to the moon landing anniversary so found some cache. TFTC
It was freezing out here today with a gale blowing and sleet falling but we braved the bitter wind and made a quick find.

Out for a morning's caching with JBACT. Honeysuckle was our first point to start at. A bit of searching as the GPS kept changing its mind where to look, and when the gps settled more searching before JBACT saw the cache. TFTC.
Closing in on my goal to log all the trads in NNP, Marmaduke Rothschild and I headed out to Honeysuckle Creek and the road to Booroomba Rocks this morning to clear out the new ones in this area. Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache TE. Always first class hardware.
Found this cache on Monday but forgot to log it. A few workman 100m away were working on a
new project there, so will be interested to see what it is when finished.
Cache was well hidden but found and logged and returned quickly.
Many thanks to tankengine for the Space themed cache.

It was nice to revisit and go for a drive back out to this historic site! The footprint of the old structures always impress and trying to piece it all back together in our minds.
Cache was found, but not after a significant search. Another case of not getting down low and go go go!
Cache in good condition and it was off to explore a little more .

Attending the Queanbeyan Clear Waters mega event, this was my final day. I teamed up with e.gregory1 today, as we headed south from the city, and geocache in and around Namadgi National Park. Another nice day with great weather, apart from the thunderstorm that rolled through towards the end of a day. It wasn't a day of high finds, but some great targeted caches, awesome scenery, and interesting history at Honeysuckle Creek Tracking Station, which was linked to assisting with communicating the moon landing.
A cool location that had e.gregory1 and I hunting around the rocks for five minutes, before I found the cache. I'm loving these containers and securing mechanisms! The cache container and contents were in good shape. Thanks Tankengine for its placement and ongoing maintenance.

Today was the final day of the Clear Water Mega event in Queanbeyan. I teamed up with a fellow South Australian geocacher and spent much of the day south of the city in and around the Namadgi National Park.
We had another day of great weather until late in the afternoon when a thunderstorm passed over. Fortunately we were pretty much finished and headed back by then.
This was a really interesting area, and a chance to reacquaint myself with a bit of Australia’s history that I’d forgotten about.
Thanks Tankengine for the cache.

Took a little while with lots of places to check and the GPS wandering a bit. Eventually spotted it and then noticed the attachment (it's always in that order for some reason).
Thanks,
Thanks,
I can be a persistent bugger. Took the motorised 2-wheeler out for a spin before the forecast rain. What can I say ! Didn't bring the GPS. Started my search from the big rock that the GPS had always centred on. Spent 15 minutes in the area I thought it must be - Just about to give up when I went in the opposite direction. How didn't I see that ????? Nothing overly tricky and about 2 metres from where the search had started. Always said I was the worst searcher - I rest my case!
A beautiful day in the low twenties perfect for walking.
A very good hide as per 'Tankengine' style. We were very lucky to find the cache in the first place we looked but not before looking carefully as his caches are cleverly placed and not normally found in the first instance. TFTC Tankengine.

Finally! After all this hot weather, along comes a Sunday (the day muggle hubby and I set aside for bushwalking adventures) that is mild enough to get out and about in the great outdoors. I haven't been out to the Honeysuckle Creek before, so it was a good opportunity for a history lesson, a bit of a walk, some bird spotting, and a cache or two. Unlike other cachers, I surprisingly found it with relative ease, not relying on the Garmin, but just looking. TFTC TankEngine

Making my way slowly back to Canberra after a FTF at Horse Gully Hut. I was mentally prepared for a long search here based on previous logs, so once close GZ, I waited at about 12m away to survey the scene and wait for the GPS to settle. I then slowly moved towards GZ, keeping an eye out for the hiding spot as per the hnt. Within 5 minutes the cache was signed and returned. Phew. The GPS said 3m +/- 3m. TFTC.

Had another go ! Nah, not a difficulty 2 considering the time a number of experienced cachers have put into the search. Doubt I will be back
Tankengine had a plan for a few caches he wanted to put out and when he asked if I wanted to join in the fun of course I was going to jump at the chance.
We arrived to find the some of the Rangers doing a massive clean up of the car park and surrounding areas. We parked in the clean spot and walked off over the GZ, scoping out the area to find the best place. There was a great spot over at the boulders not too far away from here, but we just couldn't place the cache there safely away from muggles.
We then found this spot, a typical TE hide amongst the rocks. It was a good spot to be out of site of the Rangers while TE squatted behind the big rocks, clamping the clasp on the wire through the little rocks.
Thanks of the fun Tankengine!!!

As no-one had logged a find, Sol and myself headed out earyish (especially for 2 distinguished gentlemen who had worked a night shift last night). Spent quite some time on first go, went away to try the other (which also hadn't been logged) before coming back for a further dig. Quite a few places that matched the hint but no luck for us.
*FTF* 6.45am with GreyHams and Darksidedan.
GreyHams mentioned that he was still to find a new cache for this month, and would I like to head out to the new ones out here as well? Well, sure I would! It was to be an early start though and I had a deadline to be at work by but it should still be plenty of time to make the trip out and get back in time.
The last bit of the drive and the number of Kangaroos and wallabies on and by the roadside had me thinking that no car had been through lately, was a slow trip in and glad of the daylight by now. A few wombats earlier, some stayed roadside and of course there is always that one that makes the slow wander across the road to make you stop, I'm sure they wait and do it on purpose!
Arrived and parked next to a familiar car, couldn't see anyone at GZ and when closer Dan popped up out of the rocks! Not sure if we had made it in time it seems we had, although this cache was being very elusive...
Not surprising with so many hiding spots in the area, found a general location that seemed close enough to the phones gps, then not to be trusted it was phone in the pocket and a search approach for the hinted location. Perhaps we got really lucky but it was just a short search of a few minutes today!!! Will take that any day though and log soon signed for a joint FTF.
Thanks for the cache Tankengine, with one more new cache yet to be found we continued on together to it. A nice morning to be out and so much better to be out in the area than a day at work anyday! Reality always there though and with a deadline to stick to, we spent a bit of the available morning caching around some of the other yet to be found caches before parting ways with DSD and making the drive back and into work, perfectly timed and arriving right on time!

Aquilus1 and myself headed out early this morning to try nab some FTF's, we started in darkness and by the time we arrived at GZ it was light enough for us to make a search and we got lucky with this one. As we arrived we saw DarkSideDan pop up but luckily for us he hadn't as yet made the elusive *FTF* . Aquilus1 brought her super Team Skills to the fore and was the real hero of this find.... 2 minutes to find... not bad.
Woohoo…! [FTF] at about 0645. I saw this cache pop into my email yesterday and was surprised that no one went straight out to collect them. I hatched a plan to snag the FTF. Getting up at 0400 I jumped in the car and drove all the way from Amaroo to Honeysuckle Creek. Arrived at about 0500. I went to this FTF first but I could not find it after spending 40 min looking for it. I went to another FTF close by before returning to this GZ. Looking all over the GZ with a flashlight I could not find the Cache. In total had been looking and scratching all around like a chicken for over 45 min before Lisa and Graham walked up. Lisa made the find about 3 meters from where I had been looking I signed the virgin logbook Darksidedan. Thanks for the adventure and the cache.
Well, the first to find mob did better than Agent Basil and I. We looked for a 30 minutes before heading off for the 'Hoon' and after a quick back to this one for 20 minutes before admitting defeat. A few areas that matched the hint, but alas nothing was found.
