Loci612 and I were first to arrive for this CITO. We grabbed our bag and headed into the underground tunnels where we filled our bag in less than 10 min. There was no pathtag for this event like previous Mega CITO's
some others and I found this cache whilst out and about. I am now catching up from some geocache logging after the ozgeomuster and the rest of the weeks full of geocaching. TFTC co's. i apologize for all of the generic logs
Had a great time picking up rubbish with my friends

It was fantastic to see so many people cleaning up this beautiful location today. I managed to scoop up quite a large bag of all sorts of rubbish, and with the weight of it, could barely get it back to the pick up point on my own...but got there in the end. So great to see so many bags of rubbish at the end of the event. We had some really good feedback from council with our efforts. Well done to all.
Gratias OZGM.

A group of five of us from Auckland, New Zealand have embarked ourselves upon Australian territory to while away the time here at the MEGA and to gather up some old caches and see the country wile we’re at it.
Aaaah! The CITO, gotta have one of these at a MEGA!! So I wanted to help too, but there were many people about who have cleaned up the obvious areas, so where to clean? I thought one spot that would be overlooked because of where it was, was over the steep edge of the view, so that's where I went, but really 10 bags wouldn't have been enough to clean up all the rubbish I saw, but I did a bit anyway. Fotos taken, and onwards we went.
All logs while in Australia were signed as NZ MEGA 2020 to save space. We are FMZ, Agazo, rustynz, harisree and myself.

Came along to join in the clean up. Is a shame to see so much rubbish dumped at such a lovely spot.

Kiwi Caching Chicks are in Aussie! We are Nosynel, Infoferret, Jude_E, (thedbees, graciesgpsfun some times) and Ethness. Over from NZ for the Ozgeomuster and trying to do as many caches as we can in the time we have here. A good spot for a CITO. Lots of rubbish. Beatiful day. Thanks for organising!

Thanks for organising this. Great turnout and a nice area, nicer after this event. Attended with NZ Mega 2020 team. TFTC!!!
Hopefully saved some rubbish from getting in the ocean . Thanks for organising
Had a good time and picked up a lot of trash. Found a creepy tunnel or two and some abandoned bunkers
TFTC and for bringing us to this one place which is so picturesque. Hope we all helped clean up Port Kembla.

Found quite a bit rubbish around the place. It would seem that the locals have a preference for McDonalds over KFC.

In town for the 'Gong Mega and of course a CITO is de rigueur.
Obviously I went to the original location first, then corrected my approach. In other words, pretty standard geocaching .
The area was actually quite clean, so almost a waste to have so much available manpower. Or womanpower. I was keen to combine some interests and abseil down the slopes and cliffs to pick up rubbish, but there was none. Eventually I made my way up a slope and was finally rewarded by a few bottles and cans, with a bonus trad cache at the top. Then back down the hill and to the registration station.
What a stunning location for a CITO!
Thanks for arranging it, ozgeomuster.

I always feel good after CITO. Helped others clean up a tv, wood with nails, etc, etc. Met some new cachers and caught up with others who I first met yesterday. Even heard about a challenging cache - GC86VFJ - but don’t think it will be one we try - missing one piece of equipment (which we couldn’t put in our hand luggage from NZ) and I am not sure which one of us will climb that far.
Spotted this animal sunning itself -best photo I could take.

Up from Canberra to attend the Mega at The Gong! Had a blast over the 4 days which focused on socialising, the events, grabbing all of the lab caches and a few others along the way!
Day three of the Mega and it was time to clean up some trash at the CITO. A last minute location change saw us gather up at the lookout. No worries as this spot clearly needed a clean up judging by the many, many, bags of trash collected! An unusual find was a headless, cement swan! All up a productive result!

Arrived after the induction, but still managed to do my bit in cleaning up Hill 60.

The first for today, I headed here to join the huge gang to clean up this part of the world.
We arrived at a spot that had a fair amount of rubbish, it also appeared to be someone's home at one stage and it wasn't long before the bag was full.

Thanks for arranging this CITO. It was interesting to explore the military tunnels while picking up rubbish, the amount of rubbish was surprising for what appeared to be a rather clean area.
Thank you to everyone who came to help!
As a major sponsor, Wollongong City Council picked the location for us, and it was just beautiful! Even more so now we collected so much rubbish ??

Morning of Day 3 and down the mountain we go again. The CITO was in such a beautiful location, and the group sure did pick up a lot of rubbish. I remember the underground cache here which I found a few years ago - pity its gone..

Arrived in Sydney from New Zealand Feilding on the 5th July and early next morning headed straight to do some caching in the Mega area and happy to finally get the opportunity to collect some light house puzzle caches. a great series enjoyed by so many fellow geocaches great to have a trail and enjoy a Mega close by. Thank you for taking the time to place so many variety of caches we know how many hours it takes to put out a geoart. You chose a lovely area to explore well done. Its finally time for us to move on from the Mega today but not before collecting a few more caches and attending the CITO event. we arrived at ground zero with no one around then looked up the event and saw new co ordinates so off we went but first to get a tradional cache then sign in to this event and go get some rubbish its amazing once you start looking there is quite alot around. thank you for putting the event on.
By the time I got there, the area was pretty well picked clean, so it turned into more of a social event for me. TFTE.

Day three of the OZGM19 Mega saw fitzy_1965, Alibida33, GSC2000 and myself heading back down into the Wollongong area for the day. Started the day off in Port Kembla with the CITO.
We did our bit of cleaning then had a great chat with Jeff the Lackey. What a very insightful guy.

Beautiful views at the CITO Smittengranny and I wandered around the headlands searching for that last sneaky collection of rubbish that had been hidden from view. Thanks for the excuse to come down this way and give a little back to our beautiful earth.
Out adventuring with Joolay Kittykatch and Smitten Granny on my first full day at the Mega in Wollongong. Such a diversity of caches today, with CITO’s Puzzles, Trads and even the odd Trig. Thanks everyone for the awesome day!

A MEGA CiTO that is for sure!
And no, I am not talking about it being at a Mega event, but the MEGA amounts of rubbish that were found at this location [:o]
Myself and DSD were one of the first participants to arrive, we grabbed one of the awesome cloth bags and headed down a hill following a trail of rubbish.
But that trail led us to masses of rubbish! We found the underground tunnels and DOZENS of paint cans. We probably put about 20 paint cans alone into our bag, and around 30-50 drink containers including glass bottles, cans and plastic.
We then found a big paint tin hidden in one of the rooms, about the size of my head! So added that to the collection.
We popped out the other side and found a place teenagers must hang out after doing their graffiti, obvious signs of a fire that has been made here and lots more bottles thrown down the hill into the bushes. We only managed to retrieve a small amount of what was there before our bag was already nearing full!
Not too mention the broken and rusty golf buggy we found! Lucky it was already snapped and bent so we could just fit it in.
Thanks to Oz Geomuster for holding this CITO and I think the council picked the best location! Glad we could clean it up

There was plenty of trash to be outted in this location. While working our way down the road to the bottom, I spotted a blue-tongued lizard - as a Kiwi this made me freeze in my boots as I thought it was a snake (also screamed:). Glad to give back to this lovely community.
Day 4: A group of Westies (rustynz, harisree, Gorby, FMZ and Agazo - temporary Westie visa holder), are in Australia from NZ to attend the OZGeoMuster MEGA in Wollongong. All logs have been signed NZMEGA 2020
Its a new day, and we are keen. We ended up parking in the upper carpark, and took the short walk to the trig and the traditional cache.
I had a bag and some gloves, so started picking up the small stuff. I have never seen, or picked up so many cigarette buts. Everywhere I looked, flicked into the grass, where buts in various states of decay, bleached white, paper peeling.
Sadly it seemed the locals treat this place like one giant ash tray
It is a beautiful day, stunning location, and after this CITO, a little cleaner.

This was our first stop for the day. Took us a little while to work out where we were meant to be but eventually found the right place and no one else there yet. We set off with some of us picking up and others carrying the bags. Very interesting area. Hope to explore it more at a later time. Happy to lend a hand.
Enjoying being at the OZmega and having a look at the Wooloongong area today.
Came down to this event with AyKayEm so it was a nice change to have a competant navigator to reliably direct travel rather than that silly dyslexic Google maps! We were a little late due to the change of venue, but we still found some rubbish before going to find some caches. What a lovely area and much tidier now.

Arrived here just in time and was a little concerned that we were in the wrong place. All of a sudden, cars started pouring into the carpark and soon it was full. Lots turned up to lend a hand which was great to see. Thanks for organising this event.
Oz Geomuster 2019 Wollongong at Cataract Scout Park. Day four was another day of caching around Wollongong wit Fitzy and MinnieK. We started by finishing the Wollongong LAB caches up near the Bulli lookouts and then went to the Pt Kembla CITO. After that it was a fun day of getting caches that a few of us as possible had not done before.
It did not seem that too many people were here when we started, but the crowd soon grew. A nice sunny morning and a good bag full of rubbish was collected by our group. It is nice to take a bit of time to participate in local community activities.
Thanks.

After going to the pathtag swap at Appin drove down for the CITO got to where my GPSr said but no one around then Muppet turned up. Looked up the logs found new coords. Not far so drove over there. Picked up a bag and headed down to the bottom. Passed the group halfway down the hill. Decided to check out the rocks. Spent 40 minutes there amongst the things I found were 2 socks from different pairs 1 flipper a pair of jeans 3 nasty looking hooks. Lots of plastic & aluminium cans. After watching the rerun of " the war on waste" I was expecting to find more than one plastic straw. Then there was the long crawl back up the hill to place the bags with the rest. Couldn't find anyone around
Thanks for bringing me to the area and thanks for running the CITO

I departed Seattle on Tuesday evening to begin an eight day adventure in both Australia and New Zealand. I flew to Los Angeles and then on to Sydney landing early on Thursday morning. I am here for the OZGeomuster 2019 "The Gong" Mega event down in Wollongong as a Lackey geocaching ambassador. I will be spending the next four and a half days down in the Wollongong area, geocaching with a lot of the locals. Then I will return to Sydney and fly over "the Ditch" to Wellington where I will spend two days before returning to Sydney for the long flight back to the "States" and finally home to Seattle.
Day five of my eight day adventure and today is my last day down here because I am flying over to Wellington, NZ early this evening for two days of caching. The first thing that on the schedule is to attend this CITO event so I teamed up with Marcus Vitruvious and ChildOfAtom to clean up this area. I did enjoy exploring these old WWII gun bunkers as well as the view from this area.
Thanks for organizing this CITO event to allow us to give back to this wonderful community.

I was in the area for the OZGM and associated events, and decided to jump in the car with echocage1 and come to this together, rather than each be another one person in a car driving all the way down here and back. We got here a bit late ... just in time to sign the log ... but still managed to find a heap of rubbish in under some trees and bushes, before heading over to find a nearby cache, then off to pick up some of the lighthouse Geoart ...
TFTE ... I might have to come here again sometime, for a better look, and maybe even have a walk on the beach (feels weird that I was near the beach, and didn't actually do that - lol)

My trip out of the gong was supposed to commence earlier in the morning, but some last minute plan revisions (DNF's will do that) meant I was still around. Arrived a little late and wondered whether I had accidentally corrected the coordinates. Eventually realised what was going on and was able to help in a somewhat small way before making my way off toward the Sapphire Coast.
Great area for a CITO - plenty of scenic views and it turns out there was masses of rubbish too!

We ventured out for this CITO today and arrived at the listed coordinates with no one around. We decided to correct some rubbish with the bags we had and do our bit for the environment.
it was a bit later we discovered the event had moved so we made our way to the new GZ. on arrival we met with a couple of teams and dropped off our bags as well.
Our thanks to Ozgeomuster for hosting the CITO, I wonder if it would have been better to change the page coordinates as well.

Arrived late! Went to the original spot and found it void of cachers!! Quick check of the logs and we noted the new coords and quickly made the short detour. Made a contributions to some bags already in play. With the amount of bags already filled it was more Han impressive.

Great location for a CITO with nice views, showcasing the area.
Port Kemble has always been known for its rubbish issues, and with views like these, why do people spoil it.... good to give back to the council for a perfectly located Mega..

Went to the original coordinates first but eventually made our way to relocated site where many white bags were being distributed and instructions given.
Thanks for organising the CITO event , another great job by dedicated geocachers.

Good to be part of a well turned out Event in a lovely location. Our group collected several bags and even found a old type TV set...wow, how did that get there!!??
Thanks for organising ozgeomuster ????

Its not everyday that you get to do a CITO so after juggling a few work commitments I was able to duck out and join the crowd who were also doing their bit to tidy up the area.
After a small bag of rubbish and a bit of a recce for a potential hide it was time to head back to work. Good luck to all of those who have the day off.
Thanks

It's always nice to leave a place better for you having visited. CITOs are a great way to help the community whilst having a good social time with like-minded people.
Attended the CITO this morning and picked up an assortment of rubbish. As well as the usual stuff we found a couple of different pieces of footwear, some bongs, some fireworks and a milk crate. It's amazing what people who don't care leave behind. Thanks go to ozgeomuster for organising this event to make a difference to the environment around this beautiful area.
Picked up a great deal of rubbish, nice to contribute and leave a spot cleaner than it was found!
Thanks ozgeomuster for placing this geocaches 7216 find for me. CITO was first on the list after listening to Cully's talk. The next plan was to find our final GEO art, followed by the dam lab cache. Anything in-between was a bonus.
The time has finally arrived for a massive Australian road trip with The Kiwi Chicks. We are GraciesGPSfun , thedbees , Ethness, Infoferret , Jude_E and me Nosynel. We might sometimes sign the geocaches as KCs or TKCs.
We found a lot of rubbish. Some was too large to carry. Unfortunately we had to leave it there. The park had beautiful views. I think our bag was about half full.
Sadly there was no large event in New Zealand in 2019 but there are a few Mega events planned in Australia. New Zealand will have another large event in 2020 in Auckland.
======== NZ Mega 2020 ========
Planning for the NZ Mega 2020 event is well underway. It will be held in Auckland over Labour Weekend, 23 to 26 October 2020. Thanks for hiding this geocache.

As the Mega festivities wrapped up this event was too close to work to ignore. Managed to make it up the hill to collect some rubbish and soon again I was on my way back to paying the bills. TFTE!
I had trouble finding this event, as it wasn't where the coordinates led me, but fortunately I met some other geocachers who directed me. I first saw the message about the change tonight, as I had left for the event before it was sent.
I had collected a bag of rubbish elsewhere and brought it to the event. TFTC.

Signed myself in, collected a very large bag and did my best to fill it with rubbish before heading south Thanks for organising this ozgeomuster
Had a great time exploring the war tunnels and seeing the great views while tidying up here. Thanks for organising this event!
Was happy to help with the clean up. Came with goingplaces2 and picked up very large bags. It was amazing how much they would hold and they got heavy with all the rubbish collected. A job well done by all who attended. Thanks geomuster for organising this event.
Thanks for arranging this CITO. It was interesting to explore the military tunnels while picking up rubbish.
Arrived at the CITO to find cars doing U turns and heading back... err did we miss something? Clearly we did as we were told the CITO had moved to the other side of the hill. Arrived in time for the briefing, grabbed a bag to fill and picked up a pair of long handled pruners in some of the first bushes we cleaned around. These came in terrifically handy for reaching rubbish in tight places. [^] Finally CITO'd our way to the cache at the trig cause you can't ignore one that close. One of the best locations we've CITO'd, the views are marvellous. Really enjoyed this event, thanks ozgeomuster.
I had a great time at the event ozgeomuster. Thanks for organising it. Papi4506, Geoturtle37, OzHockeyChick and myself managed to clear the *** room.
Day 282 - It being the last day of the event today is the log for the event and it was a great day with the cito and collect a lab and some other items today but nothing like it should have been but hey thats caching.
The necessary of a cleanup the only disappointment was that we were not staying in the council area that supported the event but that is what it was as the area near the camp was in more need of a bit of a clean up than the area we attended but it still produced the rubbish for collection some people really like to just drop stuff especially those dirty but suckers.
Thanks for this cito ozgeomuster.

An honor to be a part of tidying up a country that has been so gracious and welcoming. Thanks for the cache.
I travelled with Nibletricecakes today. We arrived about 10:30, grabbed a bag and set off to find some rubbish. We didn't have much luck until we were returning. There right in front of where we picked up our bag we found a lot more than anywhere else. It was in the bushes in front of all the parked cars. It took a bit of crawling to retrieve the bottles, slushy containers and yuk yuk yuk cigarette butts and what may have been toilet paper.
The place definitely looked better after we had all finished. Thanks for organising.

When we arrived at the advertised coordinates, we learnt that the marshalling point for the CITO had been changed because of road works. So we moved on to the new location. Many people spent time collecting the rubbish that others had thoughtlessly thrown on the ground. We went went down onto the area around the sewage treatment plant and, with others collected a lot of rubbish. The most distressing was the very large amount of fishing line that had been discarded despite a special container having been installed very close by. Our collective efforts made the area much cleaner that before we arrived. Thanks OZgeomuster for arranging this very enjoyable event, one which gives something back to the community.
Plan to attend.
Besides, I want to go and look at the spot of my first home and it's very close by. It's now the garden of a mall, but still like to visit Only second time I will have been back.
