Tftc. The area itself - very disappointed at the amount of hard waste discarded here. We are so lucky to live in such a beautiful country. It's a shame some individuals forget that.
Having come down to Bacchus Marsh for a few nights, it was time to head back home to Adelaide. The plan was, however, to spend a few days making the drive back, finding caches along the way. Todays efforts mainly consisted of targeting more caches that would help me with challenges; were situated in LGAs I had not cached in; filled uncompleted Jasmer spots; and numerous caches in between. I meandered my way along either side of the freeway, finding the desired caches before eventually calling it a night once the sun had set and I needed to find a place to stay for the night. Despite not making much distance back to Adelaide, it was a good day of caching as the desired caches were found in some quality locations. Apologies for the generic log as I have quite a few to write following this trip.Find #9779, at 02:18 pmTFTC
Find 503 on 4 May 2024Great little cache in a area I rarely go. TFTC The_Tritonz

It is great to see how all the plants have grown, pity about the rubbish. Thanks for the cache.
Found It.........With Mr H_3's holidays fast running out we decided to have a caching road trip. After setting off we found ourselves popping out just down the road on our way to the nearby cemetery so we pulled up here to grab this one. Once out of the car Mr H_3 spotted something that needed more investigation and bingo. So with the log signed we continued our journey. Thanks The Tritonz for the cache
A quick find on the day after we watched a bush fire burn just over the Ridge from our home. Thankfully all is well today. Tftc. We can never be complacent around fore.
Out today for a few caches with Mrs Cogs introducing her mother to the world of Geocaching. After walking the well trodden trail and missing the obvious I had a regroup and thought about it. Thirty seconds later the cache was in my hand.TFTC
Quick grab on the way back to Ballarat from Geelong. Good excuse to stop and grab my drink from the boot.
On a cache maintenance run we checked this container and logbook and all is good here.
The impact of this event on Victoria was absolutely devastating. I didn’t live here back then, but I was visiting at the time, the smoke was so thick it was overwhelming. At the GZ, you can witness the aftermath of the fires, with new growth alongside the the burnt out stumps. My heart goes out to the farmer; it seems he was trying to do the right thing by slashing the grass, but it turned into such an unfortunate accident. Thanks for placing this cache here. The container and log are in good shape. TFTC!
Quick pull up and find. Log signed and replaced, with lid locked down. TFTC
Sadly, it looks like this wayside stop is becoming a dumping ground for rubbish.

Found with Tyred n Cranky.
A family weekend away in Anglesea. Down here to enjoy and cache the area.
Last time I was in Anglesea was Oct 2018 and I had left a few unfound. So back again to claim some more finds in the area and tackle the AdLabs
After a coffee at the tennis courts, this one was a super quick park n grab as the rain had subsided. I managed to get back in the van before the next shower started.
This is the 4th cache (I think) I've found in this small parking bay over the years.

In Anglesea for a couple of days with Geodog Penny on board and staying at 'Maroo Park Cottages'
Today, before heading home we went into Anglesea to have a look around, take Penny for a paddle on the beach and to find some caches of course.
Then it was back to our Cottage, via the Chocolate Factory for a look, to have some lunch and pack up and head for home.
On the way we went via Bellbrae to find a couple of caches in the area.
Along the road a bit we discovered a couple of other close by caches that we could stop off and get and this was one of them.
We know this area well as whenever we come down this way we always stopped here for a cuppa and if we had Penny on board it was a good place to give her a run.
Today we had to be extra quick as it had not long started to rain heavily but we still managed to locate the cache and sign the log. (The multi's we planned to do nearby, we didn't, due to the weather so they have to wait for another day)

Found and signed cache..burnt trees stark reminder of what happened, unfortunate to see so much rubbish in the area.
Stopped off on the way home from the travel expo at Geelong. Parked close to GZ and then headed off to GZ where the cache was a quick find. Log signed and it was time for one more on the run home.
Thanks for the cache The Tritonz. Looking at the area today you would never know how badly it was affected by the fire. Thanks also for highlighting the history...

Found with PapaGrouch. Pulled into the layover and parked nearby. Spotted a likely spot and there was the cache. A great pity that people have chosen to dump huge piles of rubbish in the area. TFTC
Accurate coordinates made this a quick find , all's good at gz. TFTC The_Tritonz
Quick stop in between showers on the trip to Ballarat. Cache still good and well hidden. I remember that fire well. TFTC
Once again on the A300 heading north, though this time only to Ballarat, for a family celebration. As with any such visit a quick check of the available caches along the road brought up this one which we have managed to overlook on our way north, but **not** this time! One of those "if I was the CO moments" and the cache was in hand. An unfamilar version of the usual, but access was eventually made! Left one of the last red geonickels! TFTC
A nice little rest stop. I do like the table and chairs. Seem very out of place.

The sun had gone down by the time we reached this location. So torches were needed to undertake the hunt. Accurate coordinates led to a quick find. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks The_Tritonz for the cache.
Headed down south for a caching & camping weekend, including some events, solved puzzles and a cito.
Bushfires - such an awful tragedy to have to go through. Thankfully no loss of life with this one. Stay safe all.

Today we farewell our temporary home at Bunjil Lookout and set off for the events in Ballarat, stopping in for a cache or two before and afterwards.
We had a few extra minutes up our sleeve so stopped for that typical “just one more”. Bushfires can cause absolute tragedy. Members of my family lost their home not far from here (just up the road from Bunjil Lookout) in a bushfire about 10 or so years ago. I still remember the flames and desperately trying to help save it but the evaporative cooler vents had fed flames all through the roof. No one was injured in these fire fortunately and as a positive, building codes have now been updated as a result to help protect properties from this sort of ember attack.
It’s important to remember these events and the communities they affect as the impact of the bushfires and rebuilding lives on long after the news cycle stops reporting on it.
Thanks The_Tritonz for adding this cache to the worldwide collection for us all to find.

On my way to Ballarat for work and decided to collect a few smiley faces on the way through. Arrived at GZ in the pouring rain ( glad I have a spare set of clothes). It took me a while to figure out there was more than 1 latch to open this container... silly silly. Cache was in good condition and placed back ready for it's next finder .
Requiring a regular size container find for today, this one was my target. I remember the 2015 Bushfire day, what devastation. Thanks The Tritonz for helping us to remember what was a frightening day for this community.
We are out and about enjoying our new found freedom bouncing around the state doing a bit of cache maintenance.
Heading from Geelong to Ballarat we were picking up caches on the LHS and this was the next one on the list.
It was quite a pleasant area to be in today, it would have been a horrific area to be in 2015.
Fires are extremely devastating but at least with this one there were no lives lost. Looking around the area today mother nature has again taken control and we hope all the farmers were able to get through it to.
The GPSr needle led us directly to the cache hide where we had a nice easy cache find and we happily added our name to the log.
Thanks again The_Tritonz for the cache.

Cache back in place now roadside works has nearly been completed. Just be aware there is still b grade being stored near exit of the wayside stop, so drive carefully.
A nice quick find on my way home from Geelong. the Road Works might make this tricky over the next few months but it was easy enough today thanks for bringing me here
As we crawled through the roadworks approaching GZ from the south we thought this might be a write off due to the barriers, but fortunately there was still access. Parked nearby and walked down to see the container sitting out in the open on top of the stump. Tucked it back in out of site and hopefully it will stay there for the next visitor. TFTC
I remember the day so well - very scary stuff! Nature is amazing - bounces back so quickly - must say it's a shame more respect isn't given by humans - so sad to see this area as a rubbish dumping ground. I do thank you for placing a cache here and for the figures and facts.
I see that the wayside stop also doubles as a rubbish dump. Disgraceful.
The cache was quickly found and autographed.

Found after a bit of a bush bash and when we came out we smelt of curry!!!!! so that's what we are having for dinner tonight.
This is my second attempt at locating this elusive cache. The bush bashing put me off last time but with having nannynomad along it was easier to locate.

Thank you for bringing me here and the history lesson. This is another found but not logged cache. Easy find. TFTC The_Tritonz.
This is quite the busy little spot. Been waiting for it to be free of other cars and today it was! Yay! So glad another cache has been put back here it has definitely come a long way since the fire has gone through here. TFTC
An all too familiar and regular occurrence in our landscape most summers. I guess those black logs testify to the ferocity of the flames.
Nice solid cache in great condition.
Thanks tritonz.

A timely reminder of what bush fires can do especially after our strange summer. There was certainly a lot of re vegetation here. It looked quite green with just a few black logs.

Revisited this one today as we missed it a few weeks ago when a car was parked right at GZ.
The area certainly has regrown since the fires.
Thanks The_Tritonz for another cache and one day closer to ending this streaks madness.

I remember these fires all too well and they keep devastating communities today. Still a chilling reminder of what was with the charred remains of trees left behind..... hopefully forever gone tftc
Loving these containers. They are almost a puzzle in themselves. Topped up the trades as none were there and I hate it when you've got kids with you and there is nothing for them to trade. Especially in the bigger caches
Family NewYears Road Trip #3
Out and about, getting the kids out of the house for a bit. SueHut demanded to replenish the trades in this cache. I was disappointed by the dumped litter

We remember that fire and its random path only too well. Such a violent side of nature! Now we are hoping that the current season is going to be gentler on our area, though Victoria has already had to count some losses, too.
Our last find for the day, though it should have been the first. When we came here earlier in the day, there was a carload of munching muggles having a break, so we decided to come back in the evening. Day light was fading, but there is a geotrail. Lol, that trail goes in circles, but we ended up finding the hide and also finding the much shorter way out of here. Woohoo, it has been a bit of a Tritonz day, which is an awesome guarantee for quality hides. Thank you, guys!
Our assessment of humanity: The dirtiest, most rubbish-producing and dumping species of all. The piles of discarded refuse in this rest area put our species to shame!

It’s hard to believe this area was ravaged by bushfires barely five years ago. The location I found the cache in had several magnificent trees which were killed during the fires. This only happens when it’s an extremely hot fire. It did produce a good place to hide a cache and lots of strong regrowth which made access a bit more difficult than unburnt bush in this area. The cache was in excellent condition.
Heading home after the youngest team members activities we realised we didn't grab a smile for today as we ate trying to fill our calendar, so with a slight detour we headed to our closest unfound cache, we remember this fire as we watched it intently after leaving our place we were preparing my parents to leave as the fire came closer to them in Durham Lead, but thankfully didn't quiet reach them, it was a scary day, TFTC the memories and the fun
Our country has a fantastic ability to rebuild itself, no matter what disaster has occurred. People, maybe not so much, but Australians are fighters and we do try to rebuild our lives, the same way our land rebuilds itself. At GZ the remains of the fire still stands to remind us of the past. Day 1 of our epic trek to the St Arnaud Mega via Geelong. As you do.
The constant was my travel companion for the entire trip, - Anymules. but we were joined by almost local cacher Bushfire for a lot of the escapades
But today it was a the case of making our way towards out first stop in Geelong caching along the way.[:o)] The fire was a while ago and the bush has recovered. Where's your machete when you need it. Fought our way through to GZ and made a quick find once there.
