Thank you so much for creating the virtual cache at the Springfield Donut. My wife and I are in town from Cleveland, Ohio for our vacation "Trip of a Lifetime" and of course we are going to be doing some geocaching while we're here. I had never heard about this so if it weren't for you we never would have seen this wonderful place.Mmmmmmm.... Donuts! We enjoyed Christchurch immensely for a few days and now we're in Greymouth. The scenery has been spectacular!Answers have been sent and much deserved favorite point added.TFTC!
I flew into Christchurch a couple of days ago for a 3-week bucket list road trip around South Island, and am heading to the West Coast today. How could I not stop here? Photo taken and questions answered ... now to keep moving! Thanks for placing a virtual here.

A nice little park and playthings for the kids. Our answers have been sent. Thank you for setting up this cache.
Out and around caching today. Interesting small park. Thanks for bringing us here
Our son's teacher in Kindy - 20 years ago- thought we shouldn't let him watch "The Simpsons".Despite apparent bad parenting he has become a happy successful adult.Pic below and answers sent
Visited with MummyPenny on our way out of town. It's a pity the donut shop has closed. Answers sent. Thanks gracie7 + Mum.
GeoHubby (Slotheryn) and I are celebrating our wedding anniversary, and what better way to spend time together than go Geocaching. Springfield was our target today as there is a nice wee Letterbox cache for the Take a Stamp Thursday challenge, which I hope to sign at the Mega in Dunedin. We grabbed as many other caches as we could in the area, this being one.A quick stop for some photos. Thanks for the virtual. Answers sent to CO.
Today marks 6 years married to ThatDarnBear, and two of the older GeoKids volunteered to take UnicornLex on a Sister's Outing. So naturally, what do we do? We make a beeline out the door for an afternoon of Mad Caching !!Happy anniversary ThatDarnBear TFTC
#3887 Today is day 11 of my geocaching vacation in New Zealand. I'm doing some last-minute geocaching before leaving Christchurch and finding more geocaches along the way to Hokitika.Found the huge donut!gracie7 + Mum, thank you for the cache!-crystaloops from Taipei, Taiwan on October 11, 2024 @ 13:37:15[GC88Z9M] "Can't Talk, Eating" Virtual Reward 2.0 was a D1.5/T1.5 Virtual Virtual Cache at the time of finding.
Having a drive up to Arthur's Pass for a weekend of walking in the snow however it is raining... Ahh well, but stopped here to see this virtual and got the answers.. cheers for the placement
Down in Christchurch for a ladies weekend with my daughter. We are big fans of The Simpsons so obviously had to do a tiki tour out to Springfield to see the doughnut. As a bonus there was also a cat here very friendly and identical to the one we had left in Auckland. Answers sent, thanks for the cache!
One of my all time favourite TV shows, and today I find myself in NZ's very own Springfield, loved the doughnut monument very appropriate. Answers sent, great place for a virtual on this drizzly wet afternoon, TFTC
Hopefully our team name can be read on the boys hands! Thanks for extra fun at the donut
Looks delicious! Manage to snap this photo just before a group of kids ran to the donut for photos. I left them to it and didn't pose for a photo myself but it is a very pretty and yummy looking donut! Hopefully it will stay here for a long time. Thanks for the virtual!!
After completing the local Ad Lab this morning I picked up a couple of other nearby caches before we headed off in the direction of Arthurs Pass and Greymouth. Sent the answers to this one to the C.O. This spot seems quite popular for photographs, and especially busy right now because its Easter! #7142. TFTC.
Our tour guide pointed this out, but we stopped too far away (toilets) for the details (boooo). Nonetheless, cool virtual cache.
A wee virtual as we stravaig about the town with our coffee this morning. I was using the phone as both gps and camera, so hopefully you can read MisterAnthonys tshirt! TFTC
Just getting around to logging the caches I found while visiting New Zealand from the U.S. with LaFavorite Cacher. We had a great time traveling around the country seeing the sights and picking up some caches along the way.Thank you for being a part of our adventures!Note: LaFavorite Cacher has sent in the answers for any earthcaches or virtuals required for both of us.
GeoJayne and I had a great time in the Fox Glacier area. We are visiting from Atlanta in the U.S. We loved seeing the glacier, glow worms last night, and a delicious meal. What a grand combination! We got up early today to see the sun rise over Lake Matheson and then made our way to Springfield via Arthur's Pass. It was a long day, but a lot of fun.We lucked into some great weather today. There were clouds at the peaks of the mountains, no wind to speak of and a temperature of 10 degrees C (perfect temp for hiking AND driving!).GeoJayne decided she had had enough before this cache (she completed it in the morning), but here I am still going strong at the end of a long day. This spot was so much fun that I planned an event for the next day right here. Thank you for the smiley and the fun!
Easy to find info and interesting story of why the Do nut is here TFTC and greetings from the UK
As youngest team member of team GO_Jack, I want to do some virtuals during my six-month trip to New Zealand and Japan. On the way from Christchurch to Arthur's Pass I pass Springfield and this very special virtual. Of course I'll stop here for a moment. A very nice break from the ride. A favorite of our team!Greetings from The Netherlands.#3.591 - gracie7 + Mum TFTC!

On tour together with geheimsam. We were happy to stop here for a little snack. Thanks for showing and TFTC!
Springfield is well known, town of the Simpsons. We were very careful to take a bit of the big Donut, but there must be someone earlier, a big bit was missing. Thanks for showing!

I found a total of 40 caches and in the evening I arrived in Christchurch, from where I am leaving tomorrow for the North Island. Thanks to everyone for the caches and greetings from the Czech Republic.
Had a great day out, and found a few caches, including this one. Met a guy who was just telling his companion about why the donut was here, so we learned something today. Great fun- thanks
On the road from Castle rocks to Christchurch, Naomi pointed out the donut (or doughnut, to us Brits), on the way back, we realised it was the subject of a virtual. Photo taken and answers sent to the co.TFTCTim and Viv - ddm

I very much love getting to visit the South Island. Until recently it wasn't something I got to do very often, but in the last year I've managed a series of mini-trips for geocaching, and here we are at the start of 2024 with another one. Just like my first SI trip in 2023, I've come to Christchurch to target a few specific caches to help with my Jasmer Grid, and qualification for a few challenges I'm currently working on.This is Day 2, and it's raining. Not major deluge-type stuff, but just a bit heavier than a fine drizzle. The kind of rain that gets into everything and can generally make for a miserable time caching even if you have wet weather gear. So I had a cruisy morning catching up with yesterday's logging before deciding that I really had to get out if I wanted to get any caches today. So I set forth, via a Couplands Bakery because, well this is the South Island right?Having failed to find GCE92 yesterday, I had decided to target the only other July 2001 cache available to me, so headed over to Glentui Bush to make the find. With the rain still falling, I figured I'd still be able to take the scenic route back to Chch whilst stopping to find a few park 'n' grabs, and so I pulled over for this one. I hadn't intended to end up quite so far to the West today, but the combination of this Virtual and the nearby AdLab was a magnet. The rain was now light enough that I was able to get the answers I needed (answers already sent to the CO) without drama. A fun and quirky way to get your town noticed Thanks for setting this one up.
Visited it on our stay in Springfield.TFTCHilgenerSchatzsucher(Foto will follow, when we are back in Germany)
After spending a rather sleepless windy and rainy night at Klondike Corner we ummed and arred about what to do today. We decided we would carry on with plan A for the day and find a few caches as we made our way to Christchurch. We couldn't go past here and not stop for the photo opportunity. The last time we were here the donut was looking really old and cruddy, no such problem today as it looked good enough to eat all shiny and fresh. The photo was taken and the answers to the questions were sent to the cache owner. Thanks for giving us a reason to stop here again and thank you for the smiley
Santagrandpa did not read the description as closely as we needed to. He is not standing near the half covered up donut. The photo was taken quickly when our tour guide stopped for us. Wish we could have seen the full sculpture. TFTC
Together with Travelser I'm going Down Under. We are driving around with a motorhome. After 7 weeks driving around through Australia we arrived the 2th November in New Zealand. For ten days we will cross the Northern Island and than for 2 weeks the Southern Island.During our trip we of course search for several caches. Most of them brought us to very nice spots, like this one.All the CO's, and in this case gracie7 + Mum, thanks for bringing us here and give our trip a special accent.
After traveling around Australia with Oopie for 7 weeks, we have now been traveling with the camper in New Zealand for 4 weeks. Along the way we will of course also visit various types of caches in beautiful places, including this one.Because we answered the questions together, Oopie will send the answers with your permission. Thanks CO for creating and laying this cache.
Photo that I forgot to attach to my log and adding it to my log didn't work when I tried the editing option.
I remember the earlier version. If I recall correctly, this one is more colourful. I must admit that I've never watched a programme of the Simpsons.
This weekend I decided to attend a caravan rally in Springfield.I had to wait for some muggles to finish their photo shoot.Cheers for the cache, gracie7 + Mum.
This is our last day caching and we decided to come out here to find some puzzle caches in the area. I didnt see this doughnut the last time I was here. I do like it.This year I have had two trips to Nelson with three geocaching friends from Wellington. As I arrive ahead of time and they fly in it my job to get them coffee and a variety of doughnuts from Copelands. I have sent my answers to the CO.Day 6 of The North Islanders in Canterbury tour with Liss Crew. We are targeting specific caches -oldies, and puzzles. Of course, there will be days of laughter.During our time here, all found caches were signed as NZL, regardless of whether either of us has found it previously, or with individual names for Challenge Caches according to whomever was claiming the find.Kia ora rawa atu for the cache gracie7 + Mum.
I'm from Paihia/Whangarei and I'm down in the South Island for 6 days with NZ_B on a geocaching trip. Logs mostly signed as NZL.I had a few goals for the trip and I was very pleased to achieve them all *50 or 60 puzzles for my diamond badge on project gc*40 caches to get to my 6000th find*19 South Island minutes to complete a challenge*but mostly a clean out of my ever growing solved puzzle list with 157 found on this trip. Monday we collected the windmill geoart on our way to Oamaru. Tuesday the focus was solved A2O puzzles, the sunflowers and other solved puzzles. Wednesday we headed back to Christchurch collecting challenges and more solved puzzles. Thursday's focus was the Smile series around Lake Ellesmere. Friday was the old Port Hills cache and puzzles in the Christchurch area. Today was our last day. Again a puzzle focus around the outer Christchurch area. I didn't know Springfield was so far out from Central Christchurch. I had quite a few solved puzzles out this way and of course the AdLab and a virtual. My kids have always enjoyed the Simpsons so I had to show them a photo of me in Springfield at Homer's donut. Thanks for your virtual at this spot I'd never have known about without geocaching
I stopped to do the ad lab here before and it wasnt until I was looking for the bonus on my gps I realised that there was a virtual here as well so came back after finding the bonus. My TB's Bam Bam and Signal were happy to pose for a photo in the donut. Thanks gracie7 + Mum#14828
What a repulsive object! I can remember when the American doughnuts first started being made here - the ones with sugar and cinnamon are nice, but nothing compares with a proper doughnut with jam and whipped cream. Interesting knowing the back story, thank you.
#331 Been looking to get this one for a while, a quick stop to stretch the legs and back on the drive. TFTC
Plan A had us staying in Springfield to break our journey on the way to Tekapo and include Arthurs Pass. Then this would have been logged 9 days earlier. We ended up going south via Kaikoura and returning via Arthurs pass today. This was the first cache we stopped for after leaving Christchurch as we tried to break the journey with regular short stops.Logging with permission. Thanks.
Much to 1MinnieMoo's annoyance, I picked up the name of this town - and I was very pleased to see this town embrace it's famous name.We took the photos needed - and 1MinnieMoo has sent our answers. A fantastic place for a virtual. TFTV gracie7 + Mum
24/9/2023 Find #6600Day 16 of the Fangsoki/1MinnieMoo New Zealand South Island adventure. Today we resumed our itinerary by heading from Christchurch back to the west coast, to Hokitika. As we headed along, I checked the map, as we initially didnt have this route planned to do. Fangsoki pulled up as he saw the Springfield donut tyre and wanted me to take a photo, being a big fan of The Simpsons. Of course I was groaning about that (NOT a Simpsons fan!) when I looked over and saw a giant donut on the other side of the road. And a check of the map showed that there was indeed a cache (or two) in this location. Over we headed to grab photos and get the required information. Thanks for the virtual gracie7 + Mum. Im sure it was a definite highlight for Homer, erm I mean Fangsoki today, especially as he could rub it in a little more to me.
Last cache as we headed ‘home’, good place for a virtual, especially for me a Simpsons fan. Answers sent.
Off to the South Island for the first time in a while, off to visit our youngest daughter and her partner at their digs near Cass out on the West Coast Road. A bluebird day, superb views on the flight over and a nice visit to the rapidly changing city for the first time in maybe 4 years.
A couple of Ad Labs and 3 virtual caches and all was good.

The main reason for being in Springfield today is to collect this cache for the icon challenge.
We were in Springfield today geocaching with Beeba and this is one we had on our list in particular as we need it for this month's challenge. We have put up a photo out log and the others answered the questions.
We especially liked the name of one of the peaks in the Torlesse Range and we spent the rest of the day trying to identify which mountain was which taking photos from all angles.
Thanks for this virtual. I think it deserves a favourite point.

Have driven past this structure many times over the years, and had even stopped here on a couple of occasions prior to this Virtual cache being published. I recall finding a traditional cache here just after I started caching back in 2013 as well.
Thanks for the reason to stop here for a closer look.
Thanks for the reason to stop here for a closer look.
It was a splendid day to head to Castle Hill; fresh snow but clear enough that the mountains were all visible in their splendour. We stopped for this virtual, collected a few other caches and then had lunch nearby before heading up for further caching fun.
Now off to check out the monorail, popsicle stick skyscraper, 50 ft magnifying glass, and the escalator to nowhere!
On a winter Roadie around the South Island, picking up the occasional cache along the way.

Our last find for the day on our way back through Arthur’s Pass today. Answers sent to CO. While Mrs nzk was collecting the needed info, a young tourist from the Netherlands asked her to photograph him sitting in the donut. She happily obliged. Thanks for this fun virtual gracie7 + Mum. Photo attached.
In Springfield as a quick side trip from Oxford to pick up a few cache. Helped a asian girl trying to get into the centre of the donut. Tftvc
This will be the second time caching in Springfield I think last time I was here the donut was a Tyre? But now it looks like a brand spaking new on made of concrete as some larakins set fire to the last one !!! Thank you for placing your virtual cache here when you had so many options ! Stopped at the Taste of Kiwi for breakfast after leaving Christchurch this morning.
No Kiwis for me but really good waffles

We adopted Springfield as a base to find stragglers from previous trips and new placements in the area. We're familiar with the doughnut caches of the past and delighted to add the latest re-incarnation. Answers have been sent to the CO. Thank you gracie7 + Mum
We have been staying at Springfield for a couple of days so naturally this cache was targeted.
We had no problems finding the answers to the questions which have been sent to the COs.
Thank you gracie7 + Mum.

Stopped here yesterday arvo for obligatory photos of the donut and realised later that I’d missed both the virtual and AL caches. Made a point of stopping today on the way back from an overnighter in Arthur’s Pass. Such an amazing drive in a part of the country I’ve never been before. Originally from Auckland, but living in Melbourne for 29 years now!
Thanks for the cache!

We had spotted a few other North Islanders make a personal 24hr find record so we took note of the general caches found and made a plan to try our luck, our previous best was 172, our aim was "more than Yeti", check out GC6PRMW once we have logged them all to see how we did...
Our 4th for the 24hr attempt, a few pics taken, hoping they will be light enough for 12.15am!
Great virtual, always loved the donut, we have a place near our area we like to call Springfield due to the big chimney, that looks just like Homer's work.
There is a new Geocache there that was the first on our trip just the other day! (GCA4JH0)

A day out finding gracie7 + Mum caches! At this one I suddenly realised I didnt really have anything to show I was a cacher til zi remembered thatvI had a cache of TikvaNZ's in my car. It fell from its perch in the wind. I wasn't really a great fan of The Simpsons but I like the nod to the series with the donut here. Thanks for the virtual!

While doing the lab cache saw this Virtual, so why not do this as well - great wee town that you normally just pass through, good to stop & just enjoy - TFTC
Great to explore these small towns I would be disappointed if there wasn't a donut here I guess Homer along with Bart would be as well
Of course, there would have to be a donut here! It's a shame that some have to pick off sprinkles. I saw the donut caravan across the road, but like a lot of places, it seemed to be closed. It's not something that I would eat anyway, so there is no loss for me. Thanks for setting up this virtual Gracie7 + mum
Exploring a bit of Springfield finding a cache or two along the way. I've sent in my answers, assume they are ok. TFTC
After an overnight tramp to Benmore Hut, I stopped to find a few caches on my way home. This was the first one I stopped for. A very cool spot for a virtual cache.
