Thanxs a lot to wayn0 for this Cache and hello from Weissenburg, Bavaria, Germany.
Day 7 of my fortnight+ road trip up to Brisbane eand back to Blue Mountains. A leisurely drive up. Avoiding GC power trails. Randomly driving to various spots that take my fancy. This was one of my shortlisted geocaches to visit. Thanks a few fellow geocachers who suggested this one. After watching sunrise at the most easternmost point of the mainland (lighthouse crowded out by muggles). Beach swim and thence a virtual find here. Thanks wayn0
#7778On a trip north with harveyt2079, staying in Byron for a few nights. After visiting the lighthouse and walking down to the most easterly point, took a short drive around to Tallow Beach to perform some monkey business. Would have been awesome to find the original container here!TFTC wayn0
We stayed in Ballina over night. In the morning we headed north towards the Gold Coast. On our way along the beach we passed by this interesting virtual cache at the Spot where an Ape cache has been. It's a shame that most of the Ape caches we're lost and archived. Luckily we had the chance to visit the 'Tunnel Of Light' in the US.Thanks a lot for showing us this 'geocaching historic place' and for the virtual cache,Murkel, on tour with Muckel122. September 2024, 12:30
Parking was a nightmare, so many cars and no spots and people stopping and offloading, it was mayhem and the beach really is nothing special. Anyway I let my daughter drive off and come back while I got my pics and got back on her return in one piece.TFTCVIronbark
With Davinells guiding us and Peppa providing comments from the back seat, we've broken through the border for a day of caching and some events.Great spot and great history. Unfortunately we couldn't stay long due to the lack of parking options. Thanks for the cache wayn0
Peppa, Beardman75 and I have ventured into Northern NSW for a day of caching and events from the hinterland to the beach and everything in between. Ive been keen to come to this spot for a while, its nice to visit a beautiful location with a bit of geocaching history. Will have to get to USA or Brazil and find a physical APE cache, but until then this virtual is a good substitute. Thanks wayn0Find #6358
We stopped by down here after visiting the cape to spot whales. We meandered through the beautiful bushland, spotting two beautiful swamp wallabies. We spend some time on the Tallow's Sand being circled by a beautiful Brahminy kite also. TFTC. Such a beautiful place in the world.
We came down to the area from north Brisbane to see some friends. Afternoon spent at the beach meant I could grab this virtual! Also Chris Hemsworth walked past us!!!!!! TFTC!
Found on a work trip on the way to Byron from Ballina Airport. What a incredible spot. The beach was near empty when I arrived. The sound of the waves were so relaxing. Thanks for the virtual
Visited and submitted with tassie expat while exploring this really nice place. Thanks for placing this VC.
frmen1 and I are looking around the area. The sea spray made the headland look even more Hollywood lolI do like sci-fi but my favourite gorilla can be found athttps://youtu.be/wHjieD6CTYs?si=fYixcQYpkjIc-HxBThanks for taking us to such a beautiful spot. TFTV
Found after a short early morning sojourn around Byron. Last here in the late 70's. Had a blast.
I got here on the 12th. No photo with me in it, but photos, nonetheless.TFT Virtual!! Wish the original A.P.E. cache was still here.
Sadly a very rainy day, rain and fog created a bit of a spooky atmosphere, we nevertheless really enjoyed walking the beach and exploring the rocks.Thank you for taking us to this beautiful spot and greeetings from Germany!
On our way up to South East Queensland for a week long trip, grabbing geocaches along the way of course, as well as adventure labbing wherever possible. Today we drove from Port Macquarie to the Gold Coast with near perfect driving weather, only a couple drops of rain here and there.Always nice to grab a virtual, especially when the requirement is just a photo. Very nice beach, and quite busy too this afternoon. Thanks for the cache
Found - Mrs McMike2012 & I are visiting from NZ we are currently doing a road-trip from Sydney to the Gold Coast we were travelling through the area from Coffs Harbour to Ballina doing Ad Labs & a few caches here and there up to Byron Bay for a visit photo taken & messaged to Cache Owner for verification pleased to add a 'smiley face' to the tally TFTC ... TN except for photos:LN except for footprints in the sand, but they wont last long:no L to S #5,351 for Us!
We missed this on our first visit so returned today to claim the virtual. Beautiful beaches here and terrible roads. Tftc
By motorhome to Byron Bay.We visit many beautiful locations around Byron Bay. We look for some caches and walk along the beach to visit unique geological locations. Thanks to all owners for showing us the interesting locationssayTeam sissifalke
Find No: 9538. Visiting from Newcastle NSW, photo attached, thanks for the cache !!
Caching from Canberra to Townsville. TFTC. TFBMH. Not the best day for it tho but great story.
Amazing that there was an APE cache here! Almost as awesome as Tallows Beach itself! FP from me! TFTVC wayn0
(Day 27 of our roadtrip in Australia. Driving today further up the coast from Coffs Harbour to Byron Bay, where we will reach our most easterly point. Planning some stops on the way for Earthcaches and other interesting places. Our second ape location, unfortunately this time without any ape cache. Still a great location and nice idea for the virtual! Thanks and kind regards from Switzerland, Hinni&Simo
When I arrived at this beach, I knew this would be my final cache. Daylight was coming to an end and all the surfers were returning to their cars. The beach was beautiful and basically deserted so it made it easy to get the photo I needed. Thank you for the smiley and the fun!The day:I was visiting from the U.S. and had a goal of driving all the way up to Port Douglas over the next couple of weeks. My day started in Port Macquarie and ended in Byron Bay. It wasn't as long a day as the previous one but that was okay because I needed a break. And it ended up raining, so that was its own good reason to arrive in the early afternoon. In the end, Byron Bay ended up being my favorite city of the entire road trip. Who doesn't love the beach? Many thanks to all the geocachers who placed and continue to maintain their geocaches for folks like me to find. I know it's not always easy, but I do appreciate you.
That beach was the highlight of the day. The main beaches in Byron Bay are so crowded at this easter sunday anf just a few minutes away is this awesome beach with just a few people around. We probably would never have visited this beach without this virtual cache.TFTC geovi
Wow, this beach blew us away. Busy Byron beaches with no parking on the one side of the cape and this beautiful beach on the other side. This one wins.We wouldn't have stopped here, if it wasn't for this virtual. I knew there was an APE in northern NSW, but I didn't quite place it in Byron. Not the best of locations for an enduring cache - so much we know now - but at least its quite accessible and pleasant for the eye. We loved the place and gladly take the virtual instead. Thank you for commemorating. All APE locations should have a virtual cache attached to them.TFTC!PS: We tried to find the GCA cache but could locate it and there area looked sort of fenced off.
On holiday in Australia, caching when we can between attractions. Having a wonderful time!We have logged two APE caches, and this is the second APE memorial cache we have logged. Thanks for adding this virtual to remembervthe APE!
Today we walked the trail to Cape Byron and the Lighthouse and picked up some caches on the way. It was cloudy and very windy. TftCs! Frtau

Logged this cache on a trip to Australia and Bali. Always nice with a virtual cache! With one week in Byron Bay we had a list of geocaches we would like to visit. This was one of the geocaches on the list. Thanks for the quick log. Tftc!

Today I moved from Byron Bay to the south, first along the coast and then further along the highway. Along the way, I found some caches, including one oldies from 2002 near a nice beach. It was beautiful until 2 PM, then storms with rain came again, in which I don't like to drive here. I ended up in Wauchope for the night and tomorow I plan to take a detour inland. Thanks for the cache and greetings from Czech republic. Nice small beach.
We were also at Tallows Sand today. The wind was blowing quite nicely. TFTC
What a great idea for a Virtual. Having visited one of the two last remaining APE caches in the world I reckon this is a fav point cache just because we had to monkey around to claim the find
Muggle65 and l drove down to Byron this afternoon to grab a couple of caches. We decided to do this one as l felt fairly qualified to make like an ape. Thank you for the fun
Do t come across too many virtual caches these days! TFTC and storey about APE

Hi I visited this Virtual cache as I headed home to Adelaide after the QOGM events around Longreach. The plan was to be away for about a month. I travelled up to Longreach via Broken Hill, Cunnamulla, Charleville and Barcaldine, camping and finding caches of interest along the way. I am heading back home via Brisbane and the NSW coast to Sydney, then across to Adelaide. However my plans are pretty loose and subject to change, often on a whim! The weather so far has been good, albeit a little warm at times. I am hoping it stays good for the rest of the trip.I have had to be quite selective with the caches I have found as there are so many that I am passing. As a result I have mostly targeted non-traditional cache types, although I have also grabbed a few Trads opportunistically here and there.A favourite point here for a Virtual cache with simple and straightforward logging requirement. Thanks wayn0 for the Virtual cache, which has contributed to an interesting and enjoyable trip.
Together with Travelser I'm going Down Under. We are driving around with a motorhome. Started on the 17th September in Cairns. Our plan is driving.along the eastcoast down. Then in the south on to Adelaide and from there ending the 31th October in Alice Springs.During our trip we of course search for several caches. Most of them brought us to very nice spots, like this one.All the CO's, and in this case wayn0, thanks for bringing us here and give our trip a special accent.
On my roundtrip along Australia with Oopie we are douing always some caches. All COs thanks for bringing us on this nice places and making this caches.
After walking around the lighthouse we stopped here for a walk on this beautiful sand and to watch the surfers. No Apes spotted today but instead we saw plenty of whales TFTC
Thanks for bringing me here as quite a unique beach and as I walked up the path I noticed how good would the sand be for Sandcastles because it was very fine TFTCis fairly cool early morning
On our way slowly back home to Mildura after spending a week in the Gold Coast. We have decided to head south before west. The road to the carpark was such beautiful scenery. We all piled out out of the car and headed for the beach. Such a beautiful spot! Our photo attached. We were lucky enough to see some whales jumping from the water and another big fish too! Thanks for highlighting this spot, magical location!
Oh, bother and consternation! I was fussing with the phone in the bright sunshine trying to figure out the ape business and messed up on the background . This makes me a bit of a monkey then, doesn't it?
In my defense, while I was working on it, a group of people arrived and a hang glider almost landed on me. It was quite the distraction. I'll post what I've got, and if it doesn't pass muster , blow it away.

Well my trip up to QOGM has officially started and I’m taking the very indirect route up to outback QLD to get there.
It has been a while since I have driven up the Hume to Sydney and some people say that it is a very boring drive but I enjoy it.
So after spending a couple of nights in Lane Cove it was time to hit the M1 and A1 and head north to the last of my target caches The Frying Pan.
After finding the Pan and a little celebration I was then in googles hands to get me to up to my next destination.
Spent the night in Taree so now back on the M1 and A1 to head to Byron Bay for the most Easterly cache and a few LGA’s along the way.
I made it to Byron and after visiting the Easterly tip and Lighthouse I had it to hear.
Ge they like charging for parking.
Made my way to the beautiful beach that you can see from the lighthouse.
Thanks wayn0 TFTC.

Greetings from Ireland! I am on a road trip from Sydney to Brisbane and picking off caches as I go.
This cache:
I parked up at the car park and made my way to the beach. Took a quick snap with my personalised wooden coin (that has my name on it) and then headed on my way. Great spot for a virtual so FP! Tftc!

Out for the day with Peppa and this time I had a plan. With this current Wheel of Challenges still in progress, I thought it would be great to grab most of the caches needed for this challenge as well as another LGA ticked off.
After an early start, we played I-Spy down the motorway and stopped to grab a few caches in Byron before heading to this cache. Was interested in the back story for this cache and sad that the original APE cache didn't survive but anyway happy to visit the beach.
Making our way out to GZ we started posing for the required photo while each other snapped away. What a fun Virtual.
Thanks for bringing us here wayn0

A play day with Patrol14 and she suggested Byron Bay to help with the current GC Wheel of Challenges Icon Hunt… suits me, a little further south and I venture into fresh LGAs… and these days it’s all about the LGAs…
Having left Brisbane well before a decent hour we played I-Spy down the M1 while discussing a plethora of current issues…
We then cached from Brunswick Heads south to Evans Head enjoying a great day out…
What an unique take on a virtual… a bit of caching history…
Thanks wayn0

After the weekend in mbah doing the NRRT series and having a good time on our bikes Mystery Sleuth and I braved the horses at Byron to get this cache and our 2nd wheel of challenges souvenir for this month.
We had originally thought we would go for an earth cache here too but went up to the natural arch instead.
Thank you for placing this virtual here , it's a nice place to visit and probably the only place in Byron that had a lot of parking space. Tftv

Today we went on a beach walk down Tallow Beach to Cape Byron Lighthouse and to the most easterly point of the Australian Mainland and did some geocaching on the way . This virtual cache was the first one. Too bad the old Project A.P.E. Cache GC1412 Mission 11: Tallow's Sand does not exist anymore ... but this virtual cache reminding of it is nice as well.
Thanks for the cache!

Apologies for the late log here (13.01.24) but I've had a busy time since getting back to the UK.I ran onto the beach, took my photos, looked around, said, "this is very pretty" and then ran back to my car as I'd not paid for parking. A true flying visit but that's not a reflection on the cache, which is in a stunning location. Thanks for placing this for my enjoyment TNLN-Virtual. TFTVC!SP (UK) on an epic trek right around the world.
We are road tripping back home to SW Sydney NSW after visiting family on the Sunshine Coast and could not resist the lure of this cache. It's been on my radar for awhile - just love the nostalgia and mystery of the project ape caches. To have been a fly in the incredible white sand here and know where the original cache went...! And how amazing would it have been to have been part of the group who managed to find the long lost tunnel of light ape cache!
So of course, we (I) decided to detour to Byron Bay today to make the pilgrimage to Tallow's Sand. Never been to the town before and to be honest didn't find it particularly special but after paying our $2 parking fee and setting off down the beach path to GZ.... Wow!!!!! What a beautiful outlook! Can definitely see why it was chosen as one of the 14 locations and why muggles flock here every year.
Thanks for setting up this virtual and paying homage to the project ape cache and for bringing us here today! Would most likely never have come here otherwise and would have missed discovering such a beautiful vista. FP awarded!

In Byron Bay and I wanted to grab this virtual while we were here as I had plans to visit the ape cache in America but they got cancelled . At GZ I decided ape’s like to hang around in trees , so that’s what I did . Thanks for the cache

We are on our long-awaited journey around the world in 99 days. Second try after canceling in 2020.
Our fourth stop after Los Angeles, Hawaii and New Zealand is Australia.
This time was of course used to find some geocaches here.
Today we were searching for the Virtual **Tallow's Sand**
At the given coordinates the needed picture was taken quickly and after sending them, ther is a new smile on our geocaching map!

We are lucky enough to have found the tunnel project Ape cache in the US. Apart from having a very cool found type, it was also a very cool cache to do, walking about 3 or so km through the tunnel to reach the cache

What a lovely day and a beautiful place! Thanks for the virtual and greetings from Finland
Without the geocache we would missed that we visited a place of an APE-Cache.
Together with my favorite geocacher Milonguera we traveled to Australia We went to Melbourne via Singapore and from there we explored the south, the center and the east coast.
We walked around Melbourne and had a nice meet & greet event. Than we visited Philip Island with the pinguins and the Great Ocean Road. We fed and petted kangaroos visited the koalas and continued north via Coober Pedy to Alice Springs. We hiked around the impressive Uluru and through the beautiful Kata Tjuta and breathtaking Kings Canyon. The gorges of the Macdonell-Ranges are nice too. We traveled north and than east to Townsville and Magnetic Island. From Airlie Beach we rafted to the Whitsunday Islands for snorkeling and swimming at Whitehaven Beach and took a seaplane to the Great Barrier Reef.
On the way south we visited the capricorn coast, Great Keppel Island, 1770, Bundaberg, Rainbow Beach, Noosa, Tamborine National Parc, Goldcoast and the mainland's easternmost point Cape Byron.
**Thanks for the cache!
Thanks for showing the location and for hiding the cache. You should come to Berlin in Germany to find a lot of interesting geocaches, visit lost places in the surrounding Brandenburg and meet nice people at many events.
I wish you a lot of fun and great adventures while searching for the next geocache!**
Thanks for the cache!

Here I was happy to make a fool of myself. My arms and legs were almost the same length after the round. In my opinion it was much too hot again today!
Visiting from New Zealand for a family gathering in Byron Bay. Headed up to the Lighthouse to enjoy the views and some caching, and then visited this beautiful beach. It was a very quiet morning, only Mr Rubbishparty in the sea, with the lifeguard watching on. Thanks for the smiley
Hi Day One.
My son and I New Year trip turn into drive into NSW and beyond. Today was more about driving. I found 9 today with few DNF. Oh well they do happen.
The breakdown was a mystery, community event, traditional, multi and adventure lab.
Day Two.
We carry on heading south down Newell highway grabbing more caches. Stopping for old and some new virtual, plus more non traditional for a challenge. Unfortunately some of those prove hard to find.
I had lots of fun doing earthcache they brought us to some wonderful places.
I found 26 today the breakdown was 3 virtual, 3 earthcache, 5 traditional and 3 adventure labs with 15 waypoints.
Day 3
Heading towards Mt Buller
After early start we started grabbing caches along the Newell highway to get more LGA cover.
I found 28 today with a lot of driving. The breakdown is 6 traditional, 9 virtual, (most I found in a day) 2 mystery, earthcache plus 2 adventure lab with 10 waypoints.
Day 4
Back up the mountain to finish of what I started. I was 5 later yesterday to get the photos.
After that I grab more caches around the Mt Buller Village. Plus I found one old traditional, it is in the oldest 5.
With finds total was 12. The breakdown is 5 traditional, 5 virtual, multi and at not least a webcam.(finally).
After we finished on the mountain we started to head to Canberra.
My son and I had lots and fun today.
Day 5 Canberra
Early start today chasing caches for a challenge cache that I need for my next loop. Considering my first caching trip was fly in fly out. This time maybe little bit longer. Still not much longer need to be home in couple of day.
I found 25 today. The breakdown was 16 mystery, 6 virtual, earthcache, wherigo, traditional. Plus couple of DNF.
Leaving day for Canberra to Yass. I had a few kayaking ones on the list but not enough time for all. I DNF 2 but a CO gave permission to log it. I found the wire where the cache was. Then I headed to a event to meet up Canberra caching community. Two of them I knew from Brisbane who have move back here.
I did some caching around the park then headed to Yass to stay the night.
I found 20 today. The breakdown was 10 mystery, 6 traditional, 2 multi, letterbox and a event.
Day 6, Yass
Early start today I was chasing more challenge caches. Some of these were high. Glad I had my ladder. One was to high for it. Maybe next time. I sign 18 Challenge caches, some I qualify for other I don’t. Couple I need only few finds.
Total finds today was 21 the breakdown 11 mystery 7 traditional and 3 virtual. Plus 17 sign logs but don’t qualify for.
And lot of driving closer to home.
Day 7 Sydney and North we go.
I found 11 caches today, with some old ones as targets. Main thing today are caches for a challenges. Plus virtual.
The breakdown was 5 virtual, 3 mystery, earthcache, multi and traditional.
Lots of driving with couple of the caches, I wish Queensland had more virtual.
Thank you CO for your hides and the maintenance you do. For us to find
Sorry for the generic log.

Fun hearing about the APE history. Knew some about it since I live in Seattle and participated in one of the yearly going through the tunnel of light events around 10 years ago. Enjoyed this great adventure and I am posting my best APE imitation. My wife was wondering what I was doing!

This weekend, [@jesswrigley](http://coord.info/PRNW59T) and I travelled south to Byron Bay for a long weekend getaway.
On Saturday, we visited the Bangalow markets, Newrybar, and then walked at Killen Falls. It was then a drive along the coast via Lennox Head, Whites Beach and then checking in at Suffolk Park.
On Sunday, we started the day with a hike in Goonengerry National Park before having a late breakfast in Byron Bay. We perused the town's shops, enjoyed Suffolk Park's beach, and then returned back to Byron Bay for dinner.
Finally on Monday, we visited The Farm in Byron Bay, and then later saw the lighthouse at Cape Byron.
Today, it was an early morning start to drive to Goonengerry National Park and subsequently walk the Goonengerry waterfalls trail. An enjoyable start to the day and great to see the top of the falls along the ridge. We then drove back to Byron Bay for breakfast via Mullumbimby, and then walked around the shops of Byron Bay. We decided it was beach time, so after making a quick stop at Tallow Beach to have a moment's silence for the ex-Project A.P.E. geocache, we returned to Suffolk Park and had a play on a nearby beach. In the late afternoon, we checked out Bolli Point walking the boardwalks in that area, and then had dinner in Byron Bay where we had a play on the beachside reserve.
It was interesting to see that this virtual cache was more to do with the history than the location, although the beach itself was also quite scenic. It really is a shame that the two Project A.P.E. caches didn't last long in Australia, as they would have been significant draw cards for international visitors to Byron Bay (perhaps the locals would not have liked that, given Byron Bay's latest status as too trendy?). Both [@jesswrigley](http://coord.info/PRNW59T) and I have only returned from Seattle a few months ago where we did find one of the remaining two Project A.P.E. geocaches, and it was quite special to add that unique cache type to our statistics. We had planned in 2020 to visit Brazil in South America where we were going to also collect that Project A.P.E. cache too, and at the time, we didn't think there were too many Aussies to have both A.P.E. caches under their belt, but darn COVID-19 put an end to those plans. One day we will return that way. Returning back to reality, and counting this tribute A.P.E. cache as a 1/2 cache, I guess I have 1-1/2 now. Anyways, a couple of photos are attached from our visit. Thanks wayn0 for the virtual cache placement and ongoing maintenance.
Note that I'm happy to chuck in an extra $10 on top of Geostuff's $1000 reward for information that would lead to the successful return of [GC1412](https://coord.info/GC1412), so perhaps that may be the sweetener needed?

Got a surprise day off so decided to pop down here from the Gold Coast to make a few funds and have a counter meal.

The last thing I expected a few days ago was to be caching my way home from Queensland. Our kids were due to travel by plane to the Gold Coast for a conference for the course they are doing but Jetstar had other plans. They cancelled their flight then cancelled the replacement flight causing them to be flying a day later. Then at 11pm the notice the following days flight was also cancelled with no replacement available.
With no notice the only way for them to get there was to drive from Geelong. Leaving home a little after midnight we had 19 hours to drive the 18 hour journey. Not leaving a lot of time for fuel and toilet stops. I managed to get them there with 5 minutes to spare.
That was few days ago, I have now dropped them at the airport for them to fly home while I was left to cache my way home wit Mr Dromaniax who flew up just to cache his way home again with me.
After spending the night in Byron Bay our first stop for the day was here for a bit of monkeying around on the beach. What a shame the original is no more and even bigger shame so few of the original A.P.E cache exist world wide.
Thank you wayn0 for using your Virtual to bring attention to what was once a special cache

Mr Dromaniax flew to the Gold Coast to drive back to Victoria with Mr Sims_family. They decided that they would do some targeted caching on the way back. This would include some Adventure Labs, whatever Larges they could get their hands on, any high D/T caches that were on offer, and hopefully complete a D/T grid and loop as well as a Milestone cache.
We always try to visit Virtual Caches when we are nearby. This one was doubly attractive as it is at the only Australian A.P.E. Cache site. Oh, what a shame it no longer exists.
Thank you wayn0 for placing a Virtual Cache in such a significant and beautiful spot. A Favourite Point from us for bringing us to such a beautiful spot and highlighting such an important place in Australian Geocaching history

Rode into byron bay today to do a couple of caches in the area. Came down here as the adventure lab also had me coming here. A lovely beach with only a few people out today.
Thanks for preparing this cache

I visited GZ today. Only a few primates muggling about but the headland is still there so all is good!
Keep on caching..
Keep on caching..
Down around Byron for a drive and some unlogged caches. Wet morning which meant there was plenty of parking. Quick stroll to the co-ords and some happy snaps taken. Shame the original was not still here. TFTC wayn0.
