I had a need to come over to this corner of Melbourne today and, as it was a rather pleasant afternoon, I took some time out to find a few caches to help me qualify for the **WCW - Cache Local Mighty Challenge**. I parked nearby in Yantara Walk and wandered over to this cache... it took me a couple of guesses... and a little unnecessary climbing up... before I finally got my hands on this cache. Thanks **sbrundan** for putting out this cache for us to find.
If I didn't come with the height of geo hubby I would not have found it. Though warned, the contents of the box still gave me a small jump. Lol
Beautiful winter morning ... the sun is shining and there is no rain. Great day to get out for a little geocaching. Find #6 TFTC
#130 27/04/2024 @3:21pmA couple finds in a row has us on a role for our afternoon sessionTFTC
An all-day event (in comparison to the usual time duration of a geocaching event) drew me up to Whittlesea for a walk whilst caching. It was good to see a familiar face at the event and chat about things geocaching. After bidding the BBQ team farewell I drove over to my starting point for a loop around one small part of the urban area of this fairly large LGA. My logs will include this standard blurb and then a comment or two about each cache separated from this blurb by a dividing line. Thanks to the CO for putting these caches out in this area and thus creating a nice walking/bike loop. Whilst I found most of the caches I attempted there were a couple which I either missed or were not there. I'll be back for those at some point.----My last of the day and I debated whether to have a look for it given the tree climb attribute. I'm glad I took a gamble because although it wasn't in the obvious spot given the hint and attribute it was in the second place I looked.
When you are as short as me climb up might be a better option Heading back to home base in the NE and happen to be in the 'hood' visiting a friend who lives over the paddock within cooee. Amazing growth in the outer burbs of marvellous Melbs. TFTC and the FUN.
The weather was stunning today, warm and sunny and it was too nice to be stuck at work. Well with it being the perfect weather to get out and go caching, I decided to sneak out of work a bit early. So, since I had a bit more time on my hands than normal I decided to mix things up and make a trip up to the northern suburbs for an impromptu caching trip.So I was scouting around to see which caches I should target today and this one quickly caught my eye. I am always on the hunt for **"Tree Climbing caches"** as I am slowly working on trying to qualify for [The_Tritonz's](https://www.geocaching.com/p/?guid=f422aa64-9d77-4d30-bbca-5864235c03b7&wid=447009b8-3fcf-46f0-a3ac-a8b299570918&ds=2) [The Monkey Challenge (GC8A2X2)](https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC8A2X2) and with limited time left in my caching trip, I figured this nice and easy **"Tree Climbing cache"** would be a great one to end on. So I ended up parking the geomobile fairly close by and then it was only a short walk to GZ. I am not sure if it was due to the powerlines or what, but my phone did not want to cooperate with me on this one. It had be bouncing around between all of the possible beacons and so I had to check each and every one.I had to resort to the process of elimination on this one and ended up just systematically checking all the possible locations. Of course the cache was hidden in the last spot I would think to look, but finally found it in the end!I ended up picking up the [SpongeBob Kamp Koral Tag Mr Krab (TBA05Z0)](https://www.geocaching.com/track/details.aspx?tracker=TBA05Z0) trackable in a cache earlier today, however as I just found it today I will just dip it here and keep moving it on it's journey. A big thanks goes to [sbrundan](https://www.geocaching.com/p/?guid=f8b42aa5-6a60-4e8f-bd8d-d991fa54041d&wid=2984e0c1-c3b9-47ab-9222-43349d4ff366&ds=2) for the fun today. TFTC.**Cache Maintenance Status**The cache container was in great shape and the contents nice and dry. The logbook was clean and dry with plenty of room for future cache finders to sign.
I found this cache today on my Mega Geocaching Walk #6 - A 35,000 step walk from Hawkstowe Station throughout South Morang and finishing at Middle Gorge Station. My eighth and final time under the power lines near a house that appears to be holding out from the urban sprawl. Thanks from D B-A
Out and about with My good caching mate Omegaman1971, there are always plenty of laughs while we are turning caches into smiles.
This is one of the caches found today.
Thanks sbrundan for the cache.

Had a good look, including some climbing on slippery wet surfaces in failing light, but no luck: David
I am in need of some Whittlesea LGA caches for 2 challenges I signed last year, so while I was in the area, I thought I would try to find some caches. This was one of those caches.
I’ve been here before without success but after finding the cache today I don’t know why as I found it quick. Maybe in more experienced now Another great hide sbrundan
*Found on the 21 May 2023 @ 10:38 am.*

I am needing a few more cache finds in the Whittlesea LGA for a challenge just up the road, so I made a roundabout trip to a couple of events at Edwards Lake in Reservoir via this area to find a few caches to add to the total for this LGA.
**Thanks to sbrundan for placing this cache.**

Found with icw. I admit to following a faint geo-trail to where the goods were hidden. Tftc.
Initially, NT picked the wrong side of the farm, meaning I arrived 5 min before, yet stuffing around. Then NT arrived and cache located by in 30 sec. TFTC
An easy enough find on a good day. I hope that the road gets built sooner rather than later!
Targetted for it's treeclimb attribute, catnap777 and I were a little surprised by the scene before us at GZ. Well, I guess it is a tree, and we did climb it to its very top.
TFTC sbrundan, even though it was achieved a little more easily than expected.

A weekend away to Whittlesea, then onto Melbourne for two events on the Sunday was on the agenda.
We were looking forward to getting out and about as usual, and like always had quite an extensive list to keep us busy .
Onto Melbourne for our overnight stay. We got here early enough to target a couple of caches with particular attributes .
Thank you sbrundan for providing this trad .

Found by Mary and David at 11:00. Managed to keep our feet dry with some difficulty. Our thanks to sbrundan.
Yesterday, the CO described the approach to the cache as “ a little muddy”, after last nights rain you almost have to walk on water. This hide took me a while as I really couldn’t be sure which one was the host. Took a few laps, and I returned to the car with wet feet. Thanks for all these hides sbrundan.
Soooo hungry by this time, nearly 9km in to our walk for the morning and we still had to get to the MEGA after lunch. A quick find with Ms Manda doing the work and we were off. TFTC sbrundan
On a weekend trip with with a lovely bunch of women for the Whittlesea event. What would normally be a Kate and Kelly's Amazing Geocaching Adventure (KAKAGA) weekend was this year extended into a LAKAKAGA with the wonderful addition of Laura and Amanda and we had a great time walking and talking and collecting caches at our leisure.
Find number 16 on our 9km walk and we were ready for some decent lunch by this stage. Happy to make this find quickly with MandaMoo providing the climbing prowess and making it look like a fitness endeavor to any potential muggle onlookers. TFTC sbrundan

This weekend was mega weekend and we headed over with Freddo, team Waldron, e.gregory1 and Davidwazza as part of our team called: ‘Aussies on Tour’, the log books were either signed with the name, AOT or our individual caching names.
A great weekend away and a very well organised mega despite the horrible weather thrown at us we still managed to find quite a few caches
Thanks for the cache

Found while in the area to attend the Mega Event at Whittlesea.
Today I joined up with Team Waldron, Freddo, gridge98 and Davidwazza as we made our way to Whittlesea and targeted caches of interest. All caches were signed or stamped 'A.O.T'.

This weekend, it was a flight and trip down to Melbourne to attend The Whittlesea 2022 Mega Event. I arrived on Thursday evening and had accommodation in Mill Park, which was a good strategic location between Whittlesea and Melbourne. I joined a few South Aussie friends as part of the “Aussies on Tour” (AOT) team, which consisted of e.gregory1, Freddo, gridge98, and Team Waldron.
Several geocaching series were completed, which included the Commonwealth Star Series (CSS), Whittlesea Puzzles for Beginners, Whittlesea Event Gadget Trail (WEGT), Whittlesea Challenge Wander (WCW), and the Whittlesea Compass (TWC). In addition, we targeted uncommon cache types, rare/unique D-T combinations, older caches and those with high Favourite Points. It was great to have visited Victoria's two 2000 hidden geocaches too (Victoria's 1st (Melbourne's 1st) and Devil Bend).
We were treated with great weather for the first couple of days, but then it deteriorated from Saturday afternoon with rain storms and high winds overnight and on Sunday.
Someone had suggested grabbing a few last geocaches in South Morang, and hence it meant a walk was required along the trails along the powerlines' route. We thought we would just pop over the street and walk from nearby LENDING LIBRARY geocache to this location. It took a while to find this cache given the numerous logs and plenty of good hiding spots, and eventually I managed to find the cache. The cache container and logbook were in good shape, and the logbook was stamped with our "Aussies on Tour" stamp / noted as AOT to save logbook space. This cache is probably deserving of a slightly higher Terrain rating given where the geocache is hidden, and the overall location isn't exactly next to a road either, as it was a bit swampy to get to. Thanks sbrundan for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

November 2022. Time for the second Victorian Mega of the year. This time in Whittlesea. What is it with W's? Time for another epic road trip. Who will join our merry crew? We traveled from South Australia and camped in the pig pen. It rained. It blew. It was sunny. It was not sunny. All four seasons. Beautiful location and some awesome caches.
Warning, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to exercise, meeting new people and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Beware: you may have fun.

The GeoRanger saga continues. It’s back out again to the dealership today to return my loan car and then off to the hire company to pick up my replacement vehicle for a couple of weeks. Hopefully!
I swung past on my way to have a look at this one. It took me a few loops and what I thought was detailed searching until I finally found it well camouflaged and hidden away. Well placed!
Thanks sbrundan for adding this cache to the worldwide collection for us all to find.

This one had us a little STUMPED for a while, but with a bit of searching we found it!
A few huge kangaroos in this area, feel sorry for them as they're caught in suburbia. I think we approached from the wrong direction as all of a sudden were in someone's back yard. Pleased to find this, now.... where's my car...?
This one took us a while to find but eventually we made our find! I'm getting better at this climbing business!
That was definitely a challenge for us newbies! Thanks to CO for some help, very happy to find some critters
A pretty quick find while being watched by a mob of very confused kangaroos, TFTC
TFTC - slightly waterlogged though, unfortunately didn't have any tissues to clean it up
Accompanied with silence49. finding your cache sbrundan, thank you so much for placing it.
Still a few more logs to catch up with from a few weeks ago. Walked to most of these after parking as close as possible. Thanks for this good series sbrundan
Awesome hiding spot a few spots it could’ve been but found it eventually. Kangaroos watching on!
First find of the day with Doza 25. Swapped swags and left cache in its original place. TFTC
Find number 8490 at 1:20:11 pm
Over in the area working for a few days, maybe a week, a chance for some new geocaches.
Got a splinter in my search so I signed the log and back to the car to get the axe out.
Cache logged with sanitised hands.

Super fun find. Here I was picking a tree's nose when I should have had my finger up it's bum. Who knew?
Luckily the roos called me an idiot but then took pity and told me where it was.

Out for a day's caching in the Mill Park - South Morang area. I found over 20, mainly on my bike - it is a great area for cycling. Thanks sbrundan
t was great to get out into the outer suburbs and find a pile of nice trads this morning.
It has been a while since I have been up here and after rain the parks looked green and lush.

Suscoe headed to Melbourne today in the great company of Bushfire.
We had decided to target some caches along the Plenty Road area and we enjoyed travelling around the Mernda, South Morang suburbs as well as part of Bundorra.
It was a delightful day with plenty of sunshine and a mild breeze for most of the day. It did get quite warm during the afternoon as the cool breeze seemed to disappear.
We had a terrific day and thanks goes to all the cache owners for showing us this area.

After claiming a very high D/T challenge cache in the You Yangs yesterday, only a two km walk but the walk there and back was the easy part, but the climb ,thorns and huge rocks proved a huge challenge for the ageing Bushfire who had done the same walk two years ago on his own but two years means a lot when your over eighty, but I made it, so today these caches were very easy but I am still feeling the effects of yesterday.
My very special caching partners, the suscoe’s invited me to tag along for a visit to this area which I have never visited before even though I have been caching since 2005.
I could not get over the number of great old Red Gums that seem to have been reserved with their own little bit of space and the number of old fallen huge old logs that have been given their own space as well.
On my day in this area I logged as I went with FLL, which simply means that I will follow up with a decent log ASAP. I had a please explain from sbrundan as to what it meant so now you know what it means and here is my full log as I said I would place tonight or as soon as possible.
Special thanks to all the cache owners whose caches that we have found today as without you guys placing caches we would be back in the early 2000’s when if you found two or three caches you had a good day and travelled many km to get them, oh so different today.
Thanks sbrundan again for placing this cache for us too find. I had no idea that these guys were placed by the same cacher as today I was mainly using the phone as my GSAK had a problem.

On my way home from an event in Whittlesea this morning I stopped in South Morang to find a few of these sbrundan caches. It is good that the council has left a few of the old stumps laying around.
I was unsure about what I would find here but it wasn't very kreepy.

A friend's widow had recently moved from their country property to the retirement village nearby, so asked me to help set up her computer. So, job done, it was time to play.
After a few warmup smileys, I decided that a decent walk was in order, and discovered the cluster of caches further down Plenty Rd. The trickiest part was getting through the roadworks to get into Gordon's Rd, which involved a U-turn and a slow crawl in early peak hour traffic.
There were more acrobatics involved here while I checked possible hiding spots than strictly necessary, but hey, I found the cache safely tucked away in the end.
Thanks, sbrundan

I had been looking for a good reason to jump on the bike and today the stars aligned...this cluster of caches in South Morang and a reasonably sunny winter's day.
