Logs
Day 2 of my visit to the big smoke with Mr-Mcgoo for a Crayola coloured crayon adventure. I can't recall when I originally solved all of these - ages ago, but I love these puzzles and a nice long list was a fun goal. Great to finally years later visit all the locations revealed on my screen so long ago. Our joint caching name for the logs was Mc Itchy. TFTC and fun series kiwicouple. Took a while to find. This time a prior log was no longer relevant and the hint the better choice.
(10202) Came up to Auckland with Itchyfeet2020 to primarily get the Crayola series. Second day and it has dawned a much better day with no rain about. Got a few others as well. Solved these 5 years ago and finally going for them. Took some time to find. Must admit I do not enjoy aggie caches. Signed the log as McItchy. Thanks kiwicouple for taking the time to place the cache and for bringing me here.
Like previous cachers have noted there is nothing resembling the hint at GZ. I read that the last finder found this at the base of the concrete power pole so I made my way around and through the gate into the church and checked there, but apart from a bottle I couldn't find anything. As it keeps raining and there is a lot of litter around here I have lost the will to search anymore.
Continuing our second day of the crayola series (apologies for late logging). Yesterday we managed to find all 40 of the caches we looked for; we werent so successful today, and we also had more traffic and muggles to contend with, being closer to town. This was #20 for the day, solved in 2019. It was difficult to get a good fix on the coords here due to tree cover etc. After checking many hint objects, Mrs nzk finally located the cache at the base of a concrete power pole, about 12-15m from the coords we had. The log was full but we were able to find a space to sign. Thanks for the puzzle and cache, kiwicouple!
Out on a geocache trip with Ellen Sch , Team Eika and ingsve on holiday in New Zealand, and today it was this area that was prioritized If nothing else is mentioned, we found the cache at good coordinates and it was fine To save space in the log, we often log in with the nickname N4 Many thanks to CO for laying out and maintaining this Greetings from Norway TFTCUte p en geocache-tur med Ellen Sch,Team Eika og ingsve p ferien i New Zealand og idag var det dette omrdet som ble prioritert Hvis ikke annet er nevnt s fant vi cachen p gode koordinater og den hadde det braFor spare plass i loggen logger vi ofte med nick N4Tusen takk til Til CO for utlegg og vedlikehold av denne Hilsen fra Norge TFTC
Cachehilsen fra Ellen Sch, NorgeMe and MrVon sr have come down to Australia and New Zealand, -an old dream has finally come to an end. Team Eika and Ingsve have also traveled with us on this trip.We have been traveling cross-country for a month, and the goal is to end up in Adeleide and mega-event on the leap year. We have especially looked for old caches, to fill jasmer'n, for a couple of pieces, and for the other two of us who have started to think about reviewing more. The vast majority of them showed up at their places, sometimes we had to search a bit, but we were usually lucky in the end. There were also some DNFs.We have mostly logged in with the common nickname N4 (ingsve, Von sr. TeamEika and Ellen Sch), but our own nicknames are also used.A big thank you to all you CO's for laying out and maintaining your caches. Without their work, we would never have been able to make a living with this hobby.Always nice to have a new smiley face on the map.Cache greetings from Ellen Sch, Norway
As a once in a lifetime holiday, this year we are traveling for 7 weeks to Vietnam, Bali, Australia and New Zealand. In Australia we meet Ellen Sch and MrVon sr and Ingsve to visit these last two countries, so here we cache together. We signed the log with N4. Now we have solved many caches so we have a large number of solved coordinates. But we are interested in all types of caches, so if you receive a log, it means that we have visited your cache. We haven't quite decided where we're going, but we'll probably let the weather decide for us. We want warmth because in Norway it is now freezing. We will stay for about 2 weeks in Australia and 2 weeks in New Zealand and we will end the trip with the Mega event in Adeleide on 29 February. So thank you very much to all of you who make it possible for us to travel around finding caches. On March 6, we set course for Norway again. There are extremely nice people everywhere and we are welcomed, we thank you very much. Thanks to our cache friends for good company on the trip.
EnglishWe are six Norwegians on a trip to Australia and New Zealand. We arrived in Melbourne at the beginning of February and are traveling home after the mega event in Adelaide. We travel by car and Geocaching helps us discover many nice places and often helps to decide where we choose the route between our goals which are: Sydney, Melbourne, Auckland, Dunedeen, and Adelaide. This is one of the caches we found on the trip and we thank you for showing us this place. We who are on tour have the nicknames: MrVonsr, ingsve, EllenSch and TeamEika. And signs the logs with N4.Great thanks for showing us and doing our tour wonderful NorwegianVi er seks nordmenn p tur i Australia og New Zealand. Years after solving these puzzles we finally ventured north in search of the rainbow of colours. Although it It was not supposed to rain our day started with light drizzle which luckily cleared by late morning. Thanks for an enjoyable series of caches, we always enjoy caching around rural areas.Saw the hint item then the cache TFTC.
Matagouri and I found ourselves with a bit of free time before 'house sitting ' duties called, so headed up North for a bit of geocaching. My main focus was to attack this 'crayola series' which had been solved yonks ago in preparation for the Mega event, that I never ended up attending. It's so good to finally complete this series (other than a handful of dnfs).A big thanks to matagouri, who did all the driving around despite the fact he'd already found most of these caches. Thanks for all of the effort you've put into setting up this seriesFound this one open. Possibly muggled? But it seems ok.

Ayant résolu ces puzzles bien avant de venir en Nouvelle-Zélande, il était temps de venir chercher les boîtes. Ce sera en partie chose faite cet après-midi. Merci pour ce bon moment de chasse

Not sure what went on here- we were hunting in totally the wrong spot. Step back and thought about it and then found it no problem.
TFTC. Great find. We really enjoyed doing the Puzzles for finding the cashes for this one.
Found container by the base of concrete post about 15 meters away from ground zero towards road.

Meandering over to Waiuku for the evening and with time for some caching en route I stopped here for a look.
A nice wee church. Having been pointed to a neighbouring property I felt something wasn’t quite tickety boo so having read some previous logs I narrowed down my search area to a more likely area.
I found a good hiding place but no cache.
Thanks kiwicouple

Really wanted to complete the wheel of challenges to grab another souvenir but today is the last day and we think we are still 21 caches short. The weather is not looking great and I have to be at work again this afternoon so we decided our best bet was to head over here and start the crayola series. Solved these puzzles back in 2019 and have enjoyed this type of solve ever since. I think its what got me hooked. After a rainy morning we got a bit wet searching for this one. Looked in the wrong place to begin with but took another look and made the find. Our last cache today. Think we made the souvenir requirements. Enjoyed the series so far. Thank you for all your efforts.
I headed out today with AliGle to look for all the caches on the Crayola 64 series. AliGle had worked her way through all the jigsaw puzzles back in the days of Covid lockdowns and it's taken us a while to get around to heading down this way to find the caches. Unfortunately we didn't keep a record of the hints from the puzzle solutions, so that made the day a bit more interesting! However, most caches were easy enough finds without hints. At the end of the day we found 54 caches from the series and DNFed 10. I think half of the DNFs were most likely missing caches (based on DNF logs before us) and the other half were probably there, but we struggled to locate them having not saved the hints! We signed the logsheets with "24/04 V/A" although 2 or 3 couldn't be signed due to dampness. Some logs were also full, but we managed to squeeze our initials in somewhere. All in all it was a great day out in the picturesque countryside. Thanks for the big effort that's obviously gone into creating this series!
Vistra and I headed out today to look for all the caches on the Crayola 64 series. I solved all of the jigsaws during lockdown but we only got around to looking for them today. Unfortunately in my haste to complete the puzzles, I didn't keep a record of the hints from the puzzle solutions when they appeared at the end of the puzzles, so that made finding the caches from the coordinates alone a bit more challenging! Nonetheless we had a pretty successful day and found 54 caches from the series and DNF'd 10. We signed the log sheets with "24/04 V/A" but couldn't sign a couple because the logs were very damp. A few of the log sheets were full too and need replacing, but we managed to find a small corner to initial. Thanks very much to the COs for all the work that has gone into creating this fun series of caches and for giving us a productive and fun day out!
Our last find of the day and one we are very pleased to have found.
We had a look for this cache a few weeks ago and it was a bit of a needle in a haystack but we returned today armed with information gathered from previous logs and after a short search we spotted the cache.
A great one to end on and it brings our tally to 59, so only 5 left to find.
We have really enjoyed this series, thanks kiwicouple.

Good hint pretty church. Where a friend got married. They have just had their 60th wedding anniversary. Left a TB to be found also. 64-4=60
12,522. I finished solving the Crayola puzzles last year and was keen to come here today and find all the ones I had not solved before my previous visit. The weather was good and things were looking promising. I was borrowing my mother'n'laws little car that has barely made its way out of west Auckland in the past 20 years. All was going well until I heard the thump thump thump of a flat tyre out in the back blocks of Karaka. Changed that and discovered the spare had deflated. So two flat tyres. Rang the AA and an hour later the spare was inflated and seemed to be OK. But with no back up thought it best to bale out of caching after 24 finds and head back to the city. Will need to come back another time to complete this series.
Stopped and headed off to the coordinates but there was nothing near them that matched the hint. Read some past logs and saw the coordinates were out a bit. Checked an object nearby that better matched the hint and there was the cache. Signed the logsheet and replaced as found. Thanks kiwicouple for the geoart series.

Today I was driving out of my save Camp for about 4 hours but then it seams the wind was geting stronger, My high JUCY Camper was shaking a lot so I stoped caching. I had 16 finds, 2 was not writable and 4 No finds.
It seems I make the job from the Owner, look if all OK but I get no smiley for the no finds.
Thanks a lot.

Find #10 of the day. Solved these a while back at home so wanting to turn as many of these into smiley faces as fast as possible today. The co-ords for this are definitely off. Thanks to the activity logs we managed to find its hiding place. Note: If you need a pit stop there are public toilets and a little cafe nearby. Going to come back and explore this cute little park again. TFTC
That one was a bit more difficult to find.
The last one for us. Maybe we will come back at the end of our trip.
Thank you for the colourful mystery series

Yaay, finally managed to grab this one. Should have used my geosenses the first time I came here. After disturbing a rabbit this time I managed to grab the xache
I'm planning a trip to the far north at the end of October and party of that planning was to swing by and pick up the Crayola caches I failed to get in January. However I've had a change of plans (obviously). I'm up in Auckland for a work conference and my flight back this morning was cancelled so I've had a whole day extra. I decided to hire a car for the day and go caching and thought this would be a great opportunity to grab these caches so i get more time north of the bridge.
As stated before the coordinates are a bit out on this one but with new information I was able to find the cache quickly. All good here, and TFTC.

I managed to pick the one day out of only two per month where there was a service in action at GZ. This upset my geo-eye and so I had to return to find it later where it was a nice quick find.
Out and about collecting all the colours today. Lots of water lying around the place after a week of rain but all nice and dry today. TFTC.

3 July 2022 14:25. Mac & cheese in not a dish I like, but I managed to put that behind me... Tftc
Not much phone reception so we jumped around a bit but once we took stock - found nice and easy .
Solved these a while back and in the (very general) area today with some time…. So making a start in collecting then. Thanks.
Came out here this afternoon in the drizzle to grab a few of this series . . . . thank you
Day of from work and some fun caching for the day, Nice find using previous logs, T4T$
Solved these great, easy to solve puzzles a while back. Decided to tackle these caches today on a nice day out.
Soon located after reading previous logs, the hint confused us to start with. TFTC

Scouted around for ages without luck. We think we know where it is now - we will be back.
This was Crayola colour #6 of 64, and cache #11 for today. My overall log for the series is on [Crayola 64: Silver](https://coord.info/GL16JWD2E).
A nice big cache making it easy to find. So many cars going past so we did have to be careful.
Yum, macaroni and cheese...

With TwigNZ on a day of caching fun, finding the puzzle caches that are part of the Crayola 64 power trail around Karaka and Waiuku
Solved these about a year ago, was solving so that I could perhaps combine with the NZ MEGA, and so today was the day, only a couple of days after the MEGA which was held on the 22 January.
A joint effort, thanks again TwigNZ for having me tag along, so many roads not travelled before, cool hides, and interesting landscapes.
Cool trail, thanks kiwicouple for the puzzles, hides and the adventure

NZ MEGA 2020 (in 2022) road trip - Day 7
Apologies in advance for the C&P logging, but will mention anything that stands out. Just about all the finds were straightforward in accordance with the Hint.
** Cache found 15m due south from calculated co-ords - think "Pole" rather than "Post" **
As one of the things I thought I might attempt on this trip, I've been itching to have a crack at trying to get a day of finding a large number of caches. 200 was a target I had set myself a while back. I had noticed that there was a large concentration of caches just north of Auckland Airport, and I had also solved the Crayola 64 geo-art series a couple of years ago, and hoped that between those 2 locations I would be able to get the numbers I wanted. But doing it all on my own would be the biggest challenge.
I did have a few people say to me that I was being over-ambitious, as the Crayola series would take the best part of a day in itself to visit all the locations. I can now confirm that those people were right.
Having had a fantastic day on Browns Island on Sunday, another member of Team Done by 1 (RustyNZ) and I arranged to do just the Crayola series, and anything more would be a bonus. She had been wanting an excuse to come and find these, so it was a good opportunity for both of us. We met up just off the motorway and carpooled from there.
This was our first encounter with the final location being significantly afar from the calculated co-ordinates. We hunted around where we were expecting to find it, but after about 10 minutes R found it about 15m away. I would also suggest that Power Pole would be a better Hint. But once found, the log was soon sporting both our names and we were back off on what would end up being a really long, but worthwhile day. I didn't get my 200, but I had my best single day ever with over 100 finds
Thanks for placing this series of caches.

After the fun of the Mega yesterday back to the hard graft. Need 50 today. This series seemed ideal.

Today we decided to work as many of the Crayola series as we possibly could, having solved the entire series during lockdown (in Wellington). Cache is some metres from GZ, but found according to hint. Tftc!
Neither hint item at gz. Plenty of 9ne type about 10m away and a couple of small examples of the second type, but no cache.
Passing through on my way to Hamilton and finally able to make a start on this great piece of GeoArt (was supposed to do it in February but got a bit sidetracked by the recent GeoTour). Probably won't be back up this way untill October to finish it. All good here with another quick find as described. TFTC
Couldn't find it last time so stopped for another attempt. Got it this time. TFTC
A bit of cross country from the last cache and glad to get this one done. Last time I was too much into the grounds and when I actually checked the hint today I soon zoomed in on the likely spot and came up trumps straight away. Thanks for all of these puzzles and caches kiwicouple.
Well, Easter is here and a Good Friday trip out proved to be a good Friday for a trip out. We headed up to Manakau Heads lighthouse then looped back via Awhitu Regional Park and then snaffled up the two Crayolas that I never found when I last headed out to this area 6 months ago. Not a huge number of finds, but some new scenery was found and enjoyed and some usual suspect COs caches too. Thanks to all COs and to the region for turning on a warm day, again!

Today we had set aside for doing the Crayola 64 series, and StreetWalkerNZ had spent time last night working out the optimal route, though a bit of back tracking could not be avoided. A successful day, with just a couple of DNFs (think these caches are missing, rather than through our incompetence [:p]). Appreciated the quiet roads and variety of hides.
I couldn't believe the colour of the cheese in the states - yup, some cheeses are this colour. Makes for a very unappetising looking mac 'n cheese.
It was nice and cool in the shade here, so after finding the cache, we refuelled with a hot cross bun. TFTC.

Worked out the answers to all the puzzles during lock down and took a drive to the area today to see how many we could fine. Managed to find about 28 and happy with this. Thanks CO for the caches
Quicker to find all the caches than work them out at home. Interesting set. TFTC
Nobody around today which makes it a perfect day to pick up some crayola caches. Nice quick find here. TFTC
I never really like macaroni and cheese so I would have never picked this as a colour name. No one else seems to have used it as a colour name either.

Visiting North Island from Otago as I still had my flights etc all booked last Christmas for what was going to be the Mega Weekend. Joined up with the Southland Geocachers (MrandMrsChosen1978, Wombat_4, NZBozzy, Kiscardi, Mrs Hazzer, Tregram and I) formed the Southern Raiders to have a Mega time caching in Auckland and Rotorua.
Day 3 - a nice morning chilling at the hotel and then it was time to hit the 64 Crayola series. As one of two who had all of the puzzle final locations loaded on my phone I became the navigator in the cark with NZBozzy and Kiscardi. So much fun was had travelling around the area and on the roads we saw and waved to drivers in some very old classic cars.

[NZ Mega 2020](http://nzmega.com) is definitely happening, but has been postponed until 2021. It will be held in Auckland over Labour Weekend, 22 to 25 October 2021. It's going to be a massive celebration of geocaching:
* 20+ years of geocaching worldwide.
* 20+ years since New Zealand had the very first geocache hidden outside of USA.
* All the 20s and now 21 as well!
Talk to your geo-friends and start planning to be part of [this event](http://nzmega.com) - you won't want to miss it!

Today is Crayola day; everyone has done the puzzles, back in lockdown, and this is very much a focus of the trip, while also doing a couple of the not-this-year-Mega-2020 events.
Travelling with South Island cachers, we found a number of caches including this one, on Labour Weekend Sunday.
We have typically signed as mrandmrschosen1978 or occasionally MM78. Crayola have been signed as Southern Raiders

Day 3 with a group of us South Island cachers hitting the area around Auckland. Today we were on a mission to nab all of the Crayola series, grabbing a few others along the way.
All logs signed as the Southern Raiders today (wombats_4, Natalie247, mrandmrschosen1978.. with Kiscardi, NZbozzy) Thankyou to kiwicouple nice to meet you in person at an event this weekend. All caches found and in good order, great series, enjoy jigsaws so these were a pleasure solving! tftc

After a good start leaving home got held up in Wellington which made us late. But finally arrived & headed out this way to start the series. Sorry for cut & past.
Enjoyed solving all these. Quick easy start to our afternoon TFTP:-)

Came up with my sister for a weekend of caching. The Crayola series was on our bucket list. Apologize for cut & paste. All finds were straight forward to find. Signed logs as T or Tgram TFTC
Today was the day Team G0LD (Geocachers 0B80B8, Lis's crew and DaffyNZ) finally got to collect these puzzles. As Pete said we'd planned this trip ages ago but covid-19 got in the way.
I left my sons in Whangarei at 5am and got back home to Paihia at 11pm. It was a long day but I really enjoyed it. We found all the crayola series, a few trads near them, a few other solved puzzles. In the middle of the series we headed up to Awhitu Regional park to get a cache that required low tide. Along the way we even managed two FTF's giving us a total of just over 100 for the day.
I enjoy jigsaw puzzles so this was a fun series which I solved back in July/August 2019. The last one to log in the series. Looking at the map I might have got the order slightly wrong. Just one more cache (an ftf) to collect before heading home. Thanks for the series and sorry about the repetitious logs

Out with team Gold (0B80B8 and Liz Crew) doing a raid on the South Auckland caches. Solved most of the puzzles in the area, so it was time for the team to go and collect. Nice quick park and grab on our way past. The team soon located. TFTC
Off on a mission today with Team G0LD ( Geocachers 0B8, Lis & Daffy ) to finally do the Crayola 64 series. The puzzles had been solved ages ago and plans were made to do it in March, ( but Covid intervened). Then we rescheduled for August, ( but Covid intervened again). Then we rescheduled for October, but a house sale and early move out date threatened that date as well.
Luckily a one day leave pass was secured and we were able to hit the road down from Whangarei at 5:30 am, only to discover the Brynderwyns closed by a major accident, so had to detour via the longer windy route through Mangawhai. We eventually made it to the Karaka area by 8:15 ready to start on our route around the series.
All up today we managed over 100 caches, including all 64 Crayola puzzles, some extra puzzles, a few trads and a "slight" detour up to Awhitu Park to do the walk around there as well. A neat bonus was a couple of FTF's as well for the day. Finally made it back to Whangarei 17 hours later after over 500kms travel. Thx Greg for the driving, Lis for doing a lot of the hard yards in and out of the vehicle and yours truly for not getting us lost in an area of the country I certainly had never been before.
Thx also to Kiwi Couple for putting out this series and bringing us to this new area. Certainly interested to see all the flash "shacks" dotted around, some with awesome fences and gates, just leading to bare paddocks..!! The variety of containers was also much appreciated and some nicely crafted examples were found, which does make the experience more enjoyable.
A reasonably quick find here sleeping beside auntie Aggie. TFTC (series)

Up in Auckland visiting family for the school holidays. Heading south we decided to stop and collect as many Crayola as we could. Having the camper van is not ideal for small roads so we parked up and got on our bikes. Most of the finds were straight forward however some of the hints had changed. It may be that we solved these so long ago that we haven’t updated the hint. Thanks for the series.

Today we got our unique box of 34 Crayola. No DNF. Will have to come back for the rest another time. Thanks for the series.

Out for the day with Team Seac to try and clear out the Crayola series plus a few extra thrown in for good luck ??
This was the ninth cache of the day and it was a nice quick find thanks to the hint. The rain was coming down hard so we decided for a breakfast stop before continuing. All logs signed as Team Seac to save space, TFTC!

We have a significant caching milestone approaching which we want to obtain on a trip away over Labour weekend. To get there we needed a few more caches and so a plan was hatched the collective solving power of Team SEAC was put to the task and today was the day to collect this whole series.
The weather forecast wasn't the greatest and there was some initial discussion about postponing however the decision was made to carry on.
We meet at a predetermined spot and with Keylev, NZIceman, Laval, Cragger and Graffin we set out to conquer this series.
Well the weather that had been threatening finally arrived. Even the coats that we all packed weren't cutting the mustard. We decided to sign this log and go back down the road to a near by cafe and see if the time it took to have a coffee and a bit of a sit down would be enough for the weather to pass......
Thanks to Kiwicouple for placing this series!!!!!

NZ Travellers have a big milestone in sight and a cache they are aiming for so they need to get their numbers up a bit for the stars to align at the right time. These puzzles were all solved during the first lockdown so we thought we would take the opportunity to finally collect them. We had NZ Travellers, NZ Iceman, cragger, laval, draffin and myself along for the ride. The log was signed as SEAC to save time and space on the log.
Thanks for the cache.
Thanks for the cache.
Had a lot of fun with the Team SEAC crew today. I did some of the navigating for our car.
Thanks for the cache.

Too tough for me today, my GZ had neither of the hint items. Hmmmmm will need to come back again
#1144. After solving many caches of this geo trail series over COVID-19 lockdown at home, GB Leader and I decided a staycation in Auckland would be a good substitute to a planned overseas trip.
After spending time with second cousins in other parts of Auckland, now it was finally time to commence the hunt. Started with a DNF, then finally got the streak going - this was #5 of 9 found on Day #1.
Hint lead me astray a bit, post or power pole? A car pulled up while I was searching, checking on my activities. The man who lives at GZ. I reassured him as to my motives, and he was happy.
Tftc kiwicouple. Greetings from Wellington.

Short trip away with woolwood9.
Nice find for us today.
*Thanks for giving us a reason to visit!*
Signed log: **tm/ww NZ** (may be a black smudge on plastic logs)
Pleased to find it this time, still tough as not where we expected.

I have a 3 month sabbatical mostly traveling around the planet. My goal is to find and log 1000 caches which I reached . New Zealand is my 4th station traveling from south Christchurch to north Auckland, my first visit here, its far away. This series I already solved before my sabbatical. This is my sabbatical-cache #1008.
I solved all the Crayola 64 mysteries at home and came well prepared with all the hints. The landscape was so quiet and peaceful and the boxes were well done. With more or less searching I signed the logbooks and finished the series. Thanks for all the mysteries and the work to make my day a happy geocaching day!

Nothing quite has the look of searching as cars pass and you try to look like you are doing normal things
tftc, headed out with dad (stevecoxnz) today to battle some of these caches! Wow what alot hours and work we put into sorting these out! i cant imagine how much work the co had to put in! thanks so much! we got half of them found today and hope to get the other half asap! i really loved the camo on the caches and the hints were a great help and appreciate the effort that's been put into this. We had a great day. sorry for the cut and paste, but there's just sooooo many!
The elder Future Finder was keen to head out for some cache discovery this afternoon. Seems like a completely reasonable way to spend a few hours of this sunny day to me! I solve this series over a period of days when the opportunity presented itself, including a bunch while watching the cricket World Cup final--at least there was some positive for me of staying up all night. This one was, by far, the longest search of the day. My GPSr pointed into private property and a search of several hint like spots yielded naught. I did, eventually, track down the hide mentioned in foomanjoo's log, but, I just didn't think it was correct. A quick call to the CO and I finally spied an alternative spot that I had neglected and with it, the cache. At the CO's request I have removed the duplicate container. Cheers for the puzzle cache placement!
