Hmmm someone may have shot the bird! My GPS wasn't giving any response so I suspect maybe the battery has gone flat
My Garmin Oregon 700 did not detect any chirp at or near the published coordinates. I put in fresh batteries and that did not make any difference.
We are staying really close to the start of this multi so last night I suggested to GK that we go for a walk to try to find this one.
So I downloaded a chirp thingy and off we headed - we go to the park in a couple of minutes and something happened with the chirp thingy but I didn't understand how it all worked. The wind was bitterly cold and we were unsure of what we had to do next so we promptly headed back to the warmth of our accommodation.
I have only done one other chirp cache and that was using the gps so this was a new way of trying to do them for me.
This morning we headed out again and we soon arrived at gz, GK did the honours in retrieving the cache, I signed the log and he returned it as he found it.
We had a bit a a play on some of the equipment before heading out for the day.
Thanks for placing this cache and thank you for the smiley

Chirp chirp. Nothing at gz. Hmm. Maybe off hunting for worms. Just heard a faint noise near the white post. I know what that is so set off to find the hide only to find the door open and the cupboard bare. Oh no I cried, what a shame. Luckily I had some provisions with me so filled it up again.
Number 7 of my 10 day multi challenge. Most fun yet.

No chirping but Googled where the possible final may be sodden logbook on ground and cache open in it's hide. Added a ritr logsheet in a a baggie. KNCN had fun on the exercise equipment tftc
The weather has warmed a bit. I have never seen anyone using those machines in a park.
Sadly the chirp didn't work for me. So I chirped some friends.
It's not raining but cold. No work and low calendar numbers made me decide to explore the Selwyn area a little today. Thank you Mr Cuddly Brick for this cache.

Always enjoy doing chirp caches. Had to go to Rolleston to get a few things. This was my target cache for today
Lytteltonwitch had a theory, she was correct. Nice easy find, great area! Thanks for taking us there.
Neither my phone or my GPS are compatible with chirp but I had an idea of where to look and was very pleased to find the cache
This was a new style of cache hunt to me, but definitely a fun one! I wasn't really dressed for bush bashing today and I passed on a previous hunt (I'll come again another day) but decided to risk it with this 1 and came away with 2 smilies...1 on me and 1 on the map

Was worried the software on my gps was too out of date but I just wasn’t standing close enough to gz. Was feeling too lazy to exercise,
First one of these that I have done. I was wondering for a few minutes if I was too early and up before sparrows fart but eventually the avian creature awoke and sang for me. Guess I'm off for a bit of a run now. 20 minutes or so later I was at GZ and soon had the container in hand, signed and returned. Should be more of these ones around. A favourite for a new attribute gained.
Having a long weekend and decided to head up to Christchurch to meet friends. The rest of the weekend was spent geocaching, grabbing many of the puzzles solved during lockdown.
This was my second day going out and finding some great caches to fill in some challenges and complete some fun series.
All good here.

[NZ Mega 2020](http://nzmega.com) is definitely happening, but has been postponed until 2021. It will be held in Auckland over Labour Weekend, 22 to 25 October 2021. It's going to be a massive celebration of geocaching:
* 20+ years of geocaching worldwide.
* 20+ years since New Zealand had the very first geocache hidden outside of USA.
* All the 20s and now 21 as well!
Talk to your geo-friends and start planning to be part of [this event](http://nzmega.com) - you won't want to miss it!
We are in Rolleston, on our way back to West Melton and stopped by here. Hey have not had a chirper in a while. Thankfully The Seagnoid had his tecky thing and scrambled around capturing the chirp. then off to GZ with a few more stops along the way. A quick snag and tag here. Cheers.
Its a long weekend in Christchurch, with The Seagnoid, Zara and Toby, and Star Gazing on the radar. Unfortunately clouds put paid to seeing stars but great event meeting up with the locals. Enjoyed visiting Halswell Quarry, Lincoln, Port Hills and running around after the Smurf family. Cool, fine days and NO rain made for an awesome weekend. Will be back again soon.

Don't see enough chirp caches . Took a bit of a while to collect the chirp, the range on these is pretty short. We then did a few other caches on the way to the final and I had a bit of a play on the equipment while the dragon signed the log. It's dusk now (we didn't quite need a torch for the hunt) so this is the last cache for the day. Tomorrow we are going to explore Lincoln.
Came down on Thursday night with Taybeedragon for a three day geocaching trip and to collect a rare cache type - so rare that this will be the first ever for me - a 10-Year Celebration Event cache (now rejigged as Community Celebration Events). But that was yesterday alng with some adventure labs and Halswell Quarry, and I still have a whole day and a half to muck about in Christchurch before heading home. Having smurfed some caches we are now just collecting odds and sods given that there is still some light left.

Find #1 of 8 today (from 10 attempts).
I'd finished my early shift at work a bit early, Mrs Rincewind was also working, and R jr had driven to Ashburton to visit her Nana. What's a cacher to do?
I'd "solved" this one some time ago but was foiled by extensive muggle activity. Today I only had to wait for one exercising muggle and two on new scooters to vacate, then I was able to swoop for an easy find (nice container, BTW).

Son sorted the birdsong while I was still signing the previous! Great location, pity no one using! We tried all the different options. TFTC!!
Got the information some time ago, but were heading in the other direction. So today we decided to make the short detour and grab this cache. Not quite the size we expected - if a bison does not survive here, how would this box? But time will tell - in the meantime we are happy to say TFTC
My exercise today was to cyclocache from Templeton to Rolleston via Lincoln and Springston and see if I could locate this little tweeter before it goes awol or dies, as well as gather info for the French Connection.
From past experience I knew that my Montana 650t was a little hard of hearing regarding these little birds so I brought along my trusty old GPSMap 78s. The ol' 78s didn't let me down and very quickly passed over the final coords. So, with those loaded into the Montana, off I went on a cycle ride across to the other side of town. The final GZ was just as I had suspected. After reading the description I thought I was going to be in for a bit of a search looking for a bison tube. But, I was pleasantly surprised to see that the container was something much larger.
Thanks for placement Mr Cuddly Brick.

No one using the equipment today, just some walking exercise for us.
Yook a bit of thinking to remember how to search for the chirp - it has been a few years, then off to another find this time.
Thanks

It had been a while since I'd done a cache of this type, so I wasn't quite sure how to handle it on my GPSr at first. However, once I'd worked it out... it took quite a while. The signal wasn't great and it took me about five attempts to get the required information. But get it I did, and we were led to a rather interesting part of town. We had a little fun revelling in the local surroundings and then Hevic extracted the cache, pointing out (correctly) our time constraints.
The final cache that Hevic and I picked up on our whirlwind Canterbury visit. Cheers!

I like tech caches especially if it provides an opportunity to use my Oregon to find a chirp so when I spotted that this multi was nearby I just had to give it a go. As per my usual practise because it comes with the coveted beacon attribute and dollars invested that equals favourite point. The chirp was chirping loudly and I picked up its co-ords real quick and then I heard a "meow." Of course a meow is not a user friendly greeting for things that chirp but this one was a very friendly ginger tabby with one eye who came over to check me out. We had a short conversation before I said I gotta go kitty but my one eyed furry friend was intent on joining me back at the truck and being my navigator. I didn't want to be accused of catnapping so a quick lap around the park enabled me to shake the cat. It would take 2 visits at GZ before I could get into finding the cache but it was challenging given that the hint and description was all good but still no cache so I expanded my search area and still no cache. I had spoken to the CO earlier and mentioned I was heading here so with a bit of too and fro over GC messenger we established the cache had gone - bugger! Usually I travel with spares but today I had left those important bits on my workbench in the garage. The CO was kind enough to say 'log it' and he'll swing past with a replacement. Many thanks Mr Cuddly Brick for the adventure!
My current phone isn't smart enough to hear chirps so I had to get the old S4 out of retirement. It had no problem finding what was required.
The cache was a quick find. An interesting set of equipment. I will have to come back and have a go! TFTC.

That was fun. Really enjoyed the cheep cheep and lovely end spot. Thanks for the cache.

Now I knew my Montana 360T would not pick up the co-ords, even though it is a replacement model, although we did go to GZ1 and try. But I knew someone with a Monterra which I knew worked so pleaded with them to share!!! (actually pleading was not necessary!) Today we finally got to go for gold. Had to share the space with some children, but managed to retrieve surreptitiously. Thanks B, nice to have something different and a nice place to visit.
Out on Mad Monday Mission to grab a cache or two and then find a warm pub. We were able to score the first WP and headed to the final. It didn't take long to nab the final. Headed back to town to try and find a pub that was open. It took four attempts. We were glad to have found a cold one.
Thanks for the cache Mr Cuddly Brick

Monday night mad mission with TheWanglers. TW needed to perform some cache maintenance then we decided to come out here and poke a stick at the chirp. Quickly downloaded and on to the final. A few dog walkers out and about but all quiet at GZ for a quick find and sign. Neat wee park - spent a bit on the equipment! A fun evening. Cheers.
StreetWalker and I both needed at least several finds today for a calendar day, and Rolleston had quite a few newish caches we hadn't found, so despite the inclement weather, we headed south west.
It's been a while since I had last done a chirp cache, and it seems to be different from what I remember. We had a few technical issues - as we approached the published co-ordinates, the details started to download, but got to 10% and stopped, then an error message displayed. I turned my GPSr off and on again, but the 10% message displayed again. It looked like I could edit the Wp, and when I tried this, I got some co-ords. Phew.
At the very impressive GZ, the cache was a quick find. No-one was using the equipment at the time, I wonder why ? Thanks for bringing me to 2 lovely locations - and which would be even nicer when the sun is shining. TFTC.
BTW, thanks for my 1000th multi cache find

#17247. After some "10% downloaded" teething issues my GPSr eventually downloaded the chirp info, but then I couldn't find any coords to go to. Luckily Troodles had better luck with her Oregon, and before long we were at GZ where I made a quick find. TFTC.
We weren't even going to try this but after a nudge we decided to give it a go. Took 2 GPs and a bit of wandering to and fro to get the chirp then came the fun part. More brain power and off we went. Found it. If it wasn't so cold would have loved to try out the equipment. TFTC

Chirp chirp chip! For some reason c:geo didn't show any logs at the time I went for it. But I knew, it must have been found already as it was published yesterday. Nevertheless, I think the fact that I didn't see the logs although knowing that there must be, still made me haste and get to the final as soon as I could.
Well, nobody has posted any pics with them doing the exercises though, so at least I'm FTPP!

A quick and easy find once we got to the park. We got to the published coordinates just as KM was pulling away. I waved as loufly as I could, but he was focused on getting to the GZ. Jumped in the car to tail him, but lost him in the traffic , so went back and got the coordinates, and met up and hasd a chat at GZ. Lovely day!! Cheers
Back home, and a lovely day for a little drive.
Thanks to all CO's for placing and maintaining their caches. Cheers

A quick dash instead of lunch and then not enuf dash as we met the victorious Moose. Also forgot the sweat band and leg warmers. It was lovely sitting in the sun . Tftc
The email came in at 11:38, I was gone by 11:48 and thought I might have been beaten as it was a ways down the road. The chirpy bird was successful and then the GPS led me on a bit of a run around to get to the final. Once there, a cache to be found first then some exercise. Just finished all that when The KR's showed up, they'd seen me leave the chirpy bird's nest so I was just in time. A bit of a chat and a catchup then off back home to the kids. Cheers Mr CB for the [FTF]
