DNF, note coords may need updating after some comments. Not having luck with these today Cheers anyway.
Searched the tree that the GPS favoured but couldnt spot it so searched the other Gumtrees in the area before DisSister and I finally began looking on the ground which is where we found the cache . Signed the log and replaced it in the preferred tree although have no idea if its in its right position. CO may want to check. TFTC
With the promise of high temperatures today, we decided to head up to this area for the chance of a sea breeze as we cached. The shady walk to GZ was welcome and we were soon looking skyward. After spending quite some time searching the tree that the arrow was pointing to and then all the surrounding trees, we were puzzled and resorted to the images but they didnt really help us at all. By chance, I glanced across towards the tree I had started at and spotted poor Barry on the ground. Now that probably made Barry relieved as much as it did me. Unfortunately for him, I felt like we should actually put him back into the tree. We couldnt find an appropriate branch above where we had found him on the ground so we chose another one which still presents some challenge for removal, given the difficulty rating. Will send a photo to the CO to show where he is now. Thanks Simber15
Knowing Barry from many years ago, and his lovely wife, I had to DO this cache and am I glad I did, the Guardian was not the usual 8 legged type, but a green bug, like a grass hopper but semi transparent, signed log with blood as I had some where misplaced my pen, Photo can be sent if required
We couldn’t sign because we didn’t have a pen. My geo buddy climbed the tree. Easy to spot, but hard climb.
Found it after a good 30 minutes and climbed the tree but forgot the the pen. Apparently not good enough. Owner won’t allow it and made me remove it. Love humanity oh well, whatever makes people sleep better at night.
Luckily a quick grab while we were under attack by hordes of mozzies. I think we were losing this war and beat a hasty retreat

Back for redemption after my failed attempt 3 years ago. Had never heard of the tool required before but today I got the job done.
Thanks again, definitely a bit of fun
Thanks again, definitely a bit of fun
Out with Jaktembo lucky they had the tott, but we had the wits about us to find it as there old and blind
Out showing Dolans22 how to get these caches. Love the concept of this cache, might put a sister cache in my area.
Time to break the Rod out to catch a few this arvo.
All found in good order. Time for a bite to eat and a cold beverage.
Cheers

Simber15 I found your cache Barry the Brave! on 1/2/2023, 10:50 am. This is my find 4698 and find # 4 today. Found it, retrieved it, signed it and returned it Thanks for the cache, mate! TNSLLN
Barry wasn’t happy hanging up there thought I was going to rescue him but all I wanted was the log and back up he went. Thanks for this one as well
We found Barry this morning and he had collected a few cobwebs. The retrieval went well, log signed and Barry was hung up again. All good here. Thanks Simber15 for the fun!
I have visited Barry before. I was out here for a pedal hunting smileys. No pole that day. Today no bike, but I did have my fishing pole.
No trouble spotting this one. I could almost (nah, not a chance) get to like this fishing thingy.
I will give it a fav tho.

#7 for today while at Bribie. Quick retrieval, log signed and cache put back in place. TFTC, TFTH & TFTSF.
What a great cache to finish off our walk this afternoon!
Krcamber has wanted to get this one for a while and today we finally got here. A great fish down by krcamber and the cache was awesome!
Thanks for the fun and creative cache, Simber15!

This cache is super cool! So creative and a lovely way to finish off our wander in this area. A nice quick retrieval and we soon had Barry back in place with two new names on the log. FP for this one coming your way. TFTC!
I met up with Selva Girls today to do the caches in Toorbul and after finishing there headed to this area for a bit of fishing and fun. This was the next and last along this trail for me today. Once at GZ the cache was soon retrieved, log signed and then all returned as found.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for me and others to enjoy.

Before a paddle in Pumicestone passage this morning I came by here as this cache fills a hole in my micro DT grid. It was a nice easy walk and then into the bush where it didn’t take too long to spot the cache.
Moving around to get a better position to rescue Barry I almost ran into an enormous orb spider! Back track a few steps and I guess I’ll deploy the pole from here... deployed the pole and kept one eye on the prize and the other on the creature with the scary legs, ready to run if it decided to jump at me.
Happy to report Barry was safely retrieved and was generous in giving up his carefully guarded goods and he dutifully went back up the tree without too much fuss. Adding a FP for the great cache design

We headed out to chase some of the water caches in the little birdies series and some other caches around the area. This was one we found this day. After a rough start the weekend with DFC breaking his wrist, and getting a flat on the boat trailer he still wanted to come out and complete this amazing geoart.
Before leaving the new geocar (Track my adventures here D78QWZ) we determined which ones in the series we were going to target for the day, confirmed the difficulty and terrain was ones we needed for our grid and read some pervious finder logs. DFC, Princess1005 and BrisLions set off to head over in one of DFC's geoboats.
FINALLY after a getting a little grubby from the mud and within minutes, BrisLions, DFC had spotted the cache, then added our little ink mark to the logbook. While JLK and MummaBear66 found some one land and JLK start writing the logs.

There's a lot you can say about Bazza. If I had to sum it up in one word, I'd throw around egoistical, ostentatious, pompous, self-conceited or an english commentator at an Ashes Test match. How'd I come up with this opinion?
Bazza knows he's above everyone else, he flaunts his lofty position and obviously has a high opinion of himself. When I finally met Bazza he was just hanging around and doing bugger all. In Bazza's defense, he came down easily and wasn't too keen being replaced.
Though this was a great idea for a cache Simber15 and bought a smile to the dial. A FP for your idea and execution.

Barry the brave had to be very brave with us using him as our first tree fishing with our very own pole. My muggle father helped put on the hook so when he he wanted to test drive my new car, I took him to a test drive of my fishing pole Muggle dad spotted Barry straight away. The mozzies spotted us soon after.
LittleT9 had a go. LittleT10 had a go. I got Barry down. And signed the log.
Putting Barry back was a little more of a challenge. But while doing the mozzie dance, I got there in the end.
A favourite point because is a creative tree-fishing cache and I am pretty sure Barry represents the Sim part of the CO.
Although there are a few more in the area, it was home for some pole adjustments.

Thanks Simber15 for the laugh. That’s a great variation. Not the highest but worthy of another FP. No doubt it will rack up more in future.
Today, it was an opportunity to visit Bribie Island, and then geocache from Sandstone Point to Beachmere. I started the morning with a kayak with Snickersallan in Bribie Island's westerly passage, where we visited the Avon wreck. I then took a walk around Godwin Beach Environmental Reserve conducting some tree fishing, before grabbing lunch and heading to Beachmere's event. It was a nice occasion to drive around the area, and then with remaining available time, it was a short visit nearby to Caboolture Airport, followed by North Harbour Heritage Park, completing *Morayfield Heritage* Adventure Lab. I ended the day attending the *6th Annual Yuletide on the Northside* event in Pine Rivers Park.
After making the short walk from the main track, I looked around a few trees before seeing the cache in the right light. Barry was soon rescued using my TOTT, and I must say that I loved this cache construction - awesome! The cache container and logbook were in good shape. A Favourite Point from me! Thanks Simber15 for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

Continuing our trek through the Godwin beach reserve - nice clear paths and lots of interesting plants. We got a little lost trying to find Barry at first until I realised that I hadn't refreshed the page and the co-ordinates had changed! Soon found him after correcting the mistake. He looks great hanging there - just like he landed.
J got him down and was especially excited as this was like one of his favourite childhood toys The construction is very impressive - a lot of work has gone into this. Certainly deserves a favourite point (to add to all the others) once I earn some more.
After signing the log and a few photos, we got Barry back in the air after his brief reprieve.

Unfortunately work and exams have prevented the time needed to rebuild ‘Barry’ and time has slipped a little! Will make it priority to get it back out there.
We are still at the Caboolture showground and today we decided to spend the time looking for more of the Little Birds, along with any other caches we come across. The puzzles for the Little Birds were solved while we were in lock down in Victoria, guess something good had to come out of our forced ‘home stay’.
Today turned out to be quite interesting, from experiencing mud baths, spider wraps – anyone who knows me know how much I cannot cope with spiders. We found caches flying from the trees, torches way up high, a sad roosta and many more.
How can you know 'The Mongrel' and not feel like he is family. We have spent marvelous times with him and Anne. Ours started with me misunderstanding how to say their caching name which we had laugh with them about.
Sadly we had an unfound on a trad, we are sure that it is there but just to good for us today.

Day 8 our last day camping at the Caboolture showgrounds.
Today we headed towards Bribie Island, a few birds & some fishing caches found.
We have met Baby & Mrs. Gopher a number of times, & we include them amongst our good friends in geocaching.
Barry the Brave once again has taken a dive from his location. Found on the ground & replaced in a likely spot.
Thankyou Simber15 for placing this cache.

TFTC. Staying behind in Dayboro until the school holidays have finished we took the opportunity to have a day out . We decided that this area with fishing caches was just the ticket. We walked the loop from where we parked the vehicle .
We also include babyand Mrs gopher as close friends. It seems appropriate to find the two tribute caches a this time. thanks Simber15

Day two of our trip to the Mega after Gladys said yes. Pole fishing was a strong theme of the day and the areas north of the city had plenty to chose from. Despite the rain the Megatons as it appears in a number of the logs where signed as we pushed on. Some tricky hides and reaches but success at each one. TFTC
This was almost a DNF. The geo trails said we had the right tree and then later we found Barry on the ground so replaced in a likely spot.

This was a challenging find and B@W finally found Barry on the ground. Looks like he had a tough landing with a missing arm. We returned him to up high. Cache was in excellent condition other than a broken arm.

Thanks for this cache and for the series of Tree Fishing.
We were in the area yesterday with BigRed02 collecting some Little Bird caches so we thought we would do a recon to see what equipment we would need for the tree fishing.
Then it was off to Bunnings to buy some supplies. Back home to construct a retrieval device and we had a bit of practice on some tall trees.
Sadly half of Team BigRed02 was laid up in bed this morning but she insisted we go ahead anyway. Thankfully it was the 6’7” half of the team that was available. We needed all of his height, the six metre pole and in one case a further metre and a half extension to reach all of the caches.
We had an absolute ball and many laughs were had.
Thanks for this great series.

Peppa's tree fishing set up has definitely paid for itself now. Cache was quite quickly retrieved, signed and replaced.
Our second ever tree fishing cache... armed with new TOTT, a selection of hooks from Bunnings and my ever trusty assistant PirateLinda we actually managed to retrieve and return the cache without too much of an issue... the log was full so I’ve added another... it was the process of telescoping my TOTT that caused the issue... I think we’ve rectified that now...

We only had a small window to find some caches this morning and this was the last of them. Once again my wife had the cache down and up in no time. She started thinking about what else she could do with her pole.
The obvious thing would be to use it as weapon. If I was to come sniffing around after a few beers, she could extend it to create some personal space while at the same time seeing if she could hook an eye or two out.
She also thought about changing the ironing board hook we have as an attachment, to something able to support a wine glass. Without moving from the lounge, she could extend her empty wine glass to me when I’m trying to sneak in a top-up.
Her last idea and possibly her best was to make it into the world’s largest selfie stick. That idea isn’t new but allows you to move the camera so far away from yourself that you are hardly recognisable in the photo. It would be the perfect gift for those that are image conscious and don’t like being snapped. tftc

After the fab event this morning a group of us headed off to try and catch some tree fish. After we'd finished the new caches our group dwindled to 4 & we continued on to the caches along this path. It was hatzoff's turn to do the fishing here & she only needed one cast to quickly hook the very cute Barry. He was returned to solid ground to pay us a visit then returned to his high flying home.

We arrived at GZ after going commando (and not the undie kind) taking on the jungle like we were soldiers on a mission to rescue our buddy Barry, poor bugger done himself a mischief and zigged when he should have zagged and ended up in a tree, Mrs Wallaby did the honors of retrieving barry with our loaner-pole with my hopes she might like tree fishing enough to let me buy a pole too, ohhh, the evil evil caches I could hide... anyways, my village of mosquitos have now grown, my legs are looking like a bloody mess, they have there own cemetary, the local god botherer is holding minute by minute funerals and seconds of silence between attacks from my hand.... I have a god complex by now, im squishing them... with my finger tips... all finger of god like... luckily, other then the buzzing and the momentary bites, i'm relatively immune to mosquito bites, so their fierce warriors were pretty useless... fun fact, mosquitos who bite you are female, so, they must all be amazon warrior women mosquitos... its almost like wonder woman 1984, but better, more blood and better acting..
Barry was soon found, he had his log signed and soon made a pass at Mrs Wallaby, so back up the tree he went, no funny business with my wife buddy... this was 2nd last find for the day, better go back to the car, I have swamp business! thanks for the cache!

Tftc Simber15, first cache of this type, after construction of a tott to do the job headed out to give it a try. Spotted the cache quickly and safely retrieved, signed log and then returned to its perch with only a slight fumble.
Out and about to pick up some caches and did a bit of tree fishing. Looked for where the cache was and before too long the cache was hooked. Signed the log and put the cache back where found. TFTC
Out with Mr muggle over the past weekend quoting jobs in the area. The condition of me coming with him was for him to come and find a cache or two with me. As much as I would have loved to complete the whole trail today, I contented myself with a visit to Barry as he fills a D/T square for my next loop. Mr muggle stayed in the cleared area while I carried my TOTT toward gz. I spotted Barry up high and deployed my retrieval device. Soon I had the log in my hand, and was signing in a space where I could find room. The log is full and some signatures have started to fade off the paper. If I get back to do the trail in the near future I'll bring Barry a replacement. I returned Bazza as I found him and made my way back to MM.Thanks for the small caching adventure today Simber15, I look for ward to more!
Visiting Bribie Island and surrounds from the Gold Coast with E_Smiley, Tenkae and patrol14 with most logs signed as team PETS. We came prepared with our special ToT and hoped we had the right bait as we all enjoy the latest craze of tree fishing. Nice walk with a slight detour into the bush where we soon spotted Barry. We treated him very gently and replaced him as found, a well deserved favourite point.

We signed as Team PETS or our caching names, depends on who has the pen. LOL
Thanks for the cache Simber15 and taking us here. Barry's arm is broken and he was upside down when we found him.

Today we are caching with E_Smiley, Tenkae and Snickersallan to find some of the Little Bird series caches as well as others in the area. (log signed as Team PETS)
Last fishing cache for the day and a quick catch and release for us. Thanks for the great adventure.

Out on the dark side today with Stairman1 chasing down a heap of caches that have popped up here recently. Loved this area, beautiful bushland and easy tracks, always love the seaside as I lived the other side of the river at Wynnum for many many years. I was contemplating these for a while and trying to decide 'how'?... Looking at fishing rods etc but then I had a flash of inspiration. My son who was an electrician once still stored his gear in my shed. One piece was a 'Hot Stick', used to turn power on and off at the power pole. Bingo had the solution. Strolled down to this beautiful piece of bushland and soon located the first fishing spot. I have to admit even with the right equipment it was a tricky job collecting Barry. Job done and log signed I employed my man friday, (Stairman1) to put it back. Helps to have a back up. Thanks Simber15 I'd love to give a favourite on all these caches but I don't have enough but I'll give one here. Great fun
Had a track choice and may have made the wrong choice. But the area is so nice to stroll thru that it just didn't matter. Muggle65 made a very nice job of the retrieval and Barry made a beautiful landing. It is quite windy today so probably not as easy as he made it look. Cache is in perfect order. TFTH
Well! That was a fun adventure. Today and for this particular geocache, we used our brand new TOTT!
Now that we have tried one, we may need to make a few adjustments to our special tool, however after some efforts we managed to retrieve Barry and bring him safely to the ground.
What a fun, and now just to send him back on his next journey. after a little wobbling around and a couple of attempts, we finally had Barry safely up in his perch again.
Thanks Simber15
A favourite added.

Making our way around this lovely reserve, Geopup Bella and I headed in to find Barry the Brave.
Looking for a bit of a geopath towards gz, I ended up making one of my own. With the light starting to fade, I realised I needed to keep a good eye on where we had come from so we could easily make our way out.
Finding Barry high up in his home, I got the TOTT ready and put it to good use. Shortly after, I was signing the log and getting Barry ready to return home. I gotta say this was the trickiest of the 3 tree fishing caches I did today, Barry just didn't want to go home, he kept jumping off the hook and plummeting back to the ground. Sixth time lucky! I was able to negotiate with him and get him to agree to go home.
We headed away from gz, in the wrong direction (not surprising for me!), but I soon found another path which provided a quicker way back to the car.
Thank you Simber15 for the cache, I have loved doing these new types of caches today and look forward to doing more. A fav from me to round out an awesome day.

Found with goldielover today. Well this one had that adapt and overcome moment.
Mission accomplished.

The right tool is essential, and a Fork stick to get him back in place. I felt like I was playing survivor.
Barry appears close to retirement. We will arrange a new replacement but for now he can stay at his perch. All good.
Chamad and myself has been talking about going to Bribie Island for some time now, so today that day came to reality as we both had several target caches that we needed in the area.
I had a few caches that were a MUST for me as they would knock off a few more degrees for my 360 from home and a couple of DT combos that will help out on a few challenges also.
Today I ended up with 16 finds, but unfortunately 2 DNF's.
All in all, it was a fantastic day to be outside today and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

While I was out to continue a couple of challenges which I’m working on; a traditional a day and a cache a day, I did have some target caches in mind. The tree fishing series in this area also filled in a particular d/t grid position as well. While I required a particular tott, I did require the help of geonayfee.
With the tool required it was an easy find and capture. The cache was on the ground when we arrived and made easy to sign however we replaced it in a position that suits a t5 rating. A very nicely themed cache and one that gave me a smile. Thank you for placing this one here, the log was all nice and dry however the cache does require a little maintenance.

Our last cache in here today and it didn’t disappoint. Another one where the weapon gets to come out, and what do you know Mr 4ando has it is his sight straight away, he loves using his tool, up it goes again. A little wobble action going on again, if nothing else comes out of this he is in with a chance on survivor if he ever goes in one of those challenges where you use your rod to get the key, he has his rod under control and would smash it.
Down with the cache again and we are starting to guess the cache owner probably has a son. With our names on the last log in here we ventured sadly out as we had run out of these awesome caches in a great spot. Leaving another FP here for a great couple of hours and caches, it was a lot of fun.

Out fishing with Nyssaflutterby 1minniemoo and Mrs Sp. a nice wander through the bush land here, a lot cooler then the last time Nf And I were here.

Our second cache along the way for Wacky Wednesday. This time it was my turn with the pole. With the sun at the wrong angle of course, I did manage to lift our stranded Barry down safely.
Getting him back up was slightly more challenging as he swung up and over the pole and needed to be lowered to straighten him out once more before reattempting. But soon he was back to hanging around again. He certainly knows how to social distance at a time like this.
Thanks for the cache Simber15.

Out and about with wombles, 1MinnieMoo, Mrs Slow Puncture and Jelly the Wonderdog on a lovely sunny day, stretching our legs and arms. We all met up at the east trailhead and then set off down the track. Thankfully Mrs SP had just the tool we needed for this fishing expedition.
Once at GZ it didn’t take long to spot Barry just hanging about. 1MM had a go this time at rescuing him from high above. Love the work that has gone into making up this one!
We left some scribble and Barry was returned back to his home.
Thanks for the cache Simber15

Out with GrannySmith1947 and BrisLions. A change of scenery brought us to this area. After finding a nearby cache, we headed to this one. A bush bash to GZ where cache was quickly spotted. We put our TOTT to good use and were soon signing the log. Now, which way back to the path??? TFTC
Chilling with my kids at Sandstone Point today. Barry seemed a bit lonely lately and thought I’d pop by for a visit.
The kids got sick of the mozzies fairly quickly so this was perhaps the fastest tree fishing I’ve ever done.
I didn’t help that a massive spider made his presence known within a few meters of GZ.
Very cool cache container - throwing in an FP for the effort and experience
Barry also fills in a missing DT combo for me - getting closer!

Finally able to catch up on logging caches found earlier in the year. Today, I was out and about with dahumbug, Beardman75, Simber15 and Captain Vimes for a terrific day of caching fun with a twist We were going on a fishing expedition Thanks Simber15 for providing the fishing pole, otherwise we would have been up a creek without a paddle
While we had no difficulty in locating this cache, actually retrieving same was not so easy Eventually, we managed to perfect out technique and with our names added to the log book, we replaced the cache as found and continued on our way.
Thank you Simber15 for placing the cache and for maintaining it for everyone to enjoy

This was our last tree fishing cache for the day.
Thank you so much to the CO for meeting up with us all today and making a day of it.
I really appreciate it.
Great to try a new concept of caching and I think I might have to get a pole myself...Lookout cachers on the Sunny Coast.
Thanks very much to my cohorts on the day...Simber15, Beardman75,Captain Vimes and Mrs Just A Trifle.
Thanks to the CO for this one. I earnt a FP with caches found today and I am allotting one to this one for the cache container and the CO deserves it.
Thanks again...Simber15

Leonard of Quirm is the most famous inventor on the Disc. He went missing a few years ago but a lot of his drawings can still be found. I don’t know what comes into some people’s heads that they think it would be a good idea to try and make these things. I’m pretty sure the man currently dangling from the top of the Library at Unseen University is starting to have second thoughts. Ye gods... how do people come up with these things.
Out with dahumbug, Just A Trifle, Simber15 and Captain Vimes today to reel in a few caches. Simber15 kindly offered their rod for our angling expedition. This was the last of the day and a fitting way to finish. I retrieved the little guy without much trouble and, after returning him to his hide, we headed back to the cars. Thanks for the cache and for a fun day out.
Out and about geocaching with Grand Poobah, Iolanthek and T-tech as we have a geocaching fishing pole with us. So it was around town we went finding the caches that need this tool of the trade. [^]
We made a few finds around here as well as a couple of others as well.
Thanks for the cache.

Iolanthek and T-tech have a new geocaching fishing pole so BC and I joined them for a day finding these types of caches.
Plus a few others as we went along.

Before Christmas Orange Crew held a "come and try" event for his tree fishing cache. T-Tech and I attended and were very impressed with the tool, so I did some research and decided to place an online order for one. A few others figured they'd add to the list so in the end I ordered seven
They finally arrived last Monday and T-Tech added a hook to mine, and this morning we headed out with Brother Colin and Grand Poobah for some tree fishing [^] We did Brislion's four Postie Series ones at Joyner, then Simber15's three (plus three other Trads) at Godwin Beach.
We took the big loop around all the caches in this area, and got smileys everywhere. This was the best find of the day [^] Love the "camo I got to do the fetching, and it sure was tricky. Then of course Barry went flying, but he parachuted very nicely to safety Nice work on the container, too. Giving this one a favourite point. TFTC, Simber15.

Well this was a bit of fun.
Not sure what to expect here we took a walk first to find ‘Barry’ and check out what was required. We hatched a plan. Returned to the car to collect a few tools and back to GZ we went with a spring in our step, fingers crossed and hoping what we had would work.
Happy to report it all worked well. In fact our tool was so good we decided to get the other ‘fishing’ caches while we were here.
We released the dragonfly TB that was keeping ‘Barry’ company up there.
Thanks for the fun cache Simber. Fav Point from us.
