Interesting spot, is there anything other than AFL? When two teams on the wrong side of the Barasdi line fought it out for the grand final a few days ago!
For someone like me who is not interested in sport, this is of historical interest only. Easy find after a little thought and a bit of luck. TFTC
What a terrific cache to find.Found with tassie expat while exploring this interesting area. Thanks for putting it here.
I am so going to drop 'The Barassi Line' into my next AFL conversation! A quick find, just have to be sneaky with the traffic. TFTC
Didnt know such a thing existed but it makes perfect sense. My son has moved to Queensland and now has to try and understand a new sport and all its rules that had never received any attention before being a Victorian TFTC
I have 3 main objective for this weekends caching run, first is to complete the final location for Adventure Lab Bollards Bonanza North in Whittlesea then secondly on to Ned Kelly County to get the final for Neds Last and Final Stand multi which has been on the to do list for ages but sadly when I arrived at the gate to start my walk I discovered they where doing planned burns and there was No Public access so I abandoned that and came to Wangaratta to finish off all the Adventure Labs and a few caches and then thirdly across to Corowa to get my Centriod cache so I can log the physical cache in Williamstown. After that I will be just free wheeling my way back home to Gippsland. Signed log and replaced. Thanks to everyone who placed there caches.
Found it today after a short break from Corowa and the Rutherglen Mega we are back to finish off the Easter Mega caches. Woohoo. Found this one on our way around the country to collect the Mega caches. Great find, great info. TFTC
On a relaxed road trip today with no specific plans. We have often driven by this cache with the plan to look next time. With the recent passing of Ron Barassi it seemed the perfect time to stop and sign the cache. My Dad was a loyal Carlton supporter and we will be hoping Carlton beats Brisbane Lions in the Preliminary Final tonight to see the Blues into a grand final against Collingwood. Thanks for the interesting history about the Barassi line.
Out searching for geo caches today on a road trip with friends Cod3x2877 . Beautiful weather.BE AWARE- there is a brown snake guarding this one that gave us a bit of a scare and a change of under wear !!

On my way back from Corowa after getting a new headlight on my truck.
What a clever cache container, I had to look twice before grabbing this one, GZ was spot on

Easy find one a quick stop as I head over the border. Log was very wet and could not write on it so popped a new one in there in a bag.

Pulled over for a quick find on my way to NSW via the 'new' bridge. All in good condition and log signed. TFTC Jamin Appleford
I have lived all my life firmly south of the line. Australian Rules is king.
I did not know of this marker at gz.

Called in on our way to the Rutherglen Mega on Wednesday the 5th April and found this cache but only just getting around to logging these guys, thanks Jamin Appleford for placing . Logged as BAB6 or bushfire.
Back down south for another mega weekend!! Great to be able to visit the area again and enjoy some caching and catching up with friends. Cached with loads of different people over the weekend and checked out the local yummies. Found this one with GLISS! . Thanks to all the cache owners who set and maintained the caches. Great to have been able to add this one to my collection. Thanks for the cache.

Day 5 of the Rutherglen MEGA trip.
Out and about around town finding lots of caches.
After a couple of events and cache finds in Corowa, it was now time to head back to camp to pack up my tent but on the way I was passing by this one, so I had to stop and have a look, it wasn’t long before the log was signed.
**Thanks to Jamin Appleford for placing this cache.**

An interesting cache topic here! Toy Hunters was telling us about this cache the day before. He is a big AFL fan so was really excited by it! So we figured we better swing by and find it as well on our way to the Corowa events!
Many thanks JA

**Rutherglen Mega Day 5**
The final day for me in Rutherglen!
Crazily enough, I actually had a 7 hour work shift today back in Canberra! It was an afternoon / night shift though, so I worked out that if I leave Rutherglen by 10:30am, drove non-stop to Canberra, I would have time for a quick bite for lunch and straight into work!
This meant that I only found 5 caches this morning. Two trads, an Earthcache, an event and a CITO.
Thank you to all the CO's for today's cache finds!
Many thanks JA

Time to leave Rutherglen.
Our aim today was to reach Canberra, pick up a LGA at Albury, attend the event and CITO and anything else we could in between.
Today caching and travelling with RoddyC.

After our three days in Rutherglen, we are heading back to Canberra.
Time to spare before a couple of events in Corowa, so we came here and were rewarded with a quick find. I wondered why these strange posts were here.
Log signed and cache replaced as found at 8:05 am on 11 April 2023. TFTC, Jamin Appleford

I had been given a nights accommodation with a couple of the Canberra boys, Loci and Seb. It was a fun night and I feel asleep in front of the fire. We woke in the morning to grab a couple of local caches before we hit town. the boys were off to ride the bike trail. I meet up with James and we went off and did a couple of labs and caches to the south and east. We all grouped up after lunch and raced around grabbing a few of the remaining caches in town before Seb and I headed towards Canberra.
It was a really long day and for some reason we kept missing the food stops but got in the cache stops. A few tree climbs a few unusual stops and we finally got to Canberra by 9pm. Thanks for a great day to my caching buddies and to the CO’s for the variety of hides.

The Barassi Line! Being born a New South Welshman and now an adopted Victorian living with a Queenslander I have long known that there is a definite preference for one code or another in different states and now I have not only historical backing but a funny name to go with it. The Queenslander and I had a hearty laugh about this one and the giant goal posts just added to our mirth. Thank you for bringing us here JA. You've made our day!

Found it after wishing the search. Nice hide, just not where we expected
Thanks

Post MEGA post final run after the CITO and now heading south. Always super to learn something given I'd never heard of the "LINE" despite being a fan of good ol' Brassi in the day. TFTC and the info!
The JAMS team (JJ52 allister w, mogni and sir_spectre) were on a road trip heading to the Rutherglen Mega event (staying in Corowa) for 3 days then winding our way home via Albury, Wangaratta, Bendigo and various other places in between. It was a great week with many more caches found than we expected. There were targeted caches, challenge caches, Ad Labs, events and various others to fulfill various statistics for the four of us. We were lucky with the weather, it rained a bit on our way over on Friday, then half a day after we left Wangaratta but on the whole it was great caching weather. We did drive a few slippery muddy roads, but nothing too bad. We also caught up with lots of people either at events or out in the field and enjoyed many great chats. All in all a fun time with lots of Victoria explored and then very tired when I arrived home. [^]
Quick find at GZ.
Thanks for the cache Jamin Appleford.

Stamped as JAMS - JJ52, alllister w, mogni, sir_spectre. All of these teams are from South Australia and after some major planning we managed to find approx 700 caches while being away for a week. Also qualifiied for a variety of challenges, found LGA's and had lots of laughs. Found while attending the Victorian Mega in Rutherglen.
Thanks
Thanks
Day Four: Around Albury and Rutherglen again
Weather: At last, it doesn’t look like it could rain at any second.
Stuck with a choice of either of these two codes, I think I’d rather go geocaching. If not for this geocache, I don’t think I’d have noticed the goalposts - there’s a lot of signage to take in here. Not a hard find here - the cache is still warm from the last team, driving off as I arrived.
Thanks for pointing out this quirky plaque Jamin Appleford.
It’s officially a mega!

SueHut and I are zipping over to meet team DesHut at The Big Brolga, to find some of the meagre collection of puzzles I've solved so far. But how could a Carlton supporter possibly drive past a cache honouring Ron Barassi?
Thanks heaps, Jamin Appleford!

Well it is finally time for The Rutherglen Mega and I was able to take a couple of extra days off work and come up early so I could get the most out of the Easter break.
After 4 big days and evenings the Mega is semi over as it has all been pack up.
A couple of events today as well as a few randoms and also chasing the clues for the FTF series so I can do them after lunch.
I have lost my caching buddy GemmaSistema as she had to head back home so I’m riding solo in this morning.
Day 5 and I’m heading off in all directions but I’m also heading back to Corowa to call in at the Whiskey factory to pay it a visit.
After making it back to the Mega site for lunch I then teamed up with Roaming Howie and OzHockeyChick to tackle the FTF series and any other random caches that we came across.
Thanks for the history lesson as I had not heard about the Barassi line before.
I didn’t notice the goal posts till I stopped at this cache and looked around.
Thanks Jamin Appleford TFTC.

Funny how you can drive past this area and not notice the goal posts. Have always been a fan of the great Ronald Barassi and was interested in the history of the Line.

quick find.
Found with JAMS (( JJ52, Allister w, Mogni, plus sir_spectre ) Mitchell&hound wasn't with us this trip) crew. All logs stamped as JAMS to save log space. This trip we are off to the Rutherglen Mega and then slowly coming back to S.A. for a total of 8 dys and 7 nights. The targets of this trip are for JJ52 to get 11 more multi to get to 1000 multi's and a few more Victorian LGA's, Allister W was targeting 17 virtuals ( or as many as he could get ) a few more Victorian LGA's Mogni to make the Rutherglen Mega her 20, 000 find and also for her to complete all Victoria LGA's, sir_spectre needs 1 more multi to get to 1000 multi's and get his Victoria LGS's down to 2 LGA's left. We got 20 or more finds in a LGA if we stayed in there over night. We also detoured to stamp any challenge caches that we were " in the general area off " and to complete that challenge before we came back to S.A. This meant that some times dirt road (s) had to be walked down because they were to wet to drive down and/or haven't been repaired since last years flooding. We started off the holiday in the rain and then that cleared up only to start raining and a overnight thunder storm but most of the trip was dry. Over 600 caches found for the trip including over 120 lab stages in that total. Got to complete the GPS Maze at the Rutherglen Mega for a 2nd time. Allister w was the team driver for all of the Victorian part of the trip. I think this was the first trip ever to Victoria that the extension pole didn't get used but the 6.2 meter ladder did get a work out.

Sydney can make claim to Ron Barassi for his work in developing AFL. in NSW. Nice stop and great find.
Found with PapaGrouch. We have driven past this spot a few times while going to and from our accommodation in Corowa to the mega in Rutherglen. It seemed silly not to stop and pick up the cache. I hadn't noticed the goal posts beside the road until we were stopping here and I read the information board. I actually met Ron Barassi once in passing, as we were having dinner in the same restaurant. TFTC

Arrive to find two teams of cachers, talking to a local.
So we quickly sign the cache, and followed on of the teams though the mud to the next cache.
To save time and to not take up room on the logs we sometimes signed as GDS+M
Gwd.aussie = G , D@geo = D , Sharon14 = S , and Mezza74 = M
And other times with sign with our normal or shorted caching names.

Out and about the Indigo Shire region. Another variety of AdLabs, a virtual, a couple of events, puzzles and wherigos.

The rain held off for the most part while we were out of the car.

Very happy to be heading to another Mega and this year we took leave the day before and after Easter to make it much more relaxing and enjoyable. Have to do that next Mega as well.
After arriving at midday and checking in to the accommodation we headed out to start on these WhereIGos and most were found ok but a few seemed to be a little bit out but we still had great fun and no DNF's which was a huge bonus. These roads were nice and quiet too with barely a car ever.
After a few streets of WhereIGOs we then made our way towards the dinner event and stopped at a few caches along the way and this was one of them.
Thanks Jamin Appleford for the cache, the adventure, the hunt and the fun.

Off to the Mega with Spiffy- and many others. All caches have been presolved in the 14 month lead up and other interesting caches flagged for collection to assist with various challenges or just because they looked fun!
Today was random day collecting puzzle art and whereigos. Loved the containers.
Thanks to Jamin Appleford for the fun and the adventure.
