Wow! First event. What a buzz.
Spent the day with my big geo-sis, my geo-cuz and my geo-Dad for Father’s Day. Perfect, beautiful, sunshiney day. Wattles were flowering their little yellow pom-poms off their branches, which was very appropriate as we were team ‘Wattle & Throttle’.
We managed to compete without throttling each other so that was a bonus. We were proud to attain the heights of success with the position of third last. Lol. We decided it was all about participation and fun. Yes. Success is overrated. LMAO!
We’ve got the fire in our belly for next year.
Thank you very much for all the work that went into planning, organising and executing such a great event. You made our Father’s Day the best one yet. We have officially cleared our calendars for the foreseeable future for this event.

I was there.
Thankyou to everyone for turning up. I'm glad the experiences were mostly all positive.
A massive massive thankyou to ilukaperi for all her help in setting this up. It would not have gone off as well as it did without her and her organizational skills (which are vastly superior to mine).
Definitely doing this again next year.

While we decided not to participate we did come along to support those that were and to find out what it was all about. Looks like alot of fun and hopefully will join in if the CO decides to hold again
Thanks day1976 for the cache.

A fun experience helping day1976 organise this event, we got to go out exploring different areas in search of places to hide different cache types.

Another epic event with some fun tracks taken to weave thru to random spots in the XV. Nearly broke the leg during a jog back to the car while try to skip over a muddy section, cheers from another team means only my pride was bruised. Got back with 5mins to spare and in all "The Boys" came 2nd 4 points short off the grand prize. Congratulations to the winners. A fun day.

Happy father's day!
Cheers for the event.

Saw this one on the radar, but knew it would be a busy day been dads taxi and other things happening, but had the opportunity to drop by for an hour. Strange knowing that there are a lot of people at the event, but only a handful at the event. Hope it all went well. TFTE
Had an awesome time with our team of 4! We did a nice mix of easy ones, fun multis, gadgets (love them and hate them) and even a tree climb. 4 hours goes soooooo quickly though, except for the last minute muggle addition to the team that didn’t get coffee or breakfast this morning before she came, for her it felt like 4 days ?? ????
Thanks for the huuuuuge amount of work that went into it ?? and congratulations to whoever wins the trophy ??
Thank you thank you thank you day1976 Can’t wait for next year hint hint ??

Awesomeness!!
What a fantastic day.
Well attended and we had so much fun.
A big round of applause for the Kelly gang members , Kelly of “Paul&Kelly” (Navigator and puzzle solver) and Kirsten “OzHockeyChick”, (Puzzle solver and backup navigator)
We came in 3rd overall.
We’ll be back next year to see if we can get another part to build a car.
Thanks for the event.

Fabulous day, thoroughly enjoyed the event. The weather was perfect and appreciated the effort gone into making such an awesome event! Also enjoyed meeting other caches whose logs I have read over the past few years! Thank you ??
A big thanks to Crustyvarmint too for his company in the challenge, many laughs were shared!

This was so much fun, and we can't imagine how much work went into setting it all up! Thank you day1976! Our favourites were the gadgets and a balancing act on a log. The range of checkpoints were here was absolutely fantastic. Looking forward to another one.
Our first show and shine event.
3 generations in our car today enjoyed this special Father’s Day event.
Our travels took us far and wide with many exciting adventures along the way.
We met many new people today and felt quite at home.
The planning to achieve this event must have been mammoth and all for our enjoyment.
Thanks so much for all your efforts.
Put us down for next year. ????

What a wonderful day we had! The weather started a bit showery, but cleared by the time we got to the starting point for this event.
We arrived in good time to start on time and use the facilities before setting out. We chose mostly high value caches to search for but wasted too much time at Eagle Rock before giving up and moving on. At another our ladder wasn’t tall enough and at a third a combination of inexperience of The_Evil_Muggle with my finding device, poor satellite coverage under the tall trees and some cloud cover meant it was a DNF. The rest we found were of the usual excellent standard for this event.
We’re so looking forward to next year’s event. Thanks Day and Iluka for another wonderful day!

What a day, As they say, second place is the first... Anyway, had a fantastic day on the road with sedgwickDave, analyzing the map and hopefully coming up with a winning formula. Not quite but had a load of fun trying. Congrats to Steve and Mark on their win.
Dave and I did a bit of an analysis on our course and worked out our mistake. A 1.9km round trip on foot for one of the checkpoints certainly didn't help. Will know better next time.
Many thanks to @day1976 and @ilukaperi for the tremendous amount of work that has obviously gone in to creating this event. A success once again.
Big things are continuing to happen! *Are you joining the fun again in 2019?*

Teamed up with (Mark&)Kelly & Riddell today as The Kelly Gang. A four hour adventure tearing around the back tracks of Emerald, Gembrook, Powelltown, Gladysdale, and as far south as Pakenham Upper and back to Cardinia.
Thoroughly enjoyed the fun and laughs. Great teamwork!
Great to catch up with geo-friends, before and after too.
I think we all appreciate all the hard work and effort that has gone into this event, and hope to see many more in years to come.
Cheers day1976 (& Ilukaperi)

With a late start it gave us time to check that we had all the 'tools of the trade' for whatever we may need. With no knowledge of the Difficulty or Terrain of each cache we packed everything!! Ok, maybe not everything, the budgie smugglers were not going to make an appearance so we decided on packing the kayak instead.
Teaming up with Riddell and OzHockeyChick we headed back to the car after receiving our paperwork to work out a plan of attack. Our plan was to aim for the big point ones and we circled them on our map but they were all so spread out, so we picked out an area with the most and found a workable route. We hit the road targeting the furthest one which was in Powelltown and planned to make our way down to Upper Pakenham via Gladysdale, Beenak and Cockatoo. We travelled made roads and dirt tracks, climbed trees and hiked up hills, all in the beautiful spring sunshine.
Four hours went so quickly and we would have loved another hour to be able to get to the gadget caches, but we had a ball racing from one cache to another and finding the codes required........except for Eagle Rock, dam those rock wall caches!!!
Thank you day1976 and ilukaperi for the time you have put into this event. Coming third in the race was a bonus and we are looking forward to next year's Show & Shine.

Only my second Show And Shine, and once again, I head a heap of fun. From the uncontrollable giggles in the car, meeting/catching up with other caching people and the plotting and planning to get it all done. It was an amazing day.
Thank you for the amazing day. Can't wait to do this all over again.

What a fantastic day. Not knowing what to expect, we packed the Red Rattler with everything we could think of, except budgie smugglers, which I am proud to say, Steve doesn’t own. From tree climbing, a multi, gadgets and a visual, the amount of effort that was put into this event was amazing.
It was great to meet some other cachers too. Lovely friendly group of people.
Huge thank you to day1976 and Iluka for organising this event, and we’ll be back next year for sure.

It was a bit of an overcast morning to start the day, we gathered at the shelter of a bit of a chat awaiting our start time.
The time arrived, we received our paperwork and it was time to go.
The day heated up when the sun came out as we made our way from one location to another collecting codes as we went.
From fast bitumen roads to very slow, muddy, rutted tracks on we went as the time was ticking down.
Eventually our time was coming to an end, had we found enough, only time will tell.
This is my first Show & Shine event and I must say it was a blast, what a great day we had so a big thanks to Day & ilukaperi for the amount of work and effort that must have gone into setting the event up.
I'll be back next year.

We came for the 930 time slot to go on an adventure and an adventure was had for sure laughing so hard we cried , These Divas know how to party Mr Bear was busy doing stuff all back at base cooking up sausages for the crew , I think maybe next year we may need a bigger bbq and a few more snags Thanx Day and the team for being this event back definitely a lot of fun
What a fantastic way to spend Father’s Day, Wattle Day and the first day of Spring. This was our first Geo-Vehicle Show and Shine and we cannot wait for the next time! Though Team ‘Wattle and Throttle’ came in 3rd last we had a best time! Thanks for joining me Dad, ASP84 & CGBH. No doubt today took a huge amount of time and effort so a massive thank you to day1976.
As I sit here writing this log, 3 or so hours after getting home from the event, it is pouring with rain and the temperature has turned cold. We were soooo lucky to have wonderful sunny Spring weather to complete the event in this morning. Good work on organizing that, Day & Iluka. Perfectly timed!!
Well, The Rustys made a very rare appearance as a complete family unit for this event. I must have marketed it well when asking if they would join me, clearly avoiding any mention of the G word and putting lots more emphasis on the words CAR and RALLY.
Mr Rusty put his hand up to be in control of The Lawnmower, which I was grateful for, as we all know I’m not the worlds most fabulous driver when it comes to hills, gravel, hills with gravel and any other combination of those words. In fact, when I rang Day during the event, his first words when answering the phone were “Do I need to come and tow you out?”. I obviously have a reputation. I’m sure Mr Rusty only heard the word RALLY when I told him about today. He threw the poor Lawnmower almost sideways around gravel corners, broke the land speed record through the back blocks of Silvan and almost had us lose all our teeth flying over corrugations.
We visited Belgrave, Kallista, Kalorama, Silvan, Monbulk, Emerald, Upper Beaconsfield and Cardinia Reservoir. We visited a wide variety of cache types which made it really interesting. We focused more on family fun and involvement rather than long drives for more points. We got off to a rocky start, but once we found our groove and started working together better, the kids enjoyed being able to actively take part in fun stuff such as a tree climb, whereigo and “walking the plank”.
As we drove away from the event we all agreed that we had had a really enjoyable morning. Don’t tell them that I’d rather do it with more adventurous people next year though!!
Thanks a million to Day and Iluka for taking the time to set all this up (and go and collect it all again afterwards). If I had the option to give this a fave point, I would.
Really nice to meet some cachers that I can now put faces to names. See you all in November at the Mega!

Boy, today was a whirlwind, left home early and into South Melbourne for my godsons swimming championships, out to Cardinia for a visit at Show & Shine, back to Altona for a CITO and then home to Croydon for a rest and maybe a nap.
Sadly today I could not compete as there is not enough time in the day but I had to attend because this is one of the best events on the calendar, I'll hopefully be back next year!

This was Steve's and my first attendance at a Geo-vehicle, Show Shine event. The day dawned overcast and chilly but the sun came out briefly before the Heavens opened up, as forecast, about five minutes after I arrived home. We didn't know what to expect, so followed the instructions on the cache page to the letter. A stroke of luck on a bush track whereby a fallen tree, which would have forced us to turn around, had been cut only minutes earlier for a 4WDer.
13 out of 25 waypoints found and no DNF's made for an enjoyable experience. The gadget caches were inventive, but not too difficult.
My thanks to both Day and his assistant, ilukaperi for the enormous amount of work they put in preparing this event.
Our first place really was the icing on the cake.

Well we rocked up after GeogirlJaz11's footy grand final loss. We set off at 12:05 with less time than everyone else due to us being late. Lissy78 joined us. We had so much fun, absolutely love the concept and so so appreciate the efforts put in to set this Car Rally up. We arrived at the finish at 3:28, pretty stoked that we had timed it perfectly. Unfortunately i didnt listen to Day's instructions properly and thought our cut off time was 3:30 but it in fact was 3pm. Sorry to make yas wait around for us. Cannot thank you both enough for creating this event.
Got here nobody else is around oh no wrong day. Sorry got dates wrong so can't attend my apologies

The all-great day1976 always needs his caching partner around, as we all know how organised he is. I will be there assisting him to ensure the event goes smoothly! Although I haven't attended one of his car rallys before, I am sure it will be heaps of fun.
Really want to attend but will need to work out dates, ect. If we come we'll bring the Suby due to it being sorta "rally" car.
I wouldn't normally take it off road but I reckon we could do it this one time.

Of course we'll be there. Car will be a Nissan XTrail, not sure which one yet. About 10am starting time, not too early, not too late, just right! WE love these events.Other information will be supplied after discussion with The _Evil_Muggle.
Currently we've room to two others.
