Out and about scooping up some odds and sods of caches - this is one i hadn't quite got to previously. Nice and quiet track despite being near civilisation so had plenty of time to hunt around. GPS was jumping around a lot but at the GZ i really struggled to narrow it down. For some reason there was a spoon (yep spoon) in the ground, right where i thought it might be - short of digging up the whole area i couldn't find it. Will keep an eye out, no doubt me being a muppet!! TFTC.

Thanks e^up. I always laugh, sometimes frustratedly, at the "quick/easy find" note, especially when I spend 30min+ looking. I can honestly say this is a quick and easy find.

Find #11185

While doing a cache maintenance run in the area, I decided on a detour to find this one.

After living in the area and walking the tracks for so many years it's always a pleasant surprise when I visit a new track, so thank you for that.

Cache was quickly found, first place I checked.

Thanks to -e^ip for the cache.

Big things are continuing to happen! *Are you joining the fun again in 2021?*

I live at the bottom of this hill and I walk along the track below all of the time, never coming up this little extra way. I think it’s time for me to check out more of the tracks this way.
Thanks heaps for placing

A quick park, small walk and hide after (unsuccessfully) looking for wall art up in Sassafras - I missed a Mount Dandenong cache hunt and this was the first of what turned out to be a reasonable run of finds up here. tftc

This is just around the corner from work, and so after I finished, I headed over. A fairly quick find, although my GPS has been playing up lately and directed me 10m away to a different tree, but I worked it out in the end.

'Oh Deer'

FTF @ 12.01am

It had been a crazy week...
Hundreds of urban kilometers travelled each day in the course of normal errands and commitments. My car was accumulating the piled up sin of repeated fast food.
And so it was, after a session of paternal acrobatics, that I found myself en route to yet another late night commitment requiring a trip from one end of Eastlink to the other. It was now after 11pm and I finally got to stop for some dinner (more sin!). As I munched and masticated in Forest Hills, I discovered a new cache had been listed up in Olinda only an hour or two before. And as I gazed through the windscreen to the east, the lights of Burke's Lookout could be seen twinkling in the distance, and the faint cry of a neglected blank logbook seemingly called to me...
I looked at my watch and considered my impending commitment, and reminiscent of Mr Incredible encountering a crime on his way to his wedding with ElastaGirl, I uttered those famous words of optimism - "Yeah. I've got time"!

So twenty minutes later was parking the WelderMobile at the scene. All was quiet on this beautiful street, aside from a few surprised deer who had been frolicking in front yards.
It was so peaceful. Not a breath of wind. Even the stars were sparkling majestically in a cloudless sky above me. Without wanting to disturb the serenity which enveloped me, I ventured down the barely perceptible trail in darkness. A shuffling noise was heard just ahead of me. I lit my torch to reveal two more deer, who then sauntered off down the slope, a little put out by my intrusion. I flicked off the torch again and took a moment to appreciate the countless urban lights sprawled out below, shining between the trunks of giant trees.
I continued on through the darkness and about half way to GZ I heard another similar noise and illuminated three more deer who retreated down the track and disappeared deeper into the gloom.
It was wonderful to see so many of these gorgeous creatures.
I spied GZ and began my search. It was somewhat of a challenge to silently traverse the slope over dry bark and sticks, but my inner ninja was in form.
Unfortunately, my geo-sense wasn't so in tune! I wasted about 10 minutes ninja-ing (is that even a word?!) around the wrong feature!! But as soon as I adjusted my mark, it was a swift discovery. I soothed the blank logbook with some red ink and souvenired the thoughtful token before replacing the cache in its cosy hide.

I returned to the WelderMobile in the same manner as I arrived - in darkness - savouring how this unexpected sojourn had been a rather special tonic for my soul. A much needed dose of magic and serenity amid my crazy schedule, seemingly a million miles from anywhere and beyond the reach of clocks...
Oh no!!
My commitment!!
I glanced at the time. Darn! My fruitless ninja-ing (it's a word now!! Lol.) had cost me. I was going to be late. But I had no regrets. Like Mr Incredible, I'd made a decision for the greater good, and I'd been rewarded with a magical experience, or should I say, a "super" experience?!
My reflection was underlined by two more beautiful deer playfully prancing and bounding in my headlights as I eased the WelderMobile back on to the road, and back into busyness of life.
Thanks -e^ip. I'm sure this would be a beautiful place in daylight, but in the night amid the deer, it's very special indeed.
I loved coming here!

According to my SatNav I was 10 minutes away from this geocache when The Welders log came thru. He beat me again. As such, I stopped the car and then re-programmed the SatNav for the caches that I wanted to target for tonight. After finishing finding the caches that I wanted, I drove towards this one.
Driving down the last road, I followed 2 running deers all the way down to end of the road, then they ducked into the bushes at the end. Parking the car, I then strolled along the paths and found the cache in the obvious hide. Signed as STF at 4 am this morning
Thanks for the cache -e^ip
