Found today while in the area and we qualify with 131 VC’s to this point. TFTC
We qualify for this challenge with 62 virtual finds according to Projest-GC and 63 for my statistics as we achieved one this morning at Purakanui Falls. Drove to the end of the road and found the cache after a short search.
Yes we were quackers today, as we drove way out here on unsealed back roads to pick up a couple of caches including this challenge, with a filthy car to show for it afterwards haha. GZ was all quiet at the time of our visit and we had no difficulty locating the cache thanks to good coords and hint. The weather was beginning to deteriorate and we just had one more we wanted to find in the area before heading home. Thanks for the challenge and cache, Natalie247.

We found this cache a few days ago on a visit to the Catlins. Waited to log when we got back on line again in order to check if we qualified, which we did! Definitely off the normal tourist route this one. Found with no problems. Many thanks for placing.
In the area doing the Penguin AdLab, and heading down to Invercargill for the night, to go over to Stewart Island to complete the PWGT... So close, I might as well detour slightly and grab this! Nice views from GZ too.

What a fantastic location for GZ, views in all directions. A quacking cache!

Seems like 96 virtuals for me, according to what KR told me as we sit logging today's haul from Newhaven to Invercargill. I liked the nearby good looking Herefords. They are a particularly favorite breed of mine as I grew up on a UK share milking farm where the Hereford bull was Sir Douglas. The rusting implement is a little gem. Labelled 'Bamfords', (that's Joseph Cyril, of Uttoxeter), a company we now know as JCB! Thanks Natalie247
A nice quick find. I have currently have > 180 virtual finds. They sneak up on you! Thanks for placing your cache.
Ms_KR and I are off on a wee drive to Invercargill and back. Today we made it to Invercargill under overcast skies most of the day
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

On a tour of the area. This was one of my target caches. I have 31 virtual caches. All good with the cache. Thanks.
We are travelling through the Catlins area for the first time today, so stopped by to collect this challenge cache. To date we have found 89 virtuals in NZ and 31 overseas. TFTCC.
According to Project-GC I have found 82 virtual caches. This will turn into 83 by the end of the day. On the hill between the intersection and here there was a temporary looking hanger with a plane parked under it. That is an interesting object that the cache is hiding under. Thanks for placing the cache.
Found - Mrs McMike2012 & I now live full-time in our caravan & travel the country visiting places we want to visit … we are now parked up at the DOC Papatowai campsite for a couple of days, exploring in & around the area … we went for a bit of a drive today to check out some waterfalls, secluded bays & historical sites … this was just a random drive-by cache, although we had to go right of our way to get it, such is the life of a ‘cacher’ … to qualify for this cache, I believe that our current tally stands at 71 x ‘found Virtual Caches’ … found the actual cache with no issues, log completed & cache returned … pleased to add another 'smiley face' to the tally … TFTC ... TN:LN:SL ... #2,160 for us.
Nice quick find as Mr P and I were out collecting caches on this area:

I now qualify to go and sign log for this one. Even though when checked on geocheck it says only 14 found, it has it yet updated it to the 15 needed as I logged steampunk this morning.
So next time I'm in the area will get it

#20718. Funnily enough I have also found 95 virtuals. We enjoyed exploring this corner of the Catlins. This one wasn't too hard to find. Then it was time to start heading back towards the main road. TFTC.
Found with StreetWalkerNZ as we travel from Dunedin to Invercargill.
Worth the detour for a challenge cache. I have 95 virtual cache finds now (found 2 on our southern trip) so easily qualify. Certainly the virtual rewards have made much more available.
Managed to miss the cache, but SW was more thorough and found the cache where I had just looked . Thanks for the challenge and TFTC.

A quick find here and thankfully it’s quiet. I always wonder what my response would be if we got rumbled down one of these quiet roads. I guess you just have to own up to what you are doing, anything else seems a bit strange.
Hasn’t happened yet though, and all good today. I didn’t need to check if I qualified as I signed a virtual recently that needed 50 virtual finds. So it’s comfortable, and posted below. TFTC natalie247. Fave from me.

23 October 2021 13:19 Thought I had put my qualifying details in as a note before I left home... have to wait until have proper I internet again to see if I saved the offline log first. MacPacDad grumbled all the way about the places I take him geocaching and who would place a cache at the end of a road like this but I'm happy to quack about this smilie on my map. TFTC Natalie247. Qualification now added.
Qualify to go find this cache... just with 16 Virtuals, hopefully will pick up a couple more with our week in The Catlins.

It is strongly recommend that whilst we go for a walk for exercise, we need to take care on shared surfaces and geocaching should not be done at this time; https://wiki.groundspeak.com/display/GEO/New+Zealand
To remove temptation, I am disabling this cache and ask kindly that you do not find this cache during lockdown.
Remember there is more than physically finding a cache, there are plenty of puzzle caches you can do at home. Or if you live near a multi you can walk the trail and save the find for another day. For more info or connect with wider community see Geocaching New Zealand on Facebook.

We had worked out a route through the Catlins, and after finding a geotour cache we had hoped to find a couple of others in the Purakanui Falls area. Unfortunately we came to a sign that said ‘No wide vehicles past this point’. As we’re driving a 2.5m wide motorhome and towing a small van on an A-frame, we weren’t willing to risk it, and didn’t have time to make the required detour today. Disappointing, but we hope to be back sometime in the future!
PS we do qualify for this challenge, having found 22 virtuals to date.

An early morning call from my parents and a suggestion for a road trip to give my mother an outing now she is feeling a little better after her second round of treatment.
So as the chauffeur I put on my hat and prepared the limo.
With my co-driver in the passenger seat and my parents in the back we asked where to ???.
The suggestion was let's head east so , do we headed out to the cost and visited many of the places my parents spent there younger years caravaning .
As we went past here the call went up STOP and the cache was soon in hand , paperwork competed and returned to hide and we where on our way .
I was told there was another in the area so off we went.
A great morning for a drive on a rainy day but good to get out and about .
And yes I'm completely quackers.
I check how quackers on project G C and yes I'm 100% quackers so I signed the log .
I have loged 30 Virtual caches to date .

A weekend down South with Gadget169. After the nearby Purakanui Falls virtual completed I now qualify for this challenge with 15 virtuals yay! A nice quick find and onto the next cache off the beaten track! TFTC
I easily qualify for this with 177 virtual finds - some of these have been quite amazing. I used to go out of my way to find them before the new more recent releases. I still have several to go to find all the ones on Otago and Southland though. I found a pile of stones where I thought this should be but no cache. More searching all round and still no cache. One last look in the obvious place and I was very relieved to get my hands on it as it had waddled off a bit. TFTC # 15,456

So much for the statistics. I knew I would qualify for this cache, not really difficult for a European cacher, so I felt compelled to do this one and especially designed a scenic route to get here. The ‘quacking’ which had me puzzles, was resolved quackly .

On an awesome adventure with KGS in the Catlins today! It involved a 36km detour in each direction, but we had a great time and found lots of caches in spite of suboptimal coffee supply. We both love virtuals so qualifying for this challenge was a breeze! TFTC!!

Picked up my 15th this lunchtime in Dunedin so I could clear up this one. Have to be qwackers to drive over all this gravel.
Thanks for the chance to get another Challenge cache. Seems that I qualified for this one some time thanks to all the ones I have done overseas.
Met up with KCN in Dunedin, and making our way back to Invercargill over the next few days. Mostly picking up gaps in her finds here in the Caitlins leaving others for me to get another day.
When this was published a day or so ago I only had 13. Could I get another 1 this trip? Of course... And made it 3 by the time we got here, so currently sitting at 16 (not 21 as indicated in another log. Opps. Got my targets mixed up!)
A quick find in this out if the way pkace. Cache is fine (as you would expect after just 2 finds) but did notice that Mr Quack has had a run in with something! He's missing a few feathers.
Thanks for the smilie Natalie247.

We targeted this cache this morning, part of a group of three in the area. Quackers are sorta kool, and our two were pretty excited on the road (see photo). Made it to GZ, spotted a kool object, then thought how to get to it through the puddles and mud. Not to be deterred, mrs had cache in hand, before mr had car turned around. Signed log, took another photo, checked if any other signer had qualified (nup, ftf for mr’n’mrs). Onward to Owaka. Thanks for the challenge cache smiley.
