Went there with Cyclicalcaching today, area all fenced off.

Thanks for the code word!

As with everyone else lately, we’re here to get this to her cash and there’s big fences put up for some sort of construction.

I have taken a photo of the area so that we can claim the code word.

Thanks!

Paddle Chick and I are on a mad mission to complete the Auckland, Northland and Coromandel TMGT caches before the time limit expires. We already knew this would be inaccessible before we left home. Wandered over from your H.M.B. Endeavour cache to here and took a photo as proof of our visit. TFTC # 18,361

We knew we wouldnt be able to find the actual cache here, so came prepared to take photos of our visit. Unfortunately we arrived in Whitianga after dark and were back on the road at 6 am so didnt get to see much although we did manage to find a few night caches after dark. Thanks for your contributions to the geotour

(# 7128) A flying visit up north by flying into Hamilton and then hitting the road up to the Coromandel primarily to get some geotour caches. Logged with permission of the CO. Thanks for bringing me here.

We arrived in town this afternoon. Checked in and then went hunting the Geotour caches. I used to catch the ferry here in the 1960’s. I also used to swim across as a kid in a race they held on New Year’s Day. Fun memories. The marina work is all completed now. Plenty of cache hiding options abound. Logged with permission. TFTC

We have no idea when will get to Whitianga to do something about this cache. As it is part of the TMGT we are unable to archive it. If finders email the owner we will give the code word, so you can continue with the trail.

Logging with permission, there is still construction site. Tftc

Auckland borders are still closed. We are unable to travel to do anything about this cache.
We don't know if the area is still blocked off. As it is part of the GeoTour we are unable to archive it either. Please just contact us for the Code-Word.

Logging with permission. In Whitianga for a couple of nights getting getour caches. Was only meant to be 1 night then into Auckland for the Mega. This is where we deviate from the original itinerary and now we are heading for Rotorua, Taupo and scooting around the Level 3 part of Waikato to get back on schedule in New Plymouth on Tuesday (now Monday)! Then heading down to Wellington and back to the Mainland.

Malinkaly and I planned a road trip to go to the MEGA but Covid has postponed the event again. We decided to continue on with our planned journey making adjustments as we go with the ever-changing travel restrictions.
Greetings from Dunedin!
Thanks for the cache, Darby&Joan

Logging with permission from CO. Such a nice harbour although a bit blustery today

#9756. Logging with permission. The CO contacted me recently after they saw my message about the cache site being destroyed by a digger. They gave me approval to log the find as it is no longer possible to access the cache. Its likely to be buried under a couple of tonnes of broken concrete rubble. Enjoyed visiting Whitianga over Queens Birthday weekend. I have stayed here several times in my childhood and remember catching sprats off the nearby wharf. In later years we used Whitianga as the launching site for a number of trips out to the Mercury Islands. There are some lovely beaches in this area. Thanks for the opportunity to reflect on all these enjoyable trips of the past and the great company I had on those island explorations. Thanks Darby&Joan.

07-Jun-21
We arrived knowing this one was disabled. But being a public holiday and raining the work site was deserted. Also with low tide we could walk along the beach almost to GZ. Clambered up to the construction fence just 5m from the GZ. Sadly the whole area at GZ has been dug up by a digger and there is a pile of broken concrete and sand, and a great big trench where the cache would have been placed. I think this location is toast and you may have to rethink and hide it somewhere else. I will upload a photo. All the best GSEL.

06-Jun-21
The site is now under construction and blocked off. Please future finders just contact us and we will give permission to log and give the code word. Sorry for the inconvenience.

06-Jun-21
Logging with permission from CO. Thanks Darby&Joan. Fingers crossed they dont dig up that bit.

03-Jun-21
Like previous logger GZ is still fenced off with construction fence and site hazard signs. Will send proof to CO.

30-May-21
Logging with permission. Thanks

30-May-21
This cache area is now surrounded by construction fencing and it is not possible to get to GZ., looks like it may be there awhile.
Have sent a message and photo to CO's.

This is a great place and we were down here at high tide the day of the big eartquake on the 5th of march. No risk of any tsunami here

Many thanks

Thanks very much, swapped a bracelet for a spoon. Very cute spoon, thank yerr. Stoled on our first Geocache find! Chucky and Bella Smile)

06-Jan-21
Took a good bit of stealth to make the find here. As we approached there were a couple of fishermen approaching GZ alongside so I had to step out a little to get into position. Was sat real close to GZ and took my time to have a sneaky peek before making a grab for the prize. Details noted, name added and replaced as found under the small camo item.

Day 3 of our Coromandel visit and our last full day prior to heading back towards home tomorrow. We headed out nice and early this morning with a long-winded route to the TMGTs at Whiti the city and some more great scenery. Intent was to return via 309 kauri, but that got shelved and just picked a few off at each end instead.

Our last visit to the Coromandel was over 12 years ago so it was good to be back in the area after all of that time. We had spent Christmas away in Northland, and a quiet New Year at home before a 4 day/3 night stay in Coromandel town. We explored up the West of the peninsula up to Fletchers Camp, through the middle and across to the East coast of Whitianga and Whangamata, before heading back home 'via' Waihi Beach, where sadly that lady was killed by a shark whilst swimming, RIP. We found all available TMGT options, a few Earthcaches and saw some great sites and sights. Thanks to all COs for their caches here. We didn't do nearly as many as the Seagnoid and TB dragon whose steps we followed in on some days.

Went to Whitianga for a Holiday and thought we'd do some geocaching. Was fun trying to find this geocache! Was a great hidding spot Smile

1 January 2021 17:56.

I ordered pizza, and was told there was a 25 minute wait. No problem, I have a cache to locate! Took most of the time to find this pesky little blighter, and the pizza was waiting when I got back to the shop, at which time they were telling people the wait would be over an hour!

Another fabulous spot, TFTC.

29-Dec-20
First time we tried a muggle came and sat down so had to abandon. Came back and were successful this time!

27-Dec-20
Wasn't easy took a bit of searching. TFTC

26-Dec-20
No muggles way out here!

Taybeedragon and I went on a tour of the Coromandel - one of the few places of New Zealand, especially of Te ika a Maui, that I have yet to explore throughly, and from there along the coast to Opotiki to see one of my many, many sisters. From 18 December to 5 January we found over 400 caches, including 12 adventure labs (60 caches), 20 or so TMGTs and a host of virtuals and earthcaches. And I hosted an event to see the sun come up on New Year's day - surprisingly popular given that it was at 5am. We climbed a lot of hills, saw some amazing beaches that were quite popular despite (or because of) the insane access to them, walk a lot of bush, entered and explored 8 gold mines and generally had an awesome time. However I am glad to be back, but now is the hard part, and I fear it will take just as long - logging!

25-Dec-20
Concrete slab was a bit smaller than we thought but got there in the end thank you and merry Christmas!

24-Dec-20
Came out for a couple of hours after dinner. Just had to visit Ferry Landing and another TMGT in the bag. Cheers.

Day 7 - Christmas Eve Thursday 24 December - Whitianga - Matarangi and back to Whitianga. So lets go exploring!

The Seagnoid, Zara, Toby and I are off on another geocaching escape over Xmas, this time to the mighty Coromandel, then over to Opotiki and stop off at Rotorua to return home on 5 January. Had an fabulous time exploring many wonders of our country. Rounding up over 400 caches along the way, with a few LABS, 20 odd TMGTs, virtuals and lots of interesting earth caches to keep the mind busy. Watching the sun come up on New Years Day at Mt Maunganui was spectacular. Lots of walking and even more driving. But had an awesome time. Thanks to all COs who made this adventure so special.

Good hiding spot! Thanks

Took a while as the concrete was moved... did put it back now. Left a SWAG

North Island Campervan trip Day 5

After the fantastic holiday I had a few months ago traveling around the South Island, making the most of one of those incredibly cheap campervan deals available at the time, I figured it was worth taking a week off work before the stresses of the usual holiday period to enjoy some of the delights to be found around the top of the North Island.

This would be a great chance for me to seek out some targeted caches such as the TMGT ones as well as some that would help me with my Jasmer grid, missing minutes (for a couple of challenge caches I'm working on) and any other caches that caught my eye.

Having spent last night in Whitianga, I was intending to head back down the Coromandel and make my way over to Tauranga by this evening. I wasn't sure how much help I was going to get from the weather, so made an early start to try to get as much caching done as possible before the rain hit!

This was my first cache for today. I was able to walk over to it from where I had spent the night, and I was hoping for a quick find here. Once I arrived at GZ though, my heart sunk when I realised that I might have a heck of a search through all the rocks. In the end, I was simply systematic and logical about it and finally found it after about 15minutes of searching.

I encountered no issues with this cache or it's log, which was signed and the whole lot replaced exactly as found before making my way back to the campervan to hit the road.

Thanks for setting this cache up.

Thanks took a while but got there in the end. Sounds like it was a well protected site for a pa. Pity we didn’t have time to go across and see it.
Travelling around with Kiscardi an aim is to collect all the north island TMGT cache.

26-Oct-20
Heading up the Coromandel and back down to Tauranga while on a road trip around the North Island with NZ Bozzy.

I was down in Auckland this weekend to help my son and his family move into their first house. I'd planned to join a group of cachers to do a one day blitz on the Coromandel TMGT caches. We left Auckland at 7. 30am and got back to their accommodation 12 hours later. Some beautiful sights were seen, fun had and interesting poses performed for a certain G-2 cache in Pauanui.

I visited the TMGT caravan and saw the boats when they came to the Bay of Islands. It was magnificent seeing the Endeavour and other wakas in the Bay. I was lucky to see the wakas and hear the chanting as they headed down Haruru River from our deck.

This one took a bit of a hunt but I eventually located it. More beautiful views here, TFTC Smile

25-Oct-20
Out and about at the Mega that wasn't with a group of five crazy kiwi caching chicks, Ethness, Jude_E, Nosynel, GracieGPSfun and me. We took a trip out around the Coromandel to get the TMGT caches. Find took a little longer than expected but got there in the end with team work. TFTC.

What a beautiful spot. I really need to come. This is supposed to be a Mega trip. Jude_E and I flew up from Christchurch. Ethness flew up from Wellington. The DBees and Gracie's GPS fun drove down from Northland.
Thanks Darby&Joan for creating this hide. It was find 9189 for me.

Don't give up on this one so soon -- I just found it today. The hint made me think I was looking for something bigger, but I eventually found the cache hiding under something made of the right material, but about the size of my hand. TFTC.

After overnighting n the new NZMCA Park, that confused us because it wasn't there last time, today we headed off to find the four TMGT caches and a few other new ones that have popped up since our last visit. We were a bit puzzled when we arrived at GZ. We couldn't find anything resembling the hint item. However we kept looking and eventually spotted what we were looking for. Looked like it had been pushed too far in.

Thanks for another TMGT Darby&Joan.

Called by to check on cache to find it was gone. We have replaced with same sistema container and a new rock covering it. Please make sure its covered before leaving. Thank you.

I headed for GZ knowing there was a fisherman muggle very close to where I wanted to be, but acted casual once at the edge until the hide was spotted. Then I was able to make the grab and do the signing while blocking his view.
I couldn't see a code on this one tho.
Thank's for putting this here for us to find

Do not ferret around concrete with a tyre round it as we did.
Another TMGT find, and sneakiest so far.

19-Feb-20
An important objective in today’s travels was to find some more of the TMGT caches. Came for a walk to here before dinner after checking into my accommodation in Whitianga. After reading previous logs I had some idea of where I should be looking so it was only a few minutes before I spotted it. Signed log, recorded code, thanks for the cache in a very pleasant place.

17-Feb-20
Muggle fisherman near by but after a long search found with yk83 found on 13th sorry for delay in logging trouble with WiFi.

15-Feb-20
This won was a bit eventful to find. Firstly I started rock hopping looking for a concrete slab. Once I got back on the grass a saw the slab and went for it. Just when I thought I had it, it slipped further down the hole. Then the coastguard went past and a couple of muggles turned up. So I waited for a bit and tried again. I stretched as far as I could and got it. I put a rock in the hole before I put the cache bach to prevent someone having the same issue hopefully. Thanks for the Cache. Now to was the sand off my arms.

13-Feb-20
With my dad (Hole-in-One2) and we spent quite some time looking for this one, it was high tide and there were limited options, yet we couldn quite spot it, then I suddenly spotted it and it wasnt at the level I was expecting. Had to suck it up to put my hand in there, but soon had the cache in hand.

12-Feb-20
Cool

06-Feb-20
This one was too tricky for us. A long, rock-hopping search for the concrete slab but no success today.
