Staying at Mt Gambier, we decided to visit Port MacDonnell, and Hells Sinkhole was on the way. The area here is very overgrown, and despite a decent search, neither of us could find the cache.
Been here previously, with a crowd for a previous cache. The area is much nicer to visit now.Alas I could not spot this one.. looked both before and after answering the nearby EC .Not been found for 5 months, maybe others haven't logged their dnfs?
We dropped by Hells Hole to check it out after a weekend of diving other sinkholes in the area - Little Blue, Gouldens and Kilsby. I dont know if I trust anyone enough to let them winch me down here yet. It was a nice walk and a nice sinkhole to view from a dry vantage point! Thanks for the cache!
On a long overdue caching day with the younger members of our team, and a few fun stops along the way. Haven't been here for a few years now, nice to see it's being well looked after.Very cool spot to explore. tftc
Travelling with iluvtrekking from our home state of WA on. SA caching foray. Staying in Mount Gambier for a week to grab some of the local hides. Its been sixteen years since since we were last here so enjoying the re-visit. Love the country roads caching. Thanks for the hideLNCU
We are travelling with richlink on our Annual Caravan Geocaching road trip, using geocaching as our guide. We are in Beautiful Mt Gambier for a few days, soaking up the amazing things this area has to offer. We especially love the bush, the back roads, and the wild southern seas. TFTC TT06 LNCU.
Found this one the other day with Diablo1234 while we were waiting for our next radio orienteering event to start. TFTC!
Up in the Mount for a Radio Convention and a mental heath break. Thanks for a great cache.
Log and cache very wet..Poured water out of cache but not much could do do for log. Tftc
TFTC. Had hardly any service but Happylife72 found it in the end.
No need to enter the jungle surrounds.. oh and please be mindful of snakes in this area during the warmer season.

The maintenance fairies Deanside & Astro attended. The old cache was beyond fixing and wet so replaced with new log and fresh plastic. Look for the obvious V right on GZ!!
I found the old cache here in 2018. Always a good spot to visit. Satin’s bum was cold today.
Thanks Davidwazza and clear skies from TeamAstro. ️ Cache the planet!

Given previous comments, fairy did their maintenance and cache waiting for next person to visit hell. Thanks Davidwazza for placing this cache here in this amazing place and for contributing to this great game. Happy trails, Deanside
A group of us were camping at McLennans punt and spent the day exploring the area. we introduced our friends to geocaching and they managed to spot them pretty quickly. The cache is pretty wet and looked like someone had piffed it into a bush. we have hidden it a bit better but if you have a maintenance fairy it could do with some love.

With the Airshow in full swing in our home town of Lara we planned a weekend away in Mount Gambier to get away from the craziness and noise.
Todays plans of visiting the caves in Tantanooloa where changed when we got a call this morning saying our booking was postponed due to their unavoidable closure today. That left the afternoon to find somewhere to visit with the family. This was the chosen place with the Earthcache being something that took the interest of Sims_family mum. After a warm but easy walk we were soon standing over one Hell of a hole. Thankfully the fencing looks like it would keep anyone from accidentally falling into the hole these days I imagine it wasn't always that way.
It was a fascinating place to visit. It took as a little while to find the cache as the coords took us to one place that looked like a good place to hide it but it wasn't until Sims_family mum expanded the search area she made the find.
Thank you Davidwazza for the hide

Decided we wanted to cut through the first on our way to the border, so a revisit to hells hole was in order to stretch our legs. Water just as black as last time we visited!
It was getting a bit warm when we stopped here and fortunately, there wasn't anyone else around, so were able to search uninterrupted .Not found in the first place we looked . TNLNSL.Definitely have to be keen to dive in this sinkhole .Thanks Davidwazza. We really enjoy coming across this series .
It is interesting to re-read what notes we have dictated. Some of them make it rather hard to remember what happened at the time. This is one of those but it was a memorable cache because of the location that it took us to. Thanks for the cache.
I remember visiting here about 15 years ago, pre caching. The area has changed a lot, and now well signposted. Huge hole, quite imoressive. Took 5 mins to find the container as the satlock took a while to settle. Log signed

Found with Sparrow. Quick find. TNLN. SL. I wouldn't be diving in here these days. Interesting sink hole. TFTC.
We were in Portland visiting dad (SuperPop) and with the weather looking marginally better on the weather map this side of the border we thought that we would come over here and try our luck at a few caches.
Our first visit for a cache here was back in November 2004, we can't recall the platform being there then. Our second visit was in 2010 for Satan's Bum 2.0, A random visit here in 2014 saw us place an earth cache and now another visit today for the largest cache that we have found here.
Each visit that we have had over the years has seen changing to the walk in area as well as the information provided along the way but the cave always looks spectacular.
Today in the drizzling rain we didn't stay as long as normal but we were very happy to be able to locate the cache quickly and add our name to the log before heading back to the car wondering how long it would be before we visit again..

A nice walk around the loop here today. This cache was easily found and is all good. Cluencollected
Today was another day of cleaning up new caches and a few older caches around Mount gambier area since I was last here. Even enjoyed a walk with Muff1 for some of the day. Total of 39 finds for the day.
Thanks for the cache

Bit of a walk in the heat especially as I’d parked on top of the hill. Beautiful area. Thanks

The target this australia day long weekend was 3 island caches, ladder entry in to a cave, a few tree/structure climbs, finishing mine and mogni's tradition fizzy grids, driving for 10's of km's along the coast line at various spots ( longest stretch was over 30 km's ) and a multi on a calendar day for me plus a puzzle and multi on calendar days for mogni.

Stopped by to retrieve a cache I placed under the walkway and the reviewer wouldn't publish (as I got tired of replacing my previous archived hide here) and made this find as well.
Great series I am enjoying.
Thanks Davidwazza for keeping a cache at this spectacular location

Did the loop walk and stopped for the cache. Just getting to the water would be an effort on its own let alone getting back up after a dive. Met a stumpy lizard on the way out. TFTC
Off on a slow tour from Adelaide through the Limestone Coast and inland areas to visit new places collecting little Yellow Faces.

Yet another beautiful sinkhole to visit here in the south east.

Found It!
It certainly is a hell of a hole. They've added some more signs since my visit here last year. And moved the carpark a little further away. Found the cache after a bit of looking around. Interesting spot.

Found with hevwalker, TTO16, Princess Aria and Little GoosE on a day of caching...we got this one on our way back from Port Mac to find some newly published caches. We found the cache relatively quickly...wow what a view and a drop down to the waters surface...glad they have built such a secure walkway out to have a closer look. TFTC Davidwazza
Out and about with scramping, TT016, PrincessAria1 and LittleGoose after leaving Port MacDonnell and Cape Northumberland on a cache hunt...
The area looks a lot different from when I was here before...the big pines have been cut down and the little ones have started growing...
We walked to the sinkhole and quickly found the cache before checking out the dark water...
Arriving back at the carpark...there were 2 other cars...one was the man & girl we passed along the track...the other was a policeman and an Army man...they asked if we had seen a Victorian White Toyota Hilux who broke the COVID-19 Border restrictions and had headed down this road...
We had not seen anyone on our way here...
Thanks for placing the cache for our enjoyment Davidwazza

NyssaFlutterby, wombles and co, membsec and I were on a grand adventure along the Great Ocean Road, a trip that has been planned for us for a year.
Arriving here we took a look at the “Hell Hole” before beginning our search for the cache. It took a bit of time, and we were almost ready to DNF the cache, when it was found by wombles. Log signed as QQ for all of us (NyssaFlutterby, wombles and co, membsec and I).

We are on a road trip from Melbourne to Adelaide on the Great Ocean Road (GOR). Membsec from Tassie, Nyssaflutterby, 1MinnieMoo and Wombles and Co all from Queensland. We met at the airport, late due to Jetstar’s strike (4 hours delayed for the Queenslanders) and then hit the road. We have a good selection of caches that we really want to get, so many in a short amount of time.
Day3
We signed the log book with QQ to save time and space. It took as a little while to find this one as we had the GZ closer to the path.

First to find on the 29th of November 2019.
Came out from the local cinema after watching a pretty ordinary new release movie we went and cheered ourselves up with Italian food for lunch, wandered back to the car and checked out phones.....ooh a few new caches, this was closest, off we go.
Followed a tourist camper down the track off the main road and got to the designated parking spot. Went for the nice walk and found a nice new cache.
Then went and checked the sinkhole out, wow, what a doozie. We would be interested in knowing the exit and access technique for the divers on this one, it looks well out of our comfort zone haha.
Especially with all that algae or weed on top.
Coming back down the slope we spied the camper van at the area we had pulled up, and said hi there to a couple of German tourists around the next twist in the track. Not sure if they were fellow cachers as our German ain't that good.
Thanks David for another cave cache in a spot we didn't know existed. Found, signed and replaced safe and sound as found
