24 Nov 2024 10:54am. The weather was Moderate Rain 20C 81% 1 m/s . Found with PamJ during our visit to Penola. Really interesting. Thanks scramping for your contribution to the game. *Found with [Geooh GO](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobiltal.geoohGO)*
Found with gmj3191 at this delightful place. The garden looks wonderful and it was interesting to chat to a knowledgeable volunteer here today.
Staying in Mt Gambier, we decided to take a trip to Penola. I just can not imagine coping with so many children, you would never have a minute to yourself. The cache was found very quickly at this historical gem of a place.
We are on a caravanning trip around Australia seeing the sights and finding a few caches along the way. We called into town and got the bikes out to do a bit of an explore. What a great place to visit. The cache was a nice quick find. Thanks for placing
Very nice little cache. I'm visiting Penola for a motorhome rally. I'll be here for about a week.
What a fabulous cache the history is captivating. Not for its grandeur but for its humbleness and I think when you enter can feel the warmth and love this family shared. I loved the way the information boards made you imagine living there. Every year another wall paper, my mind boggles! The locals have made this a wonderful place to visit, including the veggie/herb patch out the back. Thank you to the volunteers and GeoVenture2020, a fav from me.
13/07/2024 2:18:00 PMLong long ago (not in a galaxy far away)a had a DNF not far from here, thankfully today that was not repeated and the cache was quickly located and scurried off undercover to sign out of the rain.ThanksFind recorded using GCDroid and logged using GSAK
We stayed in Penola for a few days and wanted to find some local caches. We enjoyed walking around the historic township taking in the many heritage buildings. We enjoyed several cafes and a superb dinner at Piper's. We also met a local cacher at George the Farmer, which was fun.We love coming across the border to go on holiday and cache in South Australia. All I can say is that it is a wonder they found the privacy in a hut that small to raise 15 kids. All caches were found in excellent condition unless otherwise stated.Thank you, scramping, for this Traditional cache.
Thanks!! Nice and challenging. But we forgot a pen so we couldnt write inside of it maybe next time
Travelling with iluvtrekking from our home state of WA. This is our kind of caching - back country roads. Windy arvo and hardy any traffic. Amazing place and story. Left a new log book. Thanks for the hideLNCU
Travelling with richlink as part of our Caravan Geocaching Trip. It's moving day today, a big move... Narracoorte to Penola. Touring the area or using geocaching as our guide. Thanks for the hide. LNCU.

Found at 3:08 PM GAFF3.Fantastic to see how people lived in the early 1800's and that was the standard and was thought to be swish!Went through the national trust area and c-pprass couldn't resist from picking and purchasing some herbs for our exquisite dinner tonight Cache was found a bit exposed so placed a bit of natural camo over it.Thanks to GeocachingSA
Been wanting to come here for a while now. Took the opportunity while I got interstate friends visiting the area. Overall, the whole area is lovely.Needs new logbook/s.TFTC SL.
Aiming for Penola today. Weather started off alright but getting closer to destination it started to rain. In the next few days will reach a few targets I set myself.
15:46Heading east on our way homeward, after the fun of the Mega, we made a number of those "stretch the legs" stops, naturally close to geocaches where possible! We remember only "Ten in the bed" - what an amazing piece of history and so well maintained. Thanks to GeocachingSA for adding caches to the geo-gameboard 36641
On a two and a half week family holiday road trip to SA from Victoria.2023 was a very tough year for the plowfive team, with Mrs Plowfive experiencing some very serious health issues starting in late April. The rest of the year was spent in and of hospital (mostly in) getting treatment and finishing with an autologous stem cell transplant requiring 3 months isolation post the procedure. We are wishing for a much better 2024 and a very long remission for Mrs plowfive. So with treatment completed and Mrs plowfive feeling just well enough to travel we packed the car and headed on a road trip to some of our favourite places including Adelaide and the Limestone coast to make some great family memories. We had a great time and even managed to do a few geocaches. Thanks for the cache GeocachingSA... we had planned to come to the Geoventure2020 and even had accom booked in Milicent, but covid put an end to that. Nice to tick of one of the caches we might have done had we made it to the mega and we wouldn't have found this interesting location and story without this cache.
What a fantastic walk down history. Reading all of these historical boards was fascinating.Found with Nanton34TFTC
off on a jaunt to the south east and enjoying its beautiful scenery and experiencestoday the weather is cool and overcast so we decided to focus on driving and views from the car. maybe a winery / eatery or two?of course if i can get my muggle partner to stop for a cache i happily take the bonus!what a lovely location and interesting back story picked my way through the garden carefully for a quick findtftc GeocachingSAand bringing me to this specific spot
The garden is so beautiful in the Spring. This was a lovely place to find a cache.
Suscoe was heading to Nelson today, it was a cool start at Murray Bridge and travelling through Keith the temperature dropped to around 3 degrees. But the sun came through and it ended up a lovely later Winter’s day. Our caching destination was Penola with Adventure Labs, Multis and Traditionals on our list.
Penola is a delightful little town with interesting history around every corner.
Thanks to GeoVenture2020 for this hide in a delightful area.

Gosh what an amazing history and the story of the family, WOW. We spent a long time here looking around the gardens and the buildings. We also bought cumquats, we just love the jam I make from them, tart but tasty. SL TFTC
It was lovely to be able to look inside the cottage.
A very damp garden, slightly damp cache but all food.
Signed as ftop in red lip pencil as my pen was left in the car.
Love Petticoat Lane...

What an interesting place! It's easy to forget how tough people had it back then...the number of kids, the living conditions, the manual labour required to feed, clothe and clean the family. TFTC
Fascinating story, what a tough gig.
Thanks for placing a cache here, we probably wouldn't have visited otherwise.

Had a wonderful time walking along the lanes and streets of Penola and checking all the different cottages and buildings. Thanks for the hide.
After lakes in Mt Gambier this morning, wine tasting and a barbeque at Coonawarra for lunch it was time for some history here in Penola.
And what a great stop it was!
We walked down Petticoat Lane looking at the quaint old houses, and admiring the washing in one yard and the sheep and llama being rounded up in another. I even got to feed the llama!
A muggle driving by said "Don't miss the herb garden, behind that one."
We went inside the cottage and then through to the garden out the back. I grabbed the cache and then went exploring. The produce was so lush and tasty looking and everything was growing so well. There was every type of herb you could want here!
My muggle friends and I were impressed by this property and of course wouldn't have come here if it hadn't been for geocaching. Thanks for showing us this place. One of my friends said it was the highlight of the day for her!
Favourite point - great spot!

Found it! Someone may need to put another book in soon, however, as both are full. Awesome little garden, though, we loved walking up and down the lane!
Beautiful olde worlde charm. Fantastic spot for our 600th find. Looking forward to our weekend in Penola.
Amazing times. Would have been hard to find private space but then they were probably too busy cooking and cleaning year round. TFTC GeoVenture2020.
We found this cache today on our Mount Gambier to Penola Meander on our route to home. Thanks from D & HA B-A
