24 Nov 2024 4:58pm. The weather was Overcast Clouds 22C 67% 5 m/s . Find #9,070 for me. Found with PamJ during our stay in Millicent. We Victorians were barred from attending the Mega during the Covid period, so this is a catchup visit to Millicent and the surrounding area. Found by PamJ, with her girl looking ability. In pretty good condition although a proper log book would be nice. Thanks GeoVenture2020 for your contribution to the game. *Found with [Geooh GO](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobiltal.geoohGO)*
Found with gmj3191. This tree has extraordinary character and is a great spot for a cache. Thanks for bringing us here.
Staying in Mt Gambier, we decided to take a trip to Penola. After wandering down Petticoat Lane, we walked to this cache, which was found quickly and easily in a traditional hiding spot for this type of landscape. Great spot for a cache.
Our time away is finished, we are heading back to Portland again and using a road less traveled to break up the drive and hopefully find a few caches. We got a bit of a shock to see that we had driven into a private road so we did a u-turn and parked on the main road and wandered in following the GPSr.Red gums come in all different shapes and sizes this one certainly fits the different shape category, If only it could talk about the amount of history it has seen over it's lifetime. It took us a couple of circles before we located the cache but we are pleased to say that our name is now in the logbook and the container back where we found it.Thanks for showing us this great specimen.
13/07/2024 3:01:00 PMA nice quick find ThanksFind recorded using GCDroid and logged using GSAK
Travelling with iluvtrekking from our home state of WA. This is our kind of caching - back country roads. Windy arvo and hardy any traffic. Thanks for the hide. LNCU
Travelling with richlink as part of our Caravan Geocaching Trip. It's moving day today, a big move... Narracoorte to Penola. Touring the area or using geocaching as our guide. Thanks for the hide. LNCU.
Found at 12:20 PM GAFF1.A beautiful tree that we have come to admire. Thanks to GeocachingSA
An easy find on the way down to Penola. Staying 2 nights in Coonawarra on this trip.Spoiled for caching and wine choices.A nice walk to this one.Took 2 laps to spot this oneMany thanks geoventure20
07:07Final day on the road for us, heading homeward, after attending the Great Leap Forward Mega in Adelaide. What a great time, filled with finds, food, friendship and fun. River red gums - very special! Thanks to GeocachingSA for adding this cache to the geo-gameboard.36649
Suscoe was heading to Nelson today, it was a cool start at Murray Bridge and travelling through Keith the temperature dropped to around 3 degrees. But the sun came through and it ended up a lovely later Winter’s day. Our caching destination was Penola with Adventure Labs, Multis and Traditionals on our list.
Penola is a delightful little town with interesting history around every corner.
Thanks to GeoVenture2020 for this cache.

We love the river red gums, they are truly Australian and cannot be mistaken for anything else. Anywhere that brings us to view these is top of our list for us. SL TFTC
Hmm, the sign said private road but figured that meant the grass was okay? Quickly found the cache and bolted. TFTC GeoVenture2020.
TFTC GeocachingSA for your cache Red Gum Reserve which we found today. We have been camped at Penola d=for the past week enjoying the area and the caching. Today we decided to stay close to town and clear out the caches that we have not yet attempted. A late start and only a small radius.

No entry sign at the track entrance made us wonder....so we walked Cheers and tftc
SL at 10:45am. Daytrip out with DarthVader69 around Penola and later heading to Mt Gambier for some errands before heading home. Was met with a gorgeous wallaby here approaching GZ. Luckily, DarthVader69 got a video before it bounded back into the scrub. TFTC!
Find # 10661
Found while heading home from a SA trip with sharkiefan.
We had based ourselves in Millicent for a few days making the most of a long weekend.
We got a lot of adventure labs finished and also gained some skills with the new fishing pole. Getting about 25 caches out of trees to sign.
It was a great trip back to SA after a 2 year break (due to covid restrictions)
We gotta get back over here to explore more areas and get some more smilies.
A quick grab before leaving Penola

Staying in Penola for a couple of days and decided this was the day for caching , all in the town were found most fairly quick but one or two took a few minutes searching including this one as my GPSr indicated a spot 9m away so I followed the elephant trail to the nearest tree as others had obviously done before finding the prize where I expected in the place I had dismissed

Exploring around the Coonawarra area today, guided by the caches laid out around us .
A short walk and the cache was in hand [8].

Today was another big day with the aim of finding 11 cache types in a day, but we weren't sure how we would go as the weather in Millicent was bad, cold, wet and windy! After meeting Doctor Owl in Millicent we set off on our day and thankfully didn't get too wet and by the time we reached Penola we had sunshine and blue skies. [^]
After a long day we achieved our goal and ended the day at the Carpenter Rocks Tavern for a lovely hot meal before going back to the accommodation to get warm and dry.
Had a lovely drive/walk around Penola gathering info for the Adventure Labs and finding a few caches along the way. Really enjoyed all the old buildings along Petticoat Lane.
We left the car and walked along the track then followed the geo trail to GZ where the cache was soon found.
Thanks for the cache GeoVenture2020.

No flowers today but it wasn't too soggy for a little walk in a reserve. Especially with a cache at the end!

The great Geoventure 2020 tour....take 2...which is of course now in 2021 Once again it myself and AnyMules doing things that not many sane people would attempt. [:o)]
Day 6: Another very busy day for us as we started caching in the rain doing the wine bottle series. It dried out a little as we finished and we made our way to Penola for lunch. We attended the event and continued caching around there including some labs until it was time to go to the CITO and do some tree planting. Trees planted it was time to go for a walk do get the caches in the park but once again the rains came. Not deterred we continued caching in the rain until we had finished the wine glass, the GPS had switched to night mode and we were soaked.
* If anything was particularly interesting then there will be a comment
Here..
otherwise we found all the caches we looked for and they were in good condition.
Only one of the three goals from last year achieved. So once again trying and fill my calendar with multi-caches and complete loop 11 again this year. [^] For my third goal I will try and get my DNF numbers from over fifty to single digits. That should keep me busy again this year! [:o)]
***Thanks GeoVenture2020 for putting out this cache and maintaining it for our enjoyment. ***

TFTC! Day out geocaching with the fam celebrating by 19th birthday. Was surprised to find this one due to the previous DNF logs ️
A stroll around towne took me to this reserve
It isn't exactly advertised !!
There is a council sign at the end of the 'private road' which says "Revegetation Project",
but that's all
I wandered in on foot and followed some fresh backhoe tracks close to GZ.
A short stroll through the trees,
and GZ was towering above me
A quick cache find
TFTC !!
And never, never, ever pitch your tent under one of these beauties [:o]

After finding our way into this reserve, it was a short walk to GZ.. Despite an obvious hide location, it took a while to locate this cache because it blended so well into the hide. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks GeoVenture2020 for thè cache.
On my way to Teaming up with TheRobbos3266 and armed with my entry permit to South Australia we met up in Kalangadoo for our first day of caching in the Millicent area. Today we targeted the wine bottle puzzles which had long been solved. Found most but a few eluded us and only managed a small fragment of the wine glass Weatherwise it was a most unpleasant day with the temperature reaching 39 and an extremely strong northerly almost blowing me over at times. All up a very successful day in great company. Thanks for a great series
Sad to see how some cachers had driven to this. Come on people!!
Thanks to GeoVenture2020 and **clear skies** from TeamAstro. [^] Cache the planet! [^]
On our way home from Naracoorte tonight, with family, so got this cache on the way.

An interesting location here, made the short walk to GZ, where a quick find was had.
Today I started out at cockatoo lake after camping there for the evening before making my way to Mt gambier today cleaning up as many caches as I could along the way. A solid day with the weather in mint condition which is unusual for the south east. 85 finds for the day and 5 labs.
Thanks for the cache
