GC8Q4ZR Angus the great lizard hunter

Got daughter to drive me here to get some driving hours up. She was still in her pjs at 4pm. Evidently it was pyjamas day. So while she stayed in the car I had a poke around. Had been in contact with the CO who told me where it should be and gave me permission to replace it if it was missing. Had my little stool with me and poked and prodded but came up empty.
Have replaced with a larger micro. The type that smells a little minty on opening. Let’s see if this survives.

GC8Q4ZR Angus the great lizard hunter

Went for a look at this one but what’s with the neighbour looking after his lawn at 6:30am on a Tuesday?
Only had a quick poke around. I guess it was Angus who gave me a fright poking head head out between the rocks.

I’ll be back for a proper look soon.

After my flying trip through the area yesterday, I decided to return today to find a few of the caches which had appeared on the GPS as I passed.

We stopped off here for a coffee break and I took a stroll up to the cache but I couldn't spot it.

I got to meet Angus on Christmas morning… he’s very handsome…

Today while in the area I let my fingers do the walking and soon had the cache in hand…

Nice little hide. The only contents were three very saturated logs. Have added a fresh one in a new bag. Hopefully it fares better.

This was our last cache of the day and seeing we hadn’t had a DNF we wanted to keep it that way. Your first mouthful of wine always tastes a bit sour when you finish without a find. Your last mouthful of wine always ends up the same way - with you slurring your words and stumbling into bed wearing whatever you have on at the time.

Are people that make sounds by running their fingers around the top of wine glasses really musicians? Every time I’m on the wine I try and do the glass musical thing and have even composed a few opuses in my time. The only problem is that when I’m on the plonk I can’t remember what I’d written.

I write most of wine glass tunes in the key of C-Sharp Lieutenant Major. I write my allegros in Pinot and my arpeggios in Mourvèdre. The only issue is that I’m only two glasses deep at the moment and suffering from writer’s block. A few more glasses and I should be right to kick off my next composition. tftc

Ran into grundies here, figuratively speaking that is. Cache was not what I was expecting but found after prodding around. Log was too wet to sign so added another piece of paper. TFTC

22-Dec-22
Out killing some time which my dog is undergoing some treatment at the nearby specialist. Started my hunt when I heard “what Tools of the trade do we need?” And was joined by a couple of others cachers (whose names have escaped my fragile memory, sorry) These cachers then produced a number of said TOTTs to investigate and discover the cache with me having to delve too deeply. Once cache was in hand they also produced fresh dry paper to place in the cache. So helpful, big brownie points to you. TFTC

A lovely afternoon out with Davidwazza! TFTC!

23-Oct-22
This afternoon, after taking a recreational swim at Albany Creek Leisure Centre, baby Warren took a nap whilst we headed home, which allowed an opportunity to make a stop for a few geocaches during the patchy rain downpour.

Having previously made a DNF at this geocache on 23/12/2021, I had this geocache on watch, and got an idea of its hiding place from the CO and a few past finders. I swore that I had searched this particular hiding spot in detail, getting up to its location, so it was interesting to see that I had missed it. Sometimes it happens I guess - a slightly different perspective hides the cache container well. So back in the area today, and I managed to convince [@jesswrigley](http://coord.info/PRNW59T) that this would be a quick-ish find given my intelligence. My initial search around didn't yield anything, but a further search making the leap up soon had the cache in hand. The cache container and logbook were in good shape, although the logbook was slightly damp. I also would have had this cache's size marked as micro, not other (but that may have been an artifact from previous replacements and not its original cache?). Thanks Gcoven for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance. It was nce to have made the conversion to a smilie here. This geocache could also possibly use an attribute add and Terrain rating increase.
Note that this geocache was logged with the *Team Warren* Davidwazza/jesswrigley stamp.

Was out with fng-affl today, and this was one hide on way home, had to avoid standing on guardian this morning, did nearly reach to pick him/her up but the lizard moved under some rocks, thanks, Gcoven, for the cache, log sheet is too wet to put ink on, so put a sheet of note paper in cache

01-Oct-22
Okay, off to collect a cache to finish the "Hidden Dates" challenge for the geo-dad. This conveniently occurs not too far from one that will fill that need.
Cache 4 for the day.
On the way back home from collecting the primary goal for the day.
Decided to stop and get a cold drink and pick up one more quick little cache...
Well, walked in to GZ from car park and quickly ran in to the little lizard. Based on description, was not sure if I had to grab this and find a zipper on it or not?
Okay, moved on and looked in a few places.
No luck so far
pulled out a Tool of the trade that I had from one of the earlier caches, and sued the mirror part of it to locate the cache.
Okay, log was drenched, so we put in a new page that was not wet.
Signed, sealed and returned to hiding place.
Thanks for the hide!

After work I came to this spot I usually get my ubers from, the compass did all the work and all I had to do was guess blindly and voila! Log was a bit soggy but managed to write my user and date in faint writing. TFTC!

Out finding a few caches with Mr CuriousQuest. Next, we headed to this cache. We both searched the correcct spot, but missed the cache. After searching elsewhere, I went back to the first place I checked and, this time, managed to find the cache. I added our names to the log, returned the cache to its spot, then we continued on our way. TFTC

23-Dec-21
Today it was my last day at work for the year, which meant an early lunch departure. I decided to take a few hours and head north for some christmas shopping, before going for a walk along Sandy Creek and target a few of the *A Sandy Bridge* series. I hadn't planned on visiting so many, but it was just a nice day to continue my jog/run.

After attending the shops nearby, I thought I would walk to this geocache which was just around the corner. I ended up searching all around the area, up in the trees, and along the nearby rock wall, but alas nothing. I did find a cool water dragon though, so I guess I did find something themed. Thanks anyway Gcoven for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

Time for us to take our caching up a gear, we've been a little slack of late.
Finished with our Dayboro target list for today we began our journey back to base but there were still caches to be found along the way! Big Grin

It looked like we might be logging a DNF here as, after spending a few minutes scratching around, we left with our tails between our legs.
Not being totally convinced that the cache was gone we reached out to JACS Team (who had replaced the cache) just to ascertain what we were looking for.
Hmmm, OK? [?]
After finding the next on our list we returned here for another look & within less than a minute had the cache in hand.
Thanks JACS Team but it isn't what you told us at all.Surprised

And I thought I was losing it? [?]
Made our mark & replaced as found.

Another chilly morning where I debated with myself whether to get out of the warm bed to find a cache. The inner cacher won the debate and I headed over here to try my luck again. I had previously DNF'd here but saw a replacement cache had been put in place.
After checking the spot I checked last time I was very happy to come up with a cache.
Log signed, all was replaced as found.
Thanks Gcoven and Angus for the cache.

02-Jul-21
Picking up some groceries and popped a temporary replacement for the CO (with permission) after noting the recent DNF and my own unmarked DNF from a couple of weeks earlier.

09-Jun-21
Out and about this afternoon I thought I'd pick up a couple of trads over this way.
Unfortunately I wasn't able to make the find today, after reading previous logs, I'm pretty sure I was looking in the right spot, but will see what the next finder turns up.
Thanks Gcoven for bringing me here .... it reminded me of a nemesis cache I had very close to hear years back.

Find #732

While waiting to do school pick up, we thought we try find this cache. We looked high and low with no luck. Just when we decided to log a DNF, we spotted something unusual in a place we thought we checked. M took a closer look and it was the cache! All good with the cache. Signed and returned as found.

Arriving at GZ I was greeted by one of the resident lizards. He wasn’t too concerned by my presence and watched on as I wandered around in circles for a bit. Finally I had an idea of where I should be looking and started poking here and there. That’s when I met another local lizard Surprised
Not sure who was given a bigger fright, the poor gecko having a pen poked in his hidey hole or me when he decided to jump on my chest. Yes, I screamed like a crazy person. Haha!!!! After regaining my composure and settling my pulse I discovered the other cute cache guardian. My scribble was left and all replaced as found.

Thanks for the cache Gcoven Big Grin

Luckily, we were on our bikes today so that served quite well in order to be able to access this cute little fella. It looks like a bird might have had a go at him, with one of his limbs missing but otherwise everything is in good condition. A bit scary to retrieve; even on the bike, my taller companion couldn’t see the cache and had to blindly reach for it - always a danger in this country!
TFTC, Gcoven. =^.^=

I’m known to attract lizards in my family after an incident a number of years ago where two monitors charged at me as I brought up the rear on a family bush walk. Quite an experience let me tell you! Today’s encounter wasn’t nearly as heart pumping thankfully. TFTC Gcoven

Out for a little ride closer to home today and to unwind after a tough week (plus).

I looked and looked with no luck then the leaf blowing muggles can around the back of the shops. Coffee called and while i was there the ever helpful CO provided me with some very helpful advice to secure a find.

Back at GZ and the right elevation and the right angle provided a view of what i had failed to feel at that spot earlier.

Visiting from the Gold Coast for a days caching prior to attending an evening event in the local area. As we were driving past GZ to look for parking, I was convinced I knew where the cache would be but I was completely wrong and if it wasn't for spot on co-cords I think I'd still be looking. Finally got our hands on the cute camo, retrieved the log & signed as SA & E. Good hiding spot in a busy location where there is endless traffic.

1MinnieMoo had to grab a cache in today particular - so we lined up this one.

We could have had to do it on a less rainier night Twisted We parked up nearby and made our way to GZ. 1MinnieMoo had the guardian in hand in no time. Extracting the log took a little longer - but we got there in the end. With the guardian sewed back up and back where he belongs, we were off.

A great little guardian in a subtle area. TFTC Gcoven Smile

23/7/20 Find #3949
Today was a long day. Work followed by a staff meeting meant I didn’t get through the door until about 7pm, and of course I still needed a traditional cache for my calendar.
With weather rather miserable, and desire fast waning, it was a good thing I had Fangsoki to encourage me to get it done when he arrived. So a quick look at the map and I decided this one nice and close to home that I had been saving for such a “rainy day” requirement fitted the bill. I knew the spot well, as it is where my youngest child, 1GiantPanda, does his junk mail deliveries, so we were soon pulling up and heading over to make a quick find. Log extraction took a little longer, but with the help of a very handy earring post we soon had it out and signed.
Then home in time for the yummy sticky pork being cooked by said youngest child while we were out.
Thanks for the cache Gcoven and Angus.

I was out with my muggle partner for the day, visiting friends and checking out worksites for the coming week. We parked near gz to get some lunch, and as this cache was so close I convinced him to come for a walk so I could find my cache for the day. At gz I read the hint and reached up; only to recoil after getting a fright at what my hand touched. Standing on tiptoe I could see something, so tried again and retrieved the cute cache guardian. Log signed and returned, we walked across the road to enjoy our lunch in the park. Tftc Gcoven Big Grin

After breakfast with friends, T-Tech and I headed over to Albany Creek to get this CO's two new caches sorted. I have visited this one before, on a school afternoon at 3pm, and got seriously muggled out, so was not as thorough as I would normally be. Today we searched the same spot again more diligently, but were still empty-handed, until I had another look at the hint, which changed my perspective a little and I discovered the hide. Glad to make this one a smiley Big Grin TFTC, Gcoven.

Well well well.

This week was "Nemesis" week - the week where I suck it up and go and sort out all of those nemesis caches that haunt me. Time to put on my big girl panties, and JFDI. And so I did Smile

Feel proud as punch to have knocked off 5 nemesis caches in a single week. This means I've got all the trads and multis (and all but 3 puzzles) in my 5 km radius. Or do I? Someone has been busy, and popped this one right in my bubble. This must be rectified!

Ducked out this morning to grab it. A lovely quick find. All in good condition here.
