I made my way out to Ballarat from Melbourne earlier in the day to run some errands. After they were completed, I still had a few hours to spare in the afternoon. I recall finding a few caches in this area a while ago, and I still had plenty more to find. I decided to return to this area to spend my final few hours of the day finding some caches hidden around it. It was quite an overcast day with some light rain forecast, so I was hoping to make the most of it. This was my final find of the day. After spending the last little while gradually making my way along the muddy and slippery track, finding the caches hidden along it, I was relieved to have finally made it to the end. The cache itself was found quickly and it was all in good condition. Thanks for placing these caches along this trail. I enjoyed spending my afternoon finding them, and I still have many more to find nearby!TFTC

A great walk in the still forest today. Not a sound except the distant call of the odd bird and even more distant odd truck. Some of these caches were out by 15m or so, so fan out if having trouble. Thanks to deanside and Tenkae who added to the fun. Logs signed as TAD and stamps used when the logs were soaked! Thanks GemmaSistema and clear skies from TeamAstro. Cache the planet!

A lovely day out with Jonescrew to find this series that we solved. Jonescrew is new to puzzle caching and so we solved them together. The rain held off and we had a great day out caching. This series wasn't park and grab. More like park and a short trek into the scrub, either slightly up or slightly down the hill. Apologies for the generic log. TFTC.

17-Feb-24
Found with FeatherWaite on a 4-day trip to Victoria. From Adelaide. Our main aim was to complete the Ballarat Geotour and other caches of interest in the broader Ballarat area. There were also a number of events and a CITO to attend. The weather was on the warm side, but not too bad for this time of year, which made for pleasant camping each night. The cache was found in good order. Thanks GemmaSistema for the cache.

17-Feb-24
Found with e.gregory1 during an extended weekend in the Ballarat area, with the main aim of completing the Ballarat GeoTour, but as planned, we attended a number of events and CITOs, and found a good range of caches while touring around the district. We found all the cache in the Christmas Down Under series on an early morning foray around the forestry tracks, picking up a few other caches along the way. Thanks for the cache GemmaSistema!

A nice and quick find here on my way past today. Cache is all goodThis week I decided to head to Victoria for a few days to target finishing off the Ballarat Geotour and also find the new series in St Arnaud, anything else was a bonus. I ended up finding a little over 300 caches plus a tonne of ad labs along the way. Thanks for the cache

And that's a wrap.. Stats 8 hours 8am-4pm Km over 12km 58 caches in including the Earthcache and a golden oldie Not enough water or chocolate (well in my head there is never enough I still had food and water left) Medium level of fitness recommended sturdy walking shoes, gaiters and a walking pole. Reception was hit and miss. Download your maps. The roads I saw in between the trails were again hit and miss, I certainly wouldn't try with a 2WD. I think the roads into the camps were okay.,The trail itself that follows the Great dividing range was awesome and I highly recommend. A mixed bag of caches with great hints. Nothing too hard.. GPS was hit and miss due to trees and service. A big thanks to GemmaSistema for all your work with placing and maintaining these caches.

A Sunday stroll on a Thursday… why not! TFTC

17-Apr-23
Found with PapaGrouch and MazzyMay. We went for a stroll to find this cache even though it was a Monday. We had found one of the others a couple of years ago but never got back to find the rest, so today we headed out to remedy that. The track was a bit interesting as some motorbike riders had been enjoying it, and with the rain as well, some of the ruts and puddles were significant. We made our way over or around them as much as possible, and took alternate routes back after picking up caches. Most caches were quickly found, unless we zeroed in on the wrong area at first. We are glad that these caches aren't sitting there waiting to be found anymore.
This was our second for the day, after finding it we headed back around to where we left the car and tackled the track in a different direction. TFTC

Found today with PapaGrouch and SciFiRulz. It was good to finally do this group of caches. Not exactly a Sunday stroll. More like a Monday marathon for this old lady. Thankfully all found. Thanks for placing these caches.

Chook (from chooknchunk) and I have wanted to do this hike through the bush collecting all the caches along the way for it seems "ages" - Only took us over a year lol before both could make it. Well, we car shuttled half way to the end so we could fit more caches in. We talked, laughed and had a most enjoyable day - hoping to return earlier than later to finish the trail.
Decided to do this twisty and narrow sunday stroll - both enjoyed a lot. Our last cache for the day and what a day - bring on heaps more.
thanks Gemma for these well placed caches.

09-Mar-23
After walking the lower half of the Eureka Track this morning, Chook and Sunset62 had a quick bite to eat then headed off to stroll along this narrow twisty bike/walk track to find the Sunday Stroll caches, returning along Codes Forest Rd back to the car.

We had read the previous log before our trip today, regarding the previously missing cache being very kindly replaced with a hanging bison. So we came prepared with a 200ml sistema and placed it in the original location where it now matches the cache name and the hint again.

Looks like there has been a mountain bike or trail bike event recently, as the buggers had left their caution tape leftovers in the stump and possibly taken the cache when they did this? Who knows for sure, but we took their rubbish home and made sure the cache was nicely covered.

Thank you GemmaSistema for the effort in placing all these caches so we could come out here and enjoy them.

14-Feb-23
Out in the area again today and started with this one. Agree with previous visitor that it is probably gone. Checked the area of GZ, and as per the cache name, however nothing could be found. Strange that it could be muggled out here, but it certainly seems to be gone.

Having met and spoken with the CO last weekend, I left another cache as a replacement, however all I had today was a bison, which is now hanging in the tree behind the stump. Should be easy to spot.

Thanks for the series out this way GS...a great spot to spend a bit of me time.

17-Nov-22
While on my way to the MEGA event in Whittlesea, I had the opportunity to get in a few extra days of caching beforehand. This got me to go to areas I would not have normally seen and to some awesome caches. Today I arranged to meet up with Snickersallan and we would do some caches around the area, fill in some grid spaces and look at some labs. We had fun chasing multi’s, although a couple did not work out even when the checker agreed with us. We got in a few caches around this area and mainly concentrated on some labs and a few Virtuals.

Today was a drive out to Ballarat, chasing some geoarts, some multi’s, a geotour, a nice little power trail and a few as we passed by. While we were buzzing around, the logs did get signed with a bunch of names. Depending on who found the cache was the one who signed from the group, gees it was a lot and complicated, lol. So, we ended up going with TQ5, though some had chamad, nikid1, KMG ND, CM as well. It was a fun day, thanks to the CO’s for the placements.

This was a nice drive and power trail in a beautiful area thank you.
Grabbed this one as we passed.

17-Nov-22
Found this while attending the Whittlesea mega.
Depending on the log size and who I was with this is signed as nikid1, ND1 or TQ5 (team Queensland).

The group of us from the north decided to spend a day in Ballarat as we were all after different DTs, attributes and a lovely geoart (as I love Christmas) that we could get here.

Grabbed this after finishing the local geoart.

Walking my dogv in the area, it occurred to me there may be a cache around. Opening up the app I was correct and it would have been remiss of me not to go searching....just as remiss as it was that I didn't have a pen, so couldn't sign! Log book a bit damp though.

A short diversion off the Christmas Trail.

With work encouraging us to take some holidays and Mr SKI having quite a few weeks up his sleeve it was time to take another short break and do some sightseeing and caching in parts of Victoria we seldom visit.
This time we decided it would be Ballarat. There is a wide variety of cache types and quite a number of Adventure Labs to do, so the area is quite attractive. And that doesn't include the historical and interest aspects as well.
We organized to meet up with some friends while there so we would have the opportunity to do some joint as well as solo caching.
We have already had some great adventures on a few challenging caches that generated a lot of fun and as usual always good to find some pre-solved puzzles.
All logs signed as SKI Pair, RASP (Rebel Acts & SKI Pair or SP depending on size of logs and availability of space.

Thank you for your efforts in creating and maintaining the cache GemmaSistema.

Looking for a suitable parking spot to tackle the next section of this Goldfields trail I ended up driving this section making this and the previous cache a park-and -grab. A walk would not have been half a much as fun as the short drive was to this cache after all the rain, the puddles and ruts necessitating a brief engagement of 4wd in the geomobile at the bottom of the gully followed by some sideways action! Another cache found quickly thx GemmaS. Cache contents slightly damp but otherwise ok to sign the logbook.

Find # 9750
Found with Tyred n Cranky

Off for a Sunday in the bush around Creswick. With bikes on board we tackled the Goldfields Track, Sunday stroll caches and a couple of others around.
Based at the picnic grounds we made our way south first. Then done the north ones after lunch.

The bush was full of buzz today as we seen a number of motorbikes, 4x4s, other bike riders, bush walkers, gold fossickers using both pans and detectors and the campers both in the camp grounds an others in the bush.

On our way around we tackled everything from hard pack roads, gravel, clay, rough course stone roads, rock drops, deep mud and even deeper puddles, not to mention a number of trees over the track/roads we had to climb over (who goes around Smile ) but we made it through to the end with over 50 caches found for the day.

After the ride, with all the mud and clay we went through our bikes were caked over and a little heavier. Not to forget our jackets that were splattered up the back. YEP WE HAD FUN ALRIGHT! A great days caching out in the bush.

All caches were found quite quick thanks to good hints.

Find No. 3383. Found with FUF009 at 1.25pm.

Headed down to Creswick with FUF009 and our bicycles on board to do the trails down that way.
Pulled up at the picnic area and headed off. The park was alive with Gold Prospectors, walkers, motor cycle riders, cyclists and four wheel drivers.
All caches were easy to find. Some terrain was challenging but that is what caching is all about - the challenge.
We all had a very enjoyable day, walking and cycling through the park.

Last one for today! Will be returning for the rest. Thanks so much Gemma. Great series, unfortunately have to get back to the big smoke for babysitting duties. Excellent caches to incorporate a decent walk‍

TFTC GemmaSistema. Another well-placed cache. And the last for us for the day. Thanks for bringing us here. It’s back to the car and the Western Highway home for some babysitting for one of us. Well done N04 who found most of the caches today. Jimmytherat with Noelle04

Well it’s 2021 and I have finally said good bye to a not so great 2020 and it was great to finally be able to have a reasonable holiday as I have not had a decent break since 2019.
So after making it to South Australia, crossing the border and then being greeted by a couple of very friendly SA police offices for which i had the official paper work to allow me to enter I then made my way west along the Eyre Hwy and I went as far as Penong and the Eyre Hwy on which I have not travelled along since the late 70’s when I was on a holiday with my folks and this was the last holiday before I started full time work as a sparkie.
I then toured the Eyre Peninsula and throughly enjoyed the 2 national parks down the bottom of it.
COVID got in the way and interrupted my dates so the planned Yorke Peninsula part of the trip will have to wait for another time except for Port Germein and Crystal Brook.
Finally recrossed the border back into Vic after being in SA for 3 great weeks near Pinarroo
And stayed at Murryville for the night.
Geocaching when towing a van is not always easy and I have to be a bit selective on which ones I decide to try and find for safe parking purposes especially along busy highways.
Made Beaufort yesterday afternoon and found a few in the afternoon.
Today is a new day so I got up early to tackle the tracks around here to find a few Christmas trees and to drive/walk a bit of the Goldfields trail as well.
After driving around the tracks for awhile it was time to get out stretch the legs and go for a stroll around the tracks, only thing is today is not Sunday.
First one and I headed off looking for a stump which there might be only one or two hundred out here.
Soon located what I was looking for and on to the next one.
Thanks GemmaSistema TFTC.

A camping road trip with Papi4506, Geoturtle37 and RoamingHowie, exploring Ballarat and surrounds, with focus on the new Geotour, the Goldfields Track and various solved puzzles.
Day Two...
Today’s target - Goldfield track. A really fun drive/walk (including a Sunday stroll on a Sunday!), enjoying all locations, and no trouble with any finds. Gotta catch ‘em all!
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache, GemmaSistema

After an early (!!!) morning breakfast OHC, GT37, Papi4506 and I set off to follow the goldfields trail and surrounding caches.

We have only just realised it’s Sunday morning... and we are doing the Sunday stroll trail .

Thanks GemmaSistema for the cache.

20-Jan-21
Needing some space and fresh air we headed north for the day, exploring the bush around the Eureka Track in the morning followed by some CBD city walking in the afternoon. It was a great day out with Jacko - good company and we even did some caching along the way Smile. It ended up being a diverse mix of caches, terrain and cache types with amazingly no DNFs.

After covering the southern end of the Eureka Track on foot we tried the northern section but soon realized a 2WD wasn't going to get far. So the car was parked and it was off for some Sunday strolling looking for stumps.
This was the final one of the series. Perhaps it should have been done first judging by the cache names. But then again, today isn't Sunday either. Same result - lots of smilies Smile.
Now to get into the city for some lunch.
Thanks, GemmaSistema.

Last stump for the day (I think!). Thanks for this series, back for more some day.

10-Jan-21
Out for the day with Sorceysal (And Bree the GeoDog) to attempt to do this popular series. Not the best day to be walking 10km in the heat, but it's always justified when you do such a great series.
My sincere thanks GemmaSistema, another easy find with great hints and coords.

Bree loved the first chance of a decent walk here, as we left the car at the bottom, and walked this series while it was a little cooler

10-Jan-21
Out with Bogonghazy for a rare day of caching, and a walk and drive along the Goldfields Track seemed just right for the day, albeit a bit hot. Managed to get most of the caches and an enjoyable day was had with lots of laughs and a couple of swims for bree. Sorry about the generic logs but there is too many to remember. Thanks for all your efforts Gemma, in placing these for us to find.

The weather forecast was for rain, but it looked like it would hold off for a while, so rather than sit at home I loaded up the push bike and headed out to find some caches.. I was able to find all that I looked for. In general the co-ordinates were pretty good and the hides were in good condition. I only had to use the hint for a couple. All were found and signed within a few minutes of arrival. Some spotted before getting off the bike, a few after a few minutes of walking in circles.

Had a great afternoon out, with 38 finds added to the tally. Apologies, but that does mean I'm using a generic log for each of them.

Spotted large wallaby, heard lots of kookaburra's, and saw only a few other people.
