I made my way out to Ballarat from Melbourne earlier in the day to run some errands. After they were completed, I still had a few hours to spare in the afternoon. I recall finding a few caches in this area a while ago, and I still had plenty more to find. I decided to return to this area to spend my final few hours of the day finding some caches hidden around it. It was quite an overcast day with some light rain forecast, so I was hoping to make the most of it. There was a little bit of water in this container which I tried to drain. Logbook however was still easily signable.TFTC
A great walk in the still forest today. Not a sound except the distant call of the odd bird and even more distant odd truck. Some of these caches were out by 15m or so, so fan out if having trouble. Thanks to deanside and Tenkae who added to the fun. Logs signed as TAD and stamps used when the logs were soaked! Thanks GemmaSistema and clear skies from TeamAstro. Cache the planet!
Spending my birthday the best way I know, caching in the bush and with great friends in the company of Tenkae and TeamAstro!!!!Thanks GemmaSistema for showcasing this area and contributing to this great game for myself and others to enjoy. Happy trails!
Thanks to GemmaSistema for this cache along this walking track. It was an overcast and cool walk to these caches. along the Goldfields track.A pleasant wander, one walker was met on the track but surprisingly no bird calls were heard at all. We did hear some squeaky trees though. We were amazed at the deeply rutted tracks both from motorbikes as well as large high clearance vehicles.
Found a pathtag in this one and left the swap bag behind. Shall add extras later TFTC
TFTC. Setting up camp for a week in Murray Bridge before the MEGA for 29th Feb!Moving to Ballarat for another week afterwards. Last hurrah travelling before wooding season at home starts!Happy caching and safe travels!
Nice easy find. Accidentally left the pen in the car so we left an acorn . Watch out for the blackberries!!
Day 2 of getting sidetracked from completing the Ballarat GeoTour. I enjoyed my walk around the Koala reserve so much yesterday that today i thought i would return to do some more walking. The plan was to walk/cache for 4 hours and then take 2 hours to return. At 12 p.m., I decided i wanted to keep going rather than retrace my steps, so i organised a pick up at the other end. This was one of the many caches l found today.I'm not sure about T rating on these tracks they are very shredded.
I came to Ballarat for a brunch event, then spent the rest of my time in the bush. Apart from the first and last, it was a GemmaSistema day. More water emptied out.
Thanks to GemmaSistema for the cache.

Found with PapaGrouch and MazzyMay. We went for a stroll to find this cache even though it was a Monday. We had found one of the others a couple of years ago but never got back to find the rest, so today we headed out to remedy that. The track was a bit interesting as some motorbike riders had been enjoying it, and with the rain as well, some of the ruts and puddles were significant. We made our way over or around them as much as possible, and took alternate routes back after picking up caches. Most caches were quickly found, unless we zeroed in on the wrong area at first. We are glad that these caches aren't sitting there waiting to be found anymore.
We continued on and found this cache which was the last of the series for us. Then we followed the track until we hit the 'road' and took the slightly longer, but easier to walk, way back to the car. TFTC

Found today with PapaGrouch and SciFiRulz. It was good to finally do this group of caches. Not exactly a Sunday stroll. More like a Monday marathon for this old lady. Thankfully all found. Thanks for placing these caches.ound
Chook (from chooknchunk) and I have wanted to do this hike through the bush collecting all the caches along the way for it seems "ages" - Only took us over a year lol before both could make it. Well, we car shuttled half way to the end so we could fit more caches in. We talked, laughed and had a most enjoyable day - hoping to return earlier than later to finish the trail.
Decided to do this twisty and narrow sunday stroll - both enjoyed a lot.
thanks Gemma for these well placed caches.

thanks Gemma for these well placed caches.
After walking the lower half of the Eureka Track this morning, Chook and Sunset62 had a quick bite to eat then headed off to stroll along this narrow twisty bike/walk track to find the Sunday Stroll caches, returning along Codes Forest Rd back to the car.
Spotted another stump further in, before realising there was a much easier option. Isn't that always the way.
Thank you GemmaSistema for the effort in placing all these caches so we could come out here and enjoy them.

Last for the morning and after parking the car, it was a walk along the footpad to find the cache without any issues. Log was signed, then it was back to the car and of down the road to the back road in that I've used before.
Thanks GemmaSistema, look forward to coming back in the weeks ahead. Cache all good.

TFTC - out with Crack n Lee Lee to complete this part of the Goldfield Track. Enjoying this smaller side path.
A lovely day to be out walking and talking with 2beez.
Thanks GemmaSistema for placing and maintaining these for us to enjoy.
Left lots if swaps where we could.

We have headed to Ballarat to attend doctor appointments and in our spare time head out to areas that we have not cached in to find the many geocaches that have popped up in the forest areas. Most of the roads were acceptable, some geocachers were on walking/bike riding section which hubby hiked on and I drove the car and would pick him up along the way. All geocaches were found and were in good condition. SL TFTC
Find #2707 for me. Found at 11:02 am with my dog Bonnie. This morning was the perfect time for a Sunday stroll through the beautiful bushland north of Ballarat to complete this series which I began back in 2020. Today my GPS led me straight to the blackened stump for a quick find. Just before this one I found the Sesame Street cache, and I thought that this cache might have been brought to us by the letter "H" judging by the "H" signs on a couple of trees with arrows pointing in the direction of the cache. Orienteering signs I guess. Anyway, thanks for the fun series and the cache Gemma!

Before coming to Ballarat for the weekend with Connie of (ConnieandRick) we completed all but one of the Christmas Downunder series. We decided to pick them up this afternoon and then continued on for a few traditionals.
We walked a lot further than we originally intended but were glad of the beautiful day.

A long walk after the Xmas Tree series, but the second car was down here, so we just had to do them.
Last one to complete this series on another walk out here with the dog (somehow I didn't get it with the others!). Thanks so much for these caches, such a nice place to ignore the goings-on in the world for a bit! TFTC!

Up hill and down dale to get to this one, dodging the muddy puddles on the way. Cache had water in it as the container was found on its side, not the most waterproof way to leave it. Fortunately your All- weather paper logsheet was able to be signed. Emptied the water out and returned the cache in a more suitable orientation. Thx GemmaS ftc.

Off for a Sunday in the bush around Creswick. With bikes on board we tackled the Goldfields Track, Sunday stroll caches and a couple of others around.
Based at the picnic grounds we made our way south first. Then done the north ones after lunch.
The bush was full of buzz today as we seen a number of motorbikes, 4x4s, other bike riders, bush walkers, gold fossickers using both pans and detectors and the campers both in the camp grounds an others in the bush.
On our way around we tackled everything from hard pack roads, gravel, clay, rough course stone roads, rock drops, deep mud and even deeper puddles, not to mention a number of trees over the track/roads we had to climb over (who goes around ) but we made it through to the end with over 50 caches found for the day.
After the ride, with all the mud and clay we went through our bikes were caked over and a little heavier. Not to forget our jackets that were splattered up the back. YEP WE HAD FUN ALRIGHT! A great days caching out in the bush.
All caches were found quite quick thanks to good hints.

Find No. 3378. Found with FUF009 at 12.52pm.
Headed down to Creswick with FUF009 and our bicycles on board to do the trails down that way.
Pulled up at the picnic area and headed off. The park was alive with Gold Prospectors, walkers, motor cycle riders, cyclists and four wheel drivers.
All caches were easy to find. Some terrain was challenging but that is what caching is all about - the challenge.
We all had a very enjoyable day, walking and cycling through the park.

TFTC I took the wrong path and ended up going for a long walk through blackberry forest in cycle shoes. They grabbed me a lot on the way there and back. Guess I’m on the wrong road to get these as I saw another track which would have been a better walk near the cache. Log is wet.
TFTC GemmaSistema. Another well-placed cache. Walk-up find. Jimmytherat with Noelle04
Well it’s 2021 and I have finally said good bye to a not so great 2020 and it was great to finally be able to have a reasonable holiday as I have not had a decent break since 2019.
So after making it to South Australia, crossing the border and then being greeted by a couple of very friendly SA police offices for which i had the official paper work to allow me to enter I then made my way west along the Eyre Hwy and I went as far as Penong and the Eyre Hwy on which I have not travelled along since the late 70’s when I was on a holiday with my folks and this was the last holiday before I started full time work as a sparkie.
I then toured the Eyre Peninsula and throughly enjoyed the 2 national parks down the bottom of it.
COVID got in the way and interrupted my dates so the planned Yorke Peninsula part of the trip will have to wait for another time except for Port Germein and Crystal Brook.
Finally recrossed the border back into Vic after being in SA for 3 great weeks near Pinarroo
And stayed at Murryville for the night.
Geocaching when towing a van is not always easy and I have to be a bit selective on which ones I decide to try and find for safe parking purposes especially along busy highways.
Made Beaufort yesterday afternoon and found a few in the afternoon.
Today is a new day so I got up early to tackle the tracks around here to find a few Christmas trees and to drive/walk a bit of the Goldfields trail as well.
After driving around the tracks for awhile it was time to get out stretch the legs and go for a stroll around the tracks, only thing is today is not Sunday.
So not just a sump but a blackened stump so that should stand out around here.
Nice and peaceful walking along here with plenty of bird calls along the way.
Thanks GemmaSistema TFTC.

This was one of the main aims for today so here we are, nice and early. We will drive what we can but are prepared and hoping for a great walk in this great area also.
Back on track again, wonder how long it will last.
Thanks for the time and effort that has gone into placing and maintaining this trail for us.

A camping road trip with Papi4506, Geoturtle37 and RoamingHowie, exploring Ballarat and surrounds, with focus on the new Geotour, the Goldfields Track and various solved puzzles.
Day Two...
Today’s target - Goldfield track. A really fun drive/walk (including a Sunday stroll on a Sunday!), enjoying all locations, and no trouble with any finds. Gotta catch ‘em all!
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache, GemmaSistema

Log was reasonably dry but cache had water in it. Dried out now.
Thanks GemmaSistema for the cache.

Needing some space and fresh air we headed north for the day, exploring the bush around the Eureka Track in the morning followed by some CBD city walking in the afternoon. It was a great day out with Jacko - good company and we even did some caching along the way . It ended up being a diverse mix of caches, terrain and cache types with amazingly no DNFs.
After covering the southern end of the Eureka Track on foot we tried the northern section but soon realized a 2WD wasn't going to get far. So the car was parked and it was off for some Sunday strolling looking for stumps.
First one done here while in full walk mode.
Thanks, GemmaSistema.

Out for the day with Sorceysal (And Bree the GeoDog) to attempt to do this popular series. Not the best day to be walking 10km in the heat, but it's always justified when you do such a great series.
My sincere thanks GemmaSistema, another easy find with great hints and coords.
Bree loved the first chance of a decent walk here, as we left the car at the bottom, and walked this series while it was a little cooler

Out with Bogonghazy for a rare day of caching, and a walk and drive along the Goldfields Track seemed just right for the day, albeit a bit hot. Managed to get most of the caches and an enjoyable day was had with lots of laughs and a couple of swims for bree. Sorry about the generic logs but there is too many to remember. Thanks for all your efforts Gemma, in placing these for us to find.
The weather forecast was for rain, but it looked like it would hold off for a while, so rather than sit at home I loaded up the push bike and headed out to find some caches.. I was able to find all that I looked for. In general the co-ordinates were pretty good and the hides were in good condition. I only had to use the hint for a couple. All were found and signed within a few minutes of arrival. Some spotted before getting off the bike, a few after a few minutes of walking in circles.
Had a great afternoon out, with 38 finds added to the tally. Apologies, but that does mean I'm using a generic log for each of them.
Spotted large wallaby, heard lots of kookaburra's, and saw only a few other people.
Thanks for bringing me here.

Can now say I've walked some of the Goldfields Track. A good series to do with good hints and sensible hides. TFTC
A Friday stroll to another stump, that thankfully didn't have us stumped. TFTC
Many thanks to GemmaSistema for placing the Goldfield Track series. This was find number 21 for the day. TFTC.
#17622. With a cooler day forecast and wanting a bit of a change from a lot of AdLabs Robmc and I decided on a mountain bike ride on the Goldfields Track starting at White Swan Road and heading towards Creswick. We also did the Sunday Stroll Series (not ideal for a heavy electric MB, with an old, non-adrenalin junkie rider).
Dear oh dear - I think I have been too spoilt up there in the North East with such good surfaces on the Rail Trails. This was not quite what I was expecting today. Right at the start huge rocks that I had to walk over and then random sections of the same stuff along the way. Fallen trees, deep ruts from 4 x 4s, water, and more of the same, plus the very narrow section along the water race.
We turned onto the Sunday Stroll caches by mistake. We had intended to do them on the way back. I can safely say that Rob enjoyed this section but I did not. Was glad to make it to the last one so we could ride the open tracks back to where we left off, before continuing northwards.
Thanks GemmaSistema

Out with the deadly treadlies to do a bit of the Goldfields trail with BettyBoo3747.
We also collected a few caches, and tried a couple of AdLabs.
As we were flying down the main Goldfields trail, we took a slight detour onto the single track for these caches.
Not quite a Sunday Stroll!
This was a fun trail to do on an electric mountain bike! Just what it was made for.
Narrow, lots of rock, tree roots and mud puddles. What more could we ask for?
And then you put caches along it!
Thanks for the fun ride and cache.
Thanks, Robmc.
PS: stumped me with the BOT one!

I teamed up with The_Tritonz here to tackle this series. We all enjoyed our time in this area and luckily we were just finishing up when the rain started. Thanks GemmaSistema for placing and maintaining.
We set out with wozzle68 to complete the Goldfield Track trial today armed with a bike for the fit Triton and the car for woz and myself. We thoroughly enjoyed the journey through the bush with the caches taking us to some amazing locations with changing scenery. Being a Saturday we had to contend with gold fossickers trail bike riders and campers but that didn't deter us from our goal of completing the series. Its amazing how many people take advantage of this beaut location.
At one time when the track got narrow there might have been a slight mishap but we won't talk about that lol The hills were plentiful but that made for some great views.
Did we mention the flat tyre? The subie decided it had too much air in one of the tyres and wanted to take a break [:o]
The various hides were quickly found with the help of good hints making for a pleasurable caching outing.
Thanks GemmaSistema for the mammoth effort put into this series we had a ball today.

Find #4540
Traditional Find #2833**
I headed out with Steve to return to Creswick where we'd made a start on finding caches a fortnight ago. The day was warm and overcast and the Creswick State Forest quite crowded for a forest. Campers at every available campsite along with metal detectorists and gold panners all try their luck.
We had no DNF's but the track was quite a lot rougher than we had anticipated and on a few occasions, elected to park the car and walk. Steve did a brilliant job of piloting his Subaru along the tracks but there were a few places which we beyond the capabilities of any SUV.
**Thank-you to GemmaSistema for placing this geocache**

It was now time to leave the goldfields track for a little while and go for a stroll even though it wasn’t on a Sunday.
After parking the car, we headed off on foot, we were only a short distance in when the first group of mountain bike riders came on passed, there were a few for groups later on as well.
All caches were found without any problems as we made our way along this trail.

TFTC. We had been caching along the Goldfields track. We got to this intersection and decided to have a Sunday stroll on Wednesday. An enjoyable detour before heading home .
Found this one then our pen died half way through the log. Left to get a new pen then managed to log the complete wrong cache. Oh well, what's another cache in the broad scheme of things? Quick detour to find the other cache so we could log properly. TFTC
Tftc! Had to walk through the bushes to get to it. This is before so saw the track
Follow the bike track to stay away from the blackberries, I went the hard way tftc
Rain, Hail and snow, why not cache. Grabbing some more smiles before going back into Stage 3. TFTC GemmaSistema
Thanks GemmaSistema, this is a brilliant series that highlights the Goldfields Trail. The caches of appropriate size are very well stocked and the hints are spot on. We are really looking forward to this series being extended. Caching with Alansee today.
Found with McLookers on a great day for a walk in an interesting part of Victoria. This is a very good series which we enjoyed - alll caches were found thanks to good coords and good hints.
Found by The Empire + H
It was sooo cold here in Ballarat today! We grabbed some lunch (take away of course) and had it down by the lake. We did some 'Adventures', found an earthcache, now it was time to tackle a series along a cool 4WD track. We did a good amount of these this afternoon, the rest we'll have to come to find another day.
There were a few walkers along the track in which we had to dodge (or they dodged us!) and we took many different tracks to find the walking ones easier! Thanks for the cache, the cool series GemmaSistema.
