After finishing some laundry and general chores around the house this morning, I decided this afternoon would be a great time to make my way out here to find a few geocaches. I have already found a few geocaches in this forest in the past, but I still have plenty more to find. When I arrived, I found myself a suitable place to park and hopped out of my car before making my way along this trail on foot. I managed to locate nearly twenty caches today, but I still have many unfound, so will certainly be back out here again! With a bit of a gap between this cache and my previous find, I decided it was time to nibble on some snacks while walking along the trail. Luckily I finished my snacks just in time, because as I checked my GPS, I realised I was very close to GZ.TFTC
Suscoe was in the Ballarat and Creswick area this morning to enjoy some caching. After the event we headed out to the Goldfields Track to continue our journey heading steadily northwards. It was cold in the forest but at least the trees kept the wind under control. We met a gold prospector and two groups of walkers as we progressed along the trail. Two kookaburras were heard this morning too, along with squeaky trees. We found all the caches that we had selected for today. Thanks to GemmaSistema for this trail of caches.
Awesome. Making this last one for the day.Really enjoyed this trail.Cant wait to be back to do some more.TFTC.
Day 2 of getting sidetracked from completing the Ballarat GeoTour. I enjoyed my walk around the Koala reserve so much yesterday that today i thought i would return to do some more walking. The plan was to walk/cache for 4 hours and then take 2 hours to return. At 12 p.m., I decided i wanted to keep going rather than retrace my steps, so i organised a pick up at the other end. This was one of the many caches l found today.
what a crazy day. this morning at 11 o'clock we set out to go caching on a 12km walk. although we missed the last few due to the sun setting alittle earlier than we had planned we managed to get 45/50 we stopped for a picnic along the way and thankfully our legs aren't in too much pain. i'd be lying if i said my feet didn't hurt but my face hurts more from smiling. thanks to gemmasistema for the majority of this trail and a couple from some others great scenic walk and i'll be back to snag those last couple i missed.
I came to Ballarat for a brunch event, then spent the rest of my time in the bush. Apart from the first and last, it was a GemmaSistema day. Ken
My thanks for the cache, GemmaSistema.
My thanks for the cache, GemmaSistema.
Found it with Sunsong1, thanks Gemma for hiding so many caches for everybody to find.
Started this track over a year ago so it was probably about time to do some more of it TFTC
Out and about on this Monday holiday and a drive through the forest was the plan. Had to park and walk, then move and park and walk again, but it was a good way to get my steps. The target for the day was 14 along the trail and pleased to say all 14 attempted were found. Logs were signed and then it was off to the next.
Thanks GemmaSistema...a pleasant way to spend a couple of hours in a part of the forest I hadn't been to before.

Chook (from chooknchunk) and I have wanted to do this hike through the bush collecting all the caches along the way for it seems "ages" - Only took us over a year lol before both could make it. Well, we car shuttled half way to the end so we could fit more caches in. We talked, laughed and had a most enjoyable day - hoping to return earlier than later to finish the trail. thanks Gemma for these well placed caches.
Chook and Sunset62 had been talking about doing the Eureka Trail for ages. Eventually the stars aligned and today was the day. We car-shuttled to park one halfway, and set off on the trail on this glorious autumn day. All caches were found and were generally in good condition. We absolutely had a ball, lots of banter and laughs, and we can't wait to come back soon to finish the other half.
Thank you GemmaSistema for the effort in placing all these caches so we could come out here and enjoy them.

A short walk along the Wallaby track and we found our 17th cache, all good here, SL TFTC
Thanks for the series of caches GemmaSistema!.
Took the bike out today to pick up some caches along the Eureka Trail, But I realized pretty quick it probably wasn't the best idea
Cleaned up what caches I could, but I might have to come back later on with the hiking boots to finish it off properly!.
All caches are in good condition unless otherwise stated, Big thanks for the effort put into maintaining these caches and keeping the series alive for everyone to enjoy!.

We have headed to Ballarat to attend doctor appointments and in our spare time head out to areas that we have not cached in to find the many geocaches that have popped up in the forest areas. Most of the roads were acceptable, some geocachers were on walking/bike riding section which hubby hiked on and I drove the car and would pick him up along the way. All geocaches were found and were in good condition. SL TFTC
TFTC, took a drive to this one as I rode my bicycle earlier in and too tired to ride lol. Found with Algae in the forest…
We saw a giant moth here which was really cool! Took a photo may try to upload later. TFTC
Find #2698 for me. Found at 11:46 am with my dog Bonnie. This was another quick find along the trail. Great day to be out walking! Thanks for the fun series and the cache Gemma!
Find # 9733
Found with Tyred n Cranky
Off for a Sunday in the bush around Creswick. With bikes on board we tackled the Goldfields Track, Sunday stroll caches and a couple of others around.
Based at the picnic grounds we made our way south first. Then done the north ones after lunch.
The bush was full of buzz today as we seen a number of motorbikes, 4x4s, other bike riders, bush walkers, gold fossickers using both pans and detectors and the campers both in the camp grounds an others in the bush.
On our way around we tackled everything from hard pack roads, gravel, clay, rough course stone roads, rock drops, deep mud and even deeper puddles, not to mention a number of trees over the track/roads we had to climb over (who goes around ) but we made it through to the end with over 50 caches found for the day.
After the ride, with all the mud and clay we went through our bikes were caked over and a little heavier. Not to forget our jackets that were splattered up the back. YEP WE HAD FUN ALRIGHT! A great days caching out in the bush.
All caches were found quite quick thanks to good hints.

Find No. 3366. Found with FUF009 at 11.43am.
Headed down to Creswick with FUF009 and our bicycles on board to do the trails down that way.
Pulled up at the picnic area and headed off. The park was alive with Gold Prospectors, walkers, motor cycle riders, cyclists and four wheel drivers.
All caches were easy to find. Some terrain was challenging but that is what caching is all about - the challenge.
We all had a very enjoyable day, walking and cycling through the park.

A perfect day to be out hiking with 2beez. We have been wanting to make a start on this track for sometime. Today we completed 12kms in 3.45hrs. We parked one car nearby and another at the lake.
Cache was found easily. Left swap.
Thanks GemmaSistema for creating this series for all to enjoy and explore.

This was one of the main aims for today so here we are, nice and early. We will drive what we can but are prepared and hoping for a great walk in this great area also.
Once we looked in the correct place, the cache was quickly found.
Thanks for the time and effort that has gone into placing and maintaining this trail for us.

A camping road trip with Papi4506, Geoturtle37 and RoamingHowie, exploring Ballarat and surrounds, with focus on the new Geotour, the Goldfields Track and various solved puzzles.
Day Two...
Today’s target - Goldfield track. A really fun drive/walk, enjoying all locations, and no trouble with any finds. Gotta catch ‘em all!

After an early (!!!) morning breakfast OHC, GT37, Papi4506 and I set off to follow the goldfields trail and surrounding caches.
Looked at the wrong tree for this one! Once we were are the right spot it was a quick find.
Thanks GemmaSistema for the cache.

Found with PapaGrouch and SciFiRulz as Nicnax3. Finished off the series today by walking the track, the scenery is beautiful and the track good for the most part. Many thanks for the series. TFTC
Found as Nicnax with PapaGrouch and MazzyMay. Back today to finish off the Goldfields Track (Eureka) series. A pleasant day for a walk through the forest collecting caches. This was the last of the caches. Thanks GemmaSistema we have enjoyed our adventuring over the last couple of days completing this series. TFTC
Out with Bogonghazy for a rare day of caching, and a walk and drive along the Goldfields Track seemed just right for the day, albeit a bit hot. Managed to get most of the caches and an enjoyable day was had with lots of laughs and a couple of swims for bree. Sorry about the generic logs but there is too many to remember. Thanks for all your efforts Gemma, in placing these for us to find.
Out for the day with Sorceysal (And Bree the GeoDog) to attempt to do this popular series. Not the best day to be walking 10km in the heat, but it's always justified when you do such a great series.
My sincere thanks GemmaSistema, another easy find with great hints and coords.

The weather forecast was for rain, but it looked like it would hold off for a while, so rather than sit at home I loaded up the push bike and headed out to find some caches.. I was able to find all that I looked for. In general the co-ordinates were pretty good and the hides were in good condition. I only had to use the hint for a couple. All were found and signed within a few minutes of arrival. Some spotted before getting off the bike, a few after a few minutes of walking in circles.
Had a great afternoon out, with 38 finds added to the tally. Apologies, but that does mean I'm using a generic log for each of them.
Spotted large wallaby, heard lots of kookaburra's, and saw only a few other people.
Thanks for bringing me here.

Went out this way with the dog to find a cache on Christmas eve, which I`ve never done before.
Nice easy walk to Gz, with a quick find. While we were here, we had a look at the remains of mining that happened here a long time ago. Cigc. Tftc

Out with the deadly treadlies to do a bit of the Goldfields trail with BettyBoo3747.
We also collected a few caches, and tried a couple of AdLabs.
Parked the vehicle at Black Swan and unloaded the deadly treadlies.
A strange track for bikes. The first part had been filled with rocks about 100mm diameter, which makes it treacherous for riding.
They seemed to use this fill in random sections of the trail.
We also saw what you meant about slippery tracks! Not today, but you can see the gouging of the wet trail by heavier vehicles.
Apart from all that, it was heaps of fun to ride (even the single track Libby!)
We worked our way up to where the walking track splits from the bike track.
We then did the return trip by road (which was half the distance!)
A great collection of caches, and thanks heaps for the clues as the GPSr was bouncing so much, it would have taken us ages to wait for it to settle.
Thanks, Robmc.

#17619. With a cooler day forecast and wanting a bit of a change from a lot of AdLabs Robmc and I decided on a mountain bike ride on the Goldfields Track starting at White Swan Road and heading towards Creswick. We also did the Sunday Stroll Series (not ideal for a heavy electric MB, with an old, non-adrenalin junkie rider).
Dear oh dear - I think I have been too spoilt up there in the North East with such good surfaces on the Rail Trails. This was not quite what I was expecting today. Right at the start huge rocks that I had to walk over and then random sections of the same stuff along the way. Fallen trees, deep ruts from 4 x 4s, water, and more of the same, plus the very narrow section along the water race.
Fortunately all the logs are waterproof paper because the sistemas that are not perfectly square seem to be letting in a lot of water. I have found this with my own caches. We did use the hints when they were available to keep us moving along (as we weren't sure exactly how far we were going to go before the track split into walking and cycling.
I was very happy to reach our turnaround point and belt back at good speeds on the roads.
Thanks GemmaSistema

I teamed up with The_Tritonz here to tackle this series. We all enjoyed our time in this area and luckily we were just finishing up when the rain started. Thanks GemmaSistema for placing and maintaining.
We set out with wozzle68 to complete the Goldfield Track trial today armed with a bike for the fit Triton and the car for woz and myself. We thoroughly enjoyed the journey through the bush with the caches taking us to some amazing locations with changing scenery. Being a Saturday we had to contend with gold fossickers trail bike riders and campers but that didn't deter us from our goal of completing the series. Its amazing how many people take advantage of this beaut location.
At one time when the track got narrow there might have been a slight mishap but we won't talk about that lol The hills were plentiful but that made for some great views.
Did we mention the flat tyre? The subie decided it had too much air in one of the tyres and wanted to take a break [:o]
The various hides were quickly found with the help of good hints making for a pleasurable caching outing.
Thanks GemmaSistema for the mammoth effort put into this series we had a ball today.

We had a bit of an issue with the track being very degraded at Track Change and even if I had a 4X4 with good ground clearance, I wouldn't give that bit a go without some sort of recovery plan, we then found an alternate way to get back around to where we left off.
A few easy ones first before we got back onto the shity little tracks.

Find #4558
Traditional Find #2847**
I headed out with Steve to return to Creswick where we'd made a start on finding caches a fortnight ago. The day was warm and overcast and the Creswick State Forest quite crowded for a forest. Campers at every available campsite along with metal detectorists and gold panners all try their luck.
We had no DNF's but the track was quite a lot rougher than we had anticipated and on a few occasions, elected to park the car and walk. Steve did a brilliant job of piloting his Subaru along the tracks but there were a few places which we beyond the capabilities of any SUV.

Thanks GemmaSistema, this is a brilliant series that highlights the Goldfields Trail. The caches of appropriate size are very well stocked and the hints are spot on. We are really looking forward to this series being extended. Caching with Alansee today.
Found with McLookers on a great day for a walk in an interesting part of Victoria. This is a very good series which we enjoyed - alll caches were found thanks to good coords and good hints.

Eureka! A day of drive'n, ride'n, slipp'n and slide'n, mostly while the sun was shine'n.
We have driven to and from the towns linked by the track countless times over many years. It was fascinating to be off road amongst such a variety of terrain and vegetation.
Our thanks to 'GemmaSistema' for creating this fabulous trail.

We didn't get the chance to go away for the long weekend so stayed local.
This is a beautiful area to explore at this time of year as there is a lot of fungi and nice colors to spot in the bush on the trail.
Nice easy cache to find which is good on a trail too.
Thanks for the hide here.

Out enjoying another section of this fabulous new geotrail, on a bright winters afternoon. Many thanks GemmaSistema.
What was I thinking? It was fine here at Bacchus when I departed but at Creswick the weather closed in and I became very wet and the car quite muddy. Yes it became very slippery. A good warning to any who tackle this set in the winter, Gemma.
I used the clues provided. They proved to be very handy in the forest especially with the overcast weather.
Nice to have a happy face on this group now.

Decided I would try for a few more before heading home. Thought this would be better but it was still too wet with inched of water underfoot.

The fifth of a very welcome 7 {ftf} along this great track. I walked a short distance along the track from the creek crossing. This was as far as I would walk for now. Time to retrace back to car and move it forward. Beautiful caching conditions. Should be hard at work at home but I am not!!
