Lovely descriptions for this series, and reminds us of a book that we read in our childhood.
I think we possibly also watched a Disney movie, based on the novel many years ago also.
Log signed.

#5 of this morning's Uriarra trek. Signed as PIMP. Lid cracked but contents ok. Not needs maintenance as the guardian tree is very kindly protecting the interior. Thanks for the journey DARKSIDEDAN.

In the spirit of reconciliation we would like to acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of country on which we geocache throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community. We (the pants people) pay our respects to their Elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.

As I approached GZ I spied the likely hidey-hole up ahead. But simultaneously stumbled over the cache itself which was out in the open near my feet. The log is very damp but I managed to etch my name onto it (attached). I placed back under the rocks in the tree hollow which is where I guess it must once have resided. TFTC DSD.

DRT and I had just finished setting up the Rally Stage for Recce tomorrow and noticed this one 20m from the Geomobile as we we made our way out so a quick dash up to GZ and a quick find on a smaller than expected cache - TFTC

Out with JuSoJaRa doing some rally Recce for the week ahead and had seen a nearby new cache had only just been found 30 mins before we made our way up here but we were lucky enough to park about 40m from GZ before continuing along with our duties

A terrific morning out with Albida33, kittykatch, joolay, aykayem, tankengine, turtle284, & dty73. Perfect weather for it. Lots of exercise up and down the hills. Certainly the trickiest part was the walk back to the car. Great to get a patch of smilies in this area. TFTC.

And we got it! Yay!!

Out for a day hiking in the forest with fitzy_1965, albida33, cosmonaut97, Minniek & Aykayem. This was my first time exploring the area and I was surprised to see the many treasures it had to offer. Huge thank you to everyone who shared the load carrying the epic TOTT. So cumbersome and yet so essential to our success today. As best we could we cleared out the caches around the homestead and the Mountain Creek rd entrance. A satisfying day!!

Headed into Sherwood Forest today with fitzy_1965, albida33, cosmonaut97, nibletricecakes & Aykayem.

We weren't sure how many caches we would get as the weather seemed to be closing in on us. But after a short shower, the day soon fined up.

I trudged my way up this hill whilst others walked a bit faster. I got there in the end but hope not to have to come back any time soon.

All caches were found quickly and easily unless otherwise stated.

Canberra Day Long weekend Day 3. Sherwood Forest. Today it was supposed to be a group assault on Sherwood Forest. In the end a group of six caches met up at Brindabella rd and East West Rd to head in. Cosmonaut97, Firtzy_1965, MinnieK, Nibblericecakes & Akyem and I drove in to the gate closest to the old home stead and we walked from there. Ladder in hand. The multi was first, then a few blackberry surrounded caches and then the hike up the valley to get out via the Multi GZ. The second area for the day was from Mountain Creek road, with a climb up the hill finishing the where-i-go and another ladder cache.

Thanks for the cache DARKSIDEDAN

23,785. Found with minniek, albida33, cosmonaut97, nibletricecakes and Aykayem during a fun run through the forest.

Having completed part 1 of our forest caching plan we headed back out to Brindabella Road and then along Mountain Creek Road where we parked and headed up along the trail - TOTT in hand(s). The caches are nicely spaced along here to allow for breathers, but the last 50m or so to some of them can be killers ! Up we went to this one for a quick find by albida. Signed the log (F65 MK A33 C97 NRC AKM), replaced the cache as found, then proceeded to the next one on the list.

Thanks DSD !! Nice to read about the 'real' Robin Hood legends rather than the Hollywood rubbish.

A great blue sky day spent exploring the realms of Sherwood Forest

04-Feb-21
Out for a morning walk with the GeoPup before it got too hot. I'd not been to Sherwood Forest before so this was a brief reconnaissance ahead of some more substantial exploration.

Lots of parking off Mountain Creek Rd, then a trudge up the fire trail to the saddle before heading up to grab a couple of newer TE caches at the top of a hill. The grass isn't too bad off track here, only about knee high, but to the north of Sherwood Rd there is lots and lots of blackberry to add some interest to the walk.

This cache was found quickly in the obvious spot and in good condition. Thanks, DSD - most enjoyable.

Spent the morning walking around Sherwood Site collecting caches along the way. Been in the area many times however this is the first time I have approached it via Mountain Creek Road. TFTC.

Half-way up now we were lured into the tree-line by gentle singing. We never spotted where the music was coming from, but saw a flash of a sword in tree's. The merry men must be around today... (TFTC, TSLS)

Cache 6339 on 19 Jul 2020.

Out on a mission in Sherwood Forest with Fox in Jox, TikvaNZ, ZQX and Noikmeister for some of the way. We were a band a merry....people? Anyway, we got started early as some of us had other places to be by lunchtime so I got to catch an awesome sunrise on my drive out on Uriarra road. We car-pooled off Mountain Creek road to reduce cars on the narrower tracks and to grab the first few caches of interest. Then we drove back and walked along the track to grab quite a few other interesting caches. A great morning of exercise with lots of fantastic views and good chit chat along the way.

Seventh of the day. The walk along the track was pretty easy, with gentle ascent. Quick find.

Thanks DARKSIDEDAN for the cache and the fun!

A plan was hatched with Loci612, ALL7 and the CO to go and find some TE caches and also place a few. Well we ended up placing more than we found on the day.
There were lots of laughs, blackberries and wild mushrooms and great weather.

Thanks for the fun DSD it was a great day out in the fresh air.

Quick and easy find in the scrub up off the road. TFTC DARKSIDEDAN.

**Our Day**
We had another fabulous day in the office despite both our Plans 'A' & 'B' being foiled by bad weather early morning. A favourite point on the 'The Major Oak Tree' multicache for today’s DSD caches. An enjoyable 10.8km return walk over 5.8hours with 403m ascent/descents.

For Plan 'A' we were to be heading out very early to hike Tidbinbilla Mtn. and beyond. However, thunder and continuous rain around 5am made it too risky to start. Plan 'B' was hiking up Corin Road, Square Rock end, for short climbs however with rain and now forecasted strong westerly winds was risky with burnt out trees swinging in the breeze.

Plan 'C' was hatched early morning. A stroll to and around Sherwood Forest. While we were not keen to go back here again so soon there were sufficient caches to lure us along and provide the exercise regime wanted.

A crisp start from Sherwood Road, off Mountain Creek Road. With a perfect circuit of caches heading to and back from Sherwood Forest we headed off rugged up ready for bad weathers. Before long we were toasty warm as we repeatedly climbed up off road to each cache. By the time we made it to the other side of the hill the sun was out in earnest and the temperature perfect.

It’s clear that the drought has taken its toll on the gum trees on a large scale on the hill and the soil dry despite the recent rains. On the flat the ground is soggy underfoot and in places flowing and sometimes pooling. Sadly there are plenty of blackberries where the water flows.

After 'walking the plank' we came back to Sherwood Forest for lunch and enjoyed the beautiful weather, flowing streams and flowering bulbs (Jonquils for now). Plenty of lovely birds and kangaroos enjoyed. Then headed back to the car via the remaining cache trail.

Found at 10:38:00 AM

I seems I will be spending my weekends in here for the next while. I wonder when they will stop. Today I grabbed a dog and went for a jog. Jogging up the track now and the extra 30 metres up hill to get the cache was a killer, twice.

Thanks DARKSIDEDAN

Yabba Dabba Doo *FTF* at 10:25pm! Big GrinBig GrinBig Grin

I joined in quite late into the run on the new FTFs and I was not quite expecting to do this many hikes this hour of the night at the time I left, but one let to the other and they were in the area or on the way home so I ended up pending a good 3h on the hunt on a really quite warm night. It was beautiful, a longer hike and 3 shorter once let to 5 FTFs. I saw 2 wombats while walking which was nice as I don't see them too often. Overall a very enjoyable time, though some company would have made it even better (although might have scared away the wombats:)

Since I was already out here and the two caches up in Sherwood were close to a fire trail, even if it was a little ways in it didn't look too bad but like a nice hike for in the dark. Only problem I was nerves about my new flashlight not sure if it would last as it did bail after a bit over an hour the other night on a full charge (but had my phone and watch for emergency). All went well and I was much quicker that I anticipated. Almost 5k in under an hour with the quick finds in both places, overall a 100m accent too. I saw a second Wombat just past the first cache. Took the lower road to the second cache which was the easiest and most direct.

I am looking forward to come back and go to the top and see it all in daylight as you get a nice but very different experience at night. Much more focused on the ground in front of you - I hardly noticed the incline if you don't see ahead and focus on the ground, till I came back down and was surprise how steep it was.

Thank you DARKSIDEDAN for putting the cache out and maintaining it.

**This Cache:**

A short but steep climb up from the main trail, makes a good muggle-free spot for a cache hide, especially when it is regular in size! Another good one out this way, thanks DSD

**Placement:**

I was present in the placement of this cache during a multi-month expedition of planned out hides with DARKSIDEDAN. Many caches were hidden over the course of several months, and the listings were slowly brainstormed and created during a time when no caches were being published. I have logged this find on the date I was at the GZ location. Many of these date's I also found older caches hidden by other CO's which have been previously logged.

I hope everyone also enjoy's some of the challenging caches and unique locations that were picked out, as well as those that are more accessible, it was great to hide a multitude of types to accomodate to the way's people enjoy to cache!

Thanks DSD for allowing me to assist! And well done on the huge effort you go to in hiding caches and keeping our community active! Big Grin
