Find#5625Nice hiding place What a beautiful day to be in the BrindabellasThanks for the cache
Day 2 in this area.
The weather was so much better today, and it made the walk absolutely beautiful in this historic area. Having spent some time around the Sherwood Homestead area, we took a walk uphill and found this one at the start of the uphill section.
The container was wet, but we have dried it off, and it is all good to go again.
A lovely series exploring this area.
Thanks Darksidedan

A terrific morning out with Albida33, kittykatch, joolay, aykayem, tankengine, turtle284, & dty73. Perfect weather for it. Lots of exercise up and down the hills. Certainly the trickiest part was the walk back to the car. Great to get a patch of smilies in this area. TFTC.
#1953 Not that I’m counting but this was the 9th find for the Sherwood Scavenger group this morning. Which witch?
After visiting the station and site we were looking for a weir and this one popped up in between. An easy find with another possibly more interesting (no sledge on the cache) discovery a few metres down the road. A length of snake without a head and with maybe raptor puncture marks in the remaining bit.
Anyway TFTC DSD and the whom.

Today I walked an 8km circuit around this part of the forest collecting caches I wasn't able to get to on my last trip a couple of months ago. After parking off Mountain Creek Rd I trundled up the Sherwood Road Fire trail before heading to the south, then eventually looping back to the east, up Dowling hill and then back to the car.
An easy walk from the nearby Sherwood Site cache, glad to be blackberry free. Cache was found without issue at GZ and in good condition.
Thanks, DSD.

What to do with a day off and beautiful weather? Go caching of course! Today's plan was to mop up as many of these great DSD and TE caches while exploring a very empty sherwood forest, hopefully pushing over the 200 mark today! This was the first cab off the rank, easy find, everything in good condition, onto the next! TFTC.
Finally made it to the Sherwood site! Have been meaning to visit for ages but something else has always come up. This was a quick grab on the way in. We came from the east-west road. TFTC
Grabbed on my return walk. Cache found all OK. The nearby creek was taped off, but managed to jump across OK.
Thanks,
Thanks,
Gotcha! Another one in the bag

Out for a day hiking in the forest with fitzy_1965, albida33, cosmonaut97, Minniek & Aykayem. This was my first time exploring the area and I was surprised to see the many treasures it had to offer. Huge thank you to everyone who shared the load carrying the epic TOTT. So cumbersome and yet so essential to our success today. As best we could we cleared out the caches around the homestead and the Mountain Creek rd entrance. A satisfying day!!

Headed into Sherwood Forest today with fitzy_1965, albida33, cosmonaut97, nibletricecakes & Aykayem.
We weren't sure how many caches we would get as the weather seemed to be closing in on us. But after a short shower, the day soon fined up.
All caches were found quickly and easily unless otherwise stated.

Canberra Day Long weekend Day 3. Sherwood Forest. Today it was supposed to be a group assault on Sherwood Forest. In the end a group of six caches met up at Brindabella rd and East West Rd to head in. Cosmonaut97, Firtzy_1965, MinnieK, Nibblericecakes & Akyem and I drove in to the gate closest to the old home stead and we walked from there. Ladder in hand. The multi was first, then a few blackberry surrounded caches and then the hike up the valley to get out via the Multi GZ. The second area for the day was from Mountain Creek road, with a climb up the hill finishing the where-i-go and another ladder cache.
Thanks for the cache DARKSIDEDAN

23,780. Found with minniek, albida33, cosmonaut97, nibletricecakes and Aykayem (my Merry Men and Women) during an expedition to Sherwood Forest.
A large group of merry men and women became a smaller band, but we persevered and carried out our mission - clear out around Sherwood Station (in my case for the third time). Parked at an appropriate gate and walked down towards the deepest darkest part of the forest lugging our TOTT for the harder caches. This was the next cache on the list. A nice quick find once at GZ. Signed the log (F65 MK A33 C97 NRC AKM), replaced the cache as found, then proceeded to the next one on the list.
Thanks DSD !!

After today's event I was going to head south over the border into Victoria, but that plan was quashed when they shut the border. So plan B was some local caching involving a walk. Sherwood forest drew the short straw. After a steady walk up from the car parking on Mountain Creek Road then finding two TE caches north of the road, I dropped down to the three remaining caches I still hadn't found. Getting to here from the previous one through the blackberries required lots of use of the secateurs I had thankfully brought along. Pleased to hit he road. A quick find once at GZ. Then a steady walk back to the car. Approximately 2.5 hours all up. TFTC.

TFTC Out for a spot of caching with The Farmers 5 today, this was a quick easy find. Thanks to the CO for placing and maintaining this cache.
Spent the morning walking around Sherwood Site collecting caches along the way. Been in the area many times however this is the first time I have approached it via Mountain Creek Road. TFTC.
As our aim was the daffodils, and a bit of a bike around, only collected a couple of caches, not a tree climber either. This one, perched above a 'roo depository, was a bit on the nose. Managed to not poke out an eye on retrieval and same on return. TFTC DSD
Out in Sherwood Forest plundering caches from the rich to feed the poor. This cache was found quickly and without issue. Signed and replaced before heading onto the next. TNLNSL TFTC
An afternoon expedition to Sherwood Forest. Parked at a closed gate then a 1 km hike to the nearest cache which was a quick find. Then off up the hill. TFTC DSD
Tankengine, Aquilus1 and I decided to pick up a few of the newer caches out here. As always the company was awesome and the location was great, the caches has good points and bad points as always with these hides.
As we were walking right past this one first we stopped by for a quick find. Tftc DARKSIDEDAN!!!

DTY73, Aquilus1 and I had some time today, so decided to clean out a couple of caches we needed! We started at the Molonglo River and ended up here. I have been to Sherwood forest many times (indeed - I was the first to hide a cache in here), but it's a wonderful place. The cache was found easily. Thanks for the wonderful company dty73 and Aquilus1, and thanks for the cache DSD.
A plan was hatched with Loci612, ALL7 and the CO to go and find some TE caches and also place a few. Well we ended up placing more than we found on the day.
There were lots of laughs, blackberries and wild mushrooms and great weather.
Thanks for the fun DSD it was a great day out in the fresh air.
(Sorry finally getting around to logging these Sherwood caches.)

A quick pickup on our way home. Since when do rocks grow in trees? A wriggle between sprawling branches and the cache was soon in hand. TFTC DARKSIDEDAN.
**Our Day**
We had another fabulous day in the office despite both our Plans 'A' & 'B' being foiled by bad weather early morning. A favourite point on the 'The Major Oak Tree' multicache for today’s DSD caches. An enjoyable 10.8km return walk over 5.8hours with 403m ascent/descents.
For Plan 'A' we were to be heading out very early to hike Tidbinbilla Mtn. and beyond. However, thunder and continuous rain around 5am made it too risky to start. Plan 'B' was hiking up Corin Road, Square Rock end, for short climbs however with rain and now forecasted strong westerly winds was risky with burnt out trees swinging in the breeze.
Plan 'C' was hatched early morning. A stroll to and around Sherwood Forest. While we were not keen to go back here again so soon there were sufficient caches to lure us along and provide the exercise regime wanted.
A crisp start from Sherwood Road, off Mountain Creek Road. With a perfect circuit of caches heading to and back from Sherwood Forest we headed off rugged up ready for bad weathers. Before long we were toasty warm as we repeatedly climbed up off road to each cache. By the time we made it to the other side of the hill the sun was out in earnest and the temperature perfect.
It’s clear that the drought has taken its toll on the gum trees on a large scale on the hill and the soil dry despite the recent rains. On the flat the ground is soggy underfoot and in places flowing and sometimes pooling. Sadly there are plenty of blackberries where the water flows.
After 'walking the plank' we came back to Sherwood Forest for lunch and enjoyed the beautiful weather, flowing streams and flowering bulbs (Jonquils for now). Plenty of lovely birds and kangaroos enjoyed. Then headed back to the car via the remaining cache trail.

Yabba Dabba Doo *FTF* with Aquilus1!
Lots of caches left from the afternoon, while TE was still cleaning out the Sherwood forest caches there was one not so far from home and one more potential candidate close to Uriarra, so I gave Aquilus a ring to see if she was up for it and together we meet at the first cache and continued together from there. It was a very fun and much longer night outing than planned, thanks for the great company!
We were already half way to Uriarra when our goal to find the puzzle there was snatched away. Now what going home? Had TE cleaned out all? It didn't seem to be that way and since I knew the area and expected to get within easy walking distance of the two Sherwood caches we continued on.
Oh yes the Wombats along the trails where nice, one was sitting there not moving for quite some time blocking our way, we were in no rush and loved looking at it. Another looked very different and quite black, which made us wander how many species there are of wombats or why they would differ.
We had scouted out the closest gate to this cache on the way in and since the other caches was no closer, we came back here with the car and did our second night walk. Very enjoyable in the company and another lovely night walk with a cache find at the end was had.
Thank you DARKSIDEDAN for putting the cache out and maintaining it.

I seems I will be spending my weekends in here for the next while. I wonder when they will stop. Today I grabbed a dog and went for a jog. This cache was the first one I found.

*FTF* 12.35am with Flintstone's.
A late night FTF hunt but I have always enjoyed night caching so after a few messages with Flintstones we made the decision to meet at the carpark off Coppins Crossing to search for a new cache there first. I arrived a little earlier which was just the few minutes needed for the people already there enjoying the great outdoors time to return to their cars and the little fire they had going, very tranquil.
After we returned back to the cars we left mine safely locked in the company of the ones already there and continued on with Flintstone's driving. We had a few options of where we could go but with two new ones out in Sherwoods a night time forest walk had appeal. Indeed it was a lovely peaceful walk on another very unusually warm winters night.
Many wombats out and a very interesting black one made its way across the road along the way, another decided that the road was a good place to stop and pretend we were not right there. It was rather cute though and amusing to watch! Although I have been out this way once before I wasn't that familiar but Flintstones knew it better and we made our way along the tracks to the gates easily.
Having made it out of the maze successfully we made our way back to the car and to this cache. Again another locked gate and another shortish walk to the cache... approx 2km return. All along trail and all easy enough with just enough up at some point, usually back up to the car to know the hill was hiding in the dark! Thanks for the cache DSD and thanks to Flintstones for the company and driving.

**This Cache:**
Hiked around Sherwood Forest with DSD, FurfacesLL and ALL7, placing and finding a couple caches in this unique area!
A nice easy one here, we were following the track and ALL7 pointed this spot out to DSD for a potential hide, to which he agreed. We picked out a container from his collection and in it went!
A good one to break up the others in the series, thanks!
---
**Placement:**
I was present in the placement of this cache during a multi-month expedition of planned out hides with DARKSIDEDAN. Many caches were hidden over the course of several months, and the listings were slowly brainstormed and created during a time when no caches were being published. I have logged this find on the date I was at the GZ location. Many of these date's I also found older caches hidden by other CO's which have been previously logged.
I hope everyone also enjoy's some of the challenging caches and unique locations that were picked out, as well as those that are more accessible, it was great to hide a multitude of types to accomodate to the way's people enjoy to cache!
Thanks DSD for allowing me to assist! And well done on the huge effort you go to in hiding caches and keeping our community active!
