With only one day to cache in Ballarat we targeted GCA hides and then a couple of the many Adventure Labs. After doing the prime minister's one we still had a bit of time so decided to tackle this one as well. That's where the fun ended!!There can't be much foliage left here as I think most of it ended up in my hair and down the hood of Mr Beetle's jacket! But we persevered and finally [after over half an hour] found this hide about 3 metres from where our ETrek wanted us to be.Relieved that we had finally found it we decided to finish our caching day on a high note! Thanks nannynomad [I think!]

19-Dec-23
A few spare days to fill before Christmas so I made the decision to hit the road and go on a road trip from Adelaide to Ballarat. The main purpose of the trip is to tackle the Ballarat Geo Tour before they get archived in February 2024. Day four was spent in the heart of Ballarat tackling some caches and Adventure Labs on the main drag. Then to onto the Eastern side of the lake. In the afternoon I went for an excursion out to Skipton to bag a new LGA. I completed the Adventure Labs yesterday but made the physical find today. It took some searching but I eventually found it. Thanks for the cache nannynomad.# # SmileSmile #13840 SmileSmile # #

Today we explored Ballarat and surrounds using geocaching as a guide. We enjoyed travelling through the countryside and visiting new, to us, locations. We found a variety of hides with varying degrees of difficulty. After working through the LAB caches we were rewarded with a set of co-ords that worked for us and adding to our favourites. Many thanks to all CO's for your cache placement.

07-Oct-23
Having attended a recent event in Brisbane where a fellow cacher brought my attention to the geo tour in Ballarat and its up coming finish in February, i knew this was something I had to make an effort to get to.I also quickly realised that the attribute for the geo tour is the last one I need to achieve a personal challenge so the planning began.Today is day two of the mission and Im down to only two more caches to complete the tour and have the local geo art on the radar. I. Also hoping to squeeze a CITO and an event in if time is on my side lets see how we go.I jumped in The geowagon and ventured off the o soon find a nice parking spot. A short stroll later soon found me at ground zero. It wasnt long before cache was found and my name was printed for prosperity. I returned the cache to its hiding space and made my way back to the car. Ready to head to the next adventureA big thanks to the cache owners of Ballarat for making this cache available to be found.Cheers

18-Sep-23
Got 5 days off from work so I decided to come to Ballarat and do the Geo Tour before its gone, also grabbing random caches and Adventures labs along my journey. So thanks to all who have placed caches. Sl cache replaced.

10-Sep-23
A whole four day trip with Aquilus1 to do the GeoTour in Ballarat some caching around Geelong and anything else that looked good on the way.
Weather was ok albeit a bit on the wet side for the first two days.
This cache was one of the ones we had the oportunity to do.
After finishing the AL we grabbed the bonus.

Thank you nannynomad for the nice cache and experience you gave us!

10-Sep-23
Great adventure, Hercules was missing but an online search had us moving forward. Great park!

This cache was one found on a trip away with Flintstone's for 4 days. We had the Geotour in Ballarat as our target, and made our way as far as Queenscliff.

Ballarat caching was a joy, and with the tour, we saw many lovely and interesting locations as well as stopping for many other caches as we passed. Lots of little walks helped with the colder first few days as well as being quite scenic.

A change of weather and scenery towards Queenscliff but the coast was a great place to visit with plenty to do and see. As always, more to do than there was time for, will just have to return one day! Thank you for your cache!

01-Sep-23
A fun weekend away with Davidwazza! TFTC!

01-Sep-23
After completing the Adventure Lab and collecting this bonus cache's final coordinates, we then detoured past this geocache. This cache took 5-10 minutes with searching around, and as I was about to give up, we tried another area and then glanced the cache. The coordinates seem to be between trees and a nearby structure, so it was hard to see where the was. I had the cache a few metres away. The cache container and logbook were in good shape. Thanks nannynomad for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.
Note that this geocache was logged with the *Team Warren* Davidwazza/[jesswrigley](http://coord.info/PRNW59T) stamp.

----------

This extended weekend, [jesswrigley](http://coord.info/PRNW59T), infant Cottontail and I were visiting Ballarat from Brisbane, targeting the [Ballarat GeoTour (GT4A1)](https://coord.info/GT4A1). Highlights included the historical architecture, buildings, and artwork/sculptures of inner Ballarat, Ballarat Botanic Gardens, Lake Wendouree, Sovereign Hill, Eureka Stockade, and mountains Mount Buninyong and Mount Warrenheip. We were lucky to have great weather with no rain and mostly blue skies each day, which aided our enjoyment of our trip. Apart from the targeted GeoTour geocaches, our geocaching has largely been opportunistic following tourist sights and attractions, although we attempted/targeted higher D-T combinations from solved puzzles, and rare cache types like virtual caches, Letterbox Hybrid caches, and Adventure Labs.

Today, the plan was to attack the western geocaches from the [Ballarat GeoTour](https://coord.info/GT4A1) which were some distance away, which involved visits to Miners Rest, Learmonth, and Lake Burrumbeet. We started the day with breakfast in inner-Ballarat, and scoped out the Sturt Street gardens with its sculptures and memorial plaques. During our western drive, it was also an opportunity to visit the Avenue of Honour, as we visited the end and then drove towards the Arch of Victory Memorial in Ballarat.
In the afternoon, we looped around Lake Wendouree and visited the Ballarat Botanical Gardens where infant Cottontail had a play, and we had a nice walk within the vicinity. It was then a final visit to Ballarat central, walking through Bridge Mall and window shopping in the area.

So close to logging a DNF on that one but gave it one more go and voila nabbed the little red sucker

01-Jul-23
After an event nearby I made my way to this GZ.
I had done the AL a month ago and typed in the GZ co-ords incorrectly - the transcribing error meant I was looking in some strange location at a shopping centre.
Back home I double-checked my numbers and the cache page confirmed the error and actual location.
Not that it helped me much this morning - after eliminating the fence I felt like I was looking for a needle in a haystack.
D1.5; many "quick find" logs; just 2 DNFs in exactly 200 finds : I guess that puts me in the special 1% bracket.
Fortunately there's a virtual nearby - hopefully I'll have better luck finding the Tram Museum Smile.

Plenty of laughs and fun were had in Ballarat, catching up with Happy pants and Omegaman1971 for a few days. Our main focus will be the Geo tour, but will take the opportunity to grab any other caches along the way.

This was one of the hides we found after completing the adventure lab, in a lovely area to roam.

Thanks for placing this hide and doing the maintenance, so we can make this find.

Throughly enjoyed the history lesson from the Statue Adventure labs. A lovely day in the Botanic Gardens with everyone enjoying the clear weather before the rains hit. Tftc

20-Apr-23
On our walk through the fantastic botanical garden we were also able to admire these different statues and answer the questions for this LAB-Cache. Some of them were quite tricky for not native english speaking but with a little help from Google-Translater we found the correct answers and got the coordinates for this Bonus Cache.

Even there it took us some minutes until Little-Inegüxle discovered the box.

Regards from Switzerland.

A great lab. Gee there are some beautiful works in there. Anyhow the numbers were crunched and the cache was found in the last place I looked which was not the first.

Found out and about on the 2023 trip for the Rutherglen Mega. Thanks to nannynomad and **clear skies** from TeamAstro. [^] Cache the planet! [^]

12-Mar-23
Our main aim was to visit the Begonia Festival today, but it was extremely crowded so we wandered around for a while, finding the different stages of this adlab before getting an icecream and finding the cache. Amazing how many statues you start to notice once you know they are there! Luckily the conservatory was a lot less crowded on our way back to the car at the end of the day and we managed to wander in to see the amazing displays. TFTC!

I finished the GeoTour nearby in the Botanic Gardens, so what better way to celebrate than an Adventure Lab and this bonus cache.

Thanks, nannynomad. I'm notoriously bad at spotting these little blighters, but managed to spot this one fairly quickly by the light of my phone.

*Dear CO, apologies for the late logging…

Day 1 (full day) in Ballarat with Tankengine and Youban to do the GeoTour mainly, plus a couple of other caches and catch up with caching buddies.

We started at 8am (had done 3 of the tour last night), but finished the rest today by 5pm. Showered and headed to the Robin Hood Hotel for dinner (very yummy) with our caching friends.

The dinner, drinks and conversation was an awesome way to finish a busy, yet productive day of caching.

This cache: A nice AL. I like this type of one. And the bonus was good too. Had to dodge the sprinklers. And the sprinklers won. It’s was actually rather fun. ?? Tftc!!!

Found with mogni, we are supposed to be targeting the nearby geo tour caches but seem to get side tracked on the way. this was one of the many caches that side tracked us. quick find. lab was solved/completed while doing the geo tour
Left with Mogni the day before Christmas to go down to Mount Gambier for Christmas Day. Then on the 27th left for Victoria. Plan A was to go to the Ottway Rangers, complete the Geo tour in Ballarat and then head to Geelong and take the Queenscliff ferry over to Sorrento then grabbing new LGA's on route to almost the New South Wales/Victoria border and the old 2001 cache near there. Also attending a community day event, a CITO and a couple of other events as well. Then head in to the high country and come back to SA in 11 days. Things didn't go to plan. Turns out that one of my almost new tyres was defective ( side wall blown out ) and blew in the ottway ranges on a narrow road in the rainforest, Drove to Melton to stay overnight and get a new tyre there, tyre machine broken and the other 5 tyre companies not open so off to geelong for a new tyre ( and some caches on the way and in geelong ) . The event we where going to attend in geelong didn't turn out, he was late by ALOT to his own event. Then to ballarat to same day since we had a b&b booked for the next few nights. Planned on getting the ferry at 1200 and ended up on the 400 pm ferry but we did attend a event and CITO in geelong. Then we drive into the rear end of a thunder storm with forecast 20 mm dropping for the next few days. Cancel the high country and change targets to letterbox D/T for fizzy grid only using letterboxes and same wirh the multi fizzy grid plus fizzy grid only using victorian caches plus any challenge caches we where near. Plus getting a few more victorian 2001 caches. And finally any caches that had 40 more more favourite points. Only got soaked to the bone for a couple of days but the water on the tracks was noticeable. On the return home tried to get the rest of the missing LGA's around the Melbourne CBD i missed in the last mega. Still a fun trip was had if not the planned one.

29-Dec-22
On a Christmas Holiday with sir_spectre, visiting family in Mount Gambier and then on to Victoria to visit some new places as well as some old haunts.

iTEEM is in Ballaarat for a couple of days for a family function, and some team members took the opportunity to find some caches.
We completed the AdLab yesterday, but a search of where the app told me GZ was yielded nothing.
My temperamental third party app decided to cooperate this morning, and placed GZ a little way off on the map.
With the sharper eyes of the younger members of iTEEM to help, the cache was soon found and the log signed.

Goldy and Geo4Jimmy are off on another adventure to Ballarat for the GeoTour, intending to complete the whole thing in our short stay.

I didn't know Australia had one to be completely honest, so I appreciate the buisness card I was given at the Blair Athol Breakfast event.

Thanks for going to the effort to prepare, hide and submit this geocache for me to find, another smiley for my geomap.

A big shoutout to those who put together this GeoTour, as well as all the other cache owners who placed a cache and/or adventure lab we found while on our journey.

Thanks to the cache owners who do regular maintenance checks to ensure other players have an enjoyable experience when out in the field.

We returned today after not being able to come here last night after closing time. It's such a beautiful place to visit, so glad we came in the daylight. Wow!! what an adventure we had here today, we discovered that there were a couple of lab caches to complete, visited beautiful garden beds, stood under massive trees for shelter from hail, discovered new knowledge on prime ministers, and Stoddart Statues. What beautiful artistic carvings.
With cache signed and replaced we were off to continue our adventures on the geotour. TCTC
We started off with a brisk 5° feels like 4° start to the morning with very gusty winds, hoping the rain stays away. Wow what an amazing place to visit, the geo-tour is bringing us to some amazing places that I would never had seen if not for the tour. Thanks.

scramping and I arrived in Ballarat yesterday from the Whittlesea Mega event with one mission in mind, the Ballarat GeoTour. With all the caches from the tour completed, with the exemption of 4 that we couldn't get to, we turned on the rest of the map to continue caching around Ballarat.

The Botanical Gardens are lovely. It was nice wandering around the garden visiting all the statues, that is, until it started hailing. We ran to the biggest leafiest pine tree we could find to shelter us as we were not near any man made structures when it happened. We huddled beside the big trunk as the small hailstones got us. I was very glad they were small. Between the rain & hail we moved around the gardens until we had completed all the questions & got the bonus cache co-ordinates.
Off to the final location and after a short search the cache was found.
Thanks for the Adventure and the cache, nannynomad Smile

Found this while attending the Whittlesea mega.
Depending on the log size and who I was with this is signed as nikid1, ND1 or TQ5 (team Queensland).

The group of us from the north decided to spend a day in Ballarat as we were all after different DTs, attributes and a lovely geoart (as I love Christmas) that we could get here.

Ballarat is such a lovely town. Such beautiful gardens and architecture that you don’t find up north.

Somehow we missed this ad lab while walking through the garden but that didn’t matter just another lap. Our step count is well and truely up today. Enjoyed the lab. Took a bit to find the cache but we got it in the end.

Whittlesea Mega Wobble and Wade Tour: Day 3: More Ballarat Geotour then off to Geelong. Surprised

Once again myself and Anymules were in Victoria on our way to a Mega event. Wink Having spent all day yesterday juggling GPS and phone to try and do caches and labs simultaneously we fell well short of finishing the tour. Surprised So it was well into the afternoon before we left for Geelong. Cool Once in Geelong it was a time to walk to get some caching down there too. Big Grin Many caches were found and unless something stood out these will be generic logs. Cool

Even with a hint from a previous finder this took quite a while to find. Smile

***Thanks nannynomad for putting out this cache and maintaining it for our enjoyment. *** Big Grin
