While attending a motor home rally at the sports ground I found time to go looking for a geocache or two. After a hot walk in the afternoon sun this was a quick find in the expected place TFTC GeoVenture2020

And I'm living the past.So with some time off work, I've jumped the border wall to chase down some long trails in South Aussie... don't know how many I'll get. But I've got quite a few downloaded. I do have a short hit list ( of 2) caches to help with a challenge. All others are just for the Adventure and countryside views. Armed with all the necessary TOTT from tweezers and magnet grab to 6m ladder and 8m fishing pole. I believe I'm prepared for all that I'll come across. (Just had to leave the Kayak at home )Day 7. Naracoorte to HomeA day to take in the sites of the Naracoorte area before jumping back over the border. To head for home. Grabbing the odd cache along the way. TFTC GeocachingSA

After completing a personal challenge in SA of finding 10,000 physical caches there we are now heading from Beachport back to Portland aiming to grab a couple of caches along the way on roads not normally traveled if the weather permits.We aren't sure about Mary, Mary being quite contrary but the weather certainly was. We were traveling between heavy rain drizzle and sunshine. Happily it was only drizzling when we pulled up here and we had a fair idea of where the container might be so it was just a matter of adding our name to the log.Thanks again for the cache.

Found at 1:38 PM GAFF1.Don't understand why this cache appears in my GSAK data base with all of the source code! Makes it hard to know what to say We went past Miss Mary yesterday as we were heading to the Reserve camp and Cat said - that's where it will be. So today we head over any yep that's where it was, but the top is detached and it was just lying in the platform rather than in the standard hiding spot for these cache locations - so we rectified the situation [[^]Thanks to GeocachingSA

Forgot to mention the log book was very soggy on 11/9, so replaced it with a single piece of paper from a notebook placed inside a small zip log bag - a left over from covid test packaging!

Little man loved this one

This geocacher reported that there is a problem with this cache.

Suscoe was heading to Nelson today, it was a cool start at Murray Bridge and travelling through Keith the temperature dropped to around 3 degrees. But the sun came through and it ended up a lovely later Winter’s day. Our caching destination was Penola with Adventure Labs, Multis and Traditionals on our list.
Penola is a delightful little town with interesting history around every corner.
Thanks to GeoVenture2020 for this hide. The log is sodden from the rain. Needs replacing.

TFTC GeocachingSA for your cache Miss Mary. We are campe in Penola for the next week. Arriving today we went out after lunch to attempt the caches in and around town. We found all the caches we attempted, leaving a couple to do later in the week.

Moving on with my 7 days SA / VIC trip. Day 2 had me travelling from Portland, VIC to Tanunda, SA. I visited a lot of new places and it was a long day but I loved it.

I wanted some lunch so ducked into Penola but overshot the bakery so ended up here. A quick find after making sure no creepy crawlies were on it.

Ducked back and got some lunch, sausage roll was mediocre.

TTBLNSL TFTC/TFTH/TFBUH - GeoVenture 2020 [^]

Today was another big day with the aim of finding 11 cache types in a day, but we weren't sure how we would go as the weather in Millicent was bad, cold, wet and windy! After meeting Doctor Owl in Millicent we set off on our day and thankfully didn't get too wet and by the time we reached Penola we had sunshine and blue skies. [^]
After a long day we achieved our goal and ended the day at the Carpenter Rocks Tavern for a lovely hot meal before going back to the accommodation to get warm and dry.

Had a lovely drive/walk around Penola gathering info for the Adventure Labs and finding a few caches along the way. Really enjoyed all the old buildings along Petticoat Lane.

Doctor Owl had already found this one but she stopped so I could put my stamp in the log.

Sunday. Today's target was to get to Penola for the Celebrating in Penola event and the Plant a Tree- Greenrise CITO event plus a few targeted higher terrian caches and of course any others we passed. The adventure lad caches where also done in Penola even though they weren't on the plan. The weather today was filled with rain off and on but that didn't stop me and Mogni. I was glad we had the 4x4 instead of Mogni car for the trip.

Onwards and upwards on the next 1000. Caching around Millicent during the GV2020 Mega Event. TFTC ?? ??

The weather is even more miserable but nothing was going to dampen our spirits, today’s mission was to finish boiling a giant crayfish ?? ??

Fueled up on delicious egg & bacon sangas, drinks and snacks stashed, we were on our way.

Along the way we kept our eyes peeled and managed to tick off a few trads and add some more smileys to our map.

Thanks to the many hands and minds putting together these series for the long awaited event.

SA Mega weekend with sir_spectre, a huge weekend of catchups and hunting geocaches. At different times over the 5 day weekend we joined up with other teams caching as either the misfits or mystery randoms depending on the numbers of people and who organised.
Unfortunately the weather was very typical of the south east and put many teams off exporing the forests and some great creative caches were only found by a few teams.
For me this was a little bit different than for others as I lived in the south east for 15 years and worked in Penola, Millicent and Mount Gambier. Strangely this also meant I kept running into people I knew each day.
Lots of wildlife seen, wombats, echidnas, snakes, kangaroos and wallabies. Luckily the snakes in particular kept leaving the paths as we were walking.

Found it on a stop on the way home.

With murmurings of more covid-19 community transmissions and the possible need for another lockdown in Queensland, I decided to high-tail it out of there and found myself in South Australia earlier than expected to attend the Mega Event in Millicent After a week in Adelaide, it was time to pick up a little camper van and explore further afield. The Barossa Valley was great for a few days followed by some time in Berri and surrounding areas before heading down towards Millicent

After leaving Loxton and completing the Wandering Heroes - Fishy Tales series, I headed to Lameroo for the night. After a good night's sleep, I started the trek down towards Mt Gambier, selecting a few caches along the way to break the journey [^]

The cache was located easily enough and with my name added to the log book, I continued on my way
