Spending some time caching around the NSW/ACT southern tablelands with lots of side trips. TFTC. Today was collecting a lot of Wherigos that were solved a long time ago. I remember there being some interesting and obscure questions.A couple of other caches collected as well.Nice quick grab.
I have geocaching withdrawal.Clearly I can't last too long without it, particularly in the school holidays! All I was thinking about was how productive I COULD be, versus how productive I ACTUALLY was, and the discrepancy that thought presented was enough to turn my mood a little south. For context, it was a Thursday morning last week when I was rushed to the hospital and hobbled into the emergency room in my slippers and South Park oodie. It was 6am. And raining. Lovely.Subsequently, I had all manners of tests conducted and enjoyed a rather nuanced tour of Canberra Hospital. It was only after those tests when they realized I probably belonged on the operating table which is where I soon found myself. While this was happening I was hearing all sorts of craziness going on in school, with rumors of my death being passed around which I found rather amusing I must admit.Anyways, I survived, and now I've been stuck in the house recovering which is making me feel like it's 2020 all over again.Luckily, I floated the idea of power trails/park n grabs to my mother who was happy to accommodate this request. So here I am finishing off the last bit of the CBR series, it's taken me a decent chunk of time to do these! I imagine that's mostly because I don't have access to a car and doing these on a bike is a death wish lol.The whole series went pretty smoothly, as long as you discount some of the dodgy parking! Thanks to Aquilus1 and GreyHams for placing this series!
The weather is okay, but it is a cold day. On the way to the CBR series, turn to stop this cache. Excellent walk on the pathway, a nice one.Nice spotted and signed the log with good dry. TFTM
It was time to get the bikes out again today so onto the back of the car they went as we headed off to the Majura Cycleway. We found a place to park then headed off in the reverse direction. We didn't realize that it was slightly uphill a lot of the way until we turned for the return journey home. Still a good decision as the ride back was easy and even allowed us to divert for a few other caches. There was a variety of hides to keep us guessing, and a couple of quite challenging ones. We awarded a few well deserved favourites. That finished it was off to the CBR Geoart series. These were a bit easier going as there was good space to pull well off the road.Another big day!Thank you for your efforts in creating and maintaining the cache GreyHams.**SKI Pair****
Stopped to do this series over 2 stages since we hit peak hour traffic and a car accident on the first attempt and that made crossing the road to hard. 2nd time travelled down the road on the same side as the caches. quick find. I am trying to get my wherigo count in the ACT to 25 for more.Found with Mogni. Myself and mogni are headed off to canberra on the " I missed the Capital GeoBash Mega " holiday, since last minute family problems came in to play and we had to adjust our plans by a few weeks. On the way over we targeted multi's, wherigo's and puzzles to make sure we had 25 in each or at least close to that total ( or more ) as possible, getting as many new New South Wales LGA's as possible, the 17th most favourite point NSW cache and every cache size in New South Wales. In the ACT it was getting 2 of the 5 oldest letterboxes, oldest wherigo in Australia, 2nd oldest earthcache ( with a side trip to get the oldest earthcache of course ), and ACT oldest cache too. I also hosted a CITO and planned on getting every different cache type i could and eevry different cache size as well. I also needed 9 more virtuals this trip to get my virtual count over 100. Finally canberra was far enough away from from house to complete the well aged well travelled cacher 0 to 1000 kms with a cache every 10 km's ( i only need 7 more caches to complete )Leaving the ACT it was going via Victoria to get there last active web cam cache and slowly getting a total of 20 finds in each LGA i passed through if i had enough time plus also hosting a CITO in Victoria as well. A busy 11 days. Trust me by the end of the holiday you would have thought the 6 meter ladder weighed more than 13 kg's to amount of times it was used or carried up hills or over creeks. If your cache was found with a broken container/lid it was replaced or if the log was full it was replaced or a extra log if the container was big enough ( except for nano's, do your own maintenance on nano's.
Day 7 of mogni and sir_spectre visit the ACT. Today we joined FelixII for a great day of caching. Lots of variety and it was really helpful with some more eagle eyes spotting those pesky micros high in trees. As per normal if a cache needed a bit of love, it got it. Thanks to GreyHams from mogni
Generic log sorry! In Canberra for the Geobash weekend. With presolved wherigos all in a neat line I decided to spend some time this afternoon collecting them. What fun under the flight path near CBR airport. Thanks
This logbook is full after a busy Geobash weekend. Could do with a new one next time youre passing
In Canberra to attend the Capital Geo Bash mega event. I attended the Queanbeyan Mega event a couple of years ago which is when I did a lot of the touristy things. This trip was more focused on Geocaches. There has been an abundance of new high quality caches published since my last visit so more than enough to keep me busy. I really enjoyed solving the CBR Where I Go series. Lots of variations in puzzles both in style and difficulty. Also a great way to present the puzzles embedded in a Where I Go cartridge. All puzzles solved except one. All solved puzzles were found - one of them took two attempts though. The caches in the bush land had some pretty tough terrain to get to. All the more rewarding when the finding the cache. Thank you GreyHams & Aquilus1, for placing CBR #14 for the geocaching community.# # #14442 # #
After returning from a trail and some good hides afterwards, this trail of WIGs and some traditionals was the next journey as we returned to home base. TFTC!Cache 26 of 35Day 2 of 3 Oz Geobash - Caching with @itsonlybarney, @TeamPQS and @JustWanderingAbout
Reperio 15:28Day 4 of our Capital GeoBash mega event trip to Canberra, and Miss Vitruvius and I headed out to tackle some of the more interesting and difficult caches around the state, which included a host of tree climbs, and other small adventures. After spending some time in trees today, we set off for a few Wherigo caches, and it seems we were joined by numerous other mega attendees all doing the same. All the caches were found in quick succession, and in great condition. Gratias GreyHamsAs a well spent day brings happy sleep, a well spent life brings happy death - LDV
Last cache, not quite 5pm so able to get fuel, finalise bag contents and get the hire beeping car back in time to get the plane to Brisbane. Sit around for an extra hour in Brisbane and get to Townsville at midnight, home the next day. Thanks for the caches and CBR wherigo series, logged all but 13.
We had solved most of the puzzles in this Wherigo Series before we left Melbourne. Apologies for some generic logs as most of the finds were straightforward and the containers were similar. Fortunately there was enough room to park on the side of the road which was quite busy this afternoon. Thanks to GreyHams for the cache.
**Total find count: 1391**It's GeoBash Mega weekend!! And nothing better than going geocaching around the nation's capital! for high favourite caches! After returning from a trail and some good hides afterwards, this trail of WIGs and some traditionals was the next journey as we returned to home base. TFTC!
Full time Nomads, travelling around Australia since 2014. Up early this morning for McLookers Breakfast Club Event. After the event off to get coffee and breakfast at the local cafe whilst completing the nearby AL's.The rest of the morning was then spent finding some caches to be able to complete the Mega Space Hunt. Back to camp to finally check out the gadget caches before they disappear. [^]TFTC GreyHams & Aquilus1
Having arrived in Canberra, we headed to the Mega HQ to complete our signing duties and registration, pick up our show bag, and catch up with many old friends; then it was out to taste some of the smorgasbord of caches on offer in the Australian Capital Territory.Day 2 and I was out solo caching. With this in mind, we stopped quite a bit on the journey to find a good number of caches and endeavoured to get closer to qualifying for more Challenge caches. We will use some relatively generic logs with the sheer number of logs we need to complete after the Mega. We are tired and have insufficient brain power to do much more than that.We would like to thank all the cache owners for placing the caches for us to find, and unless otherwise noted, we found all caches in excellent condition.Thank you, GreyHams, for this WhereIGo cache.
Out this morning after the fog lifted. Down Majura Rd to do some of the easier CBRcaches terrain wise. Enjoyed solving these in prep.On my own and the Saturday traffic built up near the airport.Great series of wherigos.Lots of geotrails helped in the longish grassThanks greyhams and aquilus1
Our final cache type for our attempt at most cache types in a day and todays tally brings us to 10. We also need to find three Wherigo to complete our Space hunt game for Capital GeoBash. So here we are. Once you have the coordinates the geotrails tell a lot here. TFTC!
Filling in our space hunt sheet for Geobash, needed 3 to fill the void so we targeted a few of these.
An afternoon pre Mega drive including bellahappychappy, grannysmith1947, CharisMaree and CyberGran V. Signed as CM.I thoroughly enjoyed converting these Wherigo puzzles to coordinates prior to leaving home to attend the GeoBash in Canberra. Thanks for the puzzles, the caches, and the company of wonderful friends.

First day at Mega, I ventured out with friends, spreading joy across the map with my caching companions. After a brief search, I swiftly penned my signature on the log.Cheers to the cache!

Geobash Easter Mega - Day #2 (Good Friday 29/3)For day two, my main focus was the finding the mega site ALs and attending my second of three (pre-registered) tours. This made three tours total so far. I started the day at the mega site and I found the challenge caches around the perimeter of the mega site before heading in for the ALs I ended up finding most of them before heading off to todays tour. Todays tour was at the Australian War Memorial. Another great tour to attend as I once again learnt lots and saw some of the newly updated (to me at least) exhibits. After a late lunch I headed back to the mega site to find the last of the ALs. Once they were complete, I headed off to find some solved WIGs before heading back to the motel. I also found two others which has been on the to-find-list for far too long. Now time to get some sleep for my really busy day tomorrow. TB visit. If the cache wasnt signed as JohnoMawbs, it was signed as JM or as the tour group name. A big thanks to the CO for adding this cache to game for the Geocaching community to enjoy. TFTEs & TFTCs After my late lunch and finding the last of the AL's around the Mega site, I headed off to find these WIG's caches. This was one of those finds. I solved these a while ago but I was yet to find them. They were all nice quick finds and have been signed and replace ready for the next finder. Now time to find some dinner. Thanks
Found on a typical Autumn day with MrsRoosta.. In the area for the ACT Mega and a few caches of course. Not many muggles around and a quick find, thankfully. . Thanks for the cache GreyHams, ***Roostaman***
Cockburn Crew on tour to the Canberra Mega. Day 1 involved a bunch of caching around Sydney before making our way to Canberra for the Capital Geobash. We found a huge variety of caches, and its great to cache in new territory that we havent explored much in the past. Unlike our home state of Western Australia where we have found just about anything and everything.A beautiful day with great weather and even better company. Thank you to the local COs for a great day in and around this great country of ours.
Out and about again, headed over to Sydney early in the morning, grabbed a hire car and got some local hides before driving to Canberra for the MEGA. Solved the CBR puzzle before coming to Canberra. Feels nice to be back in my old stomping ground. Out with bellahappychappy, grannysmith1947 and CyberGran V. The road isn't as busy as usual which made this nice and easy to find.Nice easy park and grab, signed as CM!

We heard about a Mega in Canberra a year ago. Having never been to the big capital, we booked our accommodation and the planning began.Which caches shall we do? Wow they really love their mystery caches in ACT! Ok, we need to get our thinking caps on and solve some of these puzzles pronto. There were many heads put together to solve some of these and many headaches created along the way.We have made the trek from Adelaide to be here and appreciate the efforts of all those involved to make the Capital Geobash happen.
We are in Canberra and surrounds collecting geocaches in preparation for the Canberra mega which is in a few days super glad to be up here from the Victoria to enjoy this beautiful week and the amazing people that has brought it here thank you so much for this hide logbook and container
I enjoyed solving most of these puzzles, but I did need some help on a few. Now that we are in Canberra, I have been able to spend some time visiting the caches. There are so many that they all blur in my memory, so please accept this generic log. Thanks for all the work you have put into this game for us, GreyHams and Aquilas 1.
Exciting times over the next couple of weeks as we takeoff for the Capital GeoBash in Canberra! Its going to be a flood of Sandgropers over east, with a host of West Aussies making the trek east for the event. Im travelling with fellow Cockburn Crew members Leg5 and Barnzy12, starting in Sydney and hitting the road to Canberra, before returning back to Sydney. Honourary mention to our fellow member, Cravo10, who couldnt make it after recently introducing a new geocacher to the world the week prior. Once in Canberra, the agenda is set, well team up with a host of Western Australians to conquer caches. Collectively, were hoping to make it the biggest ever weekend for cache finding. Following the event, the journey continues back to Sydney, with a mission to clean up caches and new Local Government Areas (LGAs), ensuring no cache is left unturned in this epic geocaching adventure. Something tells me that well need a holiday after this, well, holiday. All logs have been signed as WAC to save space, abbreviation for Western Australia Crew. Cheers GreyHams! Join us in Augusta, in Western Australias South West, for WA Goes Big 2024 (GCAGV8Y) on Friday 20 to Sunday 22 September. Log your will attend now!

Big day of caching with WACrew. We ended up at the event after exhaustion had set in. It was tough jumping between GPS, cachly and about 10 different labs. Theres something to be said for having all lab stages within close proximity. Thanks for your contribution to making today an excellent day. Much appreciated.
Very happy to be here for my first Mega event from WA. Out to fill my grid and find some high favourited caches. Lots of laughs catching up with old friends and making some new friends along the way. Embarking on a week long mega adventure in the ACT and its picturesque surrounds, I've teamed up with an enthusiastic West Aussie crew: I C Nothing, Meme28, geotrakka, and Burns345, with the occasional cameo from neva2old. As we traversed territory, I was enthralled by the rich variety of caches this new hunting ground presented, turning each discovery into a memorable experience. Our group engaged in friendly competition at each stop to be the one to claim the find and shared countless laughs along the way.Together, we marked our triumphs in the logs as WA5, and on the rare occasion WA6.Catching up on some logs that I missed earlier today. Thanks GreyHams for placing CBR #14 for me and others to find.I added my name to the log at on 27/3/2024.This is find number 8315 for me.

I sorted out these wherigos last week as we slowly made our way east from South Australia so today we decided to head out and sign as many as we could before the event at Black Mountain. There were cobwebs and long grass a-plenty and I do wonder what some of the passing muggle motorists thought I was up to poking around in some of these locations! Thanks for find #5823TNLN
A good day to be out this way as there was very little traffic. Long grass and webs at most of the caches was an added bonus. The cache is in good condition.TFTC GreyHams and the golf.
I started working on these werigos a few months back in anticipation of my visit to Canberra today. I started off with a few drive-by finds before hitting the serious stuff.
Trying to keep our streak alive, we came to find this one after visiting the nearby shopping centre. We had planned on a couple of others in a different area, but the wind has come up and is so strong that we think it is better to not do any tree climbing today, and so we picked this one instead. Thanks GreyHams and Aquilus1. Awesome series. Domsky
I was with the CO when this was placed, and I expect I would have completed a bit of maintenance on it at some time as well. Should have logged it a long time ago.
Found with Moonb1, McLookers, Maccamob, Muzza, Pprass, Team Crackers, Rabbitto et al on yet another day caching in the Canberra Area.
We joined forces with Alansee, maccamob, McLookers, micaparamedic, moonb1, Muzza, pprass and Rabbitoh to try our luck at a few Adventure Labs and any thing else that was close by.
This morning we decided to change things up as we all enjoy wherigoes, these ones were chosen.
We really enjoyed the ways these were put together. With this many eyes looking none of the caches took to long to find and they now all contain our name.
To save room in the logs we signed as Vic1

It’s been years since Steve or myself have been to Canberra. This series caught my eye when trying to decide which caches to target and although I didn’t have time to do any of the jigsaw puzzles, I thoroughly enjoyed the question ones.
The CO’s are keeping us on our toes with these different hides. No issues finding this cache.
Thanks GreyHams and Aquilus1 for this fun WIG series.

Last one for the day back to reality for me. I solved a bunch of these back in one of the distant iso times but I'd never organised all the solved locations very well. So I'd only found the odd few.
I put In all the corrected coords for the ones I'd solved and made a few finds today. Have to wipe the sap off now. . Thanks for the fun!

I'm always intrigued at how much we are creatures of habit. As this hide was essentially the same as the last, I was not anticipating the slight difference in container so I was focused on finding one the same. Hmm, not wise...
That said, it did not take me long to spot the cache and remove the log for business. I etched my name in the log, tucked it back and made my way back to the car.
Cheers GreyHams & Aquilus1.

After completing the UGC, I decided to head down this way and grab the CBR series that could be done from the car. Thanks GreyHams and happy caching
We are travelling down from Sydney’s Northern Beaches to Canberra for a 6 day (5 night) holiday, staying in a park cabin at Alivio Tourist Park in O'Connor, and planning to explore the areas around Lake Burley Griffin, old & new Parliament House’s, the Australian War Memorial, Questacon, the Carillion, Black Mountain, Mount Ainslie, and areas around Canberra Airport and maybe out around the Kowen Forest if time permits. Have solved most of the CBR Wherigo Puzzle series and numerous other Mystery/Puzzle caches, so will hopefully get to some of those, and will do some of the Adventure Labs, Virtuals, and EarthCaches in the areas we visit. Photos will be uploaded to logs after our return to home base.
Today we are on our way back to Sydney, but still managed to find some caches along the way. Started the day with some challenge caches and a Virtual cache at North Watson, then collected some of the CBR geo-art Wherigos out toward Majura and an EarthCache plus some Adventure Lab stages at Lake George. We then stopped off at Collector for an Adventure Lab (plus AL Bonus) and some Traditional caches. This was the 20th of 50 finds for the day (day 6), and 173rd find of the holiday.
The family's chief puzzle solver had been busy solving all of the CBR geo-art Wherigos before leaving Sydney, so we were keen to collect at least some of them in the limited time we had left before leaving Canberra.
This was the next CBR cache we came to, and it was another nice quick find on arrival at GZ. TNLNSL, and then replaced as found. TFTC GreyHams & Aquilus1.

Lush grass everywhere. That's rain for you. A quick find here. TFTC GreyHams & Aquilus1.
Finally we’re able to start collecting these while we’re house sitting in Canberra.

Wazza9 & I solved these WIG before leaving home, today we started on the series. Quick find, signed log and replaced. Thanks to the CO for placing the cache
TFTC,
We solved a lot of the WhereIGo caches some time ago at home and loaded the corrected coordinates into the GPS. In the area for a while and today we found, signed and logged a group of them. Didn't try one as it was riski to park.
Picked up some traditional caches that were near these as well.

During some lockdown madness I set about solving the CNB series which provided some entertainment and relief from the monotony.
Came out here after dropping a mate at CNB! Cache located with a minimum of fuss, log signed and replaced. Could have found a few more caches like this but the T5 power trail was calling me so off I went.
I love a good wherigo but usually don't make em like this! Thanks for the series!

Tftc GreyHams & Aquilius1,
Arrived in Canberra today to collect a few more of this series. Like the variety of D/T ratings. Also like that they are Wherigos.
All good here

Find me a cache to go home, I found me a cache on the way home. Tiny post lockdown road trip along Majura Road with maryNgun and DS007ACT to clean up our solved but not found list. I do like these easy ones. TFTC
Quick find in the lockdown due the limit of 2 hours and sign and place back where belong. TFTC

I was out this way today for a service and keen to do a walk while in the area and find some caches.
On my way home I stopped here to collect a cache along this read, found there is less traffic these days which is good and currently quite easy to park. Thanks for the series!
Thank you GreyHams & Aquilus1 for putting the cache out and maintaining it.

A great series! Finally battling my fear of parking off busy roads and picking this set up. Thank you for replacing the log - all good.
With Taxi duties in the plan for tonight I set about thinking how I would kill my time whilst they where in the city. Chose the CBR series as a good option on a damp and cold night.
Found this one without issue but it appears it's log is missing.. looked around but nope hasn't fallen out... strange.
TFTC
Note: I loved the trivia and had a lot of fun solving all these... well mostly fun some of those puzzles were pretty bad.

Starting early this morning with a CITO at 7am. Then some caching around the northern part of Canberra.
