We hope you enjoyed exploring this region of the South Island. Pokai Whenua GeoTour: Rima has now ended. Thank you to the community for all the great logs, photos, and Favorite Points over the last 2 years. It has been so fun!
This town seems so underrated. No doubt6 as Q'Town and wanaka get more overrun the spill over will happen.

Spotted the steam train up the road on our way past.
This was a nice easy find, despite being somewhat smaller than advertised.
Thanks for placing & maintaining this cache

Visiting our son who lives in Kingston. Our first cache in NZ . A wet day to be searching in, but nice & dry at GZ. Thanks for placing this one & we look forward to finding many more caches here.
Watched the Kingston flyer getting ready for tomorrow's run down the line. Beautiful day on the lake today. TFTC
Along the way from Cromwell to Te Anau we made stopover for coffe in Kingston. TFTC
Ruru-NZ and I are or have been on Stewart Island doing the Geotour caches as a priority but any others found are a bonus for me.
Need to watch for low branches in area as I’d already done damage to head. Quick find though

All good here. On our way from Wanaka to Te Anau. Just had a significant birthday and the gift was a day out caching and a cruise at Doubtful Sound. Timed it perfectly to watch train arrive at station. Tftc
We saw the geocaching path coasting the lake on the way from Kingston and decided for a brief detour from our trip to Queensland. The lake was beautiful, even more so in this wintery weather with all the snowy mountains around it. Thanks to the COs for placing these caches.
Found on a late morning-early afternoon walk on this beautiful trail. This one evaded us for a very long time but we got there in the end
Out and about enjoying the hidden gems of our country. On a weekend out with DownSouthInv, AnnieLin, AbbyKitt in Queenstown and Kingston.
Love learning about the heritage of our country

Tftc found on way back from queenstown. Did not bring pen will sign at a later date. Also dropped a TB in
No luck here today, couldn’t see any likely spots and then read previous logs which helped us come to the conclusion that it could’ve missing.
Looked around for 10mins also called for help from someone who had found it, no luck.
Down in this beautiful part of our country Enjoying driving around and stopping for a few caches and to enjoy the views. TFTC
Day 9 of Flowerydaze and I trip around the South Island looking for PWGT's. We left a wet and windy Invercargill this morning and soon the weather improved. This was a quick find after a struggle with the last one. How amazing that the Kingston Flyer began its days on wooden rails. TFTC and the history Downsouthinv
After the last cache Talla64 and I searched for (Giant at the Bottom of the Lake), we were pleased that we found this one in seconds. Thanks for the very interesting history Downsouthinv, and for the cache.
It started raining after getting out of the bush. So needed quick finds. This one was. Tftc
1574. 3:51 pm. A quick find depending on your vantage point. Found with GRAkiWi. TFT(creekview)C.
Missed this last time we went passed so today i log it so stopped, and did it. Tftc
This is a great area to explore. I've heard of the Kingston flyer on so many occasions, it's great to finally be able to check out the area.
No problems making the find here.
Thanks for putting it here for us to find

One of 10 caches (three at Kingston) we located today whilst travelling from Arrowtown to Te Anau. This one was a reasonably quick find. #4844. TFTC.
Finally I've wrangled some time off work so it's off to Queenstown for a little rest & relaxation... and Geocaching! We were down here for 7 days and even managed to join forces with DavidsonClan on a couple of days. I didn't have a huge hit list - it was mainly just some of the PMGT's I was after - but I made time for many others as well
I wasn't sure where to park for this one so up the curb I went. Cache found quickly and in good condition thanks to accurate coords, a good hint and a straight forward placement. I'm very happy this one was replaced - cheers for keeping it alive.
Thanks Downsouthinv & TFTC

Arrive at the GZ and immediately spotted the container…oh wait that’s only the bottom…and there’s the top in the tree…hmmmm, this has clearly been muggled…
Expanded a search a bit and found the baggie, but unfortunately no logbook.
Added a couple of sheets of waterproof paper to make a new log and reach out to the CO and a PF for the code.
Got the code from the PF and wrote it on the log paper.
Hope this is okay with the CO!
Thanks for the Geotour cache!

Found the container with Cyclicalcaching, the spot is great we've had a beautiful sunny view over the lake
Road trip from Rotorua North Island. Another South island cache found.
Nice stroll along the lake, seeing the Kingston flyer. Very cool.
Thanks for bringing us here.

I would be great to ride on the Flyer again after 45 years waiting for the chance. TFTC
We stayed in Te Anau last night, and today we are visiting Kingston to collect the PWGT caches before making our way back to Invercargill.
This is a very historical and picturesque area. It was interesting to read about the 'Lady of the Lake'. No problem making the find here.

After an iPhone reboot, everything started working correctly, and the cache was soon in hand. TFTC
This is a great historic location and we enjoyed looking around before searching for the cache which was quickly located.
Unfortunately we were there a bit late to get a coffee from the cafe.
Our 128th stop on the Pokai Whenua Geotour and our 9th on PWGT5.

Today is a long Geocaching day. Starting from Kingston, we are going south, trying to escape the storm and rain river coming from the west. We knew about the boat, but not why it was used and how it was built. Easy find at GZ. Thanks.
Well camouflaged, nearly missed it. TFTC Downsouthinv.
Day 9 of the Loopppiiieee Tour (top to bottom, east to west) and day 1 of the Southland Loop. ItchyFeet2020 and JustLookingOO have joined us. We are targeting the TWGTs for GraciesGPSfun; as well as the PWGT, CANZ, D/T and some oldie caches for us all, as well as driving many kilometres AND, just as important, seeing the sights of the South Island and having a lot of fun.

A lovely lake setting, a quick park and grab, then time for some photos of trains and lake (still as a mirror). TFTC
Day 4 of our southern PW road trip with Ethness, Justlooking00 and graciesgpsfun. Picking up this little cluster in Kingston. Parked up and we all explored the area. Photos of the flyer taken, plum tree admired and cache and code word located. TFTC in a lovely spot.
AliGle and I were doing a bit of a tour around the south of the South Island in a Jucy Camper over a few weeks. Today we traveled from Te Anau to Queenstown, stopping to grab this cache along the way. Another nice easy find and more lovely views. TFTC!

It would have been fun catching the boat from here.
I found this cache during a Mum Taxi service.
Unfortunately they had to abandon their trip an a few hours into the walk due to sickness.
Two of my children are walking the Routeburne. So I offered my services for drop off at the Glenorchy end and am picking them up at the TeAnau end. I invited Jude_E along for company, so we'll be taking a few detours along the way.
Thanks for hiding this cache Downsouthinv for MinistryofEducation I appreciate it.

Nosynel and I are having a caching trip now after our taxi service for Routeburn drop off and collect became unnecessary due to one of the trampers becoming ill and them leaving the track.

I quickly located the cache however getting to it was not so easy as there was a dog walker nearby and a gardener.
Check today and all in good order
Ready for next finders
Getting out and about in to the out doors is my happy place so any excuse to go caching.
Life is short. Live one foot step at a time.Never say" I'm gonna "- Just do it!!

Wandered under and there it was, totally visible. Left with camouflage over, but don't know how safe the hide will be longterm.
Went on the Earnslaw 50 years ago when it was still an essential transport service. There was no road to the Greenstone so that was the only way of getting from the Routeburn back to the lovely village of Queenstown. My father took me down to look through the engine room door "because this may be the only chance you'll ever have of seeing a coal-fired steam ship".

Interesting history. Didn't take too long to find. Covered with a few sticks to make it a little less visible. Thanks for placing.
Day 3 of my 4 day/2500km trip to Dunedin, Queenstown, Te Anau, Milford then back to CHCH. Such a crime having to travel the South Island for work... be rude not to get a few caches while I'm around!
No problems here! Now i really need to start working. Thanks for bringing me to this little area, and the cache descriptions
TFTC Downsouthinv, the cache was found in good order Signed, sealed and returned to GZ. 4 find(s) of 11 today, making this find #2890
