Found this cache along our way to find Canberras first geocache. Unfortunately we forgot our pen. TFTC
Quick find on the trail with Nrs Burdons5. Beautiful birdlike and views enjoyed here. Tftc!
Day 23 of my interstate trip. Today was my first full day in Canberra I went to Mount Painter then just made my way around checking out a few Museums as well as a few caches along the way.. I managed to find 18 caches today and no DNF's.TFTC PandaLemonLost
There was an unintentional red herring that slightly tripped me up, but cache quickly found once I expanded my search area.TFTC!
Found on the down hill, walking back to the car. quick find.Found with Mogni. Myself and mogni are headed off to canberra on the " I missed the Capital GeoBash Mega " holiday, since last minute family problems came in to play and we had to adjust our plans by a few weeks. On the way over we targeted multi's, wherigo's and puzzles to make sure we had 25 in each or at least close to that total ( or more ) as possible, getting as many new New South Wales LGA's as possible, the 17th most favourite point NSW cache and every cache size in New South Wales. In the ACT it was getting 2 of the 5 oldest letterboxes, oldest wherigo in Australia, 2nd oldest earthcache ( with a side trip to get the oldest earthcache of course ), and ACT oldest cache too. I also hosted a CITO and planned on getting every different cache type i could and eevry different cache size as well. I also needed 9 more virtuals this trip to get my virtual count over 100. Finally canberra was far enough away from from house to complete the well aged well travelled cacher 0 to 1000 kms with a cache every 10 km's ( i only need 7 more caches to complete )Leaving the ACT it was going via Victoria to get there last active web cam cache and slowly getting a total of 20 finds in each LGA i passed through if i had enough time plus also hosting a CITO in Victoria as well. A busy 11 days. Trust me by the end of the holiday you would have thought the 6 meter ladder weighed more than 13 kg's to amount of times it was used or carried up hills or over creeks. If your cache was found with a broken container/lid it was replaced or if the log was full it was replaced or a extra log if the container was big enough ( except for nano's, do your own maintenance on nano's.
Day 5 of mogni and sir_spectre visit the ACT. Today was a mixed bag, old caches, letterbox, trad and wherigo and hunting letterboxes, more multies and stamping challenges as we passed and of course targetting favourite caches, oh and what everelse we happened upon. As per normal if a cache needed a bit of love, it got it. Lots of micro logsheets added today. Thanks to PandaLemonLost from mogni
Sweet little spot! Definitely get the name after finding the others up the mountain!

After conquering the hill, in the hottest part of the day, it was a pleasure to have a leisurely stroll down to this cache. With WierdoBiker and Ronice88, we found it with the accurate coords, and soon had the log signed.Thank you PandaLemonLost.
Since arriving in Canberra I have been eager to find the oldest Canberra cache. I was out with crustyvarmint and Ronice88 today to collect some of the caches on Mt Painter. Its quite a hot day and we are almost to the end which I am glad of.

Found with gwd.aussie while up for the Canberra GeoBash on our way up Mount Painter. Thanks PandaLemonLost
I wasnt planning on going much further than the path near here as my companions headed off to grab the oldest cache in Canberra, which I found a few years ago. Whilst sitting in the shade I decided to check my map as surely there would be something near here and lo and behold there was 37m away. Well I went made short work of the find. Back to rock sitting and along comes another cacher and we make small talk about grabbing the oldie. Turns out she was focused on the Earthcache at the top and wasnt aware of the old cache. Me suddenly my interest was piqued by the Earthcache and I was actually after one for todays date. Must remember to take my filters off! Ended up doing the whole loop which was lovely.
Today I managed to do a few Adventure lab caches and then take a hike to an old cache, well it is Canberra's first. I had some fun with Jacs, Gcoven and Rocket for the morning treks. It was nice to have a quieter day as the amount of tree climbs and walking was starting to take its toll, I could sense the tide in my body picking up earlier each day. Having said that I still got in a few good caches, went on a walk along with a few more tree climbs. The walk around to this old cache did incorporate a few extra caches of the area. Including the adventure lab which was nice, an earth cache a couple of trads and a couple of puzzle caches. Yes a nice walk around and some fantastic views today. Thanks to all the CO's for the caches placed around here. we signed the logs and returned all as found.
In the good old capital for mega time! First day was just a few challenges and the odd other type. Signing as GJX . With JACSTeam and xrocketx.
Part of the Sandgroper contingent that has come to the Mega to explore new hunting grounds. Its sure to be a great week with many finds and laughs with lots of great friends and maybe some new ones along the way. Thank you for placing this cache for our enjoyment. Logged as WA6
Another trip across the Nullarbor and we have finally made it!!Our trek to the Capital Geobash in Canberra, from our home town of Busselton, WA, via a few minor deTours.Where we wander, the places we go, the people we meet always make for an amazing adventure while we geocache.A big thanks to the COs for making our journey all the more interesting:-)TFTC
A weekend of caching, labing, laughter, fun, and adventure with my great mates The Rats and Steeba. Just want I needed! A weekend like this is good for the soul.We headed from Wollongong to the Canberra Mega, via many caches and Labs along the way. We had a 48 hour early Easter window of opportunity that we needed to exploit! As always the banter was excellent, and the caching secondary to that. We found a lot of excellent caches, and this boiler plate log should not detract from them in any way.Thank you to all of the cache hiders, and the event committee.Cheers
Headed down to Canberra for the Capital GeoBash Mega Event with The Rats and Hoojar for plenty of various finds along the way and around the ACT.TFTC!
It wouldnt be Easter without spending some of it with my mates caching somewhere. Found while attending the Mega event in Canberra over Easter. The trip bit.Easter geocaching festival of twenty twenty four. This time it is the turn of Oz Mega GeoBash MEGA event in the nation's capital. It is time for a road trip across country to Canberra in the Sporty Pajero Sports. Freddo and Gridge98 traveling from Adelaide via a strange inland route that takes in scenic rural locations, dusty roads, punctured tyres, overheating batteries, various tools of the trade, special campgrounds, and lots scope for many many geocaching finds. Along the way we saw running emus, jumping kangaroos, wandering deer, dead foxes, herds of wooly sheep and stray steers.Arriving in Canberra we met our colleagues e.gregory1, featherwaite, team walron, courtney rose, davidwazza, e_smilie, and georode, signing as ABP, plus a huge group of other like minded excited mega geocachers attending event after event, and more events.Day one. Canberra to AdelaideThe generic bit.I will apologize right now, because everything from here on is here solely for the purpose of padding the word count and winning that one hundred word diamond badge again. Somebody moved the goal posts. So many caches to find. So many caches to log. We find them, sign them and replace them. This particular geocache was found using one of the following GPS enabled devices, Garmin GPSr, Montana 680t, Oregon 650 or Dakota 20 and an Apple iPhone 11 using the marvelous Cachly app. Waypoints and paperless geocaching were downloaded via GSAK 9. Log prepared, checked and submitted using GSAK publish logs macro.Warning, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to exercise, meeting new people and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Beware: you may have fun. Apologies for the generic part of the cache log. The third day in Canberra and surrounds for the OzMega Geobash across the Easter weekend.Made my way to the event location for the first time today and enjoyed some of the festivities there throughout the morning. The afternoon was filled caching all over the place with a high priority placed on older caches to help fill Jasmer grids.Another day filled with an amazing variety of cache types and containers were located and with a large group the competition to get hands on the log first was high, with plenty of laughs along the way too. Thanks PandaLemonLost for placing Carrot for me and others to find.I added my name to the log at 16:09 on 29/3/2024.This is find number 8522 for me.
The Adelaide Leap Day Mega and Canberra Geobash gave us a great excuse for a road trip. This trip has shown us so many new and interesting places as weve chased LGAs, oldies, challenges, interesting D/T combinations, rarer cache types and favourites.Meeting up with friends old and new along the way, we sometimes cached together and sometimes alone but always had a great time. Today we took a drive out from Yass to Canberra. We started with a hike up Mt Painter, a great way to start the morning. We were greeted at the start by some friendly horses and then near the summit by a large mob of kangaroos. After persuading them to let us pass to find a cache, we took some photos before descending back to the car. From there we set out to collect a long list of challenge caches and anything else that caught our eye. An enjoyable way to spend the day. Thanks to the CO for placing and maintaining this cache and adding to our enjoyment.
Visiting Australia and today we are in Canberra out with All7. Now that was fun! We are always looking for oldies and some of the other caches nearby. We have found the cachers around here super friendly and helpful. Thanks for the smile
Cachehilsen fra Ellen Sch, NorgeFinally me and MrVon sr have made it down to Australia and New Zealand, -an old dream has come true. Team Eika and Ingsve have also traveled with us on this trip.We have been traveling cross-country for a month, and the goal is to end up in Adeleide and mega-event on the leap year. We have especially looked for old caches, to fill jasmer'n, for a couple of pieces, and for the other two of us who have started to think about review two.The vast majority of them showed up at their places, sometimes we had to search a bit, but we were usually lucky in the end. There were also some DNFs too.We have mostly logged in with the common nickname N4 (ingsve, Von sr. TeamEika and Ellen Sch), but our own nicknames are also used.A big thank you to all you CO's for laying out and maintaining your caches. Without their work, we would never have been able to make a living with this hobby.Always nice to have a new smiley face on the map.Cache greetings from Ellen Sch, Norway
EnglishWe are six Norwegians on a trip to Australia and New Zealand. We arrived in Melbourne at the beginning of February and are traveling home after the mega event in Adelaide. As a once in a lifetime holiday, this year we are traveling for 7 weeks to Vietnam, Bali, Australia and New Zealand. In Australia we meet Ellen Sch and MrVon sr and Ingsve to visit these last two countries, so here we cache together. Now we have solved many caches so we have a large number of solved coordinates. But we are interested in all types of caches, so if you receive a log, it means that we have visited your cache. We haven't quite decided where we're going, but we'll probably let the weather decide for us. We want warmth because in Norway it is now freezing. We will stay for about 2 weeks in Australia and 2 weeks in New Zealand and we will end the trip with the Mega event in Adeleide on 29 February. So thank you very much to all of you who make it possible for us to travel around finding caches. On March 6, we set course for Norway again. There are extremely nice people everywhere and we are welcomed, we thank you very much. Thanks to our cache friends for good company on the trip.

A splinter PP group headed off to find this cache because we’d already found the oldest Canberra cache, so didn’t need to revisit that spot. A long climb down to get this one - testing my knees… TFTC - and very happy not to need to climb back up again!!
Found OCW the Painter People geocaching group to do the trial geocaching tour run by Toy Hunters today. Wow what a great group of people and a well planned trip!
Had come here for the oldest ACT cache and cherryfromtheblock and I decided to join in the event and were glad we did. This cache was found quickly and log signed as the Painter People. TFTC

On this fabulous Spring day, an enthusiastic group met at the base of Mt Painter keen to participate in Toy Hunter's Tour. It was decided to call ourselves Painter People for signing the logs, or PP for short.
This was a dry run to check out the route, commentary and timing before Geobash 2024. The company, the weather, the commentary and the organisation were brilliant.
Some of us headed off down the hill to search for this cache. Oh how my knees complained, and still are! as I descended. However it was worth it as now I have a smilie for this cache.

After a lovely walk, which took us up, over and down Mt Painter again, we found this one along the way.
Such a beautiful walk on a still and sunny autumn afternoon.
After signing the log, we still had a bit more walking to do before we arrived back at our parking coordinates.

Sims_family and Dromaniax are on day Nine of a our 10 day trip to Queensland and back again towing a 12x8x7 foot trailer that is loaded to the hilt and weighs quite a bit. Fuel efficiency has gone out the window with the Ginja Ninja (My Orange Mitsubishi Triton) going through fuel faster than I have ever seen before.
Day nine we spent the whole time in Canberra with the trailer safely parked allowing some caching without it.
With a 2001 cache in our sites we found ourselves climbing Mount Painter on a trail that picked up a couple of extra caches which was not an unwelcome bonus . Only a short detour off the trail and we found this carrot.
Thank you PandaLemonLost for the cache and sorry for the late log I am still trying to catch up on logs from our big journey

Today is the ninth day of the Sims_family/Dromaniax big road trip to Queensland and back again.
We are towing a very big trailer, which was chockers, but when you have a mission, someone else is paying for the fuel, and there is the opportunity for nine days of caching fresh fields, you jump at the chance.
We have a long list of target caches and hope to cross quite a few goals off the list on this trip.
We were heading back south now, and the Trailer was significantly lighter.
With the trailer shed for a day, we could quickly move around Canberra and park easily.
Nice quick find of cache in excellent condition.
Thank you for this Traditional cache PandaLemonLost.

Tenth day of our trip and we have come to Canberra via the Rutherglen Mega, Sydney and Newcastle. First full day in Canberra and following our usual holiday traditions, Huntress was off on a long run of over 10 kilometres, while I went off geocaching. This morning's plan was Mount Painter.
Mount Painter is definitely a lovely area and I'm so used to mountain views between trees, that this open mountain was a surprising change.
Log is wet and I couldn't get it out, so scribbled "999" on it. Not sure why this tiny, non waterproof container was used. Plenty of room for a larger more suitable container here.
Thanks for the cache Panda Lemon Lost

Our last day in Canberra and a visit to Mount Painter was a priority. Beautiful day and very peaceful as we slowly trekked up the hill, taking in these magnificent views.
Thankfully the cache wasn’t too far off the trail and it was a nice quick find. Logbook is not in great condition.

Have checked cache today for the first time in way too long. Paper is slowly disintegrating but you can kinda put a signature on it. I did not have replacement paper but I will get it sorted shortly.
Found on a lovely walk up Mt Painter on a cool, overcast day. Quick find at GZ, lovely alternate walking track up to the summit. Log is a bit crumbled, but nice and dry. TFTC PandaLemonLost!
