Today marks 6 years married to ThatDarnBear, and two of the older GeoKids volunteered to take UnicornLex on a Sister's Outing. So naturally, what do we do? We make a beeline out the door for an afternoon of Mad Caching !!Happy anniversary ThatDarnBear TFTC
GeoHubby (Slotheryn) and I are celebrating our wedding anniversary, and what better way to spend time together than go Geocaching. Springfield was our target today as there is a nice wee Letterbox cache for the Take a Stamp Thursday challenge, which I hope to sign at the Mega in Dunedin. We grabbed as many other caches as we could in the area, this being one.A quick find here. Thanks for the cache.
Not only dodged the troll but also a large goods train coming through. Rail should be used more in NZ
Just as the sun is setting in the distance. What a lovely spot for a cache! TFTC
This one is close to where were staying overnight in our motorhome. Took the geohound for a walk once wed arrived this evening, with the aim of picking up the cache. Once I got to GZ I wondered how easy it was going to be to access the hide. Fortunately I read the description and then spotted a telltale object! All up it was a reasonably quick find. #7136. TFTC.
Nice quick find while enjoying a coffee. No sign of any trains or trolls though! TFTC
Have had a fun day out collecting smilies. This was a very nice stroll and a lovely little stream. thanks
Weekend in the caravan based nearby so this was a nice target to walk to .Bonus seeing the Tranzalpine come through too. Thanks
I very much love getting to visit the South Island. Until recently it wasn't something I got to do very often, but in the last year I've managed a series of mini-trips for geocaching, and here we are at the start of 2024 with another one. Just like my first SI trip in 2023, I've come to Christchurch to target a few specific caches to help with my Jasmer Grid, and qualification for a few challenges I'm currently working on.This is Day 2, and it's raining. Not major deluge-type stuff, but just a bit heavier than a fine drizzle. The kind of rain that gets into everything and can generally make for a miserable time caching even if you have wet weather gear. So I had a cruisy morning catching up with yesterday's logging before deciding that I really had to get out if I wanted to get any caches today. So I set forth, via a Couplands Bakery because, well this is the South Island right?Having failed to find GCE92 yesterday, I had decided to target the only other July 2001 cache available to me, so headed over to Glentui Bush to make the find. With the rain still falling, I figured I'd still be able to take the scenic route back to Chch whilst stopping to find a few park 'n' grabs, and so I pulled over for this one. A quick find here. No issues to report with this cache, and I soon added my name to the log and then replaced everything as found before heading back to the car again. Thanks for setting this one up.
After spending a rather sleepless windy and rainy night at Klondike Corner we ummed and arred about what to do today. We decided we would carry on with plan A for the day and find a few caches as we made our way to Christchurch. While we were in the area we thought we would wander down and find this cache, it was a quick easy find in the first place I looked. We did notice how unfriendly the rail station area was to campervans, so we did the cache and left quick smart lolThanks for placing this cache and thank you for the smiley
Got to get one in before the end of the year to say cheerio to 23, a quick find en route home
Together with Travelser I'm going Down Under. We are driving around with a motorhome. After 7 weeks driving around through Australia we arrived the 2th November in New Zealand. For ten days we will cross the Northern Island and than for 2 weeks the Southern Island.During our trip we of course search for several caches. Most of them brought us to very nice spots, like this one.All the CO's, and in this case Animacorn, thanks for bringing us here and give our trip a special accent.
After traveling around Australia with Oopie for 7 weeks, we have now been traveling with the camper in New Zealand for 4 weeks. Along the way we will of course also visit various types of caches in beautiful places, including this one. Thanks CO for creating and laying this cache.
This weekend I decided to attend a caravan rally in Springfield.Another caravaner (and cacher, SteveT10) and I drove to this cache from the caravan park.Cheers for the cache, Animacorn+Dad.
Neat little waterfall. Some debate whether we could have parked closer but the walk was nice.
It was a splendid day to head to Castle Hill. We first collected a few caches around Springfield, and had lunch there before heading up for more caching fun. This was an easy find in the obvious spot. TFTC!
Cool place. I enjoyed checking out the building. Definitely has that 1960s chic vibe.
Did not see any trolls today they must be celebrating their own occasion in perfect condition with ZEALOG
We're working our way East to catch up with family and finding caches as we go. We're getting used again to getting prodded and stabbed by the hedges. GZ was a pleasant change. Thank you for the cache.
We decided on a few days in Canterbury caching and visiting family.
This was one of several caches we found as we cached our way eastwards.
Thank you animacorn + Dad.

After caching between Christchurch and Springfield yesterday, today, I started caching in and around Springfield and then found a few more on my way back to Christchurch. I too was a bit confused about access. Decided the approach from the station was OK and found the cache in the 4th spot I checked. TFTC, Biggles.
We walked in from the country road. There were conflicting signs saying keep out. At the other end it said no bikes, even though it is clearly a walk and cycletrail. The littlewater fall was quite noisy. Thanks for the placement
Exploring a bit of Springfield finding a cache or two along the way. Short stroll from the station TFTC
Doing the AdLab and stopped by near enough to grab this one. I've just read a book on the history of the Mainland line, fascinating info about this town and station and the activity it had back in the 1900's to 1970's. Cheers
A short walk once I found the right way to the railway station (parking is here S 43° 19.984' E 171° 55.767').
When I saw the hint and heard the flow I was a bit concerned but the CO kindly found a way to match the hint with no risk to life and limb. Phew!
TFTC Animacorn+Dad
Find number 4877
(Logs signed Rincewind3 or R3 if saving space. Occasionally signed BRN if caching as a team with *B*o&bronnie, *R*incewind3 and *N*otManlyJack)

After a maintenance daytrip to ChCh we were out exploring Springfield to find a location for our new lab adventure. After checking out the train station we came over to look for this one and very quickly found the nylon hanging from the bridge. uh-oh! the water below was raging so we assumed the cache was a goner, but checked elsewhere on the way out (as any good geocacher would) Oh, there it is, how did we walk straight passed it? Thanks for placing this cache here and adding to our smilies
It's my birthday So JD Scout and I took the day of work and are having a wee day trip. Yay We took the campervan so we could have somewhere warm to have morning tea and lunch.
️️️️
We stopped for morning tea here. Thanks for hiding this cache Animacorn+Dad I appreciate it.

We didn't find any Trolls but did find the Cache. The waterfall was so loud and ragging..TFTH
The coords were a bit upstream and midstream, so at least narrowed down the side, if not the end. I was a bit put off by the hint, which suggested more underneath, but thankfully I read the listing before jumping. A nice wee stroll. TFTC.
Hi guys
Because of severe rain
We are going to disable 3 billy goats until the water clears up
Because dad found it bobbing around when he went out this morning
Cheers

We were heading to Castle Hill with evilC with a little detour for extra caches... Interesting chat about goats as we were heading to gz, and I discovered more of NZ literature. TFTC!!
On a Geotour trip for the week.
All GT caches found for the day. Now to get the numbers ticking over before checking in to the Springfield motel.
This one had me going for a bit. I ain’t climbing no fence for a T1.5!! Then I worked out where it could be and yay there it was. TFTC

Fixed up the cache with mr questions and it is back in action! Thanks again for telling me Thereitis.
Thankyou for telling us Thereitis. Until we can find a replacement we will just keep the cache inside for now.
Found it but the log book wasn't water tight, may need a new bag.
3 Billy Goats, it's in the name.

Heading up to castle peak but first a quick stop and stretch of the legs...had to re read the description before making the find tftc
A quick find here after a short wander. Getting very hot! Nice place for a cache TFTC
That was frustrating.
Never had my app open so with lack of reception I was stuffed.
But.
The title gives it away and cache was soon in hand.

Quick find on the way home today. Have never driven to the station before so was great to see some of Springfield that we haven't seen before. TFTC
Drove around in circle trying to get to gz. Then read the description and followed the street signage. Surprised at how much water was tumbling over the jump.
Nice easy find on a great day out. this is such a lovely area and make a great drive. TFTH
Enjoyed a day out caching in Springfield. This cache was a quick find. TFTC.
Weather pretty miserable at this stage of the day. However, a quick find and a run back to the vehicle. Found with coconuts3. TFTH
Out for a days caching with busy paws. Saw no trolls today, probably hiding from the lousy miserable weather. Thanks for this cache Animacorn+Dad.
After a family walk and lunch up on helicopter hill we stopped for an icecream.....and detoured to this cache for a quick find and sign. Thanks.
Thanks for putting out this cache for woolwood9 and I to find!
SL **tm/ww NZ** (may just be a black smudge on the many wet or plastic logs)
*We soon had another good cache located!*

As I approached GZ thought this could be tricky as the area is fenced off and I was carrying an Achilles injury. However a very quick easy find with one good leg; TFTC
Took us no time at all to find where these trolls were hiding and even went trit- trot over the rickety rackety bridge just to try it!! Gave us a little excuse to look around the village and admired the neat little school. Looked like a fun place, thank you A+D.
Down in Christchurch with the Squirrel, ABCDF4 and eyespyben. During Covid lockdown, we solved a load of puzzles and decided that this would be a good time to visit. We've enjoyed a few days of good weather and seeing the Canterbury countryside. The caches have been in varying states - some good, some not so much. Our time here has been a blast, and we'd like to thank all COs who have made this adventure possible. Thank you and TFTC.
After puzzle solving in the Canterbury region along with ABCDF4 we were invited to join Fap (from Fap & Gap) and Squirrel Nutcase to a week long caching adventure in the Canterbury area. With flights and accommodation booked were off, all met up in ChCh. and many hard dusty Kms travelled and many caches found, I think the Squirrel has said it all in his brief. Many thanks for the placements and Cos for bringin us to the very pleasant areas we travelled in to your region
