Ocw the Bebes who sent in our answers for this. Such a cracking location. Tftec
OCW PelDroedGwin What an amazing location. The walkway gives such fabulous view down in to the crystal clear waters. We saw sharks, turtles, dolphins, manta rats, huge shoals of fish and a mass of seabirds whilst we here. We were only missing a dugong to tick off the Big 5.It was heard to stop Atari that the ocean ti look at the geology however once you do thats pretty cool too! Answers sent to CO. Tftc
Found this today while out on a 4wd tour. We saw some dugongs in the distance making this a bit special. also had some other adventures finishing up in a hot tub. Thanks for the educational cache.
WA Big Trip Winter 2024. Day 88 - Denham Day 2. After a dry night and a clear outlook for the day, it was at last time to head through the National Park to Cape Peron on the sandy trails. There were a few cars at most places I stopped, but the track itself was mostly devoid of cars going my way. There were lots of corrugations, some impressive whoop-de-dos and a significant section of deep rutted sand where even my car pushed a bit of sand in front. I did make it in one piece and was able to find the first cache before anyone arrived. The light house and the earth cache were next at Skipjack point. I then slowly made my way home again having a look at some of the camping spots. Some were much more defined than others. I had lunch and then stopped at the homestead for a dip in the hot pool before heading home to watch the sun go down from the sunset deck at the caravan park. The boardwalk and lookouts are fantastic, and if I had made it out here in 2018, I would have to come back again just to see this. Plenty of information about the wildlife and geology and plenty of birds about. I did not see anything in the water, but I did not spend too long looking. I have put together my answers and sent them in.Thanks for the cache pommieparkin248647.3 TNLNVisited: World Traveling Gold GC A#6 & Flower A#102**Albida**
Very Windy Day but a great view. That sea breeze is killer. The ancient sand dune in Point Peron, Shark Bay, is known as the Zuytdorp Cliffs. The Zuytdorp Cliffs likely formed during the last Ice Age due to several factors:Wind Patterns: Strong, persistent winds during the Ice Age would have transported sand inland, forming dunes over time.Sea Level Changes: Lower sea levels during the Ice Age exposed large areas of the continental shelf, providing a source of sand.Climatic Conditions: Cooler, drier conditions would have limited vegetation, allowing sand to accumulate and form dunes.Colour: The landscape exhibits a variety of colours. The sand may appear white to light tan due to high quartz content. Areas with iron-rich minerals may show red or brown hues. Vegetation can add green patches.Reason: Different colouration is caused by:Mineral Content: Iron oxides cause red/brown colours, while quartz results in white or light tan hues.Vegetation: Green
We saw the caches at Cape Peron when we first arrived in Denham.... 42kms of sand.... Today we went to see it for ourselves and talked to some people who were reinflating their tyres after returning. They're opinion of the road... good. With that one bit of endorsement, off we went.Yeah, 42kms of sand takes a while but we were finally arriving at the carpark to the Wanamalu Walk Trail. This peninsula doesn't look wide on a map but it's wide enough to not get any water views on the way so the view at the top of the hill was refreshing. We scoured the water for any sign of marine life but apart from the cormorants on the beach (which we initially thought were penguins because hey, they were black and white) there wasn't any but big wide unspoilt views were in abundance. A fantastic spot. TFTEC pommieparkin2. Answers have been sent.
Found with e.gregory1 on a trip from Adelaide to north-western Western Australia for a little over four weeks. We spent three nights on the Steep Point/Carrarang and Peron Peninsulas, staying at Shelter Bay for a night and Big Lagoon in Francois Peron National Park for the following two nights. Enjoyed visiting this scenic area finding a variety of caches around Denham, out to Cape Peron and across to Monkey Mia. Thanks for the earthcache pommieparkin2!
Found on a trip to Western Australia from Adelaide with FeatherWaite. Last night we camped at Big Lagoon in the Francois Peron National Park. Today we travelled up to Cape Peron, exploring the various side-tracks, before heading into Denham finding caches along the way. We then headed back out to Big Lagoon again to camp.I spent a lot of time around Shark Bay for both work and recreation during the 1990s and it is still one of my favourite areas of Australia. Before the boardwalk was built, we often used to drive to Skipjack Point and enjoy lunch watching huge fish, turtles, sharks and rays in the water below the cliffs and dugongs feeding in the weed offshore. Sometimes we would see dolphins herding and feeding on fish against the beach.Today it was a little bit overcast, but we still saw a large ball of schooling fish, other fish, sharks, rays and a dolphin offshore. Thanks pommieparkin2 for an interesting earthcache.
Took a guided tour to Francois Peron National Park today as our vehicle doesn't have four-wheel drive. The guide showed us great places and animals. It was really worth it, it was a successful day. We saw lots of birds and sharks here.
We decided to walk from Cape Peron. It was a lot harder walk than I thought it was going to be. Pitty that the signs in the walk are a bit hard to read. But was great at Skipjack Point. We enjoyed watching the marine life. even got to watch a dugong from the point. Thanks for the earth cache
An interesting areaTFTC pommieparkin2. Found on 20 Sep 2023 at 14:34. Find # 2694
A great spot out here. We even saw some Dugong today. I found your D2.5/T4.0 Other EarthCache called Wanamalu Walk Trail on 20 September 2023. It was find #18479 for me. Thank you pommieparkin2 for placing this cache for our enjoyment in the wonderful state of Western Australia.
In the area for a short time but didn’t think I’d get there but that all changed when the hire car turned out to be a Isuzu MU-X. A chat to the locals in the Servo on the road conditions as the people in the resort said lots get bogged and I had more confidence even though they said it was due to be graded soon plus there where heaps of 4WD’s around. Dropped the rues to 20psi at the deflation/ inflation station. You know it’s a well used track when they have an inflation station. A bit soft and bounce around Gregories but high range was fine (the Servo said this was a low range section). In fact the toughest part was over taking all the slow Land Cruisers.
Great views and had a walk along the Skipjack Track. Amazing to see the boundary of the white and red sands. Plenty of activity in the water with rays and some very active sharks chasing schools of fish.

Beautiful day so headed out early to grab this EC. Parts of the track had extremely soft boggy sand which slowed our progress a bit with cars needing to be dug out to get through. Lovely views from the lookout and even a couple of osprey sitting guard on the beacon signal nearby. Thanks PP2
Heading north on a road trip with richlink enjoying many, many beautiful and interesting locations.
Fantastic views, thanks PP2 for giving us a reason to revisit this stunning location.

Today we were on a lovely tour with Bec from Shark Bay Coastal Tours in the Francois Perron National Park and spent a great day at all the must-see-places. Great experience and amazing views.
Skipjack Point was our first stop. Besides the geology we had some time to observe the animals in the sea; we were able to spot a ray and a turtle.
Thanks for this Earthcache and regards from Switzerland.

An absolute magical day out here today. All caches found easily and in great condition. Allowed for so much time to lap up the sunshine and enjoy the views! Have a favourite point for location.
We did get stuck only slightly in some of the soft sand on the Track after helping another vehicle get out of the “parked” position.

On a short trip North of Perth, ventured into shark bay world heritage area and managed to cleanup the latest offerings in town and in the Peron National Park.

It was a bit of an epic trip to get here, but it was enjoyed all the same. We had lunch at Cape Peron, after which we set of to walk the Wanamalu Walk Trail. Probably not the best time of the year to do this, as it was quite hot, however we persevered, enjoying the beautiful scenery along the way. It's a shame some of the interpretive boards have faded so much that you cant read the information. About halfway, Hubby hiked back to the car to drive around to Skipjack Point, while I kept walking along the trail. We eventually met up at the lookout, which was fabulous for viewing all the sea life below. Thank you pommieparkin2 for a great EC. We enjoyed it for its remoteness and beauty.
This part of the world is one of our favourite locations to visit, after waiting for a period after this cache was published as we were with the CO's when they created this cache we are now with the CO's logging a {*FTF*} on this cache, the landscape here is like no other in the world, and those views WOW TFTC PP2, another favourite
