Cache and log book replaced. Rock on

07-Sep-24
Replaced it safely on the ground as the hoop is still broken. TFTC!

Today I set out on a MacGyver Day on the northside, looking for caches that require a special tool. I ended up hauling in 10 tree fishing caches in total. This was my third stop for the day and because of my parking choice it required a bit of a walk to get to the tree. Quite a nice walk, though, with some lovely views. The tree seemed obvious but the cache wasn't visible anywhere so I checked the logs and then saw that was not up but down. Quickly located it and signed the log which is still in good condition. I actually had some straps in the car but I decided that I didn't have time to repeat the whole walk today. If I'm passing another time I'll drop by and get this cache back up where it belongs. Thanks Willis007 for the cache placement and the challenging puzzle! This one required quite a bit of research to complete. I knew most of the bands but had not heard of many of the drummers before.

16-Aug-24
After having a bit up a look up without success I decided to read previous logs only to to realise the cache loop is broken! Quick look and it was safely in my hand! TFTC

14-Jul-24
Found on the ground as the hoop has split. Put back as safely as possible at the base of the tree. TFTC!

After some ordering shenanigans, I finally got myself equiped with the TOTT. Heading out for an afternoon fishing expedition, once I found the right path up to the GZ we were quickly able to locate this cache. With a little bit of trial and error, we quickly mastered the art of casting a line and were able to log our first tree fishing cache.

23-Mar-24
Nice quick find after so long staring at number 5!

23-Mar-24
Out with ILTW and legend today to have a bash of the drum. Having a blast and enjoying using the TOTT - TFTC.

23-Mar-24
Having spent a few weeks solving the was time to go out searching. I was joined by snigglypop and Legend. Good to find.

19-Aug-23
Took a rather higher terrain route to get to GZ as I did not spot any easier way to get there. Somewhere between bringing the cache to the ground and signing the logbook the hook on my fishing pole fell off into the long grass. I only noticed as was trying to put the container back in place. Had to scrabble around in the undergrowth for a while before I actually found it and could reattach it to be able to replace the cache. TFTC

On holidays with alphag_25 from Mackay. In Brisbane for a couple of days and trying to grab some of the higher DT rating caches to fill some gaps. Thanks to the CO’s for placing the caches.

This was a fun puzzle and I got it correct first go. At gz, I saw it immediately but was worried that I might drop it over the edge but managed not too thank goodness. Found with sausage3, my sidekick who helped me with these ones. Tftc

Before heading off on road trip I joined with endeavour3 and Richmond Lad for an afternoon of Drum Beating around north Brisbane. All caches we had on our list were found and an enjoyable afternoon was had. Thanks Willis007.

Watawieh from Norfolk Island South Pacific.

I teamed up with Joojoo57 & Richmond Lad to tackle some of the Drum Beat Series. I was promoted to No. 1 tree climber and tree fisherman The rest of the team were responsible for locating the cache in the foliage TFTC

Some logs were signed as JJ57, RL, E3 to save space on smaller logs.

Found & logged using Cachly for iOS

Chasing some tree fishing today out on the South as stopped in to collect a couple of drums as we make our way back home. Seriously need to finish finding this series.

03-Apr-22
I spotted this one this time, after a bit of checking other trees. A much quicker retrieval here too. TFTC

03-Apr-22
After a couple of more challenging caches in the series this morning, it was nice to find one that was not going to test the balance and triceps as much as the others. Wink While it took a little longer to spot, the container was significantly easier to extract. NurseyJulie's sharp eyes spotted the container and it didn't take long to have the cache in hand. [^]

Log out, names inserted, the container was replaced. We thought we could take a shortcut to the car which was about 50m away, directly below us. That was not going to happen today though, so it was back the way we came for a much safer departure.

Cheers Willis007.

20-Mar-22
On my way to Bunnings and then to a nearby CITO this morning. Had to drop past and pick up a few more of this wonderful series.
Thanks to the CO for all the hard work.

21-Jan-22
I have spent the last few months dismantling the drum...I now had the chance to put it back together. I thought carrying my fishing pole on my bike would be a bit awkward so I drove to where I thought was nearby and tackled the fishing elements first.
After passing the massive mango tree nearby, I zeroed in on GZ and deployed the pole and retrieved the cache without any trouble. Signed log and replaced, all is good here.

The first day of school holidays and a clear afternoon means Greatjustgreat and arewethere? got to tick off a few more caches from the list of solved puzzle caches. This afternoon we concentrated on the Drum series and this cache was the first of three for the day.
For the puzzle, a few of the drummers were known, but I must admit the majority were “searched up” as greatjustgreat would say.
A convenient park at the trailhead, and we took the low path around base of hill. Realised our error and returned to the track for the ascent to higher ground. This was greatjustgreat’s first go of the tool (and my second), and if the CCTV cameras can pick up the GZ, there will be a security team chuckling at the Marx Brothers slapstick style retrieval. We eventually had the container in hand, and hopefully practice will make perfect. Back down the hill and off to the next one on the list.
The log book is all good and the container was returned as found.
Thanks very much for the puzzle and the challenging cache Willis007. We enjoy the variety of the series and have allocated a favourite point for this one. Cheers

i love this type of puzzle and my geo work friend and i really enjoyed solving it one lunch break. Today i had packed my TOTT to target finding this cache. I dont know if i went the correct way . i seem to think not but i parked not far away and went up a slope and there was long grass and a geo trail. i quickly spotted the cache and then i got the cache but it dropped in the long grass. oh no. Lucky i just made sure i watched it drop right to the bottom and then it was not long until i had it back and signed and then back to my TOTT . That was fun. Thank you for all the fun

04-Nov-21
This evening, I took a short drive and made my way around Sparkes Hill Reservoir. I probably should not have waited until night in completing this visit, but I was treated to some nice views around.

This puzzle took some time to work my way through, and so after a few weeks of making progress, I soon had the correct words to then input the letter combination into Certitude. From there, the coordinates were obtained.
Unfortunately, I was following my GPS and took the direct approach to GZ. What didn't help was my thongs footwear, and only having one hand as I made my way up carrying my TOTT. However, I eventually made it, and soon spotted the cache in the right tree. A short time later, the cache was retrieved, and the cache container and logbook were in good shape. Thanks Willis007 for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

02-Nov-21
Even with the help of google I didn’t get one of the answers but with some brute force I got the checker to reveal its secrets.
At GZ this morning and there was a worker having his morning tea. Had a chat to him then got out my TOTT amd got to work. He went back to eating. Quick retrieval and log signed. I decided to take the direct route back to my car which increased the T rating. Saw a tiny snake in the dirt but luckily he slithered away not happy with me being there.
Lovely area.

After meeting up with Swearah to borrow a required tool we set off up the hill to collect the cache. Krcamber had collected this previously so stood back and watched me try my luck, this was a first time for me using this specific tool and what fun. TFTC

25-Aug-21
An afternoon drive to the dark side to knock off a few more of the series. This rime I brought my TOTT with me. It is the first time that I have attempted to use it. I had added a custom modification to it that I hoped would do the trick.

My third tree fishing attempt for the afternoon and I attempted this from the wrong direction and struggled to keep my footing up the slope.

Finally I arrived at the correct spot I found that terrain rating was correct. I must have been exhausted as it took me a while to locate the cache.

I took a longer, easier route back to the car.

This one was a great puzzle. We thought we had found the best place to park but as we walked towards GZ we got less sure with the terrain rating. T2, not the way we did it! ??????? Anyway, we got there in the end where Stephyy did the honours. A nice one, TFTC!

21-Aug-21
Krcamber solved this puzzle for the team, and at GZ, Stephyy did the fishing. I did nothing, jodsta83 did a little bit more than me ?????????

Thanks for the puzzle and cache, Willis007 ??

21-Aug-21
Out with krcamber, swearah and Stephyy today grabbing some drums.
We have been collectively solving these ones and today is the day to put some smileys on the map.
Luckily swearah packed the required TOTT that was required to grab this one.

Thanks for the puzzle and cache, Willis007

21-Aug-21
Out with swearah, jodsta83 & krcamber getting some of the drum puzzles collected.

Sometimes we just like to do things the hard way just like we did here so up the hill we go. Nice simple find and sign thanks Smile

21-Aug-21
I had a late start today as I had to have my leg dressed, caching injury 3 or 4 weeks ago and I also had a hair cut booked but then I was able to join with RoddyC, Hatsoff, Patrol14, Snickersallen and GrannySmith1947 to do a bit of Drumming and a few other caches. Its always good to have company.
Cache found, log signed and all replaced as found. TFTC

21-Aug-21
Out with geofriends (RoddyC, hatzofff, GS1947, Snickersallan and Imbunda) targetting the drumbeat series and others along the way. Loved the puzzles as I love music.

A quick find after using our TOTT to retrieve it. SL then returned as found.

Found on 21 August 2021. TFTC, Willis007.

21-Aug-21
Now that we have more freedom, it's time to get out and about. Target: More of the Drum Beat Series which we started a couple of weeks ago. I figure we shall need another day to finish them off. Our team met up at the Stafford City Shopping Center and we started from there. All up we had just the one DNF at #6.

Had the special tool, so not a cross word was spoked.

Log signed and cache replaced as found on 21st August 2021. TFTC, Willis007

Out with Mr CuriousQuest, helping him complete his 25D/T in a day challenge. I had already solved the series. We were enjoying our walk through the bush. Then we realised that we would need at ToTT. It was still in the geomobile. Back we went. Then we made our way to this cache. It was quickly located and the log signed. TFTC

Spent a few hours out with Selva Girls this afternoon to pick up some of the Drum Beat caches. Plenty of walking, a bit of tree climbing and some tree fishing. There were some good hides along the way and some rather sneaky ones.
Sorry for the generic log.

Nice doable puzzle.
For this one, I drove to the closest spot but was rudely greeted with a locked gate saying there was building happening.
Oh well, I drove further and parked at a familiar spot. Haven’t been here for years (also caching) so it was good to return. I had to walk past a council guy or worker here, with my enhanced fishing rod under my arm. I expected him to challenge me (I could have been up to a bunch of bad things right here, surely) but he didn’t.
I wandered on and soon arrived at the very scenic GZ. Cache was easily spotted and again I was relieved to see it wasn’t too high up, allowing my crude implement to get it down and back up without trouble. All good here so TFTC.

23-May-21
The sun wasn’t quite up yet and it was too dark to spot the other tree fishing cache so I wandered over here and had no such problem. Thanks for the cache

A glorious day out on Bike, rolling along to my own rhythm and beat. 4 hours by bike covering 35kms, and a further 4 hours by Suzee car and feet. A glorious day indeed. Spent a few weeks not long after they were released working my way through these puzzles, and today managed to pick up a lot of them. Quick find here, but had to come back with my TOTT - easy as then.

Thanks Willis007 for entertaining me at this location.

I’m a bit torn on the subject because I can’t work out whether tree-fishing was invented by sunglass companies or chiropractors. You need a pair of sunnies to look skyward while doing the business but after that you need a back-cracker to give your neck an “adjustment” after it.

I feel their is some sort of trepidation in the community over whether chiropractors are real medical specialists or just people that need to be bundled with the other holistic brigade. I was one that used to pay out on them, however since I’ve started visiting one regularly with my wife I haven’t had any neck or back problems.

For me the jury is still out and the TAFE certificates they have hanging on the wall doesn’t fill me with confidence. Still I would much rather prefer someone that has some sort of paperwork cracking my spine that a sunglass company executive cracking my wallet. tftc

We were looking forward to The Drum challenge and today was our first day of attempting these clever puzzle caches. What a sterling effort by Willlis007. The variety of hides was fantastic, we used the bike, the fishing pole, leg power, up trees and up and down vales. Our thanks to Willis007 for placing this cache series and enhancing our enjoyment of the area.. This one gave us a bit of grief Sad extra thanks to the co Smile

Found at 2:01 PM GAFF2 in the company of Di Morgan.
It was amazing how many times we missed this cache - even when we stared straight at it. Nearly gave up after 10 minutes searching and as Bill gave up, I said I would have just one more look and - what do you know - spotted it straight away [:o)]
Thanks Willis007

We have now set up camp at the Caboolture showgrounds. We have been joined for a couple of days by pprass. This was an antisipated bikeride by the male members of the teams. They set off one way while the girls decided that a visit to Cosco which can't be found within 600 kls of where we live would be a good idea.
The boys returned approx. 4pm exhausted, they had done about half & there is no talk of a return to finish the series at this time. They said the bike path was a wonderful concrete track untill they met a hill climb then it was hard work.
Thankyou Willis007 for placing this cache.

A team effort to solve all the caches in this series in preparation for burgo78 visiting the big smoke.
Loaded the bikes this morning and set out to log the series by car and bike.
Met some friendly muggles, saw wallabies, rode bikes in the mud, and through fast-flowing creeks.
Easy tree climbs and some hard-to-find ones.
Wet feet and shoes all day due to plenty of water in many parks.
The Kedron brook was flowing quickly, would have been an adrenaline-packed paddle today.

Thank you Willis007 for this series and my apologies for the copy-paste logs

Out with Karicka targeting the Drums series today. On the bikes for most and the car for the rest.

After a joint effort in puzzle solving, it was time for Caro, Kestal and I to head down the range from Toowoomba to convert a few to smilies. Caro & I were chasing puzzle numbers for a challenge & Kestal was after overall numbers for an upcoming milestone. All logs were signed E.C.K. to save time & space. A bit soggy underfoot after all the rain and very steamy but no DNFs. And due to this day I'm now spending my last few hours of lockdown catching up on my logging Big Grin. Thanks for the fun Willis007.

Next on the list for Eskies5, Caro and myself (signed ECK for the day). All finds today including this one was nice and straightforward. Our names were signed and all returned before we continued on our way. TFTC Willis007

A joint effort was made today to find a stack of ready-solved puzzles, plus a few others thrown in for fun. This was one found with Eskies5 and kestal, we signed most logs ECK - our first initials. Fun puzzles and fun times were had, thanks for the puzzle and cache, Willis007!

Today was my push to 5000 finds. I needed 29 finds for today. The break down was 22 mystery, Traditional, multi and Adventure Lab with 5 waypoints.
Lots of walking done and bit of fishing done.
I did have lots of fun.

This morning Team Tyrrell and I went for a bike ride to collect more of the new drum series. We had good fun and made good progress finding the caches.

Thanks for this enjoyable series and the variety of puzzles and hides!

01-Mar-21
Out and about again with Georode to finish off the drum series. This will be our 2nd day on the geo bikes covering just over 40 km's today ( 80km in total over 2 days of cycling from home.)

I have enjoyed the challenge of solving the various puzzles thrown up by Willis007. Most of them i was able to punch my way through by myself, however a few i needed a kick in the right direction.

Today we had the relevant TOTT to collect the harder to reach caches. I feel like i pushed my way through a hundred spider webs whilst crawling in and around the trees and i must have been bitten at least 10 times by the mozzies but i loved it.

Tanks Lisa for a great series and and extra big thanks for putting it so close to my home Smile
Love your work.

26-Feb-21
I always seem to either learn something new or remember to do something while caching. Like remember to take a pen and then it was take a spare, remember to take an extraction tool. Today I learnt to read the hints BEFORE you leave the car, on 3 occasions I had to walk a distance back to get a TOTT of some sort. I was in no hurry today so it was nice to just wonder around and enjoy my mistakes.

Just grabbing a few today as I am working up to a milestone and would like to collect that on one of these in this series.

Of the caches I found today all were in good condition; I signed the log and returned as found. Thank you for this series, a good variety of finds today.

We did not get cross doing this crossword.
This crossword did not make us cross.
This cross was up. This cross was down.
We worked that cross until we found.
Another smiley here!
Thanks Willis007.
Your puzzles do not make us cross.
Your puzzles do not make us bad.
Your puzzles do not make us sad.
We do like them; they send us mad.

Appreciate your time and effort for putting out and maintaining these for our enjoyment.

This place looks familiar... but I didn’t have the required TOTT then...but I do now...

A quick retrieval and sign... the return saw my meat hook swaying in the wind... but I got there in the end...

No idea what the remote controlled car people thought I was doing... tftc... again I’m following in the footsteps of Domsky and E_:)... there’s a story about mushrooms, but it’s not mine to tell... but now I’ve been seeing them all day...

Even though we thought we were prepared we got half way up & TGG said “ isn’t this a tree fishing cache” so back I went to retrieve said device a 2nd time. Sometimes I am such a boy great view

Out with Muggle65 today, finding a few solved puzzles. I loved the puzzles cos they were actually doable. Many l just look at with less than no idea. Pretty sure l wrote a note to self at the last one about TOTT. Shame l didn't read that note. M65 was a gentleman and went back for the apparatus. Took us quite a while to replace this one. We kept catching a wee spur on the branch. Finally it got home properly. Thank you so much for the effort put into these caches

Time to bang the drum once again and see if we can find the last remaining stragglers in this wonderful series.

Rock chicks are awesome, in fact I remember we all had a thing for Cindy Blackman after watching her rock out in the Lenny Kravitz video. Still gives me chills Big Grin

There is a lot of construction activity just below GZ but luckily the sound of powersaws drowned out any noise I was making on the crunchy leaves, making for a quick stealthy retrieval without anyone being the wiser.

I had commitments already this morning but couldn’t resist joining La Kedi, Slow Puncture, ruzzelz and IolantheK for the first part of their cache hunting ride. I was fortunate to have finished in time to rejoin everyone for some fishing caches. Nearly everyone had already found this one but kindly stopped off on our way past to make the grab again for IolantheK and me. TFTC Willis007

Out for a bike ride early this morning with ruzzelz, Slow Puncture, La Kedi and DisSister. We met at Downfall Creek at 7am and spent just over 4 hours riding 17kms, and I gathered 14 smileys Big Grin

Lots of googling for this one.

The bike ride is now done, but we have a few tree fishing caches to do. Our next stop was a long walk from the cars, and seeing as we were going past this one as well, we all stopped so DisSister and I could sign the logbook. Slow Puncture made short work of the grab. TFTC, Willis007.

Out and about earlier in the day with Mrs SP on the bikes. We had not taken the required TOTT on the bikes so returned to the general area of the ride later in the day to complete the required tasks and an odd outlying cache that required assistance.

There are many ways to this cache and on a week day there are also many eyes nearby so take care when to decide to seek this one.

So many solved puzzles calling to us, even in our sleep, that here we are again for Day 3 collecting Drum Beats & smilies.
Haven't had a really good geoart in a while and this one is certainly getting us back in the game!
Kudos to Willis007 for the effort put in.
#4 of 25 caches found today. Smile

WOW … a surprise ***FTF***
I left Mrs VC to sort out the young ladies needed for the puzzle, while I pondered over the largest of the jigsaws, and she was quick to pull up some numbers.
As we were in the area a couple of days ago we checked in on this cache so that we would be prepared for today, and we were.
I knew exactly how far we had to stretch our legs before the need to stretch everything else took over.
The walk today seemed shorter and more enjoyable, perhaps it wasn't quite as hot as on our previous visit.
We passed an elderly lady ,doing a spot of weeding, who smiled & said hello before watching us fade into the distance with a look of 'What are these people doing in here with a long pole?'
You could read it in her eyes! Big GrinBig GrinBig Grin
Once at GZ the retrieval was quick and easy this cache being slightly lower than those previously encountered.
We were here for the experience and the smilie as we had noted that the cache had already been logged as found.
Imagine our **SURPRISE** when we unrolled the log to find that it was **BLANK**! Surprised
We were FTF ... WOOHOO!!!
Did a happy dance, planted a few high fives, made our mark and replaced as found.
Some days are diamonds indeed! Big Grin

Friday. We headed back to this cache which we’d gone past earlier today after deciding to leave the TOTT back in the car. Look at that – we could have had a FTF on this one if we’d brought the TOTT with us earlier. Que Sera Sera. Glad to have our names in the log book Smile

This was the 28th of 30 caches found on this outing.

Thanks ***Willis007*** for showing us this place Razz
