Replaced log book.

26-Aug-24
Today I set out on a MacGyver Day on the northside, looking for caches that require a special tool. I ended up hauling in 10 tree fishing caches in total. This was my second stop and it went much better than my first one where I managed to snap my pole. This one was nice and easy to retrieve and return. Unfortunately the logbook here is quite damp and starting to go a bit mouldy. Still ok to sign, though. Thanks Willis007 for the cache and the puzzle! This was one of the few songs that I could actually recognise straight away from the drum beat. I think this song was probably played at every school disco I ever attended. Such a great song!

Dropped wife to the hospital and then had a few hours to kill. TFTC

15-Jul-24
Doing this on the way to work for a change - there is no turning allowed on the way back. Quick find at GZ. TFTC!

21-Dec-23
Quite a pleasant walk with overcast conditions albeit muggy today. Theyve done a lot of work in this park since the floods. Made our way to GZ where the cache was found safe and dry although the ants have taken a liking to the container. TFTC

23-Sep-23
Found with Rach_Jean21 and Gorjess TFTC

23-Sep-23
This would have been solved over a year ago, but it took me a bit longer before I could get my hands on my own TOTT. Who knew this park was here! Located quickly on arrival at GZ. Rach got a bit of practice with the TOTT. The log book is nice and fresh with plenty of room left. TFTC, found with Laurie and Rach.

23-Sep-23
Cute little park. Easy spot. TFTC

19-Aug-23
After attending a CITO event and then making an unexpected visit to my dentist who happened to be close by, I still had some extra time on my hands to search for some additional caches, including this one which had not seen a visitor in some time.I had a minor collapse of my fishing rod mid trying to get this one down. It didnt stop me making the retrieval. After the log was signed I replaced it as found. TFTC

12-Jul-23
Found with Nanabombana - proud of my efforts to retrieve and replace even with a semi-broken TOTT. TFTC

Out with TeamARF to collect more Drums and a tree fish or two. Lovely cool day for January. Some delightful little spots along the brook! Thanks Willis007 for this awesome series!

11-Dec-22
Hooray awesome found it

03-Dec-22
Sausage3 and I had previously seen this one but without a tott, we couldn’t retrieve it. Thanks to the CO, who lent me hers, we were back. Even though this one was the highest of the four we found today, it was the easiest as no branches were in the way. Tftc

09-Nov-22
Before heading off on road trip I joined with endeavour3 and Richmond Lad for an afternoon of Drum Beating around north Brisbane. All caches we had on our list were found and an enjoyable afternoon was had. Thanks Willis007.

Watawieh from Norfolk Island South Pacific.

I teamed up with Joojoo57 & Richmond Lad to tackle some of the Drum Beat Series. I was promoted to No. 1 tree climber and tree fisherman The rest of the team were responsible for locating the cache in the foliage TFTC

Some logs were signed as JJ57, RL, E3 to save space on smaller logs.

Found & logged using Cachly for iOS

01-Oct-22
Quick and easy find at location. Can see how high the floods were here.

01-Oct-22
A bit of a challenge but got there

18-Sep-22
I spent the morning doing a circuit walk in this area with a local friend, Sausage3, who hadn’t been along this part of Kedron Brook before. I had a few of the Drum series solved in this area. Many of these drum beats I didn’t know but with help of an app suggested by the CO, I was able to solve this puzzle but as I don’t have a , I wasn’t able to retrieve it. Saw it though - my friend was impressed how high it was. Hopefully I will get to sign it one day. Tftc

06-Aug-22
Back hitting the drum while waiting for my grandson's soccer game to start at Grange.

First time visit to this spot though I've traveled past the entrance many, many times. Popular spot with the energetic while bouncing a round ball and attempting to slot it in the basket.

Past the uninhabited enclosure to GZ where a few arachnid's webs were collected before deploying the TOTT. Unlike some other fishing trips, this was a quick retrieval and release. Still have time to collect a few others before heading off to the soccer ground. Thanks Willis007 for a drumming good series.

23-Jul-22
#6 out and about with Duppers yesterday. With TOTT on hand, this made for an easy retrieve. Once signed it was returned back to it's resting spot.

23-Jul-22
Classic drum beat that was completely in my era. Not all of these puzzles were quite so easy, but this one as simple for me.

Close to GZ, we initially chose the wrong route, 50:50 change. Once we got to the right spot, Shazzar66's skills were put to use for an easy retrieve.

03-Apr-22
When we arrived at the parking area at GZ, we were not sure we could even park due to the nearby works and the recent rains. However, we managed to snag a small spot and made our way through. Lots of water damage through this area too. At the GZ the container was on the ground and we replaced it where it would once again be high and dry. TFTC

03-Apr-22
I'm not sure what happened after the CO's post rain check on this one, but when NurseyJulie and I arrived at GZ this morning, the container was found on the ground at the base of a tree. Surprised

While it made for an easy find, it meant that once we sorted out the logging part, we had no real idea where the cache came from, so it was replaced on what looked like a good perch. Wink

Looking around, this area copped a hiding from the rain and watr current and the area around and over the creek is a mess. Twisted

Cheers Willis007.

22-Mar-22
Post rain event check. Another one high and dry.

19-Mar-22
I’ve had quite a few of these solved for awhile now and I had an hour or so before dinner to head out and claim them now that I have the appropriate tool for the job.

Word of advise, don’t try these on disk as the difficulty rating escalates significantly.

17-Feb-22
No TOTT with us today. Until next time…

26-Jan-22
The youngest one and I targeted this cache in the late afternoon. We took the dog for a bit of exercise, and our essential tool. I recall trying to grab this cache on the morning of publication, but that was pre-ownership of our trusty tree fishing tool. A return trip with a ladder, rake, broom and ocky straps also proved unsuccessful.
A very different story today. Due to the poor weather there was no one around so we were able to get straight to it. We are getting better at the extraction and replacement, so the log book was quickly retrieved and signed. All dry here. Log book lofted back up and we were all done.
Thanks very much for the cache and the series Willis007. Cheers

21-Jan-22
As I don't know Brisbane too well, I definitely came from the wrong direction on approach to this cache. I slipped and slid down the hill, but it doesn't always matter how you reach GZ, just that you do... After a short search I spotted the cache and deployed the pole, getting good at this tree fishing now! (HA!) Added my name to the log and sent it back up to the skies.

16-Oct-21
Super windy here which had me taking a little time to retrieve. TFTC

15-Oct-21
A quick find with great coords and a quick retrieve. Thanks Willis007 for a great series

25-Aug-21
An afternoon drive to the dark side to knock off a few more of the series. This rime I brought my TOTT with me. It is the first time that I have attempted to use it. I had added a custom modification to it that I hoped would do the trick.

I had to stroll past the muggle who had surprised me at the previous cache. I wonder what she thought I was doing with my TOTT?

It didn't take long to locate the cache and it was a simple retrieval.

21-Aug-21
Out with krcamber, swearah and Stephyy today grabbing some drums.
We have been collectively solving these ones and today is the day to put some smileys on the map.
Lucky swearah packed the required TOTT to make the retrieval.

Thanks for the puzzle and cache, Willis007

21-Aug-21
Out with swearah, jodsta83 & krcamber getting some of the drum puzzles collected.

Another nice easy tree fishing cache done and dusted.

thanks

Puzzles puzzles puzzles - we are in our element here!

A fun fish at GZ with Stephyy, Krcamber and jodsta83.

Thanks for the puzzle and cache, Willis007

21-Aug-21
Another good puzzle. I struggle a bit with these but soon had the right answer.
At GZ, the parking was a bit tricky so Swearah and Stephyy jumped out of the car while I parked it with Jodsta83. At GZ, another great tree fishing cache! TFTPC!

19-Aug-21
Found it stop here for lunch
Thank you

27-Jul-21
Well, I should really learn to check hints before arriving at GZ.
I spotted the prize but unfortunately do not have go-go gadget arms.
Will return another day with appropriate tool

24-Jul-21
Catching up on some signed caches I had actually forgotten to log! The group we were caching with reminded me of my omission. Thanks guys!!

TFTC, Willis007. Sorry for the generic and rather simple log. It rather belies the enjoyment of both doing the puzzles and making the finds in great company. Cheers.

Teamed up with RoddyC, hatzofff, grannysmith1947 and Imbunda to visit this local area, grab a few caches and in particular some 'Drums'
Enjoyed this tree fishing one, not a muggle in sight for the first time today. Another good puzzle, well done CO, a favourite point from me

Muggle65 and I finished work before the sun disappeared so we decided to get another Drumbeat ticked off. Grabbed the trusty fishing pole and headed out. A Muggle was playing basketball with himself so I watched him for a bit but soon realised he wasn't watching us so we grabbed the cache. Fabulous series - thank you so much Smile

22-Jul-21
Who doesn’t like a tree … doesn’t need to drag me out and about, just waves the pole without damaging any furniture .A quick trip to Stafford brought this beast to bare & soon we were signing the log & returning it to where we’d found without Muggle intervention

12-Jul-21
This evening, I had a short window to grab a geocache before meeting jesswrigley at the shops, and so I thought I would come to this area nearby to home. I managed to park in a logical parking spot, of which a speed camera vehicle must have thought similarly. I initially parked behind them not realising what they were, and I somehow got the feeling that I had then cut off their operation, so swiftly moved a few metres away. Once the vehicle was secured, I headed off to GZ. After having a DNF nearby here, I decided to continue my walk to this geocache.

With TOTT in hand, I initially took a high path heading to the required coordinates, only to then needing to jump a fence, and descend lower. After searching around for 5-10 minutes, I managed to spot the cache about 10 m away from where I had these coordinates. The TOTT was deployed, and the cache was subsequently brought down to a level for signing, and the cache container and logbook were in good shape. Thanks Willis007 for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

20-Jun-21
Out for a bit of a Sunday drive with IolantheK.
IolantheK was looking to get a few more Tree Fishing caches to qualify for a OC Challenge Cache and this one fitted the bill nicely [^]
Made a quick find at GZ, cache is dry and in good condition [^]

I'm working on a tree fishing Challenge so T-Tech and I took the drive here to collect a couple more from this series which will add to that list. This one was easily spotted, retrieved and returned. TFTC, Willis007.

19-Jun-21
***COs- Gradually trying to catch up on a major logging backlog, some I'm sorry to say, stretches back a few years.
It started as a series of unfortunate events and went from there.
Please note- I'm logging each cache on the day that I visited it, not the day I'm logging on. Cheers??***

Visiting here with jebjeb's from Germany and testing out our skill (or lack of!??) with my new TOTT toy. We're getting there along with cricked necks and a lesson in where NOT to put ones finger when sliding the sections down!????????
TFTC??

Out with Mr CuriousQuest, helping him complete his 25D/T in a day challenge. I had already solved the series. Good thing we took the ToTT with us to this one. We were soon signing the log. TFTC

19-Jun-21
Spent a few hours out with Selva Girls this afternoon to pick up some of the Drum Beat caches. Plenty of walking, a bit of tree climbing and some tree fishing. There were some good hides along the way and some rather sneaky ones.
Sorry for the generic log.

Last time when we did all the Drum Beat caches we didn't have a pole with us.
Today we came back with a pole together with Echocage1 and grabbed this cache easily.

Out with KerriMG for a spot of caching before school pick up.
Let KerriMG do the fishing since she spied the cache. TFTC Willis007

After a recent purchase at Bunnings, I had experienced success in this particular subset of the game at The Gap and so decided to see if I could do it all again around this area.
I was first to DNF this cache back on publication day, so knew exactly where it was. At the nearest car park, I assembled all my gear: bent coat hanger attached to extendable fishing rod, tied with straps to an extendable Bunnings pole. Just in case, I brought along duct tape, scissors and zip ties.
At GZ, I needed several goes to get my technique right, but down it came and then I was stoked to get it back up without too much trouble.
Great to make this a smilie so TFTC!

22-May-21
I had to stand in the right spot to see it as there was some foliage in the way. No problem retrieving or returning it. I reckon I could almost climb to it if I didn’t have the TOTT. Thanks for the cache

18-May-21
Sighting this one was quite easy but retrieving it through the foliage certainly tested my newly acquired fishing skills. TFTC Willis007

18-May-21
I packet my TOTT so that after work I could pop in and find this cache . I ride my bike to work but decided to just walk here from a nearby car park. At gz I saw a geo trail and soon spotted this cache. I'm getting better at this tree fishing but as I was bringing it down the cache fell and missed my head by this much. Next time I might ride my bike and keep my helmet on. Getting it back was fun. Love this tree fishing and all these puzzles. Thankyou for all the fun

A glorious day out on Bike, rolling along to my own rhythm and beat. 4 hours by bike covering 35kms, and a further 4 hours by Suzee car and feet. A glorious day indeed. Spent a few weeks not long after they were released working my way through these puzzles, and today managed to pick up a lot of them. Quickly spotted, and with use of my own special approach was soon in hand.

Thanks Willis007 for entertaining me at this location.
Cool *{Overall find #9183}* Cool

Mrs Woodyrothwell was tree fishing as is her want while I checked out the form guide for Race 7 at Randwick. I was waiting for the cache to smack me in the face which is her way of telling me she has it down for me to stamp the log but instead I heard her say “Uh oh!”.

I looked up and couldn’t see the cache where we had spotted it and it wasn’t on the end of the pole either. It also hasn’t fallen and smacked me in the head which is a mistake we all make once (maybe twice).

It was wedged on some other branches and I knew it was my time to step up and fish for our lives. I politely asked if she wanted me to save the situation but she kindly reminded me what it looks like when I have something hard in my hands. Note to self: put some viagara in the geobumbag.

She was able to save the cache and also return it to its perch. I think she was looking for some sort of hero badge. tftc

Continuing on this wonderful puzzle trail. Spotted quite easily retrieval and replacement good with the right tool. Thanks Willis007 for arranging and hiding Smile

Found at 12:57 PM GAFF1 in the company of Di Morgan.
We carted the "special tool" for 8 kms or so, just so that we could get this cache Big Grin
Thanks Willis007

16-Apr-21
We have now set up camp at the Caboolture showgrounds. We have been joined for a couple of days by pprass. This was an antisipated bikeride by the male members of the teams. They set off one way while the girls decided that a visit to Cosco which can't be found within 600 kls of where we live would be a good idea.
The boys returned approx. 4pm exhausted, they had done about half & there is no talk of a return to finish the series at this time. They said the bike path was a wonderful concrete track untill they met a hill climb then it was hard work.
Thankyou Willis007 for placing this cache.

13-Apr-21
I have definitely lost my mojo DNF

07-Apr-21
A team effort to solve all the caches in this series in preparation for burgo78 visiting the big smoke.
Loaded the bikes this morning and set out to log the series by car and bike.
Met some friendly muggles, saw wallabies and a turtle, rode bikes in the mud, and through fast-flowing creeks.
Easy tree climbs and some hard-to-find ones.
Wet feet and shoes all day due to plenty of water in many parks.
The Kedron brook was flowing quickly, would have been an adrenaline-packed paddle today.

Thank you Willis007 for this series and my apologies for the copy-paste logs

Out with Karicka targeting the Drums series today. On the bikes for most and the car for the rest.

Easy to get down. Harder to place back. 4th attempt got it back on its perch.
Logs signed as BK.

Thanks Willis007 for creating and placing this for us to enjoy.

After a joint effort in puzzle solving, it was time for Caro, Kestal and I to head down the range from Toowoomba to convert a few to smilies. Caro & I were chasing puzzle numbers for a challenge & Kestal was after overall numbers for an upcoming milestone. All logs were signed E.C.K. to save time & space. A bit soggy underfoot after all the rain and very steamy but no DNFs. And due to this day I'm now spending my last few hours of lockdown catching up on my logging Big Grin. Thanks for the fun Willis007.

20-Mar-21
Next on the list for Eskies5, Caro and myself (signed ECK for the day). All finds today including this one was nice and straightforward. Our names were signed and all returned before we continued on our way. TFTC Willis007

20-Mar-21
A joint effort was made today to find a stack of ready-solved puzzles, plus a few others thrown in for fun. This was one found with Eskies5 and kestal, we signed most logs ECK - our first initials. Another fun tree fishing cache performed by the pro, Eskies5. Such fun! Thanks for the puzzle and cache, Willis007!

14-Mar-21
Today was my push to 5000 finds. I needed 29 finds for today. The break down was 22 mystery, Traditional, multi and Adventure Lab with 5 waypoints.
Lots of walking done and bit of fishing done.
I did have lots of fun.
Sorry for the generic log

Appreciate your time and effort for putting out and maintaining these for our enjoyment.

Another straightforward puzzle...

I made an educated guess about where the gz would be, and I actually got it right... spot on co-ordinates and a nice sized container made for a quick retrieval and return...

This was another fun puzzle which we were able to solve late at night while puddling our way through this series.
Although we had not intended to be searching for the final locations today, we were in the general area and Mr Domsky was so keen to try out his new upgraded TOTT. I’ve got to say, it worked a treat, and has a lot more strength and precision than our last one.
All was quiet at GZ, and after adding our name to the logbook, we headed back to the car where we spotted some dogs having a great time in the nearby puppy park.
Thanks Willis007.

As a reward for rescuing a forgotten fishing pole, my friend took me tree-fishing this afternoon, and this was one. Navigating the extra greenery was the tricky bit of this, though happily spotting it was easy enough Smile.

I’ve noticed a lot of loud noise beating in a rhythmic manner in the neighbourhood lately. In fact, some of the drums are in very close proximity to my house, there is even a drum kit just past the end of my street which to date I have not been able to shift.

I digress, fun Friday meant a bike ride to collect the solved drum beats along with Mrs Slow Puncture. I have a nice little loop planned which enables the collection of a few caches and I meet up with Mrs SP along the way.

Another checked out during the ride and picked up later with the right equipment selection.

So many solved puzzles calling to us, even in our sleep, that here we are again for Day 3 collecting Drum Beats & smilies.
Haven't had a really good geoart in a while and this one is certainly getting us back in the game!
Kudos to Willis007 for the effort put in.
#3 of 25 caches found today. Smile

Another puzzle for MRS VC.
She has really excelled at these audio puzzles, I think she passed her training on a couple of Georode geoarts? [?] Smile
Coordinates loaded we were off to another tree fishing cache but this time we were prepared having visited here 2 days ago and now knew what was needed.
We parked the Geo-Beast and as we passed the dog park we stopped to admire the beautiful specimen inside the fence watching us closely.
Her dog was amazing too! Big Grin
An almost pure black medium-coat German shepherd just 7 months old cavorting about working off some excess energy.
We had a brief chat to the young lady but the cache was a-calling!
Although we were out of sight at GZ we were quick to retrieve the cache, make our mark and replace as found.
I wanted to get back to the dog park.
I was in love!
I wanted to take him home!
Yes HIM, I am most certainly enamoured with the furry bundle of energy exploding about the park but NO, it's time to move on.
Just as we got back to the Geo-Beast a guy pulled up and out jumped a cross WHITE Shepherd/husky ... another beautiful specimen indeed.
Reversing the Geo-Beast I looked right to see yet another beautiful medium coat Shepherd, this time it's flowing coat was a blend of tans, browns & jet black.
Watching the three racing around I was loathe to leave, I wanted to stay & play but Mrs VC wouldn't let me.
I'm not sure if she was pulling me away from the Shepherds or their companions? {?} LOL ...

TFTC Willis007 Smile
Definitely a Favourite Point for the cache and an overall experience that revitalised me if only for a short while. Smile

Friday. This cache is definitely my last find for the day. I’m feeling spent after sweating all day. No amount of drinking was helping me (especially after a sun affected kay of kayaking just a couple of days previously). We all popped our names into the log and then headed for home. Luckily we knew exactly where this one was already from finding it earlier today. We’ll be back to grab some more of these drum caches soon. Smile

This was the 30th of 30 caches found on this outing.

Thanks ***Willis007*** for showing us this place Razz

Met for a bicycle ride with Team Tyrrell this morning and collected a good amount of the new Drum series. I had good fun solving the puzzle beforehand and once we arrived at GZ, we found most caches quite quickly.

Thanks for the series in the northern suburbs!

Georode

03-Feb-21
Out and about on the Geobikes today with Georode picking up a few of the drum series. All up we cycled almost 40 km's darting around the suburbs collecting smilies.

There's a bit of a story to this one. As we were both on our bikes we didn't have a TOTT with us. We decided to have a look anyway to see if we could spot the cache. At GZ the cache was soon spotted and i was feeling stupid enough to have a go at retrieving the cache the old fashioned way. So up i went and managed to get the golden prize without the need for a TOTT. Log was soon signed and replaced as found.

I've enjoyed solving the puzzles so far, however there are still quite a few for me to get my head around and get the green tick of approval. Lots more headaches to come for me.

Thanks Willis007 for the placement and upkeep of this series. ( I'm sure i'll be picking your brain and looking for hints in the coming weeks. Smile

03-Feb-21
NOOOO ...
We didn't check the details and as we had walked a few kilometres to get here we had nothing to hand that would help.
We did spot the cache so for our next visit we are definitely forewarned.
Unfortunately neither of us are as young or as nimble as Team Tyrell so no go on that score either! LOL ...
Next time ...

Day 2 of this little puzzle geoart series and after spending the night solving more puzzles I had a nice little run set up. I then received a message from Orange Crew saying he had the morning off. I told him of my plan and to bring his bike. After we both did our Daddy drop off duties, we meet up at the designated point and started our ride. We had a couple of possible FTF’s and a run of caches to collect.

It was an awesome morning for a ride, I took the TOTT, just in case we came across a surprise cache, (lucky we did). We collected approximately 20 caches and 2 FTF’s, a great time again with orange crew. I found out orange crew got ftf on this one, after i fished it out of its hide, lol.

The variety of hides and caches along this track is just fantastic, tree climbs, tree fishing, hanging in trees, and then a couple of surprise ones; you just cannot pick what you are going to get next, well done. With the log signed and cache returned as found, we were off to grab another on our list, thanks for placing these along here.

After spending the morning in a tinnie caching with mates and the afternoon at the pool with the family, there was only a very small window to try and solve a few of these fabulous new puzzles and then go find a few. This drum riff was an indelible start to a childhood favourite song of mine, the song and band name were an instant recall somehow, even though I forget things from literally 2 minutes ago. Wait, now what was I just saying?

After parking nearby I wandered over to GZ with my TOTT and my super duper headtorch, and soon spotted the container waiting for me!

Tree fishing at night is always challenging trying to keep the light shining in the right spot while keeping the rod steady retrieving. But it was the replacing that caused me dramas when the rod collapsed inadvertently, causing the container to become dislodged. I thrashed around the long grass for ages before realising it was caught in the tree just above me Razz Wouldn't happen during daylight of course!

Glad to get everything returned as found and an FTF. Adding an FP

NOT FTF.
After solving a few of these this morning, the day became too tricky for me to head over to this part of town until late in the day. Racing to the nearest parking space, I set off quickly for this GZ but then discovered there is an easy approach and a not so easy one, and with darkness falling, I opted for the steep one.
Only at GZ did I realise the awful truth: it’s a tree fishing cache which I had forgotten to check in my haste to get here.
No, I did not have my TOTT today... maybe next time!
Time to race for another cache...
