I would have loved to do this one at night, but our tour of NZ doesn't allow for an extra night here, so it was a short amble in daylight. Oh boy, had I found this at night, I may have left it unsigned, but the filtered sunlight was enough to keep the fear at bay - just.Found during the Dunedin Mega Tour by Tiz13 and Snips and Co, with Posums today. Thanks for the cache GeocachingCanterbury
A plan was hatched quite a while ago when the Dunedin Mega was announced to come over to the South Island again.I have only been to New Zealand twice before and I loved the South Island. So a chance to come back for a Mega was a no brainer for me.Everything was booked and I flew in on Saturday after a bit of a delay.Im staying at the old Offices Mess building at the old Airforce Base and it is a wonderful old building.Day 3 begins so lets go find a few more caches.I met Tiz13 at the airport as they happened to be on the same flight over and we organised a day out after I missed their message yesterday so the plan was to meet up at the event near the Botanical Gardens. So Snips and Co, Tiz13 and me, Posums set out for a fun day out with plenty of laughs along the way and of course a few caches as well. After a bit of inner city caching it was time to hit the burbs for a bit more fun. After having a wander around Spencer Park we made our way into here.It is usually the opposite as we made the easy way in and the hard way out.Snips and Co and Tiz13 were a bit spooked and we soon made the scary find. Thanks Geocaching Canterbury TFTC.
Possums, Tiz13 and Snips and Co have meandered over the ocean to NZ (from Australia) for some pre Dunedin Mega shenanigans. We found this cache along our journeyA lovely walk... Snips was spooked ..Tiz13 kept repeating her mantra... nothing poisonous here...and .possums took the find.
Trouve ! / Found it ! Je m'attendais tout sauf a Excellente cache 5190me cache trouve.Merci GeocachingCanterbury pour la cache I was expecting anything but this Excellent cache 5190th cache found.Thank you GeocachingCanterbury for the cache
This is a fun cache I was lucky enough to spot it right away. I also spotted the very easy route in to this cache which I had not used
Cute little cache here after an arvo climbing through the adventure forest. Loving my holiday from Aus
Out in the area with coconuts3 and Lytteltonwitch today. Easy walk in to cache are - a bit off path, as others have said there are easy and harder ways to this. after 20 seconds at GZ LW started to cackle, so we knew she had seen it. VERY clever/cute! Made us all laugh. Very happy to sign a D5 log. TFTC and the fun.
Out with busy paws and lytteltonwitch to find this cache. A nice bush walk away from brambles. Got to GZ and lytteltonwitch started cackling, we knew she had spotted the cache. Made us all smile, happy to sign log. Thanks for the cache Brodie.
Found while geocaching with Busypaws and Coconuts3 and this was a fun cache. I was very pleased to have spotted it first
I had spent about 15 minutes around GZ about 2 -3 years ago looking for this. That time I had found a much easier was out than I went in so this time I was able to find it. GZ has moved and it took quite a long time for the signal to settle. After quite a while searching and thinking that it had defeated me yet again I spotted the obvious. Very hard to miss if you spend the time. Also very easy to spot right away if you lucky. Thanks.
Yup there is a hard way and an easy way of course I chose the hard way 350 mts from gz took the easy way back though cache easily spotted and in perfect condition ready for the next finder a favorite for the adventure
Cache 1435 Heading to Christchurch for a geocaching holiday this week where I’m targeting hidden days/months and a few D/T and to sign challenge caches. This cache was a Just because I like a difficult trad, Definitely not a true T5 it’s more like a 1.5! But I will take it lol it probably was a lot tougher before the trees at GZ started to die off, be careful of falling/fallen branches. The cache itself is adorable and appropriately themed Cache in great shape T4TC
Just had time to stop and wander along to pick this up today. Used PAF when it wasnt apparent after a search and then spotted the hide immediately.
Thanks for the fun hide. Needed this one too help. Me finish my second trip around the DT grid. 4 more to collect. Have them on my radar as well.

Had the right idea but it still took a while to locate. My gps gave me 11.6m away from published coords. I expected it to be much harder than it was. Tftc

#22279. Headed out in the late afternoon to find a few caches. This was the first, and we made hard work of making the find. Eventually resorted to a PAF, but that didn't help much. We were close to giving up when I spotted an object of interest (just what Troodles was expecting). Whew! TFTC.
We set out late afternoon to find a few caches on the east side of town. This was the first we looked for and we searched for ages where both GPSrs were pointing, plus further afield. I had an inkling about what the cache would be (and turned out my inkling was spot on ) but we weren't sure what size it would be.
After a PAF, we had one last look, then StreetWalkerNZ spotted something a bit further away that needed further investigation, and there it was! Hard to miss really, we must have walked right past it as we followed the GPSrs which said "andale, andale!" Maybe both GPSrs were off-song today as our GZ was 15m away.
Great cache container, and the bright orange toadstools in the vicinity added to the atmosphere. TFTC.

After picking up a few caches on the other side of the Waimak I was heading back to town and diverted briefly to Spencerville. Decided to walk in to this one on the offchance that I might find it. Got to the general area of GZ and started searching, not really knowing what I was looking for. Did not see any obvious geotrails. After 10-15 minutes I was starting to think DNF thoughts when all of a sudden I spotted it! It wasn’t an easy one although, having said that, if your luck is in you could possibly find it very early in your search. Like others I would suggest the difficulty level is no more than 3.0, definitely not a 5.0! Anyway I‘m pleased to have got it. #5818. TFTC.
On a trip to visit my sister and getting some caches for a challenge. This was one of my target caches as it filled a spot in the grid. All good with the cache. Thanks
Fun walk thru the bones of the forest. We made it out alive but our friend the cache died of old age lol. Tftc
Somehow this was a diff5 and on my list to find for dt grid completion. Walk in easy then saw all the cut lower branches and was expecting a tough search, but in the gz the angel decended and the gold trophy was spotted. Tftc
A nice quick find. Thanks for placing your cache.
We saw one of the new fire and smoke sensors on the way to GZ, which was cool, An early warning system that could help save the forest and people too.
Ms_KR and I went for a wee drive across town. A great day for it sunny and warm, time for a BBQ!
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

Camping nearby, so couldn’t resist a stroll in the spooky forest. Lots of downed trees to complicate the approach, but after a bit of wandering, I found the magic spot. And did manage to find my way out! Thanks.
Turned out to be a quick find once the gps settled. Was a bit worried some the recent tree fall may have rendered this unfindable but I got it.
trees were down everywhere, went off someone’s photo and couldn’t find it anywhere, spent an hour in there
Wandered around for a while at gz. Something glinted but ignored it. Then finally went to look and found it. Nice one.

Te Difficulty of prickles. Not sure why else it would be rated anything more than a D3.
We came in, squeezed through some fallen pine trees and prickles, and soon enough after looking around for a couple of minites spotted the cache. It is a cool "container" and a fitting one for the surreal location.
Kia ora! Paldies!

Found with ivss_xx. Like others, we went into this wondering why the D5. It soon became apparent. After finding a suitable approach, we milled about checking whatever seemed the least bit abnormal. My GPS was having a dance party so I put it away and put my head on a swivel. After a few minutes, something caught my eye and we were signing the log soon after. Love the container!
Was walking around for a while and couldn't believe how I didn't find, though it is nighttime. Great cache, one of my favourites so far. Now I just need to get out of the forest.
Do not understand the difficulty rating for this one? Followed a track to within 10m of the cache, stopped, looked around and there it was. At first, thought what I was seeing must have been a dummy cache but no, signed the log; Thank you very much.
Out picking up a few caches that fit criteria for challenges I am working on with Sir Belac, we didnt pick the best route in and SB got a prickle in his leg, took a few minutes to find it. Nice hide thanks GeocachingCanterbury

After a nice family walk along the beach i decided to park up and head to this cache....id put my shoes back on from the beach but everyone else was still in barefeet so it was a solo walk in and find and sign. Found and easy way in and out. Coords pretty good. A nice wee cache. Thanks.
In town for the day for family matters and saw that this one was a candidate to help me fill the last few holes in my D/T grid. Tregearp and I reviewed previous logs we were expecting a few challenges and came dressed appropriately. A Haha moment at the GZ. All in good order, thanks GeocachingCanterbury for the cache.
Between family commitments, SJT_NZ and I got out and about to fill a few more of the D/T up. Having reviewed previous logs we were expecting a few challenges so had some decent walking shoes and protection from brambles. A bit of a reckkie and we identified and identified an option and proceeded towards GZ. Pleased to say it was a treat rather than trick but not the sort of thing you normally see in this environment. ThanksGeocachingCanterbury for a fun cache.
I was ready for a much harder trek in if I'm honest. I did try one wrong way initially, blocked by felled trees and flooding.
I drove around to another entry point and walked to within 90m of GZ. Now I *could* have bushed bashed across the tree fall but for once I used my brain. Go me!
A short wander further along, a left turn and I found a pretty good trail right to GZ. Nice one

Needed a 5/2 on the D/T chart. went prepared for a difficult challenge, only to find it was 2 at worst. Still its logged now. Easy find TFTC.
Ouch! There is a reasonable path to follow but we only found it on the way out. Circled around following the phone GPS for ages before we got to the right place. Definitely one of our longer finds bcos of it. Easy find though, provided your GPS doesn't send you 50 metres further into the forest haha. Awesome cache! Thanks!
10 January 2022 20:44. This one had been taunting me, as it was only a few hundred metres from me (as the GPS points). Decided that I had to go for this one after dinner, so set out for a 'short stroll around the forest' got to NEAR GZ relatively easily, but then the fun started... Phone refused to settle, so I was reduced to looking at all the trees in the area! Then I spotted it, I must have walked right past it on the way in but looking in the wrong direction! Typical, eh? Log now signed, and I made my way back to the holiday park having added a fair bit of distance to the walking challenge I have set myself, 5.93km walked today. TFTC
Our experience was the same as many others - finding GZ is very tricky as one negotiates a path over felled logs and branches, dodging the blackberry and trying to get caught. Once we were there we spent a little time looking down in obvious spot until we read past logs and realised we had to look up. Then easily spotted. A creative hide. Another well earned favourite. TFTC!
Quickly found with cab165. Was expecting more difficulty but not too bad. Appreciate the hide, location, and unique design! TFTC
Staying in Christchurch for a few days visiting the children. Spent the morning walking round Spencer park then to South Head. Enjoyed this cache. Puzzled by the D/T rating but happy to take it. No trouble finding the cache. Thanks for the smiley.
It was getting hot as the sun has started to shine. A nice walk to the cache despite the debris. Took a few minutes to locate and love the final. Thank you for hide. TFTC
Very pleasant walk across BLFP to find this cache. Nice surprise with the cache container. Unfortunately I lost my pencil during the walk, so have included a photo of the log with this post.
We had left this one untill today as it is Helloween, and had no trouble finding our way to GZ and we could see the Cache a short distance away..Definitely a Treat..TFTH
Found an easy ish way to GZ and made a quick find. I wouldn't like to meet this character in the dark! TFTC.
Having noted the D status I thought this cache warranted a checkout, so I jumped on my bike and headed to GZ. Lost a few drops of red hydraulic fluid achieving the find, but I'll quickly replace that, I hope? TFTC
Glad we were on the case early in the life of this cache!! It is really special, but may be very tempting for the folk populating the area close by as the Christmas holidays close in on us. Such a torturous route in, but very quickly spotted (thank goodness!!!) once the Montana read zero metres to go. Thank you BW.
FTF 11am Not as difficult as we imagined. A treat to find on a sunny morning. A favourite from us. TFTC
had spotted this when it was first published... I was thinking about going out for a cheeky FTF but decided against it in the end. After getting some details for a cache down in Rolleston, I swung by and had a look.. with success! I made the trek in harder than I should have, I saw an obvious path out. Nicely done GeocachingCanterbury. #2949
