28-Oct-24
Our third and final day of the Mega caching with geofriends from Aus before we go our separate ways. Group consisted of Bluewattle, chamad, Wollaston, Willis007, kolour, Ardom, Gcoven, BenM70, and Snickersallan. Logs were signed as QLD+1.A big thank you to all the cache owners who placed this great amount of caches for our enjoyment and the benefit of the geocaching community.Apologies for the generic logs, as I rarely log them whilst travelling around the countryside and tend to do them once back at home.

Day 5 of my 6 day trip to Dunedin to attend the Mega and clean up all the puzzle caches solved over the last few years.Todays journey took me around Dunedin a bit and then hit the airport area cleaning up the puzzle caches here before heading back to Dunedin. Thanks for all the puzzles, caches, find, frustration and enjoyment.Spent most of the day with buttels. Logged as combinations of B&C.Quick find by buttels

27-Oct-24
Day 4 of our southern trip to the Mega, and today we highlighted the airplane series.3 Marlborough cachers (Kiwimykl, PaoloB72, and I) embarked on a journey a few months back in the depths of winter to solve as many puzzles in Dunedin as we could. We targeted the airplane and albatross series, but managed to pick up a few other peripheral ones as well. And after a few weeks, our spreadsheet and the caching map was filled with lighter blue puzzle pieces indicating some new places for us to visit. For myself and and RG72 we had left it until today to have a crack at these, and as it turned out that may not have been the best time. Certainly there was not as much traffic as the other days, and the rain was not as bad as the day before, but we did run into an issue in that a road was closed due to a fallen tree and that curtailed our adventures somewhat. But we made a start, and it is a full body of work anyway, so we will have to come back. I am very impressed with this series though, so it will get a generous quantity of FPs (as quick as I can generate them!) sprinkled through.Sorry about the cut and paste on this one, but if there is anything noteworthy to say about these hides/puzzles you will find it at the top.TFTC Wilbywarrior.

The first real day of caching for this flying mega trip with Nanzie. Sorry for the cut and paste logs in most cases, it's hard to keep track with which one is which when you are driving as well. Logs were signed as PC & N or vice versa. Thanks for a great trail Wilbywarrior#17387

Day 2 on my Geo Toroa Mega trip. Team effort with Kiwicampnut and MacpacMumJust about parked in a ditch, and GPS led me a merry chase before I got the right corner. Not a TV program I remember, but was quickly solved. Thanks for the cache Wilbywarrior# 4014 26 October 2024 5:02 pm

Leading up to the MEGA in Dunedin, there was much puzzle solving. The wet weather today did not deter us.we got into a pretty good rhythm. The logs were signed Aussies on Walkabout or AoW. Caching today with Feathertop, Sol de lune and LuckyL10n.Thanks for placing the cache Wilbywarrior.

26-Oct-24
Headed over from Australia with LuckyL10n, McLookers and feathertop and once in Dunedin we set out for this series. A lot of fun and a bit of misadventure all at the same time, but a good time was had by all, despite the rain. All logs were signed as AOW (Aussies on Walkabout) and all those found were in good condition. Many thanks for the series Wilbywarrior......

26-Oct-24
#21156; Day four of the GeoToroa Mega Road Trip with Sol de lune and our better halves. After a couple of nights in Queenstown, arrived in Dunedin yesterday for the Mega weekend. Today started with the Mega Opening Event and a nearby LBH before we hit the road with McLookers and feathertop for the Aeroplane series, followed by some challenge caches as well as a few in the Albatross series along the way as well. The weather was not kind with steady rain as well as the occasional heavy shower as we made our way around some interesting terrain, including some quite wet, steep and slippery dirt roads. Logs were signed/stamped "Aussies on Walkabout" or "AoW" on behalf of our group and then returned as found. TFTC Wilbywarrior Smile

26-Oct-24
I was caching this trip under the Aussies on Walkabout banner. All logs signed as such. The group this morning had Mclookers, LuckyL10n and Sol de Lune and feathertop. The plane series had been well solved many months ago.Couldn't have had a worse morning for it. Constant rain and wet muddy roads but we found all but 2.Many thanks for setting this up for us all to enjoy during the Mega...

We are in Dunedin this weekend for the Mega with Stik-a-Crane, UncleSam, KeyLev, and NZTravellers. We have signed all logs as team SEAC to save space, especially as we know this weekend will be busy for all caches. We have landed, picked up the cars and the plane geoart and any other trads, multis, or puzzles we have solved are the targets for the day. We have had an amazing time and had very few DNF's for a very successful day with lots of laughs and memories made. TFTC

Day dawned fine and dry after some rain through the night so was looking good for our plans for the day. A great morning spent collecting all our solved puzzles for the plane. Started at the airport with Smittengranny after meeting Binliner off his flight and then we teamed up with Joolay and Kittykatch. Had no problems with most of the finds and certainly enjoyed a few stops at the Outram cafe. Caches signed as CCD for Canberra Cachers Dunedin. Thanks for all the caches in this Geoart and the extras we collected while on the roads.

What an incredible day it was. This morning Kittykatch, Joolay, barb2e and I cached our way to the airport. Here we met up with Binliner to attack the Plane/Jet series, which we had solved before leaving Australia. We found every cache that we tried for, and this was one. The logs were all signed CCD (Canberra Cachers Dunedin). A huge thanks to all the COs for placing and maintaining these caches. You add so much to our game.

Back home in Taranaki after a massive 5 days at the Dunedin Mega with MrMuggleNZ and its time to start logging my findsall 226 of themso wish me luck. Only 2 DNFs the whole time we were here so thats a testament to the dedication of the local cache owners and their maintenance prior to this event. We met a lovely lady at GZ who knew what geocaching was but didnt know one was so close to her home. I warned her that she may get a few visitors over the weekend..She was weed whacking and said she might whack a trail straight to it. I said do it for a laugh! Good on her for getting into the spirit of things. TFTC

With a MEGA in the pipeline, a group of us Marlborough cachers set about solving the Airplane, Albatross and other challenge caches in the area. This is one that I solved. After travelling down yesterday, a 12 hour drive from Renwick, this was my first full day here.Finding this series in order would have taken too long so to keep my OCD under control, I can sign them off in order, all on the same day.Easy find here, although took a while to discover it.

23-Oct-24
Found with NZDi on our southern adventure heading for the Geo Toroa. Earlier in the year a group of us Blenheim cachers started solving puzzles around the area in preparation for this weekends Mega. The aircraft geo-art was part of that project. Today, with NZDi as driver and recorder and myself as navigator, we made the attempt to clear them out. We started out just before 10.00am with a DNF at #58 which didn't bode well for our mission. We finished all we could around 5.00pm. We are logging in the order the caches were signed. Caches weresigned in full or abbreviated to ND + KM as space would allow. We noted other cachers who logged today and even met up with others (twice). We were impressed with the accurate coordinates, the helpful hints (where given) and the well maintained caches. These logs are going to be pretty generic but I'll try to comment on some of the more memorable caches where appropriate. Thanks WW for the days enjoyment, and the months of work solving the puzzles, you are a credit to the Dunedin caching community.Once the hinted item was found, it was a QEF. NZDi said I smelled nice when I got back into the geo-mobile.TFTC wilbywarrior

With Gap (of Fap and Gap) Were here for Geo Toroa (Dunedin Mega). Between flight cancellations and re-routing, things could only get better, right? But wait, theres more! Somewhere on our caching escapades, I dropped my wallet Its still at large, so if anyone finds itWe still have that FOB (Fresh off the Boat) newness to shake off. One of us is driving, the other is caching. Weve either logged caches with our separate handles, or weve used FANGS to sign the logbook. Using the latter handle is more for mental health and well being. Its tiring having to write 15 characters, plus on each logbookIt took a while for the iPhone gps to settle. In the meantime, we got to see a bit more of ground zone than was necessary. Eventually, common sense took us to the right spot, and boom! Thanks WW. TFTP and TFTC.

11-Aug-24
Having visited some of this great series at my previous visit, I was keen to find the rest. Nice day to be out and about, although the wind did pick up later. TFTC!!

27-Jul-24
**24/61/100pt** Clockwise fuselage I remember this programme. It was a teenager thing, lots of wavy hair! Vincent once starred in a Hardy Boys movie so maybe we will see the sock puppet put one of those caches out soon. Caching has brought us back to Allanton where the CO couldn't find the PMO micro we found hidden nearby as basic members. Playgrounds can be tough for caches. Kept tidy and locals landscaped the gardens well with new bark chip so we had a dig by the fence post behind the Pitto not finding any pillcans. Popped over to where this micro is presenting on the grass in front of the hedge and found the airwolf cache well hidden under clippings. Signed the generic logslip in the bison and returned so peeps could spot it easily. TFTC WW

It took a while to find the hint item. Then a quick find. Thanks

21-Oct-23
FINALLY, and with humble apologies for being so late, I am catching up on my logging. On the day I was thinking too much about having just found my 10,000th cache. There is always time to learn something new and I learnt about this tv programme I have never seen..Day 4 of The Wellingtonians are in Dunedin tour with TwigNZ, Mr-Mcgoo, Itchyfeet2020 and matagouri, as well as TaybeeNZ who decided to have a few days of his South Island tour with us. We are targeting specific caches -oldies, wherigos (thanks to the Seagnoids new caches on the Wainuiomata Hill road in Lower Hutt), a certain jet and hopefully a certain bird. Of course, there will be days of laughter, no doubt at my expense .During our time here, all found caches were signed as MINT, regardless of whether 2, 3 or all 5 of us hadn't found it previously, or with individual names for Challenge Caches according to whomever was claiming the find.Kia ora rawa atu for the cache Wilbywarrior.

21-Oct-23
Out and about on day 10 of my South Island Tour and day 4 of "Wellingtonions Gone South: Dunedin Edition" with NZ_B, TwigNZ, Mr-Mcgoo, Itchyfeet2020 and matagouri. The target of this day was cleaning up the plane. All logs signed as MINT. TFTC

21-Oct-23
A group of friends have traveled together to Dunedin to collectively target a whole bunch of caches, primarily because of their value in terms of Jasmer Grid filling, or for certain Challenge Caches that we have elected to try to achieve.M.M.I.N.T.T are Mr-Mcgoo, matagouri, Itchyfeet2020, NZ_B, taybee nz and TwigNZ. Some logs were signed this way, some were signed as M.I.N.T for expediency, and some (mainly Challenge Caches) were signed with individual names.Day 4, our last day before heading home this evening, and the main focus of our day would be hitting the Plane geoart series. We had no idea whether we would get to complete it today, but having met the CO for a drink last night we hoped we would. This was effectively a quick park 'n' grab. No problems here, so everything was replaced as found once our team name was added to the log.Thank you for putting out this cache for all to find.

21-Oct-23
I had an excellent time solving this series of puzzle caches! Many evenings were spent trawling the internet for information. Itchyfeet2020 and I collaborated on some of the tougher puzzles, until we had the full set ready to go. Thanks for setting up this series, WilbyWarrior.A visit to Dunedin by Wellington geocachers NZ_B, Itchyfeet2020, TwigNZ, Mr-Mcgoo, Taybeen NZ, and myself. Signing as Team MINT, targeting old caches, Wherigos, and whatever else we can find. Today, completion of the Airplane series was our goal. Most of these were easy finds, although one or two took a bit more hunting. Usually, the caches were in good condition once found.

21-Oct-23
Day 4 of the Wellywood Adventure to Dunedin. The trip had been in the planning for a while - especially to get Sutton Lake, the Old School Challenge and other personal goals. The backup plan had always been - "lets get the plane solved in case we have time".Turns out today is that day so its great to be here after all the solving, most puzzles solved individually but the odd bit of throwing ideas in was needed Smile Spent a little while in the search here, I recall that was the same for the puzzle! TFTC&P Wilbywarrior. All caches signed as Team M.I.N.T.

21-Oct-23
(# 8397) The Wellington crew are on another mission. Included are Itchyfeet2020, NZ_B, TwigNZ, Matagouri and TaybeeNZ. As usual quite a bit of hilarity. Day 4 was more centred primarily on the Airplane series down towards the airport. Signed as MINT.Thanks Wilbywarrior for bringing me here.

20-Oct-23
Last for the afternoon and I nearly gave up, but after reading some logs, I gave it one more try and came up with the goods.

21-Sep-23
TFTC; an easy find today. I only had a pencil with me and it didnt write very well on this paper but I did manage to sign it.

01-Sep-23
Approaching GZ I cringed, it looked like it was going to take a lot of searching!

Thankfully I spotted it pretty quickly, I do like these containers! Signed and replaced.

31-Aug-23
Had never heard of this old TV series - but thankfully someone liked it enough to put a blow by blow description in the go-to reference. No idea why we didn't sign this off when Mr&Mrs P&Vee took me touring last year, but a handy detour today on the way back from Waitahuna. GZ was 9 m away, but luckkly Mr D was there to corner it.

28-Jun-23
This one had us scratching our heads for a minute as there didn't seem anywhere that fit the hint but not to be deterred and after realizing that there really is only one place it could be, we had our aha moment. Found with Spoonz2

26-Jun-23
This one had us going for a couple of minutes- there have been some alterations to the landscape.....but no, it's there. Found with Debsnz.

A nice quick find. Solved a wee while back, collection day today. Thanks for placing your cache. Apologies for the generic logs. We found all we looked for today!.

Ms_KR and I are heading to Invercargill for a tramping club 75th jubilee, so we left a bit early in hope that the weather would be fine, so we could get a bit of caching in. So far it has been good, fingers crossed for the rest of the time away.

Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches.

An exciting day to come and find the last of the Airplane caches. We solved the puzzles at home and then came on this holiday to find them. Camping at Mosgiel and ducking out between rain and mist. Apologies but will copy and paste these as using the library wifi to cactch up. Thanks for alot of fun with the puzzles and the hides. Thanks for this puzzle and the cache Willbywarrior.

30-Jan-23
Drove into Mosgiel yesterday. So this morning was set aside for seeking out and signing off some of the airport mystery caches. Started with the ones furtherest south first. This was the 22nd found. TFTC series Wilbywarrior.

20-Jan-23
Today I started with the airplane serie. That was very good riddle and I got some help. Even than I could not solve all so my Airplane will be handicapped. Today I found 25 and 2 no finds. I log it in the row I found it. The hiddes where very good and the boxes all OK. At the end of day it was raining.
Thanks a lot.

Out again trying to locate the solved Airport puzzles and signing off any others that got in the way.. These were some good headscratchers.

Cheers for the cache.

Last one for the day. Tftc and all the puzzles.

02-Jul-22
I'm on a geocaching roadie from Whangarei to Dunedin. Geoarts were the main target of this trip.

In Palmy I got 2/3 of a shield and 2/3 of the 20/20 series. Wairarapa we achieved 100% of the M and some archived skindo challenges. Wellington I finished off the kiwi bar 1 dnf. Nelson I got my BGSc challenges. In Christchurch it was family time. Dunedin was another sucess with 100% of the airplane geoart. Then I flew home to say goodbye to my son heading to Denmark.

It was great to have my friend Supernanny come along on the trip for company. We had a wonderful trip and fantastic weather. I'm just finishing off writing the massive backlog of logs.

Todays target was this geoart. This was one of my earlier solves. At gz we had to hunt for the correct hint item. Our plane is nearly all smiles now. Thanks again for the massive effort to make the series Smile

27-May-22
Airwolf was one of my favourite tv programmes as a child. It inspired me to want to play the cello, not that I had much opportunity living in Rossendale in the 1980s where your instrument of choice was the recorder. I solved this one some time ago ready for our trip down here. A quick find at GZ.

27-May-22
Took Flossieteacake and I some time to spot the hint object but we managed to find it. TFTC

13-May-22
Our second attack on this plane. We won't be obliterating it, but we'll manage a fair few holes in it!
We really wondered about this one as we approached, as the hint item was obvious, but it was there!
Thanks for setting this up

29-Apr-22
At Christmas time this bit of Geo-art was brought to my attention. I thought these look interesting and set about solving them, I got down to 3 unsolved before I reached out for some help. Thanks to some feedback from the CO I soon had answers to all of them, it was then time to plan a flying visit South to look for them. I flew in late Thursday and out again at lunch time Saturday. A most enjoyable trip. My first thoughts upon arrival was "Oh this is going to be a mission" but it turned out to be nowhere as hard as to locate I thought it was going to be.

Thanks for the time and effort taken in setting them up. Cheers and TFTC

29-Apr-22
I had never heard of this series. Perhaps it's because the topic didn't interest me as a child. The hide was well hidden away. Thanks for hiding this cache Wilbywarrior I appreciate it.

29-Apr-22
Out and about with Nosynel finding the airplane geoart. Thank you, Wilbywarrior, for your puzzles and hides. Never heard of Airwolf but happy to find this. A bit of pruning has gone on so possible easier to spot than previously.

We were a week into our GeoTour of the South Island when we remembered this plane geoart. We had intended to have a 3 week trip, but then found we could not get a return ferry, so we needed to stay on for an extra week. Perfect! That meant we could afford to take a trip to Stewart Island - and spend a day collecting this geoart. Only problem - we needed to solve them first! After that our nights were spent busily googling all manner of details about planes.
Did not see this TV series, but no problem finding the answers. Parked up and made a reasonably quick, if not instant, find. TFTC

14-Mar-22
On a quest for another 50 today for my DGSc challenge. Solved a lot of these in the last week so should get me most of the way. Some interesting data on the ones solved so far and the hides a nice variety. Cheers.

I can not remember the TV program.
Found with the Southern Flight Crew ️

Fun with google solving this one, thanks for the lesson TFTP

Sorted all the puzzles in this series, the majority painstakingly by myself, with a wee bit of all hands on deck for the last few.
Enjoyed every single one so many interesting facts put together, twas a brilliant series Matt! There'll certainly be a few Faves coming your way for the special puzzles which had interesting twists and turns, made me smile.... or near did my head in (worth that though!)
So today a plan was hatched for a roadie to collect as many as possible of this fab well thought out series. Group name of *SFC* (Southern Flight Crew) signed on logs. wombats_4, SearchWisely, mrandmrschosen1978, Mrs Hazzer, Tuitigger, Kiscardi, NZ Bozzy.

I traveled south to meet up with the rest of the Southern Flight Crew, and together we set off on a bumpy adventure. Heaps of fun had by all and no motion sickness lol. TFTC

The alarm went off at 6, to catch the red eye flight from IVC to DUD, due to depart at 7am from the east gate.
Packed my suitcase, with extra clothing, sunscreen and water.
We taxied towards the departure lounge, before putting the tray tables away, buckling up, and listening to the safety briefing and plotted course.
The pilot said the rain was going to clear late morning with a high of 17 degrees.
We departed about 5 minutes late on flight SFC, cruising speed about 105km/hr and a alltitude of about 2 feet.
We made good time, touching down at Allanton at 9.15, to add a few more passengers.
We made a few stop and starts, lefts and rights, even a small detour with better altitude to find some Kings.
Stopped mid flight for a cheese roll and a coffee at Outram, and a visit to the little boys room. Soon we were on to the tail end and reaching new heights, with a little bit of turbulence on an unmaintained gravel road, destination Everest easily reached.
I had a window seat, so great views once the low cloud lifted, was an enjoyable flight.
I must admit, I didn't solve any, but intend to one day, I just thumbed through the in-flight magazine, with phone on flight mode.
Thanks for the effort put in, and the reason to visit this area.
Stopped for a refuel in Milton, before the return flight, had a few sweets for the descend into Invers.

Don’t think I ever watched this TV show but can see why boys would love it. All the info was easy to find with wiki .
Finding the cache looked daunting initially but there it was.
Thanks WIlby warrior for an awesome series have enjoyed solving.

When these puzzles first came out just before Christmas I immediately set about solving them over the Christmas and New Year period, but I also set about making a plane - er, plan - to grab all of them in one day. Today was the day and, after putting the call out, pilot K.J.R. and flight crew Guwapo came to join in on the fun. Though I'd solved and verified every puzzle, sadly we failed in our mission by just one cache - verified with the CO as being missing at the time. Otherwise, we enjoyed the mixture of caches and I enjoyed the mixture of puzzles.

A puzzle that had a bit of a sting in its, erm, front. It pays to be "technically correct" sometimes. Cache was a bit tricksy too but it was found in the end.

Cheers!

A plain a plane a plan YES! a plan was made a few weeks back to try and knock this series off in a day. Solved the majority in just under 24 hours with a few hints here and there from one of the team. So today CJ-Curry, Guwapo and I went for a Sunday drive and we were oh so close...with 60/61...a couple of PAF'S resulting in just 1 DNF = a great team effort and a fun day had by all. Our selected route had us buckled in and then disembarking in just under 6 hours with not too much turbulence at all!

Another straightforward solve and figured out F easy enough but a couple of others took a little bit longer. Also took a bit to locate at GZ but got there in the end.

Thank you for this cache Wilbywarrior and all the other caches in this Plane Series...the time you have spent creating and placing them I really enjoyed them all - a couple (ok maybe about a quarter ) certainly had me pulling my hair out!!!

So a few weeks ago CJ-Curry puts out the call on the tannoy for anyone wanting to do Wilbywarriers aviation series. A few messages, checks of diaries, and a date was penciled in. Papa, with the help of Guwapo at times, managed to solve a over half of the puzzles before take off.

Papa and Guwapo joined the other flight crew of pilot K.J.R and navigator CJ-Curry for a six hour training flight around the plain and neighboring hill. 61 take offs and landings with only one DNF.

Woohoo, milestone number twenty on the journey, a bit of a search required.

Please excuse the generic logs, this was a great series, plenty of very interesting puzzles and lost of information and factoids discovered. Thank you Wilbywarrier, maraming salamat!

Cache found on a 3 day caching adventure across to Southland and Central Otago. What a most enjoyable and informative series of caches. Spent many hours solving the puzzle caches but still have a few more difficult ones to ponder over. Cache all good. Many thanks for the cache placement maintaining the caches. TFTC

Found on a mammoth caching weekend with Troodles, StreetWalkerNZ and Mrs KC. Apologies for the delayed boilerplate log, I was waiting until I had solved most of the puzzles before logging.

TNLN. TFTC.

Found with StreetWalkerNZ, KiwiChris and Mrs KiwiChris as we attempt to find as many of the new airplane geoart as possible on a warm and sunny Dunedin day.
Don't remember this programme and it took a bit to track down some of the info. GZ looked a bit daunting, but SW soon tracked down the cache. TFTC.

#20629. GZ was a nice, quiet location, and despite the daunting-looking vegetation the cache proved to be a quick find. TFTC.
