The view

You got the full effect today as the wind was blowing just right to give you the view and the stink of the steelworks while standing on top of an old toxic waste dump full of asbestos and who knows what else, probably be a sacred site in a few thousand yearsHow did I work in that place for 24 years, anyway a quick find and off home to warm up.TFTCIronbark.

Out for a few hours walking around the Gong while the Geomissus has a get together with some of her friends. Had a lovely few hours wandering the streets that Ive not been in before. I only picked out a few hides, with mixed success.This hide was my last of the day. After a CNS (could not see) in a tree climb hide I took a short cut up to this area. Certainly has been a spider type of day. Theyve been in very high numbers everywhere Ive been today, to a point where I couldnt be bothered wiping the webs off me constantly. I soon came across an open area that looks like its rarely visited. An interesting outlook here, looking over the vast industrial sites across to the golf course, with the islands in view. After trying to avoid unsettling the local magpies, I discovered the hide without too much trouble. Performed the relevant duties and made my way to the beach for a nice long beach walk.

What a view! Toothbrush island looking good today. We would have never seen this if it weren’t for geocaching. Oh the places you’ll go!

We would also like to pay our respects to the traditional owners, the five islands dreaming of the wodi wodi nation. Here on Dharawal country today.

We were doing the cache nearby and thought we might as well wander up to this one. Lovely view of the ships out at sea and a close up of the steelworks

Great spot and Beautiful view! Found it pretty much straight away but was met with quite a fright when I went to grab the cache and these two massive spiders were on it! TFTC

I'm after at least 6 finds today to appease the Calendar Caching Gods, but why stop at 6? Decided to head down to the Illawarra for a day of finds, but unfortunately I racked up a large number of DNFs as well. That certainly wasn't the idea! As a result, it was a much longer day than it should have been.

And I suspect about half of the DNFs I just simply missed.
Ah well, that's caching for you.

Only came across two people while in this huge park - almost seems abandoned.
The deserted lookout, however, provides stunning views along the coast.

The cache wasn't where I expected, but the coordinates were good.
Signed, replaced and took in the view before heading back.

This gets a favourite for the location. Stunning spot.

After a ftf smiley nearby, figured I’d also swing past Greenhouse Park while in the area. Shame the gates are closed most of the time as it deters people visiting, even on foot. At least there were no muggles for the quick find other than the magpies. Had some lovely conversations welcoming new babies to the world with no swooping issues.

What a great outlook from GZ. Cycled up from a nearby cache. The park does appear to be closed. However, it was easy enough to walk the bike up through some bush then onto a road which led to GZ. Nice and easy. Excellent coords as well. Thankyou Roo_and_tribe

A lovely covered lookout has been added since we placed the cache with a sign clearly labelling the many things you can see from here.

Come in and check it out - even if the gates are closed, you can still walk in and find this cache.

A big day in the Illawarra resulting in 20+ finds! Nearly all finds were unique, interesting and in good condition. Thanks to all Cache Owners for their contribution to our enjoyable recreational activity!

Parked at JJ Kelly Park and made my way into the Wollongong Greenhouse Park. Made my way to the top and admired the views before locating the cache. TFTC`

Never been here before and always wondered how to get in . Saw black cockatoos and an interesting view. Kids liked it . Tftc !

A bit of unexpected free time on this Friday afternoon left enough to find some local caches. It has been ages since I visited this park, good to be back and a good cache and location.
