Find # 16112Down in Ballarat for the usual medical checkup. So decided to do my normal and cache around the area before the appointment time.Have had a few on a "to get list" so I targeted them with a few stray smilies gathered amongst the list. Also got the map cleaned up again with ad labs. Getting another 3 of them done. Oh wow.... I seen large size and had to go for it. But this one is LARGE. Worth the scratches to get to. Good themed cache too. TFTC AlexiKatty

On a short break and to celebrate Mums 80th birthday, I dont have a great deal of time for caching but still wanted to grab a few including this one. This is a great hide, and must say different to others I have come across in the past.

After the effort put into our previous water-based cache, it was nice to be back on dry land and obtaining a quick find with an awesome concept. Absolutely loved this one. All in great condition. TFTC.

14-Jan-24
Peppa had a plan! Beardman75, Peppa and I have come to Ballarat to cache until we drop, its day 3 and its far from over. We have completed the Ballarat Geotour, which was our main target for the trip, so have the rest of the day to go where the wind (or BM75) takes us. After picking up a few extra LGAs further west we have finally turned around and are heading back East, more or less in the direction of the airport, its a good thing our flight is late tonight. This cache got mentioned at our event on Friday night but we missed it when we were in the area. We found ourselves nearby so made a detour to come and collect. Just as we pulled over an echidna walked out of the bush and crossed the road right in front of us, once it was safely across we headed into the bush. What a great cache! Awesome effort, definitely gets a FP.Tftc AlexiKattyFind #5293

We were told about this at an event on Friday and came to have a look. Found with Peppa and Davinells. Thanks for the cache AlexiKatty

14-Jan-24
Day 3 in the Pulsating Peugeot Party Prowler Having watched Davinells take an early morning dip in the delightfully chilly Lake Wendouree, then gotten our GeoTour souvenir, were now on a grand excursion to collect some select oldies in far flung LGAs and anything else I request as this was a Peppa had a plan weekendOne last fleeting visit back into Ballarat to grab this cache that came highly recommended during the January Jamboree of Geocaching Joy in Ballarat event on Friday nightIt was worth the detour well played The echidna (#3 for the weekend) waddling across the road was a delightful bonusThanks AlexiKatty

12-Jan-24
AWESOME - I love a cache that you don't have to hunt too hard for. Thanks AlexiKatty for setting up and maintaining Christmas 2021. I have to admit, I nearly didn't venture into GZ as I was on my own and really didn't want to come across any creepy crawlies or slithering sticks or go bush bashing BUT I also wanted to see why this one had so many favourites (88 when I found it). I smiled as I reached GZ - there was absolutely no need to for me to be putting my hand into a hole to find the cache. Favourite from me.PS: The Troll Doll [TN6TR0] were with me on my great caching adventures.

12-Jan-24
What an awesome cache thanks for the find

12-Jan-24
Absolutely awesome little find, have signed the log and left some swag and a trackable to help fill the gifts up, love this one

01-Jan-24
Found It....................After completing the Geo Tour we were heading out of the bush only to have Mrs H_3 get very excited as she saw all of the favourite points that this cache had. She then realised that she may have found this container in a previous location and informed Mr H_3 that it was amazing. So the geo truck was pointed in the direction of the cache and we were off. After pulling up to where we thought we needed to walk in from we set off, bush bashing on foot until finally we spotted it and after yet some more bush bashing bingo we had made it. After locating the log book and signing it we realised that we made the trip on foot WAAAAAAY more harder that it should so a leisurely walk had us back at the geo truck. Thanks AlexiKatty for the cache, We are giving it a fav point

B&Cs last minute road trip to the rat. With the girls having organised some friends to visit for sleepover, the boys made a last minute decision to get out of Dodge and hit um some caches. With the GeoTour approaching end of life, Ballarat was our chosen destination. Given we left Geelong early afternoon we were never going to knock it all off in one day so we decided to tackle the outer ones, leaving the caches in Central Ballarat/Lake Wendouree and Mt Buninyong for another day. This meant we could tackle other caches in some areas while we were there, which meant we managed to sign a few challenge caches, tick off the final 2 holes in our hidden date calendar, grab a virtual, a few ad lab stages and finish the day off dropping a ladder into a drain before heading home and arriving back in Geelong just before 10:30pmWe were fortunate enough to have a 100% success rate today, thanks to all the COs who have placed and maintained these caches.Detoured to this one purely having noticed it was a large, and upon arriving at GZ, it was indeed a large! C was most impressed! FP for the effort here.

Thought wed spend some time working through this wonderful Geotour. We made a plan with WeAreGleesos and hit the town. A great day for it with just a little morning drizzle. Love the amount of effort thats gone into this cache !!!!a favourite point from me. Many thanks AlexiKatty for providing this game piece for our enjoyment. And thanks for sharing the highlights of your region .

17-Dec-23
A few spare days to fill before Christmas so I made the decision to hit the road and go on a road trip from Adelaide to Ballarat. The main purpose of the trip is to tackle the Ballarat Geo Tour before they get archived in February 2024. Day two was spent around Gong Gong Reserve, Kirks Reservoir, Mount Warrenheip, Buninyong, and surrounding reserves. Quite a busy day. What a great cache. So much effort and expense has gone into it. A definite favourite. Thanks for the cache AlexiKatty.# # SmileSmile #13739 SmileSmile # #

10-Nov-23
Today was one of the best caching days Ive ever had - across 25k finds, and 12 years of playing! Ballarat just doesnt disappoint. I could easily spend a couple of extra days here. I had a target list of 50 caches. Knowing I wouldnt make a dent in the stockpile out here, i prioritised the geotour before it ends, virtuals, a couple of 2001 caches, and my favourite - challenge caches, mixed in with a few rare icons that I struggle to find in WA. I could have easily given out 50 favourite points today, but I dont have many spare!Leaving Melbourne just after 6am and finishing ba k in Melbourne just after 7 - it was a solid days work! Thanks to everyone involved in making the geotour a success and the local COs for their great caches and experiences that they shared with me.Will be back next time were in WA for a holiday.

What a fun find! lots to look at and so well done. TFTC

02-Nov-23
After a few Days in Melbourne and South Coast (Geelong area), wanted to do the geo-tour as the rumour is it wouldn't be around next time I am likely to be in Victoria. Clocked up some big km in doing the geo-tour but it was worth it - after speaking to other cachers, they said it was a must do if in Victoria. Also indulged in getting a few others in the area for other caching challenges. Thanks for caches I found today and the CO's for maintaining them.

18-Oct-23
Today we explored Ballarat and surrounds using geocaching as a guide. We enjoyed travelling through the countryside and visiting new, to us, locations. We found a variety of hides with varying degrees of difficulty. Many thanks to all CO's for your cache placement.

I'd had my eyes on completing the Ballarat Geotour for a while now, but with its days remaining on the gameboard being numbered, I knew it was time to seriously consider a trip out west to find them. This revelation coincided rather conveniently with the newfound ability to drive myself away on such a trip, a sale at the already discounted accommodation, a bit of free time, and two events in the region. And so, as if by magic, Brain's Big Ballarat Bash was conjured up, and my night away to finish the Geotour and partake in other general shenanigans commenced!Today's mission was chiefly to attend the pair of events in the morning, then head down to Buninyong to clear out the patch of caches there, before collecting the hides that were more central to the town, including those situated around Lake Wendouree.I'd been recommended to check this one out while in town by LetThemEatCache so I made sure to take the very slightly longer route to Mt Buninyong resultantly. There were no signs of anyone else's presence at the entrance which I considered quite useful, and I started my venture into the overgrowth shortly after parking the car.I wasn't quite sure what to expect out of this "large" cache - though visibility through the foliage even whilst 20m or so away ought to paint a reasonable picture of reality! What an effort this must've been to put together - an outstanding placement and not one that can be compared to anything I've seen before.A favourite point from me for the sheer gall mixed with creativity to pull this one off!Not even whacking my leg into a log on the way out could dampen my Christmas spirit (though it did leave a wicked bruise in the subsequent weeks, as I could pretty accurately anticipate upon impact!)Thanks to AlexiKatty for this cache! Smile

Its been a while since spending a day out caching. So it was great to head to Ballarat with DonutHoles to enjoy a relaxing day.Wow what a great cache that is well thought out deserving of a favourite point. There was no lock on the cache, unsure if there was meant to be one.Log signed and replaced as found. Thanks for the traditional cache AlexiKatty #7,549

Heading home from a day in Ballarat we couldn't resist stopping for one more along the way. It's a bit of time until the festive season, but we sure felt jolly once we spotted this cache. A great concept with a lot of effort. A fav from us. TFTC

15-Sep-23
Now that is great size cache. Had tried it a few months ago but couldn't get within 30 metres of it because of the water on the ground. No such issues today and I was soon at the cache looking through everything. Log was soon found, signed and I was on my way to the next one.

Thanks for this one AlexiKatty...fav point for the effort put into this one.

Found by Mary and David at 11:10. A FP from us to add to all the others. Very artistic and a nice big container. Stayed in Ballarat last night so we could attend two Events. Sorry we haven't been able to see you for ages. Our thanks to AlexiKatty.

02-Sep-23
This geocache was on our target/bucket list given the high Favourite Points, with 74 FPs accumulated as of the time of our visit.
We stopped off Boundary Road, and the trees perimeter made this a little off-putting, but that was probably designed to shoo away muggles. After walking to GZ, we were in astonishment at this geocache - Awesome, and incredible construction! It was then a couple of minutes of digging through the gifts until discovering the logbook deep inside; The cache container and logbook were in good shape. Thanks AlexiKatty for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance. I challenge anyone to not give a Favourite Point for this geocache! FP awarded!
Note that this geocache was logged with the *Team Warren* Davidwazza/[jesswrigley](http://coord.info/PRNW59T) stamp.

----------

This extended weekend, [jesswrigley](http://coord.info/PRNW59T), infant Cottontail and I were visiting Ballarat from Brisbane, targeting the [Ballarat GeoTour (GT4A1)](https://coord.info/GT4A1). Highlights included the historical architecture, buildings, and artwork/sculptures of inner Ballarat, Ballarat Botanic Gardens, Lake Wendouree, Sovereign Hill, Eureka Stockade, and mountains Mount Buninyong and Mount Warrenheip. We were lucky to have great weather with no rain and mostly blue skies each day, which aided our enjoyment of our trip. Apart from the targeted GeoTour geocaches, our geocaching has largely been opportunistic following tourist sights and attractions, although we attempted/targeted higher D-T combinations from solved puzzles, and rare cache types like virtual caches, Letterbox Hybrid caches, and Adventure Labs.

Today, the family commenced the day with a visit to Victoria Park and attending Prince of Wales parkrun. After grabbing coffees at the Boatshed Restaurant on Lake Wendouree, we then headed to Ballarat East to make a quick visit at Eureka Stockade, and then visited Sovereign Hill. The themed buildings, horse-drawn carriages and an underground mining visit were our highlights.
In the afternoon, we headed south-east to continue visiting locations from the [Ballarat GeoTour](https://coord.info/GT4A1), visiting Woowookarung Regional Park collecting challenge caches and walking the Dementia Friendly Forest and Sensory Trail, and then proceeded to Mount Buninyong. A very interesting volcanic cone, and great views from the summit lookout tower. We then proceeded back towards Ballarat via Buninyong and Buninyong Cemetery, and had dinner at Golden Point Hotel where infant Cottontail thoroughly enjoyed the indoor soft play area.

What a wonderful cache hide!! This cache had my brain explode with the Happy Hormones (serotonin I think)! The colours, the gifts, the big bow and the hand crafted logbook too! Words and FPs aren't enough to describe the awe I felt in finding this cache !!

Thank you AlexiKatty, for creating, placing and maintaining this cache. I have enjoyed finding it and visiting this spot.

It's a late run, I know... but I'll give it a go. Up at Ballarat with SueHut for a "Mental Health Day".
This is one of those caches where I end up feeling quite intimidated and inadequate as a cache placer. Most deserving of a fave.
Thanks heaps for the cache, AlexiKatty!

So after working 11 days straight in a row a sleep in was on the cards for this morning till it dawned on me last night that I needed to be in Bacchus Marsh for a breakfast event.
So after doing an Ad Lab in Sunbury I made my way here to catch up with a lot of friends and also to have a much needed cup of coffee at the event.
It was a very chilly morning and I thought it was still Autumn not Winter quite yet.
At the event I meet up with my caching buddy who I had just let down yesterday due to me having to work.
A meet up in Ballarat was organised before the next event and here I thought that I was going home early for a rest.
Well GemmaSistema has joined me or should I say I joined her for a couple of hours of caching fun.
Well Christmas has come early or am I very late.
What a great surprise and I often wonder how things like this get into places like this.
Gemma made short work of the lock and we were greated by a chest full of presents.

A fav goes out to you for this great cache.

Thanks AlexKatty TFTC

28-Feb-23
Christmas is full of surprises and so was this cache. Our last for the day before we head for home after a couple of nights stay in Ballarat and this cache was on our Santa list due to its size. In caching terms, size does matter and this cache was BIG, BOLD & BEAUTIFUL.

Thank you AlexiKatty for all the effort you have put into this great hide.

(Instead of leaving the traditional biscuits & glass of milk out for Santa and the reindeers, we have left a favourite point instead)

19-Feb-23
Wow, this was fun!
A beautiful part of the world revealed a beautiful heart, thanks AlexiKatty. It was fitting that we were here with newbie cachers who could not believe their eyes! And as not-so-newbie cachers we could not either. Just fab.
I love Christmas. Christmas tree day (the first Saturday in December) is the only day of the year my kids know they must be home! On go the carols, up goes the tree, and the most magical moment is when they both place the star atop. I have a photo every year since they were born on Christmas tree day. The excitement and joy it holds for the coming festive season makes me feel it is better than Christmas day itself.
Thanks again AlexiKatty, fav point from me.

ME:
Dear Santa

For Christmas (and other times throughout the year) I would like to find quality hides, preferably regular to large size. I'd also like them to bring a smile to my face, and to contain lots of fun things and gifts for everyone. I'd like them to be relatively easy to find, but also, to bring joy and cheer.

Love, LTEC

SANTA (aka AlexiKatty):
Done.

What an effort you've gone to here, to be our very own Santa and delivering such a fun hide. It is definitely worthy of a nomination in the COTY awards. Congratulations. It certainly brought joy to our little group upon finding, and I only wish I could award more than 1 FP. Great job and I look forward to finding more of your creations.

*Dear CO, apologies for the late logging…

Day 1 (full day) in Ballarat with Tankengine and Youban to do the GeoTour mainly, plus a couple of other caches and catch up with caching buddies.

We started at 8am (had done 3 of the tour last night), but finished the rest today by 5pm. Showered and headed to the Robin Hood Hotel for dinner (very yummy) with our caching friends.

The dinner, drinks and conversation was an awesome way to finish a busy, yet productive day of caching.

This cache: That was awesome! I’m so glad we were able to drop by this one today. We like to find favourited caches and we could see why this had so many points. Tftc!!!

Deffinitly one of the cutest caches we have come across, I think we walked past it 3 times before seeing it!

04-Jan-23
Second full day in Ballarat and with the kids still asleep, we continued our holiday traditions. Huntress was off on a 17 kilometre run, including 2 laps of Lake Wendouree while I went off geocaching. This morning it was mostly the Ballarat South areas, collecting whatever caches that had caught my eye and was saved into my offline list.

This wasn't on my list, but when I noticed I was passing close to a 'large' it was added to the list. Shame we were 2 weeks too late, as it would have made the theme perfect. Great idea and did still enjoy it, however it was a shame that something has died nearby and the whole area stinks.

Thanks for the cache Alexi Katty

For anyone making Geo plans, do yourself a favour and visit Australia’s only current Geotour at Ballarat while it lasts: https://www.geocaching.com/play/geotours/ballarat-victoria

And for anyone that can travel to Longreach, Queensland, late September 2023, Google “QOGM” which is the Queensland Outback Geocaching Muster. You’ll have at least 8 or 9 days of pure geocaching fun with around 200 like minded people attending a mix of events and access to over 200 geocaches placed by the QOGM team. It’s not a Mega, it’s better.

24-Dec-22
All replenished with new lights, a new stand to keep safe from water, and a new lock code. New presents as well, but please know you ONLY need to touch the box with the handle of bells to access swaps.

For those of you paying particular attention...there is a very Geochristmassy present in the small tin gift box for only one of you...the next finder I'd like to think.

Merry Christmas to my fellow cachers!

Disabling once again as flood has pushed for an early Christmas revamp. Keep an eye out for an exciting Xmas surprise in the 'enabled' log to come !

Welcome to the swamp. Water everywhere.

November 2022. Time for the second Victorian Mega of the year. This time in Whittlesea. What is it with W's? Time for another epic road trip. Who will join our merry crew? We traveled from South Australia and camped in the pig pen. It rained. It blew. It was sunny. It was not sunny. All four seasons. Beautiful location and some awesome caches.

Warning, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to exercise, meeting new people and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Beware: you may have fun.

Thanks for the cache. Merci la cache. Danke für den Cache. Gracias por el caché. Bedankt voor de cache. Kiitos kätköstä. Zikomo posungira. Terima kasih untuk cache. Hvala cache. Köszönöm a cache. Nga mihi mo te keteroki. Dankie vir die kas.

Arrived here and freddo went in with his waterproof shoes with the amount of water here, cache found and is okay

After staying in Melbourne for the night I trained it to Ballarat to meet up with freddo to cache for the day back to Melbourne heading towards the Whittlesea mega.

Thanks for the cache

Such a special effort. FP. Due to the flooding i am concerned the bottom of the gift box is saturated and will be very smelly by Christmas. Suggest time for a few new prezzies. StA#3911

11-Nov-22
Well what can you say but bloody brilliant. So much effort and thought put into this xmas themed cache that 1 favourite point seems not enough. We were able to reach the cache with dry feet, unfortunately there are ants making a home here however.
Merry Christmas
Thanks AlexiKatty for the great hide.

Likely May need relocating.

Somehow we got lucky! Very wet 15 metres up to it, but it’s sitting pretty (but dirty…I’ll give it a spray and wipe off nice we lose some rain) in the dry patch.

If you’re grabbing this in the next couple of weeks, don those gum boots

A tree planting event in Creswick and a GeoTour meetup by Kirks Reservoir, with some high quality smileys in between, adding to the GeoTour tally with a trek up the Mount Buninyong.

Now what?

Ah... A large cache or two...

All I can say is wow, AlexiKatty!

That is so not what you expect to find in the bush.

It's a good thing the voting for Cache of the Year was extended, because there's at least one more coming your way.

Wow this catch looks amazing. Congratulations on being nominated for Victorian cache of the year. I planned on coming to this catch in December due to the Christmas theme, but came today after noticing the nomination to check it out. Plan on visiting other caches that also made the list. Will have to come back past in December. Lovely cache idea.

Firstly hearty congrats on achieving such recognition ie. brcoming a finalist for the 2020/2021 Victorian Cache of the Year Awards for Best Traditional Cache, Best Regional Cache, and Best Overall Cache!
Logging this with permission after contacting the CO about the magnificent hide. I am sure the Grinch really did not intend to harm the creation and I look forward to revisiting it before we move.
A FP for the fun that we have had here so far.
