This time I came prepared!! I borrowed the TOTT from AusFox; which helped get this smiley face! A bunch of walkers around this time of afternoon and why not , what a beautiful time it is.Thanks for the cache
Quick find here. Thanks for the cache.Cleaning up Victoria with gridge98. We are on a mission this week. Completing twenty finds in Mexican local government areas is the challenge. Another find with the correct criteria. It is in Victoria and we have not accumalated twenty finds in this local government area.Today was the day to find this cache. Today is Moon's day the fourteenth day of the octavus month of the Roman calendar in the wonderful year of twenty twenty four. We found your cache container and added some inky stuff to the paper sheet or note pad you have supplied for a log book or scroll. The cache container and log book or scroll were in good condition. It was a bit cooler today. It was so windy today. A few showers. With the log signed and the cache replaced it was time to leave. Onwards to the next cache. Woot, that is not to far.I would like to show my respect and acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the Land, and their continuing connection to it. I wish to pay my respects to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures; and to Elders past, present and emerging.I will apologize right now, because everything from here on is here solely for the purpose of padding the word count and winning that one hundred word diamond badge again. Somebody moved the goal posts. So many caches to find. So many caches to log. We find them, sign them and replace them. This particular geocache was found using one of the following GPS enabled devices, Garmin GPSr, Montana 680t, Oregon 650 or Dakota 20 and an Apple iPhone 11 using the marvelous Cachly app. Waypoints and paperless geocaching were downloaded via GSAK 9. Log prepared, checked and submitted using GSAK publish logs macro.Warning, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to exercise, meeting new people and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Beware: you may have fun. Apologies for the generic part of the cache log. We do apologise for the generic logs. Thanks to all the cache owner for placing this cache here for our enjoyment. Thanks for the cache. Merci la cache. Danke fr den Cache. Gracias por el cach. TFTC! 28 September 2024 8:55:25AM 8500 thanks to Wollaston for the cache! A quick find and retrieval this morning, despite the wind. Thanks
Thank you for this amazing cache I chose to do it on a silly windy day with my 4 year old but getting it off was easily the easiest part getting it back up was very hard took us nearly 30 minutes with the wind and the container not wanting to cooperate left a trackable thank you once again for this cache
Went to find this one but didnt have the right tool of the trade I will be back when I can get the right tool
Travelling with iluvtrekking from our home state of WA on a SA caching foray. Spending a few days in Warrnambool to grab some local. Pretty miserable day but it keeps the muggles off the road. Visited a couple of times but was way too windy. Fortunately a window of less breeze this arvo so headed out and made to find. Thanks for the hideLNCU
Travelling with richlink on our Annual Caravan Geocaching road trip, using geocaching as our guide. We are spending our time exploring the local area. Thanks for placing this cache. LNCU.
We saw it hanging, but have no equipment to catch it.We proceed with our 3 hour walk
Found this with gridge98 on our road trip to Victoria. We took the great ocean road to Warrnambool, then to Ballarat and Halls Gap. Fantastic trip away over 5 days. Thanks for the cache!
This was the only time our whole trip the pole came out of the car and it was put to good use here, made the walk over and was able to reach to the nose bleed. Cache lowered, signed and replaced.courtneyrose_ and I headed away to Victoria for a 5 day trip for me to partake in the Ballarat Marathon. Along the way we made our way to the great ocean road to explore the area, after both of us had not been there for many years. We then headed to Ballarat for 2 nights before heading to Halls Gap for a scenic experience for the night before making our way back to home to Adelaide. Thanks for the cache.
Maintenance Run today:Co-Ords Placement Container Log checked Finders that have not signed the log (as attached) will have the Found Log deleted.
On our school holiday trip to Warrnambool I thought I might be able to come here to grab this one in another way. Not happening. Maybe next time I might have the right equipment.
Thanks to Wollaston for placing this cache. We enjoyed the adventure and after a bit of looking spotted the cache. We came equipped and soon had it in hand.A nice spot to stop on the way to Port Fairy.
Found with sir_spectre while out and about in the South West on our Christmas road trip. Thanks
a quick lower at gz. Who does like a pole cache? I was getting my numbers up to 20 finds in this LGA. Found with Mogni. I think this is the most changed trip in the planning stage that i have ever been on. The " original trip " was supposed to start on the 31st of dec but at the start of decemeber life changed and the trip was now starting on the 26th of decemeber and all accommodation that had booked cancelled and now see what else is free on the ealier dates. A major readjust of plans and got 1/2 the trip booked before the next curve ball came in to alter the plans again. More adjusting the plans again and i realized i could host 2 CITO's in 2 different LGA's in victoria. What we do to qualify for victorian challenge caches. Also i got my 20, 000 cache over in victoria in this trip. It was decided in the end that the 4x4 was going to be the vechicle for this trip that way we could go and target all the caches that you never get, the ones down the sandy/rocky/dirt and forestry roads/tracks. We left Adelaide and headed to Casterton for a couple of days, then to Budj Bim National Park ( and saw 5 koalas in the camp ground high up in the trees ), then over Heywood, a night in Mount Gambier plus there attended the 3rd CITO of the trip before sending a few nights in Millicent and then finally home. Over 250 caches found plus 86 lab caches. Mogni also got her 11th D/T loop. I also got 3 more victorian LGA's up to 20 finds mininium for another victorian challenage cache. If the cache was broken/eaten/smashed it was reaced with a new container and if the logsheet was wet it was replaced and if the log was full or almost full extra log sheets were added to the cache.
Weve treated ourselves to 2 nights in a caravan park with a Black Friday deal. Today is day 2 we had a nice little tour around town and collected 19 caches, tried to get to 20 but ended the day with 2 x dnf .We had a super day and managed to get all our city chores done between caches.Took ages to spy this one, after that Geohusband had the cache down, signed and replaced in a flash. TG for TOTTS TFTC
Hevwalker and I were in Warrnambool for a 4 day caching holiday and caught up with Chooknchunk yesterday to do the Tower Hill caches and come to our event where we met Eviloffspring who helped us around the town and found some caches around the area. Luckily for us hevwalker always has the right TOTT in the car, and did a great job in getting the cache from it's hiding place. We all signed the cache and then Chooknchunk did a great job in putting it back giving hevwalker a well earned rest. TFTC.
scramping & I were visiting Warrnambool for a 4-day long weekend. After our event Chook (ChooknChunk), Eviloffspring, scramping & I did some caching around town.Fortunately for me and my group I keep the required TOTT in my car. It didn't take long to get it down without dropping it but after I dropped it once putting it back and my neck was aching, Chook gave it a go & did a fantastic job of replacing it.TFTC Wollaston
After attending the brunch event, buying a new printer and a visit to Spotlight we headed over to collect this cache - for once I had both the TOTT and the TOTT controller on board. Despite it being busy in the area it was all quiet while we did the deed.Greetings from down South
After attending an event this morning in Warrnambool, Chook teamed up with Hevwalker, Scramping and Eviloffspring to find a few more caches around town before she had to head home.Luckily Hevwalker had the right TOTT for this one. Took a minute or two to get it hooked, and Chook helped out with returning it to its position, to share the load on the necks and shoulders. TFTC Wollaston.
After carrying around the TOTT all day, we finally got to the hide and spotted it quite easily. Extending the tool, which was graciously borrowed by Sim_Family (thank you so much btw) we hooked the container and brought it down to be signed.Putting it up was a challenge due to the weight but we got there in the end, putting it on the same branch we took it off from. There is a lot of fake logs from people not signed off on the logbook. You have to sign the logbook, not just spot it from the groundthanks for the cachePika
lol a bit obvious in a work car for me, but no implement to carry out the task. One of the better caches I have seen well done. Sorry couldnt finish the task TFTC though
In Warrnambool for the annual 3hr free, which is closer to 2hr once the drop off has been completed.
Back agin to avenge this cache, as the last time I was here I left the pole at home as I thought there would be no use for it D’oh.
This time I came prepared and this was the first cache of the day, even with the constant drizzle. A quick erection had a the cache in hand. And returned on the second attempt.
Log signed and replaced as found.
Thanks for the traditional cache Wollaston

Saw it but had no chance of getting it unfortunately! Even if it hadn’t been pouring with rain
Found at 1:42 PM in the company of Liz and Bruce, GAFF1
I was offered the opportunity to get this cache as Wollaston had the equipment. The sun was directly overhead which made it quite tricky to see where the cache was let alone trying to get the hook at the end of the pole anywhere near the plastic zip tie.
Managed to get it down after some directions and then to get it back up took a few moments of wandering around.
Thanks Wollaston.

Bunadoorian , his Geobrother and myself had a bit of spare time so we decided to come here to show GeoBrother how the Fishing pole was used to retrieve and replace a cache. This was Bunadoorian's first real run in getting a cache with his early Christmas present. Cache was soon in hand, log signed and replaced while I was introducung some local Muggles to geocaching. TFTC and for bringing us here Wollaston.
Grub62 has recently bought me this year's Christmas present and this is the first time I have completed a find with it. It was a bit awkward as I was looking into the sun a bit. A nice hide and well away from any muggle activity. TFTC.
Doing some caching around Warrnambool we had the correct tool to snag this one. Thanks Wollaston
I don't have the kit to retrieve this one but I have seen the CO's rig up close in the back seat of his car in Ballarat on one occasion.....
Lucky we were talking to suscoe during the week who warned us we would need our fishing pole with us while visiting Warrnambool, otherwise we would have missed out on this beauty. With one half of the team as lookout the male Triton used his finesse to go fishing and was lucky to get the catch of the day and sign the logbook.
Thanks Wollaston for the fishy placement.
Thanks Wollaston for the fishy placement.
So we found it but with a pregnant belly and a geo-child we were unable to retrieve. Will absolutely try and retrieve once we are better equipped
We came, we saw but alas much too high. And not going out on a limb for this one.
We came, we saw, we did not conquer. Next June when we return, this is a definite entry on the to-do list.
Sort of. Back next June with fishing poles to claim and sign log with grandsons who like to fish. Cheers
*In Warrnambool to catch up with Family*
Equipped with the necessary tool (thanks to Happy Feet) we decided to head out and target this particular hide while we were in town. Easy enough to spot thanks to the Autumn weather stripping GZ bare.
Happy Pants and myself had a go and even though the wind howled, Happy still managed to get a bite and bring it in! Signed the log and I managed to get it back up there.
Certainly gone are the days of stealth required when retrieving a cache as the owners of the house nearby and passer byes must just sit back and watch the entertainment unfold. Thanks Wollaston for the different type of hide - I hope these hides don't become a 'thing'...

Equipped with the necessary tool we decided to head out and target this particular hide while we were in town. Easy enough to spot thanks to the Autumn weather stripping the gz bare but just spotting the hide wasn't enough, getting it in hand was a little trickier. After a minute or two of set up l had a couple of cracks at it and even though l grew up in Warrnambool l was never a keen fisherman, too many tangles and knots, let alone snags and the countless sinkers and hooks that ended up wrapped around a hidden branch or jagged rocks. Throw in the regular freezing South Westerly gale that would near blow a dog off its chain and chill you to your core and leave you with eleven frozen digits and a empty fish bucket. So l certainly had no intentions of trying to keep any fishing gear in my shed for such a time as this but was happy though that l could borrow a adapted telescopic rod and hook thingamajiggy to grab this one, Snap Happy and myself had a go and even though the cursed wind did its best to throw the rod around back and forth l still managed to get a bite and bring it in! Signed the log and Snap managed to get it back up there. Certainly gone are the days of stealth required when retrieving a cache as the owners of the house nearby and passer byes must just sit back and watch the entertainment unfold. Thanks Wollaston for the different type of hide, looks like this is going to be the new style of hides, better get to BCF and start looking for a new rod!

Just been fishing and caught a rare species High and dry. So I handled it carefully and hopefully replaced it undamaged without addition or deficit. Enjoyed the adventure and challenge. Thankyou Wollaston
Left Melbourne for WARNAMBOOL after work yesterday. Arrived early evening, a quick bite to eat and off for a walk. Covered 8km and collected a few local cache. Quick pint and off to bed. Up early Saturday to do Parkrun, breaky and cache our way back to Melbourne. Was a fun little escape, ticking lots of boxes. Thanks for the fun.
This one is there, but you need to sneak through the temporary fencing

After the community celebration event we went to test out our fishing pole training. It was a bit of fun and laughter with the group. Definitely leaving the fishing caches up to Eviloffspring to collect. Thanks for cache Wallaston and the TOTT.

Following the "Fishing Pole" training at the Community Celebration Event, we were able to give our pole it's first test. Yes a bit wobbly, but we will get better.
Thanks Wollaston for the training and placing fun caches on the gameboard.

After attending the nearby community celebration event and getting a few pointers for the tree fishing pole, the group of attendees headed off to this cache, with the CO.
It was a little windy, which made to retrieval and replacement, a little more difficult but with alittle more insurtuction, we had lots of fun, trying our skills. I now look forward to doing more of these types of hides, as they aren't that daunting.
Thanks Wollaston for placing the cache and doing the maintenance, so we can enjoy the find.

After attending the Community Celebration Event, we headed on round with the cache owner, Wollaston, and other cachers from the event to check out Warrnambool's first cache.
A bit of fun was had and our newly learned skills were put to test. Amongst the chatter, the cache was retrieved, numerous times, the log was signed and back up it went to it's resting place.
Thanks goes to Wollaston for the cache and the use of the TOTT to retrieve the cache.

After finishing the Warrnambool Parkrun, we joined the event and met some lovely people. Finishing the event, it was mentioned heading over to check out this geocache.
With people taking off in their cars, we were kindly offered a lift but declined to enjoy strolling thru this lovely park. Got to the location just in time to sign the log. Had another great chat watching a few people put the cache up and back but we didn't have enough time ourselves.
Thanks for the cache Wollaston
Hunter
PS. Yes Wollaston, you are correct, I couldn't have monkey climbed that one.
PPS. Needing Equipment to get the cache, I would have thought this should be a T5

After the event I teamed up with everyone and enjoyed another learning experience. It is a ripper spot for a fishing pole cache and it was great to continue our conversations while everyone had a turn at manoeuvring the pole. Thanks Wollaston for the opportunity. A favourite from me.

We were in Portland visiting dad and after breakfast checked to see if there were any new caches in the area when we spotted this one. Although we were travelling light and for a change we only had one TOTT with us and that was the one required so we thought that we would take Dad for a drive and try our luck. We arrived at gz and started searching and after quite awhile we still hadn't spotted anything so after reading the previous log we rang the CO to confirm that we were in the right location and they confirmed that we were and gave us a hint about the size of the container which was much bigger than we thought that it might be.
We started searching again and once we spotted it it was much bigger than expected and we couldn't believe why it took so long to find.
We tried retrieving it from one position which didn't work quite well so we changed locations and this time the cache was retrieved with some what ease.
We were very pleased to find a blank first page in the log book as "FTF's" are scarce for us these days.
With the paperwork done we had to replace it and mother nature decided to have some fun with us and the wind sprang right up and it took longer to put it back than it did to retrieve it but it has been returned exactly where we found it and we walked away with smiles on our faces.
Many thanks Wollaston for Warnambool's first tree fishing cache in a very interesting and historic area we knew nothing of, a favorite point from us.

I never really enjoy these caches and that’s not helped when you don’t find it and a Car broken down so walked from the other side of town to try for a ftf with mod d t ratings. After looking for 20 minutes read the description. It may be the first in Warrnambool but there are lots in other places. So no novelty factor for me, but I am sure others will appreciate your effort especially with different circumstances.
Difficulty and terrain ratings need updating to reflect requirement of a special piece of equipment. Be good if the coords pointed to one tree.
Hmmm, the logs below are a perfect example of why players should read the description within a cache which in this case, clearly states in the first line that its a tree fishing cache. The cache “Attributes” clearly indicate that a special tool is required. Experienced cachers would also note the tree and fishing emoji within the title which is now a reasonably common method for CO’s to highlight that it’s a tree fishing cache.
